Webdav Repositories

I am trying to setup a webdav repository.  I used the help.sap.com and it states I can find the webdav url for current repositories in the details/properties/access links.  However, when I go there, this is the url available:
http://<%hostname%>/irj/go/km/docs/documents
I copied the url into my browser of of course it does not work. However, when I manually replace the <%hostname%> with mycomputername:50000, it works.  My question is, how do I configure the webdav url.  It seems like in other portals this was created by default, but in this portal the above link is there.  Can I change this default configuration so the webdav links have the correct URL?
Thanks in advance.

the link i posted originally is the link from where you state to go.  I am wondering how I can configure that so it shows up by default.
In the help.sap.com, it states to go where you directed me and I had already gone, but the link is not correct.
Any ideas of how to change the default webdav link for repositories?
thanks for your quick response and ideas.

  • Copy to webdav repositorie

    Hello,
we are using EP6 sp 10.
I want to copy every night some files from a windows filesystem to a (cm) repositorie of our portal.
I can't find a way to automate this. Copy and paste to the webdav location works fine.
But I can not find tools that support copying to webdav location.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
You could write a java program that uploads the file periodically. Download the following zip file which has documentation and library files.
    http://apache.mirrors.versehost.com/jakarta/slide/binaries/jakarta-slide-webdavclient-bin-2.1.zip
Let me know if you need a sample project.

  • WebDav Repository - MS Sharepoint Integration

    Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to apply the things I read in the article "Interoperability between SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and Windows SharePoint Services" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/9e891378-0601-0010-5386-a3387f1b161b).
It's about configuring WebDav repositories to access HTTP Systems. I'm trying to acces documents stored in MS Sharepoint.
I'm having a problem with security.
The IViews I use to access the WebDav repository I defined are working well and showing the content stored in MS Sharepoint.
My problem is that those IViews are showing the info with the privileges granted to the user I've used to define the HTTP System.
In that config screen, there's a checkbox that says "Same user domain". Its hint says that if it is checked, the credentials of the logged user would be forwarded to the http server, but this is not happening.
I'm logging on to SAP Portal with an user that has no permissions in Sharepoint and i'm still seeing the documents and I can even upload new documents.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance, Fede.

    Hi all,
the WSS WebDAV Connector (aka "SharePoint WebDAV Connector, SWC) was released some days ago and a new Interoperability Section on Microsoft-sap.com is now live.
See http://www.microsoft-sap.com/technology.aspx --> SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) for the WSS WebDAV Connector.
In the SWC documentation there are some hints for the configuration of the security requirements / authentication types which should be helpful for your problem.

  • Linking two KM systems

    Hi,
I want to link two 2004s KM systems.
One KM should be the main system to hold the repository with all data.
The second system should use the same repository as the first one and shall build only a interface to the first system.
The reason why I want to do so is to use the KM API installed on the second system to let a WebDynpro application on the second system search for documents on the first system.
Could anyone please help me how to set up KM to do so?
    Kind regards,
    Dietmar

    Hi,
I have never done it before but you should look into adding external repositories. In the portal you can attach various document locations. This can be your mailserver (a exchange repository), a website or even another KM portal.
I`m not sure but I pretty sure you can add your other KM in you current portal by creating a WEBDAV repository. Webdav being the protocol portalKM`s can talk to each other. Once done you will get an extra KM folder on you current  KM showing the complete other KM. (at least if you pick the root)
Go to System ad;ininstration > Knowledge Managment > configuration > Repository managers > Webdav repositories.
    Hope this helps

  • What is the Best way to connect CRM Case Management with EP-KM?

    Hi Gurus,
We will implement a Case Management in CRM 7.0 EHP2  and  EP 7.31 with  KM.
The Client needs Clasifications and Search of the documents in Case Management, the number of documents could be 1,000, 000 aprox...
    I thing are 2 options :
    1) The documents are stored in CRM Repositories, and KM access him, (I know this is posible using WebDAV repositories), but I do not know if this could affects in some way the process in Case Management. And if CRM repositories can store the huge volume of documents.
    2) The documents are stored in KM Repositories, and CRM access him.
         -¿Is this posible?.
-¿CRM can access the documents without problem?
-How can store the documents to KM on line from CRM Case Management?
    What is the best solution?.
    Please Help.
    Best regards.

    Hello quinstar,
It sounds like you would like to use either your Personal HotSpot to AirPrint from your MacBook Pro or use an Airport to do so without internet access to the home. According to the following Featured Discussion you very well may be able to use AirPrint with Personal HotSpot:
HT4356 Can I use personal hotspot as wifi to connect printer?

Also, the Airport products to not need an active internet connection to set up a home Wi-Fi connection so that is another option as well.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Mapping a Font into JVM

    Hi folks!
First of all, excuse me because of my poor English.
Now I am going to explain you the heart of the problem: I must map "Verdana" font (that is available in all of Window OSes, so it's not by default included into any JVM) so I can use this under a Linux distribution that seems doesn't have this devil thing installed.
We must use "Verdana" under Linux making the JVM see this font as a default one!
    Thanks,

    Hi Carlos,
    1) Configured the WebDAV repository manager
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/4a/217fb6c33c6748a1715a161ac942cd/frameset.htm
Look through the process flow and at the end of it, you should have created and configured a WebDAV repository manager
    2) Restarted the system

Some may say SubVersioN is the way to go, it's been
    redesigned to address
    some shortcomings in CVS

Dreamweaver has native support for Microsoft Visual
    SourceSaFe
Dreamweaver can use WebDAV repositories natively, and you can
    use apache as
    a WebDAV frontent for SubVersion.

  • KM WebDav URL is wrong

    Hi folks,
I am working on a project to replace our existing EP 7.0 Portal, which relies heavily on KM for it's content, with an Enterprise Portal 7.0 in a cluster.
I have built the new cluster system, "Portalnew" and then transported the System Landscape, Portal branding, PCD content and KM content using their respective tools from the old portal, "Portalold".
For the KM Configuration, I used the tools in System Administration --> System Configuration --> Knowledge Management --> Content Management (Then Actions - Export - Start) to transport it.
For the KM Content, I used the Content Administration --> KM Content --> Export/Import iView to move all the repositories and stored documents.
Now, to the problem. These things all transported just fine, but when I look at the properties of my KM content objects (Example a Word Document, or even a GIF that is embedded in an iView) The WebDAV URL on server 'Portalnew' reads:
    http://portalold.dnssuffx.com/km/docs....etc etc
WebDAV seems to be still pointing to the old server for it's URL???
I've looked all through the Content Management configuration, as well as through the, Service Configuration, Visual Admin and Configtool, with no luck (There are a lot of areas to look through, I think I've been thorough, but it's entirely possible I missed something)
I beleive this value is obtained though a variable, as I've seen reference to "http://<servername>:<port>/..." before, but I can't find where this is coming from.
Has anybody seen anything like this?
Any suggestions as to where to look?
    Thanks,
    Troy

ceck the URL generator service in the global services section of the CM config. Its an advanced option.

  • Performance KM repository - Filesystem vs. WebDAV

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to KM repositories so I hope this question makes sense.
I've got 2 Filesystem Repositories in my KM. One server is remote and reachable via a 4 MBit/s cable, the other one is located within the intranet.
When I browse both filesystem in EP, the response time of the intranet server filesystem is acceptable, whereas the response time of the remote filesystem is very slow.
So far not astonishing. But when I browse both filesystems via Windows Explorer both have nearly the same performance (also 4 MBit/s vs Intranet).
    My question:
    1) What could be the reason for that? Is it maybe a different protocol?
    2) Would it maybe help if I try to embed the remote filesystem via WebDAV repository?
    3) What exactly are the differences between WebDAV repository and filesystem Repository? Regarding performance and functioanlity!
    4) Is it possible to use the filesystem via WebDAV and also make changes directly on the fileystem?
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
    Joschi

    1) SMB is known not to perform well with bigger latencies (I think). Not sure why this doesn't show in Windows Explorer. Maybe heavy caching?
    2) You can try that.
    3) Performance may be better, because WebDAV protocol exchanges have been designed for this purpose.
    4) Yes.
    Best regards, Julian

  • Can cm_createdby and cm_modifiedby be filled using WebDAV Rep Manager?

    Hello everyone
I have got a rather simple question regarding the WebDAV Repository Manager or perhaps it's more correct to say the WebdAV Protocol.
Does any of you know if it is possible to integrate from a file server into EP KM using the WebDAV Repository Manager, and then be able to show properties like cm_createdby and cm_modifiedby in KM even though the properties were created/edited on the file server?
    Kind regards,
    Martin

    Hi Julian
If you go to Properties > Summary Tab > Origin for a word document there is both an Author and a Last Saved By entry. I was wondering if it would be possible to map these attributes into KM through the WebDAV Repository manager, but apparently not? (I know these attributes are only available for certain office documents).
This changes my question a bit - and I'm afraid I will not like the answer.
    Question:
If I have implemented a number of files using the WebDAV repository manager into Portal KM, is there a way in which I can display an author/document responsible? I guess I cant get the Author-property from the fileserver, but is there any way I can maintain an author/document responsible attribute from KM then? Or is that only possible using CM repositories in FSDB and DBFS modes?
I will not be able to change my integration from WebDAV to CM repositories in FSDB- or DBFS-mode bacuse thay solution does not support SSO.
    Kind regards,
    Martin

  • WebDav/PortalDrive Errors

    Hello All-
I'm looking for any Webdav experts out there.  I getting errors moving files to CM repositories using WebDAV and PortalDrive.  I'm pretty sure it isn't PortalDrive's problem b/c I get errors both ways.  PortalDrive is helpful though because it gives a reason.  Here are the errors I'm getting: Error 1229.  An operation was attempted on a nonexistent network connection (when I am trying to save a file back to the repository using WebDAV); Error 87: The Parameter is incorrect (when trying to upload a doc) and, occasionally, Error 58: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.  I've dug through the Portal logs but can't see anything obvious and as I said, these look suspiciously like errors with the protocol/connectivity.  Anyone recognize these errors and know what might be causing them?
I'm using the latest version of PortalDrive (4.4.91 WXP) and my portal is EP6 sp14 (both EP & KM).
Points awarded for any and all helpful answers-
    Thanks-
    Jim Orbin

    Thanks Julian-
Oops looked in the wrong logs.  Here's what I'm getting:  PI: 0x1019 - X_E_TIMEOUT: Operation did not finish in specified time period
SYS: 10060 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
    [RRECONNECT]
I've been over the WebDAV settings but I don't see any settings that would let me extend the time period.  Is this a setting in the J2EE engine?

  • Difference between Web DAV, File system, simple web repositories

    Hello all,
can somebody please tell when we use webdav, file system, simple web repositories and for what application swe use? And what are the differences between these three?
What is a crawler? and Index in KM?
Thanks in advance. I appreciate your help.
    //Raj.

    Hi Raj,
As Kyle said in the last message, you can find the information you wanted in the SAP Help Portal.
I have some experience on using the WebDAV and want to share with you. There is some bugs in WebDAV on renaming the document / folder for non-English language. So, don't use WebDAV for renaming file / folder under such environment. If you want to do so, you should better do so in the EP.
    Best regards,
    Marcus
