Webcenter ribbon disappears in Office applications

Hi,
I am wondering if you guys have experienced that the Webcenter ribbon in Office applications are being disabled during startup of eg. MS Word and if you have a good solution on how to prevent this? We are using DIS 11.1.6.97 and sometimes the Webcenter ribbon in Office applications are disappearing too frequent. Users that have other multiple add-ins experience that DIS is the only add-in that is being disabled.
I have read the documentation "WebCenter Content" Ribbon Missing From MS Office Applications Like Word [ID 1400189.1]" and "WebCenter Content" Ribbon is Missing in Microsoft Office 2010 (Doc ID 1444345.1). But those documents are only describing how to enable the ribbon and not answering the questions why it is being disabled and if there is a solution to prevent it from being disabled. Is there any configuration that can be done in the Registry? Are we doing anything wrong during installation (enterprise rollout and not individually installations)?
I've been searching a lot on the Internet and found articles that describes the same behaviour but with other add-ins. The best explanation I have found is that when Office applications encounter any problems during startup the application itself can disable add-ins.
Please tell me if you have experienced the same issue and how you have solved it.
We are using DIS 11.1.6.97 and Webcenter Content PS5

One thing which can be tried out to see if this is a client specific DIS issue would be to upgrade WCC server and use the new / latest DIS client .
I have not seen this issue happening with DIS client version > 97

    According to your description, there is a library with four content types, you create a document with one of the content types, click save button in Office application,
    then a “Choose Content Type” dialog will show up for selecting a content type.
    I tried to reproduce as below:
    1. Create a library with four content types;
    2. In the ribbon of this library, “FILES”->”New Document”->”Content Type 1”, then the Office application with the predefined template will be opened for editing;
    3. Click the “Save” button, choose the save path as the current library, click “OK” to finish the process;
    4. Refresh the library in browser, the newly created document appears there.
    In my test, there is no “Choose Content Type” dialog showing up when save the document in Office application.
    I would suggest you provide more details about how to reproduce this issue(screenshot would be better) for further research.

  • Acrobat ribbon missing on office 2013 (specifically outlook and word)

    I just downloaded acrobat xi on my desktop PC w/ windows 7 professional.
    The acrobat ribbon is missing on outlook and word programs.  I tried the troubleshoot recommended by adobe and it does not work.
    Any suggestions?

    Compatibility with Office 2013 has been added from Acrobat 11.0.1 on-wards.
    You need to update Acrobat for the pdfmaker to appear in Office applications. The latest version is 11.0.10

  • Parallels Desktop 9 - MS Office Application are unavailable.

    Hi All,
    Some might see this a a blessing........but recently on attempting to use MS Office applications within Parallels 9 I realised that they are no longer available to me. The apps (Word, Access, Excel etc) are no longer available from the menu.
    They were fine on the 1st April (April Fools Day, ironically!!) but after that, nothing.
    I've tried going into Control Panel and "reinstalling" office, but it says I need Admin rights. I've tried as the Admin (even though my own account is also Admin) and it says I need Admin rights.
    Any ideas why they the applications are not available.....how I get them back.....etc etc?
    Any help would be gratefully received.

    Time Machine will back up your Mac files. If you have it set to also back up your VMs, then you can try restoring from a backup pior to April 1, but you may render the VM unusable in doing so.
    Whatever caused this, was solely inside the VM. In other words, it was a Windows problem. I've seen shortcuts disappear from the Start menu, but never seen the apps just quit working when they did.
    Have you tried right clicking the Office setup.exe and choosing "Run as Administrator"?  My Windows 8 machine now requires that I do that with ANYTHING I install. MAJOR pain, but I'm used to it now.

    I have the Intel-based iMac and have just run into my first problem with it after 8 months trouble-free usage.
    My icons for the MS office applications have "No Entry" signs on them and I get the following message if I try to launch them:
    You cannot open the application “Microsoft Word” because it is not supported on this architecture.

    The Get Info under General has Kind: Application (NOT Application (Universal)). No idea why this would be the case.
    This is Office 2008 - it says Office 2008 everywhere I look. Not just claiming it is. I don;t understand why they would launch one week and then not launch the next.
    I know little enough about all this stuff but my husband announced that they had stopped working 2 weeks ago and please could I fix it. He had an update from Microsoft. He didn't even know how to turn the thing off and on at the switch never mind strip out random parts of the OS.
    Re-installing office looks like my only option. Thanks for your help.

    1 WFE + 1 App Server + 1 server for OWA + 1 separate DB server make up our DEV SharePoint 2013 environment. We migrated many web applications from our SP 2010 environment to SP 2013 environment. Client integration is enabled and "Open
    Documents in Client Applications by Default" feature is enabled at the site collection level. OWA is enabled and working on the search results, such as showing preview.
    From the document libraries, if I open office documents like word, excel and PowerPoint, they open in the respective office applications. However, from the search results, when I try to open by clicking on the result, it opens on the browser.  I want
    OWA to show document preview but still want to open the document in the default office application. How to overcome this?

    Go to the bottom of the Search page, you will see a Preferences link:
    From there, you can set your preference. This is a per-user setting and as far as I'm aware, cannot be set globally.

  • BSP doesn't work when opened through MS Office application

    Hi Experts,
    I developped a bsp application to display directly all originals of a Document Info Record.
    The url has got some parameters:
    ex:http://maplmqa.sylvania.com:8000/sap/bc/bsp/sap/z_phl_guest/index.htm?dokar=ZPI&doknr=0000000000000000002564164&doktl=EN&dokvr=00
    When a user add this url in a MS Word document (also with XLS and PPT) and click on this link, the bsp starts but doesn't do all the process.
    When the user copy/paste the same link directly in the address bar of Internet Explorer, it works properly. I tested with open office, the hyperlink works also properly.
    So, only hyperlinks which come from MS office have problems (I checked the hyperlink, it's correct).
    Important point : the user connect with a guest user (defined in sicf) and not with his own user.
    What is the result:
    the BSP index.html page opens but it seems that the event handler "OnInitialization" is not executed. And in this event handler, I call the next page doc_list.htm which displays a table.
    The user sees a bsp page without any table.
    Does somebody already have problems with hyperlinks through MS Office applications ?

    I never though of doing that. I just moved my "iWork" folder into the end of the Dock, since it is already in a Folder and I seldom use Numbers or Keynote. Two fewer Icons in the Dock but still easy access.

  • Unable to open SharePoint 2010 task from any Microsoft Office application - cannot open a new form (schema validation errors)

    I can’t get the Microsoft Office SharePoint Task integration to work with any SharePoint 2010 Workflows.  When any end user clicks the “Open this task…”
    button from outlook (or any other office application) a warning dialog appears stating that:
    “Outlook cannot open a new.
    The form contains schema validation errors.”
    The error details are:
    Element '{http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml}div' is unexpected according to content model of parent element '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2009/WSSList/dataFields}Body'.
    Some points to note:
    I can replicate this using on several computers running as different users. 
    I have full control over the site and the task I am trying to open. 
    When I navigate via the SharePoint site I can open the task. 
    The Info Path form that cannot be opened was automatically created by automatically SharePoint designer / InfoPath.  I have subsequently deleted the form and published
    the workflow (which created the InfoPath form again). 
    I am running Mircosoft Office Professional Plus 2010 version 14.0.5128.5000 (32-bit)
    One workaround is to remove the “Open this task…” button as per
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/eb273ee9-6a4b-409c-8eb0-5351bb113386/. This is not ideal and will be my last resort.
    Any suggestions and or thoughts appreciated.

    Yes, I tried that.  It did not work for me.
    I have 4 site collections.  The main site collection is the only one that I receive the error.  
    When the user clicks on the email link  and opens the document for approval, they receive the following error when they click on "Open This Task". 
    Element '{http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml}a is unexpected according to content model of
    parent element '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2009/WSSList/dataFields}Body'.
    There is nothing wrong with the task list itself, just the link from the Office 2010 client. 
    I am wondering if there is a web config or other file on the server that is specific to the site collection??

    Is there anyways to turn off the adobe toolbar in all of the office application? after i installed adobe creative suite2, evertime i start up excel and word the adobe toolbar will appear as default no matter what. i even went to the customerize toolbar to turn off the adobe toolbar. It still comes back when i start up the office application the next time. can someone show me how to turn off the adobe toolbars in word and excel for good? It just kinda annoying me... thanks.

    I’m not sure if I understand your question correctly. But if you want to manipulate the Excel document only, I will suggest you using OpenXML SDK, especially for the server side automation.

    For the Office desktop side automation, I recommend you using the Excel Object Model (Office Interop).

    Does that mean you have to sign out of creative cloud on one machine and sign back in to creative cloud on the other machine to be able to use it?
    No. You can be signed in to the Cloud (using the same Adobe ID) on two separate computers at the same time.
    If you want to activate the Cloud on a 3rd machine then you need to sign out of one of the other computers.
    Your issue on your home computer is unlikely to be related to signing in.

    Everything was working perfectly until I uploaded the most recent software update. When I restarted my laptop I found that the Safari icon had disappeared from my applications bar.  If I go to my 'recent places' and click on Safari it then reappears but only until I close the laptop down as the next time I start it up, it's nowhere to be seen.  Can anyone help?  

    by applications bar you mean "dock"? After you click on recent places and start safari it will reappear in the dock and at this point you will want to control + click (right click) on the SAFARI icon and hover to options, make sure that "KEEP IN DOCK" has a check mark next to it. If it does not, click that option. Now it will keep the Safari Icon in your dock.
