Webcam Problem

Hi everyone. I'm new here so don't know I should post my problem here or not
I'm having trouble with my built in cam on LENOVO N500.
My camera software is not detecting any camera.
When I go to Device Manager, its drivers are not there.
There is nothing is "Other Drivers" and no "to be installed driver"
It also not showing up in "Devices and Printers"
When I directly install camera drivers, it says no camera detected.
My System Specifications are:-
Lenovo N500 2.16 GHz
2 GB ram
Windows 8 Pro
Please help

The Lenovo 3000 N500 unfortunately isn't on the Lenovo site for Win 8 capable systems, it would therefore be reasonable to assume that Lenovo probably will not release a driver themselves due to the systems age.
Your best bet would probably be to identify the camera through it's device ID and then visit the manufacturer's site to see if they offer a Win 8 compatible driver.  In the mean time, with a little luck, someone may come along who has succeeded in getting the camera to work on an N500 with Win 8.

  • Dv6-1030us Webcam Problem

I have a dv6-1030us computer and it seems since I installed Vista Service Pack 2 the built in webcam works intermittently.  (I noticed the problem too long after I installed SP2, so I have no easy route back to SP1) Most of the time it simply doesn't work; when you open the HP MediaSmart webcam program, your hear the sound of a usb device unplugging and get an alert that the "Connection to the video device was lost".  If you check device manager the webcam still shows up as there and I don't see anything else missing.
Occasionally  - and I have not been able to reproduce a chain of actions that are repeatable to help solve the problem - the camera does work.  Probably less than 5% of the time.  I have called customer service and they said other people are reporting a similar problem, but I have yet to see anyone post.  I am wondering if I simply have a hardware failure with the camera.  I have updated all drivers and have the latest bios version f.24.  Any suggestions?

I've had this laptop for two years without a webcam problem. Upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. My webcam stopped working. If I go into HP MediaSmart Webcam it shows an image for a few seconds and then it loses its connection. I can't get it to work in the latest version of Skype anymore. It's not even an option to choose from. The only option is a Cyberlink webcam filter that I've never noticed as an option before.  Any suggestions?

    Windows 7, 64 bit.
I have never been able to use my built-in webcam.  I have installed the latest Youcam drivers and still an error message - "No webcam detected, if you are using an integrated camera make sure that it is turned on".
I have also followed instructions on this website - I have gone to Device manager and "scan for hardware changes" but I never get an icon for "imaging" hardware.
I know the computer has the hardware as my parents have an IDENTICAL computer - bought from the same shop at the same time!
    Please help!

    Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps might help you to fix the issue.
    Fixing Webcam Problems in Windows
Testing a Webcam With MediaSmart in Windows
If both these links does not work then you might have to call HP Techincal support and get the part replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.

  • L655-S5096 Webcam Problem

    Hello,
    I own a Toshiba L655-S5096 (It has a chicony USB 2.0 built-in webcam).
I hadn't used it for quite a while after I purchased it in 2010.
Recently I tried using skype on my laptop, but it said that it couldn't detect any webcam.
I thought maybe the drivers have been obsolete or removed by mistake due to whatever reason, so I tried installing a fresh version of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (downloaded from microsoft website / geniune), and then different version of the Toshiba Web Camera Application (V2.0.3.37 and v1.1.1.15), as I found them in support.toshiba.com.
The problem is that first I was able to install it, and with the application, the webcam worked showing my picture and the blue light on the webcam was on too.
However, then I thought I can use it in skype, so what I did was I installed skype (latest version, and in the mean time windows did some automatic updates), and once I opened skype and I tried to make a video call, the webcam just stopped working and there was a noise as if you plug out a usb device.
From this moment onwards, whenever I try to use the webcam (I tried reinstalling the driver / removing skype / etc.) I just hear USB plug in noise and then the blue webcam LED blinks really fast and I hear the USB plug out sound.
I have tried everything I could, so I would be really appreciated if you guys can provide me with some information.

Hi ! Sense no one is repling, I'll offer my advice. Others my reply with better advice latter!

Why would you do some thing like the above to preform a clean install when Toshiba offers you two options to restore back to out of the box(factory). I suggest you restore back to factory. You can get the recovery media here. I suggest the USB

  • Webcam problem with Thinkpad L530 running Windows 8

    Hi,
I have a L530 running windows 8.  I'm trying to activate the webcam with Skype.  Skype doesn't recognize the webcam.  I went into the Start "page" in windows 8 and use the "Camera" win 8 app.  The app displays a big camera with a diagonal line going across it, which to me meaning that the Camera app has problem using the camera.
I've gone into the controll panel/Device manager checking for Integrated Camera.  The device status says "This device is working properly".  The driver version is 1.0.0.19.
I'm not sure what to do.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  thanks.

    Hi, whto
This sounds like the camera is set to Private mode, which is a security feature to block the camera from any potential hackers. To change this setting, go to the Lenovo Settings metro app and open it. There should be camera settings in here. Select the camera and make sure the camera is not set to Private.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Webcam problem with flash player

    Hi,
I am using flash v10.3.181.26 on a win7 machine with IE9, and trying to make it work with a virtual webcam (a directshow filter in the video capture category). I notice that the available formats are enumerated (I420 352x288 , RGB32 352x288 ) by flash player by making calls to the getstreamcaps function. Then it tries to make a connection using RGB32 320x240 by making a call to setformat. The structure it passes to that function has an inconsistent field (bytesize). I checked this by calculation, as well as trying other apps. Can you please verify this..? I can provide more details if required.
PS.: Apologies In case this is not the correct forum to discuss this, please let me know
    Thanks

In the GetStreamCaps function in my code, for the RGB32 format I had provided it the values filled in based on the default (RGB32 352x288). So, in the AM_MEDIA_TYPE structure, lSampleSize is 405504, and in BITMAPINFOHEADER, the biSizeImage is also the same. I also provided the min resolution as 320x240 and max as 352x288, with a granularity of 16x16.
so, it decides to take 320x240 as the resolution and calls my code with SetFormat. In there, I noticed that the BITMAPINFOHEADER's biSizeImage filled is as expected (320*240*32/8), but the lSampleSize of the AM_MEDIA_TYPE is still the same as before (405504). If I store this format now and later give it back in GetFormat, then the flashplayer seems to get messed up (enumerating the media types again, and then calling checkfmediatype with null, and then finally failing in the buffer allocation step while trying to connect). The failure in the buffer allocation pointed me to some possible problem in the bytecount.
If I correct the structure passed to me in the Setformat (i.e. I make both values as expected), then things go fine, the media type in checkmediatype is the same RGB32 320x240, and the buffer allocation succeeds, and the connection succeeds)...

  • Satellite A40,running windows xp,webcam problem

I have a webcam and a fujifilm finepix camera that can be used as a webcam. I cant get either to work on my laptop. When all the software is downloaded and it should start working the screen goes blue with white writing on,I cant read it because the laptop turns off straight away. I have downloaded updates from microsoft and fujifilm, nothing works. I can get them to work on a ordinary pc running Windows Me, but i am wondering if it is a problem with the laptop hardware and not the windows version? Any help gladly received.

    Hi,
you can try to use the differet USB ports. It can be that only one or two Ports can handle a Digicam!
Otherwise you can chck your USB drivers in the Device Manager at Control Panel!
