WebCharts3D Flash Output: Client

Can an xml document be passed to the WebCharts3D produced flash file on the client side? We've had success with WebCharts3D on the server side but in a load balanced environment the local image reference presents challenges and I'm not willing to enable sticky sessions. If the flash output from WebCharts3D could take an XML string directly into the swf I could leverage the swf like its part of the application and have it distributed across the cluster. Server side we could build the XML string and use it in a "FlashVars" model letting the local swf produce the desired results.

After Effects doesn't have a "tween" feature - it's called
Transformation (Scale Rotation, etc...).
After Effects is raster based while Flash is vector based.
That's a huge difference in how both
treat raster based images. I have never exported 300DPI
images from AE before - especially from an
AVI - not sure about the workflow regarding this - not a
popular one but I would consult the After
Effects forum I think.

Problems with Flash output using Safari

Hi All,
does anyone know the solution to getting the flash output to work with safari? The project plays properly on Firefox and Chrome. On safari, my custom menus come up just the same as on the DVD version of the project, but the flash videos do not play - just a grey screen. Interestingly, the duration of the clips is set correctly in the player, it just doesn't start the video. The flash files play correctly when loaded directly into Adobe flash player, so I am assuming there is a compatibility issue with the generated XML files or index.html. The code inside the index.html seems very old and refereences macromedia.com and a windows .CAB file. I have shortened the file names and eliminated any offending characters (all are in the form "Chapter_1").
Anyway, this is stopping me delivering a project on USB stick for a client - seems to be a common issue when searching the web, but no solutions. Any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have the full CC (2014), but still have Encore CS6 installed for DVD production.

I read the thread you mentioned and all others relating to this issue - seems to be a number of people having the same issue over the last 3 years, but none have posted a successful conclusion. I did see the post about strange characters in file names causing issues in the XML - I did also look at this and change all my content file names to innocuous "Chapter_X" & etc. The paths to the "Sources" directory are all relative and the project works correctly on Chrome and Firefox. Just safari is not working. Agree, it could be permissions, but I have checked all security settings and the Abobe Flash player (with is called up by the script to display the videos in the browser) is specifically permitted to "Allow Always" in the security settings. I can't help thinking there is a problem with the generated XML that safari is not behaving correctly - it wouldnt be the first time that Apple doest things using their interpretation of a standard.
However, after all that, the generated code from Encore doesn't result in a working local project that I can send to a client and expect to work.

How to read .xml file from embedded .swf(flash output) in captivate

I have been trying to read .xml file from the .swf (Flash output) that is embedded within the captivate file but no luck yet . Please if anyone got any clue on how get this thing done using Action script 3.0 then let me know. I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5 at present and Flash CS 5.5.
I am well aware about how to read .xml file through action script 3.0 in flash but when insert the same flash in captivate and publish nothing comes in captivate output. I would higly appreciate if anyone could help me out with that.

Adding a download progress bar to a flash output

I have the CS4 production premium package. I made a flash based web page to function like my DVD project by "building" the project in Encore which creates the page along with the referenced flash video files without having to know action script. I was wondering if there is an easy way to include a download progress bar in the flash output? If it is not possible to add a download progress bar directly by changing some option before I "build"/export the project from Encore, is there a snippet of code I could insert in one of the files after it has been created so a progress bar is added to the video? Here is a link to the page I created. If you click the "TQ4" button you will notice that there is no download progress bar that is visible when the controls are showing.

There's no easy way, no.
It may be possible to do this in Flash if you built your own custom player, but you'd essentially have to reverse engineer your Encore Flash output (no small task).
If you have access to a Flash Media Server, you might want to consider the streaming output option, which avoids downloading issues entirely.

Output client setSynchronous()

I'm trying to understand what exactly it is that the setSynchronous() method does on the output client. Sure, it sets the mode to "synchronous" per the java docs, but then does that mean it's asysnchronous otherwise?
That doesn't make sense becasue I have used the API for over 2 months now and have not run into any issues related to not getting a result before my method returns (or so it seems). So, this notion of "synchronous" seems vague.
The problem we are running into is that when using the transformPDF() method to transform a PDF to PDF/A, sometimes, the generated file does not render correctly!
I'd appreciate some help here.

I don't think you can change the client system on the syndicatio map. What you can do, is open de syn map with the predefined client system, then export the map into an external file (for instance, c:\mySyn.syn)
Afterwards, open Syndicator again, select the client system you want, and import the map (c:\mySyn.syn). This should transport the syn mappings into the new client system

I said "such as" for a reason. There are various forms that data resources can take, such as simple name=value text files, but if you are shy of learning xml then you are likely shy of other file forms as well.
Another way would be to have the client purchase Flash and then they can edit the Flash source file themselves.
Unfortunately, to do what you want, either you or the client has to learn/understand the tools that are involved.

Best settings for Flash output PREL 8

I apologize if this is a repeat question, but I've spent a couple of hours already today trying to find the answer and to no avail.
Here's what's happening: once completed, my creative agency sends me the file (mov format...details below) and I export it to flash (see settings below). When I export to flash video, all the white text on the black screen is fuzzy and borderline illegible, yet the rest of the video is fine. Any idea why this is happening?

Do you have any control over the format that your agency is sending the files to you in? An MP4 is one of the more challenging formats for Premiere Elements to work with.
You don't say which project settings you're using in Premiere Elements to work with these files -- but the combination of that and your file format could by why you're getting such mediocre results.
If they can send you MOVs using the DV codec rather than the H.264 codec, that would be a good start. You should be able to get great results editing a DV file in Premiere Elements project set up for DV.
I'm not sure why you're outputting your FLV file at those strange dimensions (700x300), but that could also account for your blurriness, since you've down-rezzing the file to a lower resolution. Are these the specs your agency wants your video at?
Finally, how are you judging the quality of your FLV files? What are you playing them on and are you looking at them at 100% actual size or are you looking at them oversized or, worse, at full-screen on your computer? This too can affect your results.

Moved Graphics Don't Display In Flash Output

Following on from my previous post (re the problems I have
had following an upgrade from v4 to v6) in which I mentioned that
many of my graphics do not display in preview mode, even having
moved the project to my C drive and even though the images do
display in compiled .chm output, they still will not display in
preview mode or in compiled Flash output (have not yet tested
WebHelp).
However, this does not apply to all of the graphics in my
project - It would appear that the problem images are only those
which having opened the project in v6, I moved into a central
graphics folder (using the Project view).
Beforehand, all my images were scattered throughout the
project folders which made it a nightmare to manage so I decided to
move those which were not already located in my 'Images' folder,
into it!
Although the file moves seemed to work without any problems
and the code in the 'True Code' view points to the correct location
(and does not show any obvious differences between graphics which
do display in preview mode and those which don't) - all I get is a
box the size and shape of the graphic containing a small red cross!
Any suggstions gratefully received as always.

In dealing with the various problems, did you take a copy of
the project and then open that using the HHP file after deleting
the CPD and XPJ files? Try that on a copy to see if it fixes the
problem. If it does, read my topic on Opening a Project to see if
any of the issues concern your project.
If that doesn't fix it, post back.

UrlParam problem with Captivate 7 Flash output

The script is on the entry of the first slide to set the variables as the slide show begins. I did publish to both swf and html5. I'm using the index.html page for the html5 and the other htm page that contains the flash object. I have a php script that detects mobile devices to determine which content is displayed using iframes. I'm not sure what the multiscreen.html page is... ok I just read about the multiscreen and it looks like that page doesn't detect all devices correctly so I'm better off with the php script that I'm using. I'm adding the variable string to each url on the index page and also the htm page for embedded flash content.

A simple question regarding flash output from Encore

My primary question is how exactly is the html file that is playhed by the browser created in Encore? I have tired this and I am simply unable to located the html file as seen in the tutorials on this subject. I see that these tutorials have templates which I don't see when I select the flash output. Do I need these to crreate a simple flash file that is playable on a website? Where to the templates come from? This is not explained in the tutorials.
Is the index.html file created automatically when Flash output is selected as the format? Maybe I am doing something wrong but I have never found them?
Please help as I am having to go through a two step process to create the requied index.html and embeded player from which the SWF is played.on a site. I am only interested in creating progressively encoded web site playable files from Encore. Please help!.

Encore creates the HTML file when you export to Flash - it's in the folder named on export, along with all the other files you'll need.

Authorware w/Flash Output???

Will Authorware do Flash Ouput soon? I've heard rumors, but I
don't actually know if it is true (please let it be true!!!) I have
been very frustrated being forced to use ToolBook (which in my
opinion sucks completely) for the last 2 years simply because the
company I am working for is completely adverse to making the
Authorware web player plugin part of the regular PC image that
everybody here must use.
I have tried to get them to change their minds, but they
refuse. My only possible saving grace is if Authorware will
actually have a Flash output as part of the packaging option in the
next release. Can anybody confirm for me the rumor that this is
going to happen and when..... If so, then I can do a business case
for that time frame and get the wheels rolling on license
purchases. Please, if anyone knows, then let me know ASAP.

Yes that's true given the existence of viruses, spyware,

I think there was one possible issue with SWFs a few years
ago but the
security issues with AW is ever constant and continual. When
a stranger
asks me to look at a web page I will. When a stranger asks me
to look at
a SWF I will. When a stranger asks me to look at a web
packaged AW piece
I won't if it requires me to trust it.
The all or nothing approach of AW's security is the issue. In
certain
situations I'd be prepared to give AW limited access but I
can't I must
give it complete access or nothing.
