WebCenter Portal and Portlet support in JDeveloper 11.1.2 version

Hi,
When the WebCenter Portal and Portlet application creation will be available within JDeveloper 11.1.2 version ?
Thanks
Eli

Thanks for your answer.
My Requirements are:
1) Develope a stand alone ADF FACES(JSF 2.0) application
2) Develope a Portal using webcenter- We need to implement portlets by taking some of the functonality that was implemented in section (1) and use the Portlet-JSF bridge to create the portlets.
Basically, we need to support JSF 2.0 standart.
As I understood I must use the JDeveloper 11.1.2 version as it support the JSF 2.0. but what about the Webcenter and the Portlet-JSF bridge to support JSF 2.0 ?
I will be happy to get a clarification for those requirments.
Thanks a lot !
Eli

  • Webcenter Portal and UCM - Content Presenter Error

    Hello,
I get an error while I'm adding a Content Presenter over the default resource catalog of my webcenter portal application and try to create content.
When pressing the create content button a new browserpage opens and after beeing logged in to the Content Server the cs/resources/wcm/custom/sitestudio/contentwizard/webcenter/contentwizard.hcsp is called and this error message appears as an alert:
"*this placeholder is restricted, but no region definitions have been specified*"
    Thanks for any advice!

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

  • WSSO Porlets - Running a Portal and Portlet servers behind WSSO

Has anyone successfully run a Portal Server and Portlet Server behind WSSO? Specifically, I am running my portal server and portlet server with Oblix NetPoint 6.1.1.13. I have not been able to successfully load a simple html portlet in the portal when trying to access the protected portlet. The errors I am receiving in PTSpy have to do with not being able to establish a secure socket.
Here is the PTSpy log of a single run:TRACE DATE TIME TYPE COMPONENT PROCESS THREAD LOCATION MESSAGE===== ==== ==== ==== ========= ======= ====== ======== =======11211 04-27 11:02:35 Action UI Infrastructure 4044 3204 com.plumtree.uiinfrastructure.activityspace.Interpreter.HandleRequest() Entering handleRequest: GET http://PORTALSERVERNAME:80/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&cached=true&parentname=CommunityPage&parentid=1&in_hi_userid=895402&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=263&PageID=011212 04-27 11:02:35 Warn Common Library 4044 3204 PTCommon.cpp(977) ***SetError *** (0x80044633): Error in CHttpGadgetProvider::raw_GetHTMLText, The Portal Server was not able to retrieve the contents of this portlet. The portlet is redirecting to a resource located outside the gateway space. The portlet's web service needs to be reconfigured to include the missing resource in its gateway space. Please report this error to an Administrator if it persists.
Basically, the error line says that the portlet is redirecting to a resource outside the gateway space. I assume that it is not passing along the WSSO credentials and therefore attempting to redirect to perform the Oblix login. My understanding is that the WSSO credentials are stored within browser cookies. Is there any way to pass along these cookies from the user's browser to the portlet server?

    Hello,
You should import either the server certificate or the root certificate which issued the server certificate in your portal server so portal server can trust the server certificate.

  • WebCenter Portal and WebCenter Sites Integration

We have a client requirement where we need to provide Web Content Management and Portal Solution in Oracle WebCenter product stack.
Contents, Templates and other Content Assets will be created and managed in WebCenter Sites, WebCenter Portal will be used for content delivery (Display content to end user). There is another requirement of content editing from WebCenter Portal; where a set of users will have the right to editing content present in WebCenter Sites.
Is there any available solution for integrating WebCenter Sites and WebCenter Portal to fulfill above requirements?

The best available info is in this thread: Integrating webcenter sites content in to Webcenter portal

  • Portal and Portlet best practice...

    Hello All,
We're just at the start of next gen Portal project. We've selected Oracle Portal for our solution, jdev, the whole thing.
Last year an application was developed in our organization using Oracle Portal. In this application, the user interface is divided up into many portlets. i.e. the menu bar is it's own portlet, the content area is multiple portlet depending on what part of the application you're in.
My question is, is this considered the best pratice for developing interoperable portals? We will have several differing web applications consolidated into one portal interface when this process is over.
However, that said, does it make sense to seperate all of a site's functionality out into atonomous portlets?
Or should a web application, with workflow in this case be consolidated into one portlet, that is configurable?

    Hi!
I don't think that complex applications should be developed in portlet manner.
Portlets are very simple small applications.
You can place them anywere on your portal.
My opinion is if you have to build a complex applications, then it should be implemented with JHeadstart or some other framework.
You can place the login link of this application on Portal that opens a new window.

  • JDeveloper setup steps for pdk java and portlet container - ver 10.1.2

    Hi fellows,
Can someone please point to some really not-confusing guide to setting up pdk java and portlet containers on jdeveloper 10.1.2.
Problem is, I went through several documentation links and they keep pointing around to steps that are followed if you wish to have a stand-alone OC4J. JDeveloper 10.1.2 also had a preconfigured OC4J with it. I wish to make use of that and configure it for Oracle Portal editings for version 10.1.2.
    thank you for your help.

I have some documentation that I tried following:
For PDK-Java installation, here is the link to documentation.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/installing-089002.html
However, what is confusing is what to do if you just wish to use the preconfigured OC4J container that comes with Jdeveloper 10.1.2.
Experts, can you please clear this out please?
    Thanks!

  • Page navigation same portal different portlet applications

    Hello OTN,
I have a question regarding the best way to perform page navigation using the ActionResponse.sendRedirect method.
There is one Webcenter Portal, and in it are multiple pages. Each page has portlets from different 286 PortletProducer applications.
I can copy the url out of the browser and remove the params, and use that string in my controller to redirect me successfully to the home page of the portal.
However that URL does not reference a non-home page, i.e. one not hooked up to Root.
I tried constructing the page url by appending the path from pages.xml to the portal context, but got no love from that either.
If i want to redirect to a different page, what is the best way to specify the page so I can use the sendRedirect method?
    Thanks,
    PowerUser 862605

if you use sendRedirect method ,then make sure the following conditions are satisfied.
This method only accepts an absolute URL (e.g. http://my.co/myportal/mywebap/myfolder/myresource.gif) or a full path URI (e.g. /myportal/mywebap/myfolder/myresource.gif). If required, the portlet container may encode the given URL before the redirection is issued to the client.
some good examples are her -http://www.javadocexamples.com/javax/portlet/ActionResponse/sendRedirect%28String%20location%29.html
Personally , I haven't checked it .so try this and see what's the results is .

  • How to read xml file present in the UCMS from  webcenter portal application

    Hi,
I'm new to webcenter portal and would like to know how to read an xml file which is present in UCMS 11g(contributors folder) from webcenter portal application.
    Thanks in advance

I guess I had mentioned that I want to read it via my webcenter portal app rather than login to ucms and searching it via url.
I want text labels and button names being stored in the xml file which I'm going to keep in the UCMS.
After reading that from the xml will be placed at appropriate locations like the button values and label feilds, so that we dont need to deploy entire app for this kind of simple changes.
Now can anyone provide some help with the api's related to this?

Now I have 3 tabs: Home, Staff and Student. When I expand Home tab, there are Home and Documents. When I expand Staff tab and Student tab, there is Home. Now I want to add something calls “Files” in Staff tab, how do I do it? So when I expand Staff tab, there are Home and Files. I am using Oracle WebCenter Portal and creating portal.

  • Please change "WebCenter Portal - Interaction" to "WebCenter Interaction"

Could you please change the name of the forum titled "WebCenter Portal - Interaction" to "WebCenter Interaction"?
The amount of posts in this forum related to "WebCenter Portal" (a different product) has increased dramatically recently and are lessening the value of the discussion board.
WebCenter Portal and WebCenter Interaction are completely different products which have absolutely nothing in common other than similar names.
OTN discussions on one product share no commonality with the other.

  • WebCenter Sites (11.1.1.6) install alongside WebCenter Portal (11.1.1.6)

I'm looking for some recommendations for installing WebCenter Sites (11.1.1.6) on a development server which currently has WebCenter Portal (and Spaces), WebCenter Content (UCM/ECM) and WebTier installed.
For WebCenter Content and WebCenter Portal I followed the standard instructions and have been able to successfully start them in the Enterprise Manager, and login to the provided Spaces application.
    Environment
    Oracle Linux 6 (64bit)
    Oracle XE 11.2.0-1
    WebLogic 10.3.6
    Oracle (Sun) JDK 1.6.0_23
    Installed Products
    WebCenter Portal 11.1.1.6
    Content 11.1.1.6
    WebTier 11.1.1.6
    RCU 11.1.1.6
    Middleware Home Files
    ls /app/Middleware
         coherence_3.7
         domain-registry.xml
         logs
         modules
         ocm.rsp
         oracle_common
         Oracle_ECM1
         Oracle_WC1
         Oracle_WT1
         user_projects
         utils
         wlserver_10.3
    Webcenter domain:
    /app/Middleware/user_projects/domains/webcenter_domain
    WebCenter Sites installation
The instructions (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29495_01/index.htm) for "Installing on Oracle WebLogic Application Server" say to run "<wl_home>/wlserver_10.x/common/bin/config.sh" to create a new domain.
However as this machine already has Portal, Spaces and UCM installed under a domain called 'webcenter_domain'. My question is: How can I add WebCenter Sites into the existing webcenter domain, if that is the recommended way?
If it's better to create a new separate domain such as 'sites_domain', then how can both webcenter_domain and sites_domain be run alongside each other? This might be more of a WebLogic configuration question, I'm not sure.
I'm looking for what the best practice recommendation is for running these parts of WebCenter together on the same machine.
The WebCenter Sites install wizard settings I was going to use are below, if this is useful. The part I'm unsure about is astrixed:
    _./csInstall_
    - Installation Directory:     /app/Middleware/Oracle_WCS1
    - Development type
    - Install mode: custom
    - Avisport sample (check)
    - FirstSite II Sample site modules: (all)
    - Single server
    - Sites System Admin account: -
    - Sites Application Admin account: -
    - Satellite Server account: -
    - Sites Shared Files System: /app/Middleware/Oracle_WCS1/Shared
    - Host name: webcenterserver
    - Port of Application Server: 7001
    - Platform Type: Application Server Platform
    - Application Server: Weblogic
    - Site Application Deployment: 1
    Path: /app/Middleware/wlserver_10.3
    Application Context root: /cs
    - Sites Application Deployment: 2
    ** Weblogic domain name: sites_domain / webcenter_domain
    ** Sites application name: CS
    ** Manual Deployment dir: /app/Middleware/Oracle_WCS1/domains
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

The recommendation from the Oracle WebCenter & ADF Architecture Team is to keep the parts decoupled, installing WebCenter Sites on a separate machine. Otherwise it would be leading towards a 'Type 3' integration. Specifically looking at the proof-of-concept application 'Spark', which requires WebCenter Sites and WebCenter Portal installed on the same machine:
+"Due to this co-deployment requirement, most clients have avoided installing or using Spark. And not without reason: installing two big, complex applications on the same environment is problematic with regards to scalability and tuning."+

  • Video in WebCenter Portal: Spaces

Has anyone got experience with video in a WebCenter Portal (and Spaces in particular?).
I'm looking for a way to allow users to upload videos and share them with other users. A bit like Facebook, which people are getting used to nowadays.
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

Yes, streaming video would be quite difficult.
There is an older blog on the subject: http://contentoncontentmanagement.com/2008/03/ucmtube-converting-and-streaming-flv-files-with-oracle-ucm/
The only option I've thought of would be something like supplying a link and then creating a taskflow which embeds that link in the page in a nice player (or simply Youtube). Similar to what you are describing.
I just wish there would be more options to do this - people are spoiled by Facebook nowadays. You upload a video and there it is in your timeline.

  • Webclipping Portlet in Webcenter portal application

When creating a web-clipping port-let in Webcenter portal application, we register the url for the webclipping portlet (http://localhost:7101/portalTools/webClipping/providers/webClipping) as Oracle PDK Producer connection as mentioned in Web center portal developer's guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_pages.htm#CHDJDGIF.
The content for the web-clipping portlet is to be specified at runtime only.
Is it possible to define the contents for the web clipping portlet in design time/JDeveloper itself.
    Thanks,
    Navaneeth

You mean you have exposed the taskflow and consumed it as a portlet in Webcenter ?
You may want to check it on the Webcenter Portal forum too - WebCenter Portal
