WEBDAV performance - Filr 1.1

Hi, folks!
I configured Webdav-Interface of Filr 1.1 with basic access authentification. The connection is secured by TLS 1.0 (Filr Poodle patches are active).
Uploading a large amount of small files results in very low upload speed (maybe due to the larger amount of overhead?). Are there any advices to improve webdav performance?
Client Environment:
Win7 Sp1 Prof 64bit
M$-Webdav-Client included in filemanager
Proxy configuration in Internet Explorer is disabled!
Cheers, k.

  • Poodle Patch breaks Webdav in Filr 1.1?

    Hi
    We upgraded Filr 1.1 (small install) with the poodle patch (filr-1.1.0.655).
    After the update, none of the clients can connect to Filr via Webdav. I get the error "Error message 0x80070043 - the network name cannot be found".
    Tried to install all patches available on the download Center, but no success.
    Access via Webinterface is fine, but we Need webdav.
    Enviroment:
    Filr 1.1 small Installation
    Webdav Authentication: Digest
    Client: Windows 7 64bit with all patches, IE10
    Webdav-Clint: native Client from Windows
    Tried "IISCrypto40" from https://social.technet.microsoft.com...w7itprogeneral with no success
    Can anybody give mi a hint?
    Thank you

  • How to connect WebDav URL in Windows 7  to a Folder of KM.

    Hi,
    I have EP 7.0 SP 21.
    When I tried to map a network drive in Windows Explorer  to the WEBDAV URL of the Portal , don´t accept the URL. It said the folder is not valid. I know are problem with WebDAV in Windows 7. but not are a solution to this yet.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Luis,
    we have the same problem and it seems that there are generally problems with Win7 and WebDav and not with Portal in particular.

  • Accessing NetStorage via WebDAV from Windows 7

    Until last week we were running Netware 6.5 SP8. I was aware that accessing NetStorage via WebDAV (using Microsoft Web Folders) does not work on Windows 7. Now I migrated the server to OES 11 SP2 and I decided to re-investigate the issue. Currently, I still can't access NetStorage from WebDAV on Windows 7. When I try to add new network location in Windows, enter the correct URL and I'm prompted for username and password. After entering the correct password, the username/password window re-appears. On entering the username and password second time, I get error message "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another."
    Is the situation still such that accessing NetStorage via Microsoft Web Folders on Windows 7 does not work, or do I have something misconfigured?
    From web browser, there are no problems accessing NetStorage.

    My limited understanding is that MS seriously mangled/changed WebDav in Windows 7 and if you google for webdav webfolders and windows 7 you'll find all sorts of differing things that may be needed for things to work.
    I do know that you can download the free NetDrive client software somewhere and that should work on Win7 against NetStorage.
    I vaguely recall there was something special you had to do with Web Folders on Windows 7 if you wanted to use WEBDAV against FILR, so perhaps those same steps are necessary against NetStorage.
    Also, are you accessing NetStorage directly, or going through a reverse proxy such as NAM?

  • WebDav Very Slow on Windows 7 Pro

    Environment:
    Hosted SharePoint 2010
    Two laptops on a Windows Domain: 1) Windows 7 Pro 32-bit & IE11 and 2) Windows 7 Pro 64-bit & IE11.
    Problem:
    WebDAV is VERY slow on Windows 7 only. When using WebDAV on Windows 8 or using the web portal (browser), file uploads are very fast. We've performed extensive testing as follows with no success.
    Installed or confirmed SP1 was installed
    Disabled "Automatic Detect Settings" within Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings.
    Forced port 443 within URL upon mapping a drive (ex. <URL>:443)
    Logged in using the local administrator's profile
    Detached computer from domain and used the local administrator's profile

    Hi Wleblanc,
    “WebDAV is VERY slow on Windows 7 only. When using WebDAV on Windows 8 or using the web portal (browser), file uploads are very fast.”
    Do you mean only the uploading operation in WebDAV of Windows 7 is slow or the whole WebDav performance is slow ?
    Please check this service ”Webclient” from the service control .
    I noticed that the process of creating a WebDAV connection is a little different in Windows 7 and Windows 8 .Someone indeed informed the information that this service will affect the WebDAV performance.

  • Focused slow on Windows 7

    Hello,
    some of the users of Focused are experiencing lags when typing.
    The lag grows as the length of the text increases.
    I verified the same behavior on Windows 7 32 bits (Adobe Air 1.5.3.9130)
    It is a simple application, working correctly on win xp, vista.
    Any idea?

  • Performance issue in KM as a WebDAV client

    Hi all,
    I have configured KM as a WebDAV client.But there is a performance issue.Whenever i try accessing the folder,its been cached.
    Can some suggest how to avoid caching of data everytime.
    I am using a memory cache.
    thanx and regards,
    anuradha

    Hi Anuradha,
    well, it is intended that the data is being cached...
    What is wrong with caching in your scenario?
    What are the settings for your WebDAV-RM in KM (especially "Cache Timeout")?
    And what are the settings for your memory cache ("Default Time-to-life" and "Restart lifetime on access")?
    Best regards,
    Paul

  • Performance KM repository - Filesystem vs. WebDAV

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie to KM repositories so I hope this question makes sense.
    I've got 2 Filesystem Repositories in my KM. One server is remote and reachable via a 4 MBit/s cable, the other one is located within the intranet.
    When I browse both filesystem in EP, the response time of the intranet server filesystem is acceptable, whereas the response time of the remote filesystem is very slow.
    So far not astonishing. But when I browse both filesystems via Windows Explorer both have nearly the same performance (also 4 MBit/s vs Intranet).
    My question:
    1) What could be the reason for that? Is it maybe a different protocol?
    2) Would it maybe help if I try to embed the remote filesystem via WebDAV repository?
    3) What exactly are the differences between WebDAV repository and filesystem Repository? Regarding performance and functioanlity!
    4) Is it possible to use the filesystem via WebDAV and also make changes directly on the fileystem?
    Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
    Joschi

    1) SMB is known not to perform well with bigger latencies (I think). Not sure why this doesn't show in Windows Explorer. Maybe heavy caching?
    2) You can try that.
    3) Performance may be better, because WebDAV protocol exchanges have been designed for this purpose.
    4) Yes.
    Best regards, Julian

  • Can't upload files using webDAV

    hi guys. i have a bit of a frustrating problem. im trying to upload zip file (~50MB) to a file hosting site (in.solit.us specifically) and i'm using webDAV to do so. i have no problem connecting to and mounting the server, but whenever i try and add anything to the dav disk it give me the error:
    "you cannot copy some of the items to the destination because their names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination."
    i freaking hate this error message, whenever i get it it is so unwarranted. my zip file is titled "one.zip"... so no the name isn't too long or any such thing. the compressed files inside this zip file are also of similar length and composition. when i try and upload anything, even a smaller (regularly named) doc file, finder gives me the same error. what's more, when i try and create a new folder within the dav drive the "new folder" icon pops up for a few seconds then immediately disappears. which is kind of funny because when i then try and create another new folder it names it "new folder 2" -- which then subsequently disappeared as well. last time something like this happened to me it was a problem with the disk automatically ejecting itself after a couple of seconds. this does not seem to be the case here, console reads:
    "Feb 11 18:55:45 localhost webdavd[1641]: /Volumes/dav mounted"
    and then, when i manually eject it:
    "Feb 11 19:15:17 localhost webdavd[1641]: /Volumes/dav unmounted"
    console does not lie.
    any help would be much appreciated

    Hi Bilinbaja,
    I am not sure if you are using FTP to upload the files, however this error can sometimes refer to a hardware issue. Please try to toggle the hardware acceleration by right clicking on a item using the flash plug in and selecting settings.
    Please let us know if this improves the performance as well as if this also happens on other computers, or if it still happens after you delete cache and cookies. Each browser has its own cache, Firefox's cache may also be longer. [[How to clear the Firefox cache]]
    Did this help? We look forward to your reply.

  • Save As Copy to WebDAV folder does not work

    Hi,
    In Windows XP with latest reader (9.3.3), I cannot perform "Save As Copy" to a WebDAV folder. Contents of the folder is blank in the Save As dialog, and clicking the save button shows the following error:
    "You Cannot Save in the Folder You Specified. Please Choose Another Location."
    I was convinced that it was because Reader used the old dialog that doesn't support WebDAV as described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265867/en-gb
    However, I then discovered that when doing the same from Windows 7 and Windows Vista, I do not experience this problem. I have since made a clean install Windows XP to a virtual PC for testing, and I get the same problem.
    I found from one source that the web server should have Reader installed to register the MIME type for IIS. I installed it but to no avail.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards.

    NB: I am using the built-in WebDAV client in Windows XP (Add Network Place with WebClient service started).
    Also have a thread open on the IIS site:

  • Performance Point Services - Unable to connect to site from Dashboard designer

    Recently we moved the Reports site collection from one environment to other. So the Performance point content is also copied.Now I wanted to change the report paths that were deployed using Performance point services. When I try to open the report file from
    perforamnce pointcontent  list it shows unexpected error. If I am trying to connect to the using Dashboard designer it says URL is not available does not reference Sharepoint Site or you do not have permissions to connect.
    Pleasee see the attached file for more details.
    How do the reports be fixed when they are to be deployed using Performance point services(Dashboard designer). Unfortunately we do not have the dashboard designer ddwx file with us. Its been developed by vendor and they have not given us.
    How should the Dashboard reports(SSRS Report )  be moved from one environment to other.What is the best way to move the performance point dashboards from one environment to other.
    Environment- Sharepoint 2010

    At both site-collection level and web application level you need to enable SharePoint designer. Did you do that ?
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mcsnoiwb/archive/2010/07/01/locking-down-sharepoint-designer-2010.aspx
    Opening site in SP Designer also needs WebDAV to be enabled on the web front end servers. If the problem still persists, simultaneously open up fiddler and see what's the error message you are getting. That may give you some clue to proceed

  • Bursting to WebDAV problem

    Hello,
    I'm trying BI Publisher's (10.1.3.4) bursting functionality. The generated documents need to be delivered over WebDAV (in the real scenario to Oracle UCM but in my test cases I'm using Jackrabbit WebDAV server). Finally got everything to work but I have a question and a problem.
    The question first - how can I define authtype for WebDAV bursting delivery? As you can see from the following log, it first tries to use Digest and after that Basic which is the right one.
    The problem is performance - it takes 10-15 seconds between the following log statements (in every environment/approach combination I could think of). The problem is at BIP's end as WebDAV servers (both UCM and Jackrabbit can handle WebDAV requests from other clients noticeably faster):

    </xapi:requestset>

    Okay this is going to be a super elaborate answer but I believe you have some options....
    1. setup the xdodelivery.cfg. The xdodelivery.cfg allows the following attributes to be set:
    <server type="webdav" >
    <host>
    <port>
    <uri>
    <username>
    <password>
    *<authType>* you would put basic here
    <encType>
    <proxyHost>
    <proxyPort>
    <proxyUsername>
    <proxyPassword>
    <proxyAuthType>
    <filter>
    You really want to use XDO delivery.cfg. It is so much cleaner and easier to maintain. With that said, you can use the bursting designer to test this sucker pretty easily. The bursting designer supports xdodelivery.cfg and so does oracle bursting! A lot of people don't know that.....
    Now, this is where it gets tricky. You will want to leave the server value blank or null in the control file. Oracle will go and look for a server type ="webdav" and where default="true". The con with solution is that it only works for one server.....
    At this point in time oracle doesn't allow a server alias attribute in webdav. You could make a case for logging a ticket for them to create that in the control file. You could also make the case that they should support more attributes like the printer delivery....(check out the bursting designer and you'll see what I mean)

    2. Create a ticket with oracle.
    You might be able to manipulate one of the properties for the delivery itself. You can try using the delivery designer and see which one property might work. I think you already know which one, it will be easier when you log a ticket with oracle support. You also, could potentially change the timeout option too.

  • OCS10g + CS beta - Problem with WebDav / ODrive

    Hello
    I have an OCS 10.1.1.0.2 with and CSBeta 10.1.2.
    I have a login problem with webdav using Oracle Drive or MSWebFolders : login does not work, and I get the following lines (see below) in the application.log.
    Of course, the user I'm using HAS an ftp password defined (well at least I did define it several times to be sure, on the CS web ui ). Other users work.
    Any clue ?

    The FdkException detailed error is misleading - it has nothing to do with FTP passwords not being set.
    Essentially, what is happening is that we are first trying to lookup the user in OID and get from them the authpassword;orclcommonpwd attribute and in particular the value of X- ORCLIFSMD5. For some reason, this is not set for your user - or at least it is not returning anyway. Then we are reverting over to check for an application specific version of the authpassword attribute - which also does not return any value for X- ORCLIFSMD5.
    The only way these verifiers can be set is by authenticating with cleartext as the end-user in question. This could be done by logging in via SSO for example.
    I would try doing an ldapsearch against OID from the realm's user search base for your user in question. Check to see if the authpassword verifiers are set. If they are not set, try authenticating via SSO as the user to some application - and then once again run the ldapsearch to see if the verifiers were generated. once the authpassword;orclcommonpwd verifiers are generated for X- ORCLIFSMD5, you should be able to authenticate via Oracle Drive through DAV.
    thanks,
    Matt.

  • WebDAV Write Unreliability - Large non-XML Files

    I am unable to get Oracle's WebDAV implementation on Windows XP to reliably store large (1 Megabyte +) files that are not XML, without unexplained errors occurring, which result in only part files being transferred.
    For testing I started using the repository folders created by the XDB Basic Demo, using Windows Explorer WebDAV as the client to insert files of varying sizes. Files in excess of 1 megabyte files fail more often than succeed, but I have occasionally succeeded in storing files of many megabytes. Because they were handy I mainly used ZIP files to insert into the Oracle XML DB repository. When the files were renamed to extension, .xml, they always succeeded.
    To eliminate client error, I have also used DavExplorer with the same symptoms observed. No problems were experienced retrieving large files from the Oracle XML DB Repository. My tests were performed using Oracle 9.2.0.5 and 10.1.0.2. The same problem did not occur when using Oracle's FTP interface, and when using the "native" Apache 1.3 and Apache WebDAV implementations.
    This failure is a major problem for our application, which would otherwise fit very well with Oracle XML DB features. Our application provides an authoring environment for a large collection of small XML files, but also has to allow storage of some related GIF, PDF and Microsoft Offices files. Our customers are large corporates, who would prefer to use Oracle for this requirement and for related data processing requirements.
    In case, it is relevant, we are not restricted to running Oracle on XP, with Unix platforms being a more likely option for our customers.
    I could not find details of the error logged by the Oracle software, using either database version. The only information I have gathered about the failure was provided by adding the following line to sqlnet.ora:
    TRACE_LEVEL_SERVER=4
    The trace output for a failure is as follows:

    Thanks Mark.
    Unfortunately I'm not currently in a position to test on Unix, but understand that I need to do so. It may be a couple of weeks before I can test on Linux, as "IT Support" will need to install an OS version officially supported by Oracle. If we win the work we'll have the required hardware, but we have to demonstrate it working first.
    Note, in my test circumstance transfers work fine using FTP, and only fail using WebDAV when the file extension is not .xml.

  • TREX indexing on content server performance

    Hi guys,
    Our Portal is integrated with SAP CRM (using webdav) that manages documents stored in SAP content server. We use TREX to index these documents such that users in Portal can search for these documents. Currently we're evaluating the performance of indexing and searching, thus if we have a heavy load of documents to index, would it affect the SAP CRM/Content server that is the document repository? (such as memory consumption, performance, etc..)
    Thanks,
    ZM

    Hi Chris,
    do you use the ContentServer in the DMS application? If yes, you need to index documents stored in the DMS_PCD1 docu category.
    Regards,
    Mikhail
