Webcam with emesene 1.5

emesene 1.5 have been launched recently with experimental suppor for webcam...
I don't have cam but I have tried to receive a cam in a conversation with a offical MSN peer.... but with no success.
Does anybody know how to configure it to receive video? I have been searching in the emesene forums and I have only found that it's necessary to install the libmimic library. I have installed it from AUR repo but it's doesn't work. These are the strange messages it writes out to console
Got ReflData, connect to reflector?
** Webcam canceled?
any idea? thanks in advance.

thanks all of you for your help.
to pressh: yes, I installed libmimic from community, but as you said it's not valid.
to tehsis: I have installed gstreamer0.10-python and now it seems to show the webcam configuration tab in preferences. These are good news.
to forkboy: aMSN is a great app, but ugly (Tcl/Tk kit is getting better, but still no so polished as GTk). Anyway, some time ago I tried it with my cam working but the sound was out of sync an the video was stopping all the time. I will try it again to see the latest improvements.

  • How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac?

How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac? I just bought this webcam on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJE0ISS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF 8&psc=1 and I want to use it with my mac. Is there an adapter or any software to make it compatible? Thanks.

Your amazon link states, in part, that this webcam is:
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7,Vista, XP, 2000
Use a Mac OS X Compatible Webcam like one of those shown in the linked article instead.
For best compatibility and security, also update your OS X Mavericks (10.9.2) to the current OS X version by restarting Mac and then downloading and installing OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).

  • Streaming Webcam with media server and cs3

Can someone explain how to stream a webcam with media server?
Ive got media server and flash cs3 (actionscript 2.0 in this
case) installed, and I want to create a live webcam stream, but Im
not really sure how to do it. I know it involves NetStream, and
camera somewhere along the line but thats about it. If someone coul
give me an iea of how to o it that owul be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Clockwork_Killa,
I don't use it with webcams, but there are some nice examples
in William Sanders book, Actionscript 3.0 Design Patterns. It's the
only book I've found that has any real world examples of working
with media in Flash with fms2.
Hope it helps. Good luck. You're going to need it ;)

  • Trying to converse thru webcams with PC user

I am using a mac IbookG4 laptop- my boyfriend has a dell PC laptop. I have the Isight webcam with microphone built into it. We can't reach a connection to each other, I am using IChat and he is using AIM. We can send invitations to each other, but when i get one from him and hit accept, nothing happens. A message appears that says "andra king (me) has failed to respond." Can anyone please help me and let me know what the problem could be? Thank you
    -Andra

    Hello -Andra,
As already recommended, you will find many of your answers in the iChat AV Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
I am one of the testers listed in the Want to Test your iSight With Another Person? FAQ.
I do video with PCs from my Mac/iChat AV/iSight almost every day. It works well for most of us the first time and with varying amounts of trials, configuration, and setup effort for others. A very few cannot ever make it work. Those cases are rare, though, so try all the suggestions you can find. You will most likely be successful.
For additional info and my best suggestions about video with PCs, see Mac Video Chat with PCs.
My suggestions cover the entire range, so some may not apply to you, but try ALL that you do not KNOW they are not a part of your problem. There are suggestions in there for your PC pals to apply, too.
If you are new to iChat or iSight, be sure to consider the other suggestions linked there, like those in Using iSight with iChat AV. For instance, as recommended there, you should
    b immediately
update to Mac OS X (10.3.9). It resolves many significant issues with older versions, including (10.3.3), which you report using.
    Both you
    b and your chat buddies
should try connecting with several others to determine whose system is causing the problems. There is no need to try things at both ends unless you know that both ends have problems.
If you try some of the suggestions offered here and encounter more specific questions, we will be happy to try to provide more specific answers based on your new information.

  • Has anyone used this cool WebCam with a Mac yet?

i'm in the market for a webcam for my new mac pro. i'm looking for the very best one out there. i ran into this WebCam called "aGent V4 HD". It looks awesome! Its a 3MP HD WebCam that comes with a desk mount and LCD mount. But its sold out of Australia. I was wondering if anyone has used it with osx 10.5.6.
    here's a link:
    http://agent.liquiddigital.com.au/index.htm

I've just taken delivery of one of these and have to say that, a few glitches aside, I'm pretty impressed. It looks quite sexy and gives a great quality picture that has been commented on by all Skype correspondents who hitherto were used to my looking like a bowl of porridge.
It comes with 3 useful mounting devices including a great grappling hook looking thing which will hang on top of my 30" cinema display but I actually prefer to have it on the floor stand at head height otherwise the angle is a bit high from all the way up there.
The only disappointment for me is that I cannot seem to get the internal mic working. Fortunately it does come with a clip on mic which does work when plugged in via the USB gizmo but the built in cam mic just won't play for me.
I wonder if I'm missing something because I have an older webcam with a built in mic which again I have never had any joy with.
Any useful suggestions in this point gratefully received!

  • Can I find a webcamera with wideangle?

I use a cheap Manhattan webcamera for Skype, which so far is good enough.
But I would like to have a camera with a wider angle, so two persons can be in the picture at the same time.
Can anybody tell me if such a camera exist?

  • Not able to use webcam with 1.0 USB

Is there any way to use a webcam with only 1.O USB ports? I have the 1Gh emac which does not have the one 2.0 port and the "mac friendly" image webcam I have requires 2.0. I have seen on other discussions that it is not possible to upgrade this machine with a pci card. What is my solution to this. Are there other cameras that work on 1.0 with macs?

OSX does not support much other webcam's then the iSight.
    Use this Application:
    http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/
Now you can connect all these webcam's (and many other's):
    http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/index.php
This is the best and only solution!
Hopefully this is helpfull or solved your problem. Consider rewarding some points!

  • Can't run the webcam with MAX and LV12

    Hi,
I would like to configure and run a webcam via Measurement & Automation Explorer and Labview 2012.
I am working in windows 7 Ultimate (64bits).
    Labview: 2012 (32bits) V 12.0f3
    MAX: V5.3.3f2
    Vision Acquisition Software: 2011
I installed Labview 2012 without issue. Then i installed Vision Acquisition Sofware 2011 to have the library neccesary for the webcam. But, before the end of the installation. I got this error screen ( see bellow Windows_Firewall_Might_Be_Enabled.jpeg): WARNING: Windows Firewall Might Be Enabled. So, i tried to turn OFF, turn ON my Windows Firewall. I have still had the same error screen even if I tried to reinstall Vision.
    Any ideas about this issue?
Then I ran Measurement & Automation Explorer, go to Devices and Interfaces and NI-IMAQdx Devices. I can see my webcam ( Logitech HD Webcam C270). Double click on it. And i have the first error screen :cwimaq Errors loading control. The default settings for the control will be used. Then this error message: cwimaq Error creating default control. And i have a Unexpected Error (see picture bellow). I tried couple times to restart the computer. But It is still the same issue. So, I really don't know why it is doing that. Any ideas?
And when I run Labview and try to go in propreties of Vision Acquisition Express: Labview displayed : Unable to view properties. So I can't use my webcam with Labview for the moment. Furthermore, I downloaded ni_imaq_usb_installer_86 to get the  good library for the usb.
    Thanks for helping me,
    Best regards,
    Francois

  • Detection problem on HP webcam with JMF

    Hi,
I'm trying NyARtoolkit and I need to use the video stream of my HP's webcam encrusted above the screen of my laptop (a HP Pavillon tx 2670ef)
After the installation of JMF, I lunch JMStudio and I manage tu detect my webcam in : File->Preferences->Capture Devices->detect capture devices.
Then i close the windows and i do File->Capture...->I enable "use video device" and unable "use audio device" then i click on "OK" but aftewards i have an error message saying that JMF couldn't initialize the capture device...
2 students with me have the same pb...
I made some researches about this issue and i found this post
    http://72.5.124.102/thread.jspa?messageID=10177842
Afterwards I've installed ManyCam and i managed to get a video capture from the virtual webcam simulated with ManyCam.
In fact, when i click on detect capture devices in JMStudio, a windows appears and i can choose "ManyCam Virtual Webcam" instead of "HP webcam".
Moreover, in the options before capturing video, the encoding is in RVB instead of YUV before with the "HP webcam".
But when i run my program i have this error :
    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0 >= 0
         at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Unknown Source)
         at jp.nyatla.nyartoolkit.jmf.utils.JmfCaptureDeviceList.getDevice(JmfCaptureDeviceList.java:80)

         at J3DJME.NyARJava3D.main(NyARJava3D.java:76)
I tried many other things (Quicktime with QTcap... but i didn't managed to solve this pb yet)
Coud you help to use my webcam with jmf ?
    josy

You probably want to remove the crust from your web cam if you expect it to work. Most things that are encrusted aren't in the best of shape...
JMF connects to web cameras by wrapping around native interfaces. If the JMStudio isn't able to use your web cam, it could mean a number of things...your web cam isn't compliant with the version of the interfaces (VFW and DirectShow, I believe) that JMF is wrapping around, the web cam doesn't output any formats JMF can use, etc.
But if JMStudio can't use your web cam sucessfully, 99% of the time that means your web cam isn't going to work with JMF... unless you want to code support for it yourself.

  • I need a webcam with a microphone--any suggestions?

I have a dual 1 GHz G4 Mac (with USB 1.1 and firewire 400) running the latest version of Leopard and can't seem to find a webcam with built-in mic that I am confident will work with it for iChat and Skype. I read in the forums here that UVC cameras will work, but my understanding is they require USB 2.0. Is that correct? If you know of a camera that will work with my Mac, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
    thanks!

    Hi-
My Logitech Quickcam Ultra works well with Leopard, and works in Tiger with Skype as well. iChat "works" in Tiger, but iChat in Leopard is very smooth- really works.
USB 2.0 is a requirement of most USB cams, and USB 2.0 funtionality can be added with a NEC chipset USB 2.0 PCI card.
There are firewire cameras available, as well, though I have no personal experience with them.

  • USB Webcam with USB1

My father-in-law has an eMac with USB1 and Firewire 400 ports. We want to get him a webcam so that he can ichat with video with the grandchildren. He is running OS 10.4.9 so has the latest iChat AV software.
Assuming that we get him a webcam with UVC support I have two questions:
    - will a USB webcam work at all with USB1 port without additional software?
    - if it will not work, what are our other options?
    Thanks

    Hi Dsgray,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
I have been looking around on this and can not find a specific answer.
The closest seems to be this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB that talks about classes before it talks about speed.
Whether anyone makes a Specific USB 1.1 Video cam would be a different question.
