Webcenter installation

One of my friends also install webcenter suite 11g to windows 2003. He installs oracle 10.2.0.4. He can install rcu and weblogic 11g.
However, in the step of UCM Installation Progress, the installation stops at 99%. The window becomes white and no error message is showed.
No error message is written in log.
In the start manual, the webcenter, weblogic, and content server has been added. However, the webcenter cannot be uninstalled from his computer.

I am also looking for any documentation in relation to installing webcenter onto an existing installation. I checked the links and I couldnt find anything relating to doing this. Anyone else had any luck?

This error i got while installing webcenter(11.1.1.5.0) on Windows 64bit, this error coming at "Installation Location" screen level.
Pls anybody advice me on the same what steps should I take to move forward my installation successfully as it is urgent base at my level.
Here im putting my installtion location details for Middleware "C:\Oracle\Middleware", and for weblogic "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3"
Pls share ur suggestions at your earliest.

Webcenter installation Linu machine and oracle database

Hi,
Oracle webcenter isntallation is not going beyond 73% on linux machine after database pings, access level and content server hello servlet returns success. No entry in sites.log file as well. database tables are not created .

WebCenter Installation Problems

Hi,
I'm trying to install WebCenter on windows at the minute. Previously, the installer started up and ran through to the section for selecting weblogic servier and entering a home directory. At that stage, the installer told me that my version of weblogic was not up to date enough. Now, after installing 10.3.4.0, when I run setup.exe and enter my jre location, nothing further happens! The main installer doesn't load up and there appears to be nothing about any errors in the log.
Anybody encounter this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently installed Web Center and used WLS 10.3.3 which did fine
Try download wls1033_oepe111150_win32.zip and extract and run the installer.
The first time it failed, due to incorrectly using JDK 1.5 for the installation - when minimum is JDK 1.6. Verify java_home is 1.6
The second time it stopped abruptly, it was due to lack of memory for the installer itself, try:
java -Xmx1024m -jar installer.jar

Deploying wsrp-samples.ear fails during WebCenter installation

I am trying to install WebCenter 10.3.2 on a RHEL 4 box. Actually it is a VMWare
image, but I don't think it has to do something about VMWare. I'll try to reproduce it
in a native Linux, but currently it is not an option.
I am doing an "advanced" installation, OHS+WebCenter. At the last phase, in the
Oracle WebCenter Configuration assistant, when it tries to install wsrp-samples,
the installation fails with
java.io.IOException: Cannot allocate memory
error. At the end of this post you can see the relevant part from the installation log
file.
BTW, OC4J_WebCenter instance is up, there is plenty (>1 GByte) free memory.
I've tried to install the EAR file through the EM manually, get the same error.
Checked if the EAR (and the WAR) unzips correctly, no error there. Got another
wsrp-samples.ear - from a successfull installation - it fails here! Checked
OC4J's log files (diagnostic log), but I don't gen any more information.

Thanks for your suggestions, what you've mentioned started me thinking in a new path and here is the solution:
You suggested to start OC4J with specific memory settings, I guess you wanted to say that OC4J needs a lot of memory. Of course it's OPMN, which start OC4J's, so I checked and it turned out, that OC4Js were running with the following parameters:
java -server -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=256m -ms512M -mx1024M ...
I started to play with these parameters (modifying opmn.xml) and suddenly realized that the problem was not that OC4J did not have enough memory, but that it was too eager and requested too much (1024M) from the operating system.
I've changed the values to -ms256m -mx512m and the deployment succeeded!
Of course I still have a couple of open questions:
1) I did have plenty of memore, "free" told me I had 1500M core and 3000M swap. I wonder why requesting -mx1024M was too much. Maybe I hit some Linux hard limit.
2) I was a bit surprised to see -ms.. and -mx, Java documentation gives the syntax as -Xms.. and -Xmx... Obviously both seems to be working.
Thanks again! Now that I understood at least partly what went wrong I consider filing a bug about changing the default config values in the installer.

Oracle WebCenter Installation on Apple Mac OS X 10.6.6

Could anyone tried to install Oracle WebCenter 11G PS3 on Apple Mac OS X (version 10.6.6) 64bit machine? I downloaded Oracle RCU (11.1.1.5.0) utility for linux (file name: ofm_rcu_linux_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip) and tried to run rcu as follows after unzipping it:-
cd RCU_HOME/bin
./rcu
but i got following error:
Current Platform is not supported.
Supported Platforms are : Linux and Windows.
Can anyone do let me know what is the issue?

It depends on what you want to do... If you just want to mess around with WebCenter, download the prebuild VM.
If you want o do some serious development than you should install your own WebCenter VM. Use Oracle Linux and install webcenter/ucm on it. It's just a few hours work. It probably goes faster than when you need to download the prebuild VM :)

Webcenter Installation Linux : domain config : not giving suite components

I have downloaded the webcenter suite with UCM ( under additional components ) and installed on linux, everything ran properly, Webcenter suite installed with proper success message and UCM also but when I am running the configuration wizard to create WCS domain it's not giving me the WC suite applications as expected normally, it's just giving me the prompts as normally we get during weblogic domain configuration, Does anybody have same kind of experience and reason ?

my apologies. I was using the weblogic version prior to 10.x with WCS 11g.

Create a new space in webcenter space, no document option

when I create a new space according to User Guide for WebCenter Space
Step 1: Create a Space
■ Step 2: Add the Logo to the El Piju Space

Issues Consuming ADF portlet in Webcenter

Hi,
We created an ADF page in the portlet producer and created a portlet entry. We used a webcenter consumer to consume the ADF portlet from the portlet producer.
On running the webcenter consumer the page is displayed as desired but on performing any action on the page, a blank JS popup message is displayed. Once this popup message displays nothing else can be performed on the screen and the browser tab has to be closed.
There are no logs at the server level.
The jdeveloper version is :11.1.1.6.0.
Can you please help us with this issue

Hi.
See into Oracle My Support. Remember (don't know exactly) that exists a Portlets problems with version 11.1.1.6 similar to your problem.
Probably you'll need to patch your WebCenter installation to 11.1.1.6.2

Creation of schemas for webcenter

Using rcu, I am trying to create schemas for webcenter.
I have installed 11.1.0.6 database and weblogic server for webcenter installation
on my linux server.
But after providing database connection details,
I am getting error invalid service name, but the service name is correct.
What is the reason?

Best practice metadata export/import for WebCenter portal

I'm using JDeveloper to build the WebCenter portal. When I let's say register a portlet producer along with my portal, the information about it is stored in the metadata. In case I want to move my portal from the integrated WLS which JDeveloper provides to another WebLogic server with WebCenter installation - steps which I need to do are:
1) Export the metadata from JDeveloper
2) Import metadata to my target Weblogic server
3) deploy the application
Am I missing something?
To export/import metadata from JDeveloper to another Weblogic (equipped with WebCenter) server I should use the WLST script, right?

WebCenter Preview

I have an Oracle license and downloaded Oracle 11 Technology Preview 4. I wanted to test the WebCenter functionality. However, I was using the tutorial for 10.1.3.2 and based upon it I do not see the WebCenter functionality. I read the website for Oracle WebCenter Suite and it states that if you do not have a Oracle License Agreement the download will not contain the WebCenter or SOA Previews. How do I download the 11g TP 4 with WebCenter when I have a license? If you could provide a link or further instructions that would help since there neither on the page.
I also click on the Technote 565510.1 for WebCenter installations instructions and I get a MetaLink Network or Page Error.

RCU installation error

Hi, I'm on my way to install UCM(webcenter content) on my local machine. I'v already installed weblogic server 10.3.6 and Oracle DBserver Express edition 11g. But, when I continue with installing RCU, I get the following error when i click on "rcu.bat".. Plz suggest me a workaround.. Did I miss something??

Hi ,
You have a path problem inherent of Windows .
Create a new folder on D:/ and name it rcu
Unzip the rcu.zip to D:/rcu and after that from rcuHome/bin run the rcu.bat file .

SES crawling CDB coming with Webcenter Suite (bug 5851494)

I'm preparing a demo and ran into difficulties crawling a 10.1.3.2 CDB store with SES 10.1.8. I've seen a statement in bug 5851494 whereby CDB 10.1.3.2 ist not supported with a 10.1.8 crawling. I thought that would be helpful to address this topic in the OWCS space since Content DB is used from the WebCenter installation. Can anyone please verify the statement of bug 5851494 ?

currently SES 10.1.8 can only crawl CDB using S2S security. CDB 10.1.3.2 uses web services security (WSS).
we are working on a crawler that is able to use WSS to index CDB.
as an alternative you could use CDB 10.2 which provide S2S and can be crawled by SES 10.1.8.
we will keep you updated.
