Webcenter portal live search and tags

Hello there,
Does anyone know if there is any merge/integration possible with the Webcenter Content tags and the Webcenter Portal live search?
I know the tag service offered by Webcenter Portal works for the search component however the tags from the Webcenter Content do not. Is it possible to include those in the live search?

Hello there Daniel, reviving this topic again. Hope you can take my doubts.
Actually i am using DATABASE.FULLTEXT. It works for the UCM content. My issue here is that i want my search Toolbar to present to me the pages that have the UCM content in them.
Example: I search for the word "cookie" and i want the result to be the page that has an HTML loaded from the content that has the word "cookie" in it. Right now the Search Toolbar returns me the HTML that has the word cookie in it. But not the page that has that HTML loaded.
As a matter of the fact i cant even get any page out of the Search Toolbar.
My question is, do i need to have SES to be able to have that? Or with the Search Toolbar this is something that is possible.
I added the tagging system, that allows me to get pages in the Search toolbar, but requires manual tagging, or tagging through the content of the pages. That, so far, is the only way i get pages on the search Toolbar.

When will Adobe update DIGITAL EDITIONS - to search and tag, and to back-up structure?

When will Adobe update DIGITAL EDITIONS to include the ability to 'find your books' by searching and tagging?
Also, how does one 'back-up' the organization structure? I have hundreds of books that i've organized by "Bookshelves" and i KNOW this will someday become corrrupted, somehow, and i will need to spend countless hours trying to put multiple books in multiple categories again.
[i've backed-up (besides the books themselves) "Annotations", "Mainfiest", "Tags" and "Thumbnails" but there doesn't seem to be a complementary file/folder for DIgital Editions in USER/AppData]

TM is not designed to do what you ask. As Allan wrote TM is an incremental backup not an archival solution.
If you delete a file from the HD it will eventually be removed from the TM backup (if it ever makes it on to the backup at all).
How long before it is removed depends on a number of factors, TM disk drive size being one factor but not the only one.
Material that is impossible to replace and is important to you (image files usually fitting that description) need to be backed up to as least one other drive and preferably more for long term storage.

Webcenter Portal PPR Navigation and Passing URL parameters

Hi,
We have pages that will be URL parameter based so that it can be bookmarked and should be partially page navigable. Basically some pages are specific to project numbers i.e a project-page is opened by passing something like project-page?projectNumer=111. We have a partial page navigation something like this..

The problem is this pprnav doesn't allow us to pass http parameters. Is there a way to pass parameters through the URL without actually refreshing the whole page (using goLinks). It is important for us since most of the pages have obiee dashboards which take time to load. Or how to parameterize the pages with pprnav enabled. We tried unbounded taskflows but doesnt go well with webcenter portal.

(just follow the approach defined for setting pprnav programatically). before setting the ppnav set some variable in the parameter list of in the pageflowscope.. and use the pageflowscope in the next page

Oracle portal text search and bespoke table

We have the oracle portal text searching working okay.
We also have a bespoke table that users are uploading word documents into a blob column.
Is it possible to get oracle portal text searching to search this bespoke table as well. Maybe by creating an index that points at this table or
when a document is uploaded an api call that registers the document in oracle text searching??????

The oracle Portal text is created for content that can directly be mapped to items, folders etc on portal. The BLOB column you want to indexed has not been mapped to content uploaded in portal.
You might want to explore crawling using the Ultrasearch table datasource for the same

Webcenter Portal - CMIS query and variables

Im using CMIS queries to access my UCM in order to have multi language support. In the query i need to input as a variable the current selected language which is on a session bean.

Which does not work. My question is if it is possible to pass a parameter in the CMIS query, on the LIKE field. If so how exactly to do it? If it is possible i cant find the correct syntax to make it work.
If this is not possible, how do i properly use CMIS queries in order to access multilanguage content that is tagged on my UCM?

Using the same logic, but this time im on a navigation.xml file. The <parameter> tag does not have a value instead the input is as show in the code above. And alas it also does not work.

HT2194 Address Book searches and tags or keywords

Is there a way to use keyword or tags for searches in Apple's Address Book? Putting contacts into Groups isn't always the most efficient way of find people or narrowing down people withing a group. Does anyone have any ideas? Will Apple ever implement tags in Address Book?

I mostly use groups for both those purposes. I also use the company field as a sort of tag, since very few of my contacts are companies rather than individual. So I have contacts with builder or plumber or electrician in the company field - but this won't work for you if you need that field for company names. The other field you can use is the notes field; you could put several tags in, and you wouldn't need any special separator as search will find them.
The advantage of groups, for me, is that you only have to type the tag or category once and you can so quickly isolate all those in the group. A contact can of course be in multiple groups; indeed a group can be in a group.

I want to intergated a jsr168 war file with Web Center Portal. I only install WebCenter Portal without JDeveloper and Content. So how should I deploy it?

You have the weblogic domain right ? Opent the enterprise manager in browser by hitting the below url -
http://<Admin Server address>:<port>/em
login with credentials.
From deployments end,you can install the war file which will targeted to WC_Portlet server.
After that register the portlet WSRP url with your application and use it.
The above suggest is without the intervention of jdeveloper /webcenter.

Windows live search & Tell me

I'm using a vzw tour and wondering if anyone else uses windows live search and or tell me. They are 3rd party apps that I have used on my previous blackberry's. The tell me wont download at all and the windows live search allows you to download the app but it continuously tries to update and make my phone freeze. I found the windows live search at wls.live.com and tell me at tellme.com

This could be due to 2 possible issue.
But first, try another msn, live user and password and check if the sign out issue still continues. If not, the first possibility is that sometime in your life, your had sign on on another device/computer (maybe a lab computer?), I have an IM apps on my iphone too, so once in a while it will sign in to check my mails and this disconnect my computer side, then after it finished, the iphone disconnect and my computer regains control.
Second possibility, which is very rare, is the credential, you need to google it and make your credential more 'permanent' at
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager
Note that this Credential manager thing is very random, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most permanent solution if you found it is due to this, is to reinstall the OS because there were all sort of settings/registry/network settings etc, that was reported to mess up the connectivity issue. I had an issue with a network server once with this, and read through many googled answers/methods, finally gave up and reformatted and did a clean install and the problem stopped.

Going through information available I have tried following things:
1) Recreated new webcenter portal application and it gives same error
2) Deleted the default domain and tried creating a new domain
3) My work folder doesn't consist of any spaces

Smart Albums and Search ignoring tags / keywords

Why is it that once images are imported into PE7, and if their keywords and tags are edited in an external editor (eg. Picasa, Photoshop), PE7 doesn't seem to recognize these new keywords/tags in Search or Smart Albums?!
The weird thing is, if I open/activate these newly edited files, I can see in thier properties that the new keywords/tags can be read by PE7, but these descriptions don't show up as matching results when we do a search box or smart albums.
What is going on?
On the other hand, Picasa will read, update and pick up any tags and keywords that have been entered in PS7, almost instantly. Why can't PE7 do this???

It's a design limitation of PSE. When you first import an image into PSE, it will read the metadata from the image's file (keyword tags, date/time, caption, notes, star rating) and store it in your catalog (the database where PSE stores all of its information about your images). Once the image is imported into your catalog, PSE will never read that metadata again, so if you change it with an external tool, PSE won't see those changes.
As you've observed, a number of other programs will track changes made to a file's metadata, including Windows Live Photo Gallery and Adobe Lightroom.

Oracle Secure Enterprice Search and Webcenter?

Hi!
Im trying to build a search page in a content based webcenter (11g) portal where I have all the content in the UCM
I could do it by crawls the content server, but if I do I dont have any good referense to which page the content is displayed on and SES returns parts of the contributor data file xml as well and it would be very nice to get rid of that whitout building a function to open data files and get the actual content.
Is there any way to crawl the site as a site instead like google or bing would have done?

Calling css and js file in webcenter portal template

Hi All,
I stored all js and css file in wcc.I want to invoke css and js file in webcenter portal template .How can i invoke by direct link?
First question, to get the direct link for the css file in webcenter content

Copy Download URL of selected css file by Right click on the css file from Space => Documents and click on 'Get Links' in the popup menu. Copy the link for later use.
FYI, Assuming files are uploaded to WCC via WebCenter Portal -> Spaces/Portal -> Document Explorer taskflow.
In the similar lines, I wrote the following article titled "Using FusionCharts in Oracle WebCenter Portal" in which I upload the js files and swf files to WCC via Document Explorer taskflow. Later I made use of the direct link of js files to render charts using FusionCharts js files/swf files.

New to Webcenter Search- Oracle SES or WebCenter live search adapters.

We are planing to implement the search functionality for Webcenter .
As per the Developer's guide WebCenter provides two ways of searching your application:
■ Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES) adapter
■ Oracle WebCenter live search adapters
Documents service provides its own search engine for file searches.(Is it only for file search ? What kind of Files ?)
- Can you provide the the differences between the three searches (SES , live search , Document Service)?
- Where can i find the refernces for implementing WebCenter live search adapters?
- What are the search functionality that WebCenter live search adapters provide?
-What are the benifts of using Oracle SES over WebCenter live search adapters ?
- What is that we cannot do with WebCenter live search adapters but with Oracle SES ? and the other way round.

Hi Dani,
Eventually I found the problem, it is reported in Oracle Support as Doc ID 1503173.1.
It seems jDeveloper is a bit special when adding Directories to the MAR file. If the whole directory "/oracle" is added, the adf-config.xml introduces the following line:
namespace metadata-store-usage="WebCenterFileMetadataStore" path="/oracle"/
As a result, this diverts all /oracle/... file and class requests to MDS, which causes failures.
So when editing the MAR deployment profile be careful to select the sub-directories under /oracle/webcenter/portalapp/ one by one.
Added to this, I had to perform the cleaning process you suggested to make it work too, otherwise I get a different error...
Final steps are:
1. Undeploy application.
2. Delete MDS partition.
3. Shutdown managed server.
4. Delete /cache and /tmp content for the managed server.
5. Start managed server.
6. Exectute Clean all in jDeveloper.
7. Create a new mar deployment as described in SR 1503173.1.
8. Deploy to EAR file.
9. Deploy new application to managed server using Enterprise Manager.
And it works!
