Webcenter Spaces internal error page and session timeout page customization

Hi
On what basis is an internal error page shown in webcenter spaces? What triggers it?
Is it possible to customize the internal error page that shows up on webcenter spaces?
Or atleast redirect to a custom error page on any exception occured?
Is there any other way to handle it?
Also, how to customize the session timeout page? Is it possible?
There seems to be a servlet being called for session timeout display i dont see any page being redirected to.
Environment details: Webcenter Spaces 11.1.1.6

Hi,
I was experiencing the same problem with customizing the session timeout page. I found out that you can set a custom webcenter attribute in the webcenter-config.xml called "wcSessionTimeoutURL" which overrides the default servlet response and redirects the the specified path.
In my example, I created a business role page, set it to be publically accessible, then used the Red Samurai MDS Cleaner taskflow to modify the custom attributes in webcenter-config.xml in the following way:

Discoverer Plus - Kills the browser with error msg for session timeout

If left idle for more than few minutes, Discoverer Plus instance will kill itself with an error.
i guess it kills the IE browser instance with an error message when Session Timeout occurs. The problem is I have to re-login in a new IE browser.
Is this normal behavious, or a bug. Any workaround to stop this happen. Please can someone help me, we are going on for a production rollover very soon.

The pref.txt file has session time out parameter that can be controlled. You can increase the time out value.

PPR and session timeout cookie

Is there anyway of getting the PPR functionality to update the session timeout cookie whenever a PPR request is made???

I am using your session timeout function from otn.
I am using it to timeout after a set period of inactivity, every time the page is redrawn the cookie time is updated.
I am calling this function from the 'Session Verify Function' field in the authentication scheme, and initially setting the cookie on login.
I believe that the cookie only gets updated when the page is re-drawn and the Session Verify Function is run??
On a PPR request only part of the page is refreshed, the page header remains unaffected, which means the user can be active on a page without refreshing the timeout value on the cookie?
(Not a major problem, but would be nice to be able to update the cookie on a PPR request as well)

Custmizing 500 internal error page.

Hi all,
Is there a wat to customize the 500 error page ? for webdynpro applications only and replace it with my own html page ?
I'm talking about sessionTimeOutException:
"The Web Dynpro Application 'application' has expired. Please restart the application either with the refresh button or click the following link VendorStatus."

HT5395 When launching iMessage, I get an internal error message and it automatically force quits...what does that mean?

when trying to launch iMessage upon turing my computer on, I get the message "internal error has occured, please quit iMessage and try again."
What do I need to do to repair this problem?

Hi Eric,
Side note.
com.apple.iChat.StatusMessages.plist only holds the default and Saved Status Messages.
Deleting it does not effect the running of the app.
Deleting com.apple.ichat.plist first can be the most invasive as you have to reset any Preferences (and some Menu items) that you have changed from defaults
If the person only has an iMessages account deleting the com.apple.imservice.imessages.plist (holds the iMessages ID in Mountain Lion) maybe enough
The account info is held elsewhere but this is read by com.apple.IMAgent.plist to login.
Next try the com.apple.imagent.pist one
As above All the accounts info is held elsewhere but this one is actually handling the logins.
It is of course doing all of then in Messages and FaceTime so it is not a first choice.
Deleting com.apple.imessage.bag.plist can be useful as this has info on the Server your version of Messages is using.
I would delete this along with com.apple.imservice.imessages.plist on a second attempt.

Try something like this:
Workspace timeout settings:
● Application server session timeout— Time in minutes after which the application server
times out a session if no requests are received for that session
❍ In \Workspace deployment\WEB-INF\web.xml:

❍ Default is 60 minutes
Note:
All Reporting and Analysis Web applications session timeouts should be greater than
10 minutes.
● Workspace timeout—Time in minutes after which Workspace warns and logs out inactive

Workspace sends “keep alive” requests to all the application servers (Workspace, Financial
Reporting, Web Analysis, and Oracle's Hyperion® Performance Scorecard – System 9). If
there is no activity in Workspace per the session timeout setting, the user is warned that the
session is about to end. If the user does not take action within 5 minutes, the user is logged
out.
❍ In \conf\subcontext.properties of the Workspace Web application:
KeepAliveInteral=10

Webservice example generates internal error page

When trying to get the shipped webservice example "address book" to work I constanly get a page from the LV webserver "Access Error: 500 -- Internal Server Error". it is however able to display the addcontacts html page, but that in trn is not able to post the entered data, without resulting in the same error.
What could be the problem?

thank you for your post on our forum. I tried to reproduce your problem and got the same error. I used Labview 8.6, did you use a different version? I will try to reproduce it with another version where this example is included.
If I try to open the pages from the project explorer (so from C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\examples\comm\webservices\address book\data\new_contact.html ) I've got a security warning (with both pages). I tried to switch of all internet security but the warning wouldn't disappear. Maybe I'm looking to the wrong direction; but I'm looking to get rid of this warning.

          The session does not seems to timeout when running the Weblogic servers in
          clustered mode with in-memory session replication on.
          This problem seems to be there in version5.1 too , as per another post , it
          seems to be solved in WLS5.1 sp 8
          Could anyone pls confirm in which patch in WLS 4.5.1 is the problem
          addressed . I'm using patch 11 and am getting the problem.

ADF Faces JDev 10g Dialog framework and session timeouts

Hi,
using ADF Faces & BC 10.1.3.4 for a web application with a main page that opens a dialog where the uses fill out stuff and click next until complete. Occasionally they will leave the application open and the session times out and when they go to use it they get the login page inside the dialog. They login but as expected the whole state of their session is lost resulting in no or the wrong record being displayed. Additionally of they go back to the parent window the row keys are all stuffed, they get the first record in the dialog even though the record from the previous session was still shown on the screen.
Any web developer would know to close the dialog and login properly, but this for end users of any experience level.
Is there anyway to prevent the login screen appearing in the dialog or at least direct them to properly re-establishing the session?

Hi,
the question is how you identify that the page is loaded in a dialog window. Because if you know this then the redirect would be to a html page that has an onLoad event defined that calls window.close();. Next problem then however is that the calling parent page too is timed out.

How can i reset the Webcenter Spaces default page?

Once when i changed user default page to 'Activities' after login, but i can enter manager page.

login with administrator user id.
go to administration page.
(either by manually go to admin page or http://<server>:<port>/webcenter/spaces/admin)
then pages tab->business role page >
select any of the pages.
you will see a button just beside business role page /create page [set default page]
click the [set default page] button.

AV - Top Five Audit Sources by Number of Alerts - INTERNAL ERROR

Hi again!
We have one problem with audit vault console while connecting with auditor role.
There's one strange problem that occurs intermitently when clicking on "Top Five Audit Sources by Number of Alerts " graph on audit vault home page.
Sometimes it works perfectly and maybe next time it produces an internal error. It does not follow any logic. Maybe it works 1,2,3,... times and next one it doesn't and the links carriess you to an empty page with "INTERNAL ERROR" message.
It is something related with the url.
When you place the mouse coursor on the graph you can see the url at the bottom of internet explorer/firefox.
It's something like this: (it works)
http://<av hostname>:5707/av/console/database/avt/:::::P2_REPORT_TYPE,P2_DATE_TYPE,P2_SOURCE:WARNING_ALERT,DAY,<source name>
then you continue working come back to home page and place the cursor again on it. Then sometimes you see the same url(all it's going to work) or the next one:

As you can see port number has changed misteriously... and it does not work.
The strange thing is that after the error i try to open a new auditor session with another explorer and it some times it works!!! until same thing happens.
Has anyone seen anything like this????? I don't know if it something about Audit Vault configuration, a bug or an internet explorer configuration issue.
i've tried different languages with my explorers and it continues happening ...
All the rest of the parts of the application work perfectly

Whenever posting an error post the full and complete error message (not your interpretation of it). "INTERNAL ERROR" in and of itself is meaningless.
I would suggest that you open an SR at metalink.
