Webcam streming using QTSS

Hello,
it is possible to setup a webcam streaming using apple QTSS from the server admin?
could some one please guide me through it.

You probably should look into QuickTIme Broadcaster instead. If you have a firewire video source, you can stream using this software. It's free, easy to use and streaming can be scheduled using Applescript and iCal events and alarms. It may take a little experimenting to find the right quality/codec settings but you can save a preset when you get it working and it will work every time. I love QuickTime.... I love QuickTime Broadcaster more!

Webcam being used by another program/Other Person ...

Okay, here's the problem. I just bought a new windows 7 PC and it came preinstaled with Skype. I tested the webcam and everything seemed fine. Then we got a video call from someone that uses an ipod and the video wouldn't work. I looked and it said that my webcam could not be used because another program must be using it. Only thing is, NO OTHER PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING. Not even Explorer or Firefox.
So I decided to do some testing. First I tried downloading it on my Android phone to make sure it wasn't related to an iphone/ipod problem, still doesn't work. Then I double checked to make sure my drivers and software were all updated. Everything is up to date. Then I disabled auto-sign-in on startup in case skype was loading before my webcam driver was, still nothing.Then I tried running in compatability mode for windows xp, Skype freezes and wont even start. Now I'm officially out of ideas
So to sum it up. When I start skype, and go to video, my webcam will work, but as soon as someone tries calling, they can't see any video. I'll list all my stats below. This is very frustrating because this is the same webcam that I was using on an older computer that recently gave me problems, so I bought an entirely new computer and it works great, but now skype won't work. Why can't this stuff ever be simple?

4 GB of RAM

Webcam is designed to work with windows 7
Webcam software and drivers are all up-to-date
Webcam worked with Skype on windows XP just a week ago
Webcam works with other programs NONE OF WHICH are ever running in the background. Double, no Tripled checked. No messenger, Oovoo, Explorer, Firefox, Yahoo, or anything.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? This is really important to me. We recently moved out of state and this is the only way we can see my family. Thank you in advance for any help.

I am also having the same subject problem. When I go to Tools->Options->Video settings the video stream is OK. So what interfering software is running during a video call that is not running when I check the video settings? I have included some thoughts and observations below.
My webcam device name in Windows is: USB Video Device. The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3. SKYPE version is 5.9.0.115. Webcam is Logitech C210 and I am using the Microsoft USB video device driver, not the Logitech drivers. I have uninstalled the other Logitech software a long time ago.
When I open My Computer in Windows and click on “USB Video Device” the USB Video Device window opens with webcam preview video displayed as long as no other programs are using the webcam. If SKYPE is running and producing video (Tools->Options->Video settings), instead of good video displayed on the USB Video Device window I get the Windows video error message shown below.

Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or user.”
Similarly, If I start SKYPE (Tools->Options->Video settings)with no other programs running that use the webcam I get good video. However, if I start the Windows USB Video Device preview video before I start the SKYPE video, I get the SKYPE video error message shown below that indicates that SKYPE can’t start the video.

“Can’t start video. Try closing other programs that might be using your webcam.”
While this little experiment is completely expected, I have been getting the SKYPE video error message when I try to make video calls. Just before the call, Tools->Options->Video settings results in a good, solid video stream. During the call I can see and hear my contact but my contact can only hear me. The SKYPE video error message appears. The webcam icon shows a red diagonal line through it. My contact can very briefly see me when I click on the webcam icon temporarily removing the red diagonal line. But then SKYPE returns to the error state.
As far as I could tell no other applications were running that could conflict with SKYPE and result in this error condition! Does anyone have any additional suggestions for identifying the interfering software or application? Or is there some other reason this particular SKYPE video error message occurs?

P.S.: It’s too bad the SKYPE program can’t provide some diagnostic clue to help the user identify the offending application software.

Is it possible to connect your webcam to use in the program?

Is it currently possible to use ex. your webcam inside Adobe Flash professional Cs6 (or later) to snap pictures directly to the key frames instead of manually importing pictures you've taken in another program.stopmo
This could be useful for animating stop motion and later add an layer where on top of this where you can draw lip sync etc.
If this feature currently isn't available is there any plugin/extension able which provides this?help!

flash pro can't use your webcam directly, but you can use flash to create an app that creates bitmaps of webcam pictures.
i don't think that will be any more helpful for you than using some other program to create webcam bitmaps, but that's all you can expect from flash pro and your webcam.

Best webcam to use for Facetime on a Mac Mini?

Long story short, my mother's PC bought it last night and after many years of trying to convince her, I'm going to order a Mac Mini for her to use. She wants to use Facetime with it, however, as her friends have iPads and whatnot. I have always relied on my built-in iSight cameras from my iMacs, so I have no idea what a good 3rd party camera is. Without suggesting I track down a used iSight on eBay or whatnot, what are the best webcams currently available on the market that use Lion (most recent update) and are available to use with Facetime?
I have been told that Logitech has one (c910), but I can't seem to find verification that it supports Facetime on Lion, as most of the reviews I have found are from 2010 and early 2011.

USB Webcam when using Bootcamp to run WindowsXP?

Is it possible to use an external webcam, e.g., Logitech's, and able to use it on the iMac running WindowsXP with Bootcamp?
I'm planning to use it with MSN Messanger 7.5. Thanks. I just wish that Microsoft will come out with a crossplatform Messanger where I can use my iSight (the built in webcam on my iMac) to video chat.

My old webcam some time last year stopped working one day and complained that another program was using it, i exited as many processes as i could to see if it would work, it did not. i tried reinstalling, i tried going in safe mode, i tried updating, i tried different usb ports, i tried unistalling 00s of programs, I GAVE UP! I just got another webcam today, (Creative Li've Cam Video IM Pro) and hoped that it would work, same problem, another program is using it, both of the webcams work on my other pc, any ideas how to fix this problem!?!?

This didn't solve, but it helped me.
The problem was in Preferences -> Audio -> Devices.
The option "Software Monitoring" was disabled. I enabled it and now everything is ok!

How to view live webcam that use windows media player and java

I am new to iphone and I have two live webcams that I like to go to and can't get either one on my iphone 3gs. www.ruidoso.net, view live webcam link and www.skiapache.com live webcam link. How can I get to them?? oram I just out of luck.

You've got to remember that, as powerful as the iPhone is, it's not a desktop computer. So certain things that have been designed for desktop computers may not work the same or at all. The owners of those websites probably never considered anyone wanting to view them on a phone.
The first webcam you can view on your iPhone by going to http://www.ruidosowebcam.com/camera0.jpg and manually refreshing the page to update the view. (The Java applet just refreshes the page, something they could easily have done in JavaScript for increased compatibility).
The second one I can't help with, as that one doesn't even work on my desktop computer, but WMV is a proprietary video format from Microsoft, which the iPhone doesn't play. You'd have to ask the website owners to use a more industry standard video format that the iPhone can play.

Dark webcam when using the MSN on Satellite Pro notebook

Guys ... My built in cam in my Satellite Pro laptop seems working fine when I open it .. But when I use it with MSN Messenger its always dark... I mean if I set it on night mood it would work with the cam software but not with MSN.
What should i do !!

If you use the MSN the webcam software shouldnt be started and should not run!!!
Disable the webcam software in msconfig. The webcam software should not start automatically while booting the notebook.
Also the MSN shouldnt load. Disable it also in msconfig.

Webcam access using applet

Hi guys,
I wanna create an applet that just takes a snapshot image from the user's webcam in clientside,
so I wouldn't like to tell the user to install JMF(java media framework) first on clientside.
Does anyone know if it's possible to access the webcam from a standard JRE, if yes than how without using JMF?
Any link or anything else would be greatly appreciated, since anything I found on the net was based on JMF...

I have already done a software to distribute that had to use a webcam to take pictures. Since I didnt want the client to install JMF, I reused some classes from JMFregistry to install it from my own software.
Then, inside my software there was a button "Check for web devices". After running that option once, everything was ok to use the webcam. Of coarse I had to bundle the JMF together.

Webcam problems using Messenger Live

I've just purchased a new S10-2 running Windows 7. When I've come to use the webcam to talk to my son using Windows Live Messenger I find that messenger displays my webcam video OK, however my son can't see or hear anything. The volume on the mic is turned up to full. His picture shows a pic of a webcam with a red cross through it, no video although I can hear him talking. I know his webcam is working, if I boot up my desktop everything is OK we can both get sound and video.
Anyone any ideas how to get this up and running

I have similar problems on an intermittent basis,
which I have always attributed to poor or inconsistent internet
band-width. Is your desktop wired and S10 using wireless?
If so, try your S10 with wired internet.
Or perhaps try a different way.
I've had better experiences using Skype,

Unable to dectek webcam drivers using JMF

I am unable to detect the webcam drivers(civil:\\?\usb#vid_04f2&pid_b119&mi_00#6&18e8659b&0&0000#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global) using JMStudio.
FYI : jmf.properties is already available in the classpath
whereas using FMJ(fmjstudio) am able to detect the webcam drivers. i realized upon having civil.dll in the fmj library path able to detect the webcam drivers sucessfully.
Please suggest how we can take forward using JMF

Mac/pc .... pc erroring saying webcam in use

My daughter's pc has aim installed and we're trying to get ichat working with her aim but though she can see me fine, her computer keeps telling her that her webcam/video is in use by another program. She does have msn messenger on her computer but it is closed. I don't even remember enough about xp to figure out where to tell her the adjustment might need to be made. Any help???

I installed her AIM when I went down there in June so it definately could need updated. My iChat is 3.0.1. She has used her webcam before with either msn or yahoo, I'm not sure which and it worked fine. I have only tried using my iChat with her today with no success. I had tried it before with my son who has a pc running xp and we couldn't get aim to work but got yahoo video to work until he got bandwidth problems (some error I read about on here). Hence, I have never gotten to video/audio chat using my iSight and won't know if all of it works right until we get her running. We're going to try adjusting her msn settings so it won't autolaunch (it had but then we closed it), unplug her webcam, reconnect and restart.
