Webcam not entering low-power mode after resume
Can other W520 owners with a webcam (and potentially other models) confirm whether or not the camera prevents the USB subsystem from entering low power mode?
1) Unplug all USB peripherals, and turn off Bluetooth (this runs on USB as well)
2) Put the system into standby, unplug the AC adapter, and resume the system on battery.
3) Load a Command Prompt and run powercfg -energy
4) Load the generated report and look for the following:
The most noticeable issue caused by this is unnecessarily high power consumption, and as a result, lower battery life.
Turning the camera on and off (using the Fn=F6 preview window) turns this off and returns power consumption to normal.
On the latest available BIOS, chipset, and camera drivers.
Would like someone to confirm whether this is a driver issue or if it's just my system.

I have a very similar spec also. The pair of U2410's (updated revision A01) connected to it won't go into sleep mode (just go black, with backlight still on).
The pair of cheapie BenQ 2420HD's I had connected while I waited for the Dells went into sleep mode fine.
Someone on another forum noted that they had a different model Dell on Mac with the same problem, and he found it only happened when the USB uplink cable was connected to the Mac. I disconnected mine (uplink and down), but no change unfortunately.
Google searching seems to suggest this is almost exclusively only with a Dell/Mac combo (same monitor on PC works fine and other brands on Mac work fine). These U2410 monitors get an absolute bagging on most forums, and I think most of it is deserved. These will both be going back for a refund with severe blue/pink tints making them visually perform worse than the BenQ's that were 1/3 the price. What's the point of spending 2 to 3 times the amount on IPS monitors when they're off colour even right in front of them!
The HP 24" IPS uses the same crap LG panel as these Dells, I can't justify 2 x 30" Apple Cinema displays for AU$5000, and one just won't cut it. No simple answer it seems....

Win10 defeating my system's low power modes
Both of these devices ran properly in their low-power modes under 8.1x64:
1) Radeon HD 7850 2GB--For some reason after a boot up, 10-20 minutes later, my GPU jumps from its low-power clocks of 300Mhz/150MHz (core/ram) to full power, and shows 92% GPU activity and appears "stuck" there. Removing all of the Win10
updates did not alleviate the problem as I was hoping for. This is the case regardless of AMD gpu driver used. But it gets better...
2) Not only is my GPU stuck on full throttle mode (even when doing nothing or else simply browsing), but my *CPU,* which under 8.1x64 ran fine with AMD's Cool'nQuiet power reduction modes (like Intel's Speed Step), *also* (at the same time) kicks up to *full
power* although set in Windows to fluctuate between 10% and 100% on a demand basis.
The only cure that works is to log off and then back on...which corrects the problem for about another 20-30 minutes before both devices go to full power again. Definitely something is strange in the Win10 Preview (which I upgraded from an 8.1 installation
with none of these problems.)
Now this may or may not be tied to the problem, but for some really oddball reason Windows10TP will not let me install two innocuous utilities I've used for years: CPU-Z & HWmonitor. Win10 claims these application are incompatible with it--yet,
these are only simple hardware identifying programs--and both ran without difficulty under 8.1x64.

and the Secure Boot State is ON. All clocks are running at defaults. I also reinstalled the Win10TP updates as I determined they weren't the problem as it continued after I uninstalled them.
Yes, C'nQ it is enabled in the bios (as I mentioned, all of this stuff worked like a clock under 8.1x64)...and that's the weird thing...Win10TP...operates exactly like it should in relation to the low power modes for around 20-30 minutes--exactly like it
did in 8.1 all the time--and then for some inexplicable reason both devices jump to full power/full speed--as if something is running that demands the power/speed--but it isn't!
I've run differing browsers with hardware acceleration turned off; I've run nothing at all apart from normal boot-up running programs, and it makes no difference. Something is throwing these devices into max-power mode after 20-30 minutes from a boot/log-off/on
having occurred.

CPU is AMD FX-6300 @ stock speeds & voltages
8GBs DDR 3 running with stock timings and settings (2x4GB)

I've all through the power savings options I'm using and can't find anything that might explain this--I keep going back to the fact that this never happened even once under 8.1, and I started with 8.0 in Jan '13 and have upgraded from there--never happened
with Win7x64, either (same hardware, same settings.)
I'm wondering if maybe I ought to be running the Enterprise version of Win10TP, but I can't really think of *why* that would make a difference with these symptoms...
If you think of anything else, I'm all ears...;)

Automatically reconnect to Mobile Network when coming out of Low Power mode
My Pearl 8130 automatically disables the Mobile Network when it goes into Low Power mode. Unfortunately, it does not automatically re-enable the network when it comes out of Low Power mode. It also doesn't allow me to re-enable the network immediately after I've plugged it in, only after I've plugged it in and the battery has recharged for some period of time.
This means that I frequently absent-mindedly leave my phone disconnected from the network for hours at a time, even after the battery has recharged and the phone is capable of reconnecting. This is really inconvenient and, in my opinion, a huge design flaw.
Is there some way to configure my phone so that it will automatically re-enable the network as soon as (or soon after) battery power has reached the necessary level?Actually, newer models do behave differently and have a different threshhold for cutting off the radio.
But remember this, the 8100 is getting to be an old device... and batteries have been upgraded since it was first released, as well as technology and specs on the newer devices.
The goal of the BlackBerry in cutting off the radio is to allow reamining use of your device, and to not allow the entire battery 100% to be sucked dry. Leaving the device signal and data running at less than 15% will very quickly deplete.
So, with that said, I would still recommend topping off the battery from time to time, in your case at night, or first thing in the morning.

But remember, using that app will drain your battery pretty quickly, but allow you to make that one last emergency call.

TC Wifi stuck in low power mode?
I noticed that every time I'm working 30ft away, move to 3ft and work, then move back 30ft to continue working, the wifi seems to get stuck in low transmit/receive mode. I know it's in low power mode because when I go to check what's up, the wifi still works at 3ft. I have to reboot my Time Capsule to get the better range again. This happens every time without fail.

Windows server 2008 r2 operating system is not booting in normal mode after i uninstalled the virus guard in the system. I tried to repair the system but repairing option not available in server 2008. i can log in to the system only safe mode.

Regarding the issue here, please restart the computer and press F8 until you see the
advanced boot options, select start windows normally,
if it starts with no problem, please check if you have the option boot from safe mode checked:
run->type msconfig->tab boot->boot options, check if the
safe boot is selected, if yes please uncheck it. Then restart the computer to check if this problem still exists.
If the system needs repair, please take a look into the below WIKI article, and check the event viewer to see if any errors for further troubleshooting.:

Potentially dumb question, but it may make a difference in when and/or how I update my home network for media...
I understand that OS X Lion includes a "low-power" mode, in that it's a partial wake-on-LAN that doesn't wake up the display, etc. I also know that an Apple TV can't stream media (movies, specifically) from an NAS type system without going through an iTunes client at some point (even if the NAS has an iTunes server built in).
So, my question is -- does Lion's wake-on-LAN work in this sort of situation? That is, if the computer is in sleep mode, but iTunes is running, will attempting the stream a movie from the NAS to an Apple TV "wake" the Mac to perform its duties, and if so, does it do so in the low-power mode that doesn't turn on the display?Potentially dumb question, but it may make a difference in when and/or how I update my home network for media...

MBA fails to wake (Platform Failure) after entering Low Power Sleep state

The issue: every time the battery drains empty and the device automatically shuts off, it will not properly power-on after being charged. The display backlight is active (and apple logo on the rear is illuminated) although the screen is blank. The machine doesn’t respond to any command or action. The machine will not respond to ping requests and does not appear to attempt to join the network according to the Airport logs. Closing the clamshell and re-openning does not appear to make any difference. The only action that yields any response is to hold the power button until it turns off and then turn it back on again. This has happened 100% of the time since the MacBook Air was purchased. This behavior does not happen with the 2009 MacBook pro also running OSX Lion.

Any advice?I have the exact same issue 100% reproducible BUT I also know how to exercise the bug without needing to run down the battery. Simply do sudo pmset -a destroyfvkeyonstandby 1 hibernatemode 25 then remove the power cord, close the clamshell, plug the power cord back in so it charges for a second, then open the clamshell. You will be in the same blank screen state as if you had let the battery run out.
hibernatemode 25 basically just tells the computer to go into hibernate mode instead of sleep mode wheenver you close the laptop.
destroyfvkeyonstandby tells the computer to power down the ram as soon as it enter hibernate mode.
This problem is way worse than any of you suspect. In all probability the system was intentionally broken in order to provide a backdoor into FV2. Let me explain:
It's impossible to achieve a secure FV2 system without using the following settings:
sudo pmset -a destroyfvkeyonstandby 1 hibernatemode 25
because otherwise what will happen is your FV key will be stored in RAM during both sleep and hibernate states. That means if a bad guy steals your laptop while it's in sleep or hibernate state he's then free to take an unlimited amount of time to attack it. He will be able to retrieve the key from ram as DEMONSTRATED LIVE a few months ago at a security confrence. The tools to preform the attack to retreive the key along with a detailed writeup are availble here:

So at the risk of repeating myself... the conclusion is it's impossible to have a secure FV2 MBA system because of this bug. I suspect it's a conspiracy because it's too convenient of a bug..
apple has the fV2 system insecure by default (key stored in ram by default) and then apple happens to have a bug that prevents you from flushing that key then hibernating which would be the secure way to do it. Too much of a coincidence. -
I went hiking this past weekend and wanted to only take my iphone instead of the usual GPS, camera, and cell phone. Unfortunately, my battery will only last about 24 hours (or less if at extreme edge of cell range).
I used a GPS mapping application that allowed me to cache map tiles on my phone ahead of time, but I found there was no way to turn off the power hungry radio while still leaving my GPS enabled. So every time I wanted to take a picture (with location tags) or get a breadcrumb on where I was I had to turn off air plane mode, let my GPS get a location and then turn off airplane mode. The other problem with this is that when I did have airplane mode off, my email started to sync which just burned up even more battery (and reminded me of all the work I should be doing!).
It would also be ideal if apps had a low power idle state where they could stay running but basically not use any power between waking up every so many minutes. This would be great for a bread crumb tracking app that only updates every so often.Tell Apple:

DataGrid enters in edit mode after alert is closed
Hi, i tried to fix this by myself but i just couldn't.
This is the problem:
I added KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN event listener for data grid and if key code is 46 (delete btn) alert is shown to ask user if he wants to delete that selected row and that is working without problem but when alert is closed data grid enters in edit mode. Why is this happening? Also i noticed that last field that has been edited will enter in edit mode regardless of what row is selected.

N900 do not enter in Update Mode
I´m trying to reflash my N900 ( It bricked when i installed "Nokia Data Gathering". Keep away of this !)
Anyway I took a look at http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware and the reflashing process doesn´t seems to be that hard to do. I installed flasher 3.5 in a windows xp box and downloaded the N900 firmware. All seems to be fine.
I fully charger the phone, pressed "u" and connected the micro usb cable to the pc. So far so good..
After some time the N900 shows the Nokia Logo but it NEVER enter in update mode. And the computer don´t even recognize a device is connected (never asked for drivers).
I tried the same process in 2 windows xp and 1 Ubuntu machine . The result is always the same.
I´m beginnig to think this is not a driver poroblem. The N900 should enter in "Update Mode" when the "u" is pressed and the usb cable is connected even if the drivers are not loaded, right?go to the files you downloaded (emmc and os)
Click on
RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM
and rename (press F2) the file to emmc.bin
Click on RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.003_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM.bin
and rename (press F2) the file to os.bin
and place them in the flasher's directory (i think you already did that)
Go to the start menu, select run then type CMD
A black cmd window will pop up.. in that window run these commands exactly:
cd %ProgramFiles%\maemo\flasher-3.5
flasher-3.5 -F os.bin -f
flasher will pause saying "waiting for suitable device"
now turn of phone, take of battery, press the u on the keyboard and keep pressing (don't release it) than place the usb in the device, and put the battery back in, it should start flashing your os, you can let go of the U button when flasher starts doing something .
Once flasher has finished (it will say "completed successfully") you can continue with flashing the emmc:
run this command
flasher-3.5 -F emmc.bin -f -R
That should be it

IPhone reboots when coming out of low power mode
I have a consistent reboot coming out of sleep mode.
If I have wifi enabled and put the phone to sleep for a longer period of ( time > 10 min ) the phone will reboot when I wake it. This is with only waking it up and not going to any particular application.
If wifi is disabled the the phone doesn't reboot on wake.
If the sleep period is short the phone doesn't rebootI had a similar issue. I would reboot when I tried just to wake it up. It would also power back up (with logo) if I received a text message or email, vibrate or ding, then when it went back to sleep it would power down after a few minutes. My wifi was always turned off at the time.
I took it to the Genius Bar on Saturday and they replaced it, but my service guy said he'd never seen that before.
What really irritates me is my replacement iPhone has the negative black issue on pics and video, so now I want to take THIS one back as well.

Vista64 intermittantly hangs entering S3 sleep mode after installing X-Fi Extremegam

When I first put my PC together I was using the onboard sound chip on my MB. My PC worked flawlessly and would enter and wake from S3 sleep with no issues. It worked fine this way for a couple of months until I installed my X-Fi card. As soon as installed the X-Fi?sleep will only work about 8 times in every 0 attempts, and when it fails my screen is blank and the PC is on with the fans still spinning etc. My PC is completely frozen and only a hard reset will cure it. The kicker is that there is no error created in the event logs and nothing is reported to MS. I removed my X-fi a week ago and went back to my Onboard and everything is fine again. I've not had to reset once, albeit with the lower performance.
I've done the usual thing of making sure the X-fi is not sharing IRQ etc. Hybrid and normal sleep have the same symptoms too, and this issue occurs on every X-Fi driver I've tried too.
Anybody come across this problem and managed to fix it's If any mods are reading I would appreciate it if you could elevate this issue to the driver team.

Very recently my Macbook has been acting really slow. Normally whenever i play a game, it starts off slow then after i hear the fan spinning it begins to speed up. Its like a high-performance mode when the hard disk start running faster. However, my Mac's hard disks seem to be stuck in sleep because whenever i start a game, the fan doesn't spin fast and it acts like when i start my Mac or when i'm at critical battery and it shuts the hard disks off. I've never had this happen to me before and i can't play any games because its so slow. I have tried reseting the SMC and nothing happened. I unchecked "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in power saver options but it's still stuck in a power-saver mode. I really don't know what to do and i would appreciate some help as quickly as possible. Here are my specs:

After starting it and loading into a game i still had the same problem. Processor seems to be napping practically since i couldn't hear the fan spinning faster like it normally does and i was averaging about 15 fps to my normal 60 to 70-ish. Sorry if this is too much, i really don't know what is relative to the problem and what isn't. I hope this helps! if there is a program that takes console logs and filters them create clean logs let me know and i'll do it.
Oh and i'm also going to try verifying the disk on disk utility now. -

I have Sattelite Pro U300 and I'm using Linux.
I've notice one problem on my PC, it does not indicate that battery power is low (not blinking) and just turns off.
Is it this indicator driven by software or it is some hardware problem on my laptop?
Another small issue that monitor does not remember brightness for battery mode.

Please dont be mad at me but firstly I would not speak about problems if you use the Linux on the Toshiba notebook. Fact is that Linux is not supported and therefore some notebooks features could not function correctly.
Regarding the battery led;
The LEDs are controlled by BIOS. As you know the notebook was equipped with Vista and therefore the BIOS support Vista.
As I said above, if you will use another OS like XP or possibly Linux then some features could not function correctly.
