WebDB and CGI Wrapper with Apache

Has anyone had any success using the cgi wrapper that oracle provides for running webdb on Apache (or others). I got it to work pretty much but once I log in to webdb the wdbcgi executable crashes:
[Thu Feb 10 16:47:45 2000] [error] [client 208.229.24.130] malformed header from
script. Bad header=Segmentation fault: /ccweb/cgi-bin/wdbcgiw
Any ideas?

I am trying to install and configure WebDB to work with Apache
server and have a few questions. My system is Red Hat 5.2 with
Oracle 8.0.5.
1)Should the port number for WebDB install be the same or
different from the port number used by Apache server. How do
they talk to each other?
2)Do I need to install the WebDB listener even if I only need
the Apache? Do I need to start the WebDB listener?
3)How does the Apache server talk with the database server?
4)Can the WebDB be installed at the same ORACLE_HOME for
database server? Can the Apache and Database server and WebDB
listener exist on the same machine?
Any answers to any above questions are appreciated.

Thanks for clarifying some of confusions I had.
After going through several installations and de-installations,
I still could not login to the Oracle database using ../cgi-
bin/wdbcgiw. I always got a authentication failure.
I could login using the WebDB listener. When I set the listener
settings(using ../cgi-bin/wdbcgiw/admin_/gateway.htm), I got a
message that DAD setting could not changed.
I believe that someone already posted a similar problem. Could
you or someone help pointing us the right direction.

Right problem with apache and tomcat

Bonjour;
I use a user login "apache" to stop/start Apache and tomcat. Because never launching apache et tomcat as root.
But I have the following problem with apache (file error.log) :

Need Urgent Help with Apache and PHP

I have been struggling with apache and php for a week now and I finally broke down to post a message.
I have apache 1.3 running on my mac mini g4 with 10.4.9 and I installed sql. I went to the entropy website and downloaded php5 to install without knowing I already had php4 on the machine. I installed 5 but could not get it to work. I then went back to httpd.conf and tried to install php4 by uncommenting out the loadmodule and addmodule lines. I restarted apache but php still did not work. I tested the phpinfo.php script but all I got was the script in Safari and not the actual page. At the moment, I have php4 and php5 on my machine but can't get either one to work. I am sure there is an easy fix but I don't know it. Please help.

The problem is not terribly complicated, but Apache will not start with the entropy file in the folder
/etc/httpd/users/
Let me experiment on you. Rename the entropy file and then try to start Apache. To do this, open Terminal and paste this command:
<pre>sudo mv /etc/httpd/users/+entropy.conf /etc/httpd/users/+entropy<pre>
Now check the Apache configuration:
<pre>apachectl configtest<pre>
If it says "Syntax OK", start Apache:
<pre>sudo apachectl start<pre>
Since we only disabled the entropy file, you should be able to enable PHP5 with some more advanced configuring.

Problems with Apache and custom JSPs

We've made an application on top of IFS, using JWS in our test envirnment. Just before making some stress tests, I'd like to try it using Apache. We're currently having two problems:
1) I switch to the apache configuration running ifsconfig and not selecting JWS. When I try to access the ifs using http://host/ifs/files, everything goes well except that the "logout" icon doesn't appear. I did a little research and found out that the link goes to /ifs/webui/images/logout.gif. This gives an error in mod_jserv.log, like this one:
[07/06/2001 22:54:20:315] (ERROR) ajp12: Servlet Error: ClassNotFoundException: webui
It seems it's trying to find a "webui" class, since in ifs.properties every url that begins with /ifs goes to jserv.
I don't know if this is a know problem or what should I've check...
2) This one is more important. We're using some custom JSPs, which we use to edit the properties of some types of documents. Basically, when the user clicks over a file one of our JSP appears. These JSPs call a bean to do some processing, passing the HttpRequest as a parameter. The problem is that when using JWS we get the "path" request variable like in path=/%3A29464
However, when using Apache we get path=/ifs/files/%3A29464 ( and afterwards we get an exception because the ifsSession.getPublicObject method doesn't work).
Any hints on this? One way could be to check if the path begins with /ifs/files, but that's not really nice.. and besides I could have the same problem in some other parts.

Hi,
The answer to your path problem is that you can make use of API to find out the current path so that it works both with Apache and with JWS. Follow the steps
1. import the oracle.ifs.adk.http package in your custom jsps
<%@ page import = "oracle.ifs.adk.http.*" %>
2. Then within your jsp use the method
getIfsPathFromJSPRedirect
<%= oracle.ifs.adk.http.HttpUtils.getIfsPathFromJSPRedirect(request) %>
This will give you the current path of the object on which you clicked on and which initiates the custom jsp.
You can look at the CMS application which has made use of this API. URL is

Choose, sample applicatin -> Content Management system.

Problems with mobile projects with apache flex 4.8 and an overlay of the latest air sdk

Using flash builder 4.7 beta, apache flex 4.8 and an overlay of the latest air sdk, i got resolution problems while testing the mobile app (windows version on windows 7) with the air (ipad)emulator. That means the emulator is much bigger than my screen (logicaly seen the resolution of my screen and also like this in earlier version), but the app is much smaller than the emulator. As I have no design view with apache flex 4.8, I don't know where to start searching. Can anyone give me some input?

I don't see any error on creating new projects and running the same.
Where did you get the installer from?
What is the framework linkage type? You can check this in project properties -> flex build path. It should be Merged into code for Apache SDK.

Using Resin and Weblogic with Apache

Hi,
Does anybody know if i can use Weblogic to serve JSP and Resin to
serve some servlets within Apache?
Let me explain the case:
We are testing to setup Weblogic with Apache as the webserver.
Weblogic will be used to serve the JSP pages so i configured the
httpd.conf as follows:

MatchExpression *.jsp
WebLogicHost localhost
WebLogicPort [port]
</IfModule>
This works fine and i can serve the jsp-pages without any problems.
Since we work with thirdparty software we need to use Resin too. This
is not much trouble to implement in Apache and i can make sure that
some servlets are handled by caucho instead of Weblogic:
<Location /servlet/Inventory>
SetHandler caucho-request
</Location>
The above request works fine too!
However i have to load the resin.conf file for full use of Resin in
Apache. This setting however implicates that JSP pages aren't served
by Weblogic anymore but are sent to Resin also. Even with the
MatchExpression setting in httpd.conf, Apache still thinks JSP needs
to be sent to Resin instead of Weblogic.
Is there some way i can make sure that the JSP pages are served by
Weblogic and not by Resin???

Well, i figured it all out and if anyone would like to give it a try
to, just do the following.
The mod_caucho.so file was compiled with the option to handle .jsp
files. I hashed out the following line in
/src/c/plugin/common/config.c:
cse_add_locatio ..... jsp etc.
And then i configure the mod_caucho.so with:
./configure --with-apxs=/apps/apache/bin/apxs
Now i have a perfect mod_caucho.so file which does not handle .jsp.
All calls with .jsp are processed by weblogic, just as i wanted!

When I first used the following URL: http://<server>/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?config=SOB/,
I was required to install jinitiator (1.3.1.9). Upon installation of jinitiator I got the "Forms Server is sucessfully installed" window/dialog(whaterver) that has an OK button. After I press the button I get a teal sqaure on the screen and have waited for up to 5 full minutes. Nothing. So, I leave IE6 browser and try again. Exactly the same.
But, If I enter the URL:
http://<server>/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=d:\sob\opening_menu.fmx&userid=<user/password@<tnsentry>&otherparams=useSDI=yes&lookAndFeel=oracle&colorScheme=teal,
my form opens with a BIG exception: my toolbar fails to shows up.
IF the second URL would show my toolbar I would be "happy" but not completely satisfied. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong. The truly frustrating this is that I have set up 6i Rel 1 with the WebDB listener many times. Why not Apache? Did I miss something really simple?
I post this here since on Metalink they say Oracle does not support "3rd party" web servers (despite article 72452.1 that specifically deals with Apache?).
Has anyone sucessfully done this? Can it be done?

Hi,
the problem with this URL "http://<server>/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?config=SOB/" is the slash at its end. Try without and the formsweb.cfg file should be able to serve your application. The form you see by your approach is test.fmx that is called whenever someone calls a Forms application not specifying an appliaction module. Because "SOB/" is not a valid entry in your formsweb.cfg file, there is no Forms module which makes Forms launching its test.fmx file (its there to say that the server works, pressing ok quits the application)

Svn with Apache Timeout issue

I've set up an svn Server with Apache folloing your wiki on my raspberry pi.

Unfortunately I get errors when I try to commit several files (15 or so). I think it is a timeout issue, however I don't know where to specify the timeout in the httpd.conf (or httpd-ssl.conf)

Remember that Arch Arm is a different distribution, but we try to bend the rules and provide limited support for them. This may or may not be unique to Arch Arm, so you might try asking on their forums as well.

I Need PHP 5.3 no longer avail in a VC6 compatable with Apache 2.2.15

I appologize if this question is already answered somewhere (I did search a bit)..
1. I have written a significant amount of my site using functions only available in PHP 5.3+ (ie not in PHP5.2)
( see php.net /manual/en/migration53.new-features.php )
2. PHP (in thier infinite wisdom) have decicided that not only is there no longer a VC6 (ie Apache 2.2.15 compatable) build of php 5.3.6 but they removed the 5.3.3 build and are offering only 5.2.17 in a VC6 build suitable for use with the version of Apache built into FMS4.
(see windows.php.net/download/ and note the lines:
Do NOT use VC9 version with apache.org binaries.
and
VC9 versions of Apache can be fetched at Apache Lounge. We use their binaries to build the Apache SAPIs.)

The recommended approach to upgrading the Apache web server is to install or build the Apache server in a directory that is separate from the existing server. Then copy the contents of newly-installed directories to the existing server.

My Question is:
Does this even work? I sounds like a REALY BAD idea to me to instal a version of Apache built to use the Visual C 9 runtime and then kludge in an httpd.conf file that starts loading modules that were built to interact with a version that uses the Visual C 6 library. Has anyone actually done this successfully???
I don't blame the FMS developers here (well except for the really bad idea of making Apache "part" of the FMS package in the first place) but you a shipping with a version of Apache that is incompatable with PHP! (OK, the _latest versions_ of PHP.. but that still makes this _your_ problem.. and a big problem at that if you ask me).

AWStats and CGI on SA7

Hello,
Trying to setup AWStats on OSv5.9. to do this I have to setup CGI. Is it my understanding (from the documentation) that .pl files and CGI in general are installed by default?
That all I have to do is setup the vhost prefix and path and CGI magically works?
I tried this and I get a "404 not found" when i tryto access the /cgi-bin/awstats.pl or any other .pl file 9from the browser).
Can anyone relay any specific experience in setting CGI up?

WebDB and Appache

I have WebDB 2.2 on RH 6.0 with 8i8.1.6, Apache 1.3
I can access Apache from my windoze clients but can't get any of the Webdb admin pages or webdb itself. This works from my clients http://localhost/apache.htm
The error i'm getting in the apache log file is Exec format error: exec of /home/httpd/cgi-bin/wdbcgiw failed.
I can access webdb from the server with the webdb listener at port 2000 so WebDB is working ok.
Any ideas?

Had the same problem, solved it. The solution is to use your network IP address, not your domain name for example 111.111.111.111 instead of whatever.pacbell.net.
You will probably have to reinstall your webdb.
Please tell me, how did you integrated webdb into apache ?
