Webcenter 11g Tutorial: Building portlets and wiring them fails at step 6

I'm running through the WebCenter Tutorial. I've done everything up to this point. I've created the portlet, checked the view.jsp works, and registered it as a WSRP producer in my tutorial application.
Step 6 asks me to drag and drop the portlet from the resource palette onto my page. This works, except when I run the page I get portlet unavailable on the generated page.
The only thing I can think of is that the portlet deployment is being stopped when the tutorial app is being deployed - so I can't run then both at the same time, but that's me guessing from the error messages. Can anyone help?
In JDev it says the following:
[Another instance of the application is running on the server.  JDeveloper redeploy the application.]

  • Webcenter 11g tutorial

    Hi,
I would like to follow the webcenter 11g tutorial which stands in the oracle fusion middleware 11g documentation library.
For this tutorial you need to have sample tutorial files. In the tutorial there is this link http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/files/webcentertutorialcontent_11120.zip, but this link doesn't work anymore.
Does anyone have another link where I can download the tutorial files?

  • WebCenter 11g Tutorial - webcenter schema required locally?

    Hi,
I recently installed WebCenter 11g on a linux 64bit server - this included installing WebLogic 10.3.2, an 11g database with the webcenter schemas installed and the webcenter domain under WLS (WLS_Portlet, WLS_Services & WLS_Spaces servers).
I've started going through the WebCenter tutorial (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/prepare.htm). The steps to setting up the tutorial state that a webcenter schema must be installed.
I'm slightly confused now. As I've installed schemas as part of the original WebCenter install, do I need to install another schema or are these tables the same?? Checking through the install script described in the tutorial, I see it creates tables with the same name as those created on the original install but some tables referred to in the install script don't actually exist in the tables of the original install.
Can someone clear up the relationship between the webcenter schema tables mentioned in the tutorial and the schemas installed as part of the webcenter install.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

  • Report Builder 8 and MX7?

Does anyone know if you can generate reports using Report
Builder 8 and have them work in CFMX 7? There are times when I'll
need to work in MX7 still and would rather not have to make two
copies of a report to work in the different environments. Also
Report Builder 8 seems so much more stable than Report Builder
    7.

    Hi Asam,
If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a
query” to get available values. For more details, please see:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283107.aspx

  • Portal Survey builder portlet

    Hi!
Portal 9.0.4.1 Survey works ok. What troubles me, what privileges must a user have to be able to use survey builder portlet? So far i've found out that PORTAL_ADMINISTRATORS can do that. But this group has way to much privileges in portal to be used for some user only for building surveys. My questions is? Is there a way to create a portal user group that has privileges to use the survey builder portlet - and only that? I've tried to assign "manage" privileges to portlet DB provider in "providers" navigator... no success.
    Regards,
    Mihael

    Hi MIHAEL,
I ran into the same problem and after researching on Metalink I found that this is a somewhat documented internal bug, with no work around or fix available.
You can find info by searching this bug number on the Metalink forum - [Bug:2907863]
Here are some excerpts from Metalink:
"The fix for the bug would require either forcing a refresh of the Portlet Repository at the end of an upgrade - which is very undesireable - or reworking the way the Survey system provides security which would be a very extensive and hazardous change.
This bug is not feasible to fix.
Fix by:10.0 version. not yet released"
    Hope this helps...

  • Oracle UCM 10gr3 and webcenter 11g, WCM Portlets

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle UCM 10gR3, Site Studio 10gR4 and Webcenter 11g. Now my problem is how to get the WYSIWIG (WCM Portlet) created in UCM to be retrieved in webcenter spaces.
My understanding after reading some articles is the only way i can communicate is through WSRP (CIS and CPS), if that is the case can u suggest what is the difference between them and which one is best one for a Intranet Application. Please also provide the example for the portlet and the steps to install them locally.
i not asking to give all the answers at a time. Just share bit by bit even if u have some knowledge.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep.
    I am a Newbie!!!

    Hey Pradeep,
You have lots of options for retrieving content from UCM in WebCenter besides CIS and by extension CPS. The best article on the subject can be found here (if you haven't already read it): http://blogs.oracle.com/fusionecm/2010/04/oracle_ucm_integration_with_we.html
To more directly answer your questions the difference between CIS and CPS is that CIS is the lower level API that actually does the communication with UCM. It serializes your request across the socket and handles the response data that comes back packaging it up as easy to use objects. CPS leverages CIS as its backend to allow the portlets to communicate with UCM.
For an intranet application you have lots of options. For document management I would recommend a combination of the Document Library taskflow along with a couple of the CPS portlets (my workflow assignments, etc). To retrieve content to display as part of an intranet "site" I would leverage the Content Presenter taskflow.
If the content to be retrieved is Site Studio 10gr4 assets I would instead recommend that you roll your own simple content portlets. That is what we ended up doing at Fishbowl and have reused them to great affect implementing several intranet portals for different customers in a very short amount of time. • Coordination Between Portlets Across Pages - Webcenter 11g

I am trying to create JSR 286 portlets with Webcenter and configure IPC with it. I am trying to connect portlet A with portlet B, with portlet A on page one and portlet B on page two.
After some research I know other containers like Webspere and Liferay can be configured to perform IPC across different pages. http://developers.sun.com/portalserver/reference/techart/jsr286/jsr286_3.html
Does anybody know if this is possible with Webcenter 11g? I was able to get IPC working with Portlet A and Portlet B on the same page.

    Hoque,
My tutorial will show how IPC works for portlets on the same page but not over different pages.
There are a few remarks before building such a page flow... Portlets are designed to be independent from the portlet. They shouldn't be tightly coupled with the portal. When you want to communicate over pages, you create tightly coupled portlets which is completly against the basic principles of portlets...
If you want to build a flow like this, you definitly can do this. The easiest way is when both portlets are from the same producer. All portlets from the same producer share the same session which means that you can use this to put values on the producer session.
In order to respect the portlet interopability ideas, you should expose an event instead of navigation to a different page from within the portlet. The event will be triggered by the portal and the portal will navigate to the next page.
By doing this, you don't really have a tight coupling because you just expose an event and the portal decides to navigate to another page upon that event.

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

    DefaultServer startup time: 121552 ms.
    DefaultServer started.
In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:20:49 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • How to create portlet pages in oracle webcenter 11g?

    Hi all,
currently we are using an application with oracle web portal 10g server. Is it possible to do migration all portlet pages 10g portal to 11g webcenter ?
and please clarify how to create a portlet page in webcenter 11g?
    Regards
    Nagarajan

    Hi Nagarajan,
In webcenter there is no concept of portlets. Here you need to have all the portlets as WSRP.
So in a jist, you need to expose your current portlets as WSRP and the same should be consumed in webcenter portal pages.
    Hope this make things clear.

  • Building Portlets Declaratively tutorial (web service as data source)

[I mistakenly posted this on the Portal Applications forum earlier.]
I'm going through the Building Portlets Declaratively tutorial. In the Creating a Portlet Using a Web Service as a Data Source section, I enter the WSDL URL and click the Show Parameters button, and no parameters are returned, as expected. I then click the Next button to go to the Filter page. The Column dropdown list contains only the <none> and ERROR items. I returned to the previous page and clicked the Test button. This is the result:
    <ns1:getEmpXMLResponse xmlns:ns1="oracle.ws.scott.OTNDeptEmp" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://xml.apache.org/xml-soap/literalxml" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <return>
    <ERROR>
    oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=168821760)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))
    </ERROR>
    </return>
    </ns1:getEmpXMLResponse>
I get the same response when I use this page to test getEmpXML: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/webservices/hostedservices_index.html
Is there a different service that I should now be calling (i.e., is OTNDeptEmp.getEmpXML no longer available?)?
    Thanks.
    Larry

  • Portlet 2.0 Support in WebCenter 11g

Will there any support of portlet 2.0 (JSR 286) in WebCenter 11g?

According to the current plans, we will have support for WSRP 2.0, which addresses most of the limitations of the portlet 1.0 spec (JSR 168).

  • Problem with oracle webcenter 11g installation and configuration

I have installed weblogic and webcenter successfully. After that I have configured the webcenter by creating new domain using configuration wizard . Three managed servers created for spaces, services and portlets and able to bring up. The problem is webcenter and other service related applications are in failed state. In server stage no ear or war files related to these applications. So unable to access webcenter spaces. Only weblogic console and webcenter enterprise manager can be accessed. No clue from installation document.
Is anything to do to make it to active state?
    Edited by: user10303069 on Oct 7, 2009 12:18 AM

Problem solved. Simply two more steps required. First, In the nodemanager.properties Edit as StartScriptEnabled=true and start the node manager and then Admin server. Second step is start the WLS_Spaces managed server from webcenter Enterprise Manager. Now spaces is accessible.

  • How to install and work with oracle webcenter 11g

    Hi
Will please guide how to install and work on oracle webcenter11g, i am fresher in oracle that's why. so please guide me
    Regards
    Rajesh P

In order to create and develop a webcenter portal application, you only need to install JDeveloper and download the WeBCenter extensions. That's true.
But this install does not include the WebCenter services like dicussions, document services, analytics,... If you want to use these and integrate them in your portal, then you would need to install the suite as described on my blog.
