Webdb2.2 VS PORTAL30

I used to have webdb2.2 and there is big differences with protal 3.0 in terms of building new site.
I login as webdb on webdb2.2, create newsite,
then this site will automatically create dad for me plus 3 users : + admin and public
to whom I can grant permision to manage that site.
how to do this in portal3.0 ?

We changed the architecture dramatically in 3.0. In 2.2 we created a new database schema for each site created. In 3.0 any number of sites (renamed content areas) can be created and maintained in the single portal schema. Creating a new content area (site) is as easy as selecting the create content area link on the build page and filling out the wizard. All portal users are now 'lightweight' in that we don't create a database user for each portal user so you can create new users and assign them privileges on the new content area directly in the portal.

I am on Compaq TRU64 UNIX. I have 9iAS installed with portal30 with database name WEBPRTL. I have around 300 reports(in the form of PL/SQL PACKAGES) generated by WEBDB2.2 on another database WDB. How can I have portal30 retrieve the reports from WDB?

It is a long process. You need to upgrade your webdb 2.2 to portal 3.0.6 , then upgrade from 3.0.6 to 3.0.9. After that make sure your source and target portal have the same version number and then export/import from source to target.

Single Sign-on and PORTAL30 DAD

What I've done:
1) Setup up PORTAL30 DAD with Single Sign-on
2) Created schema called JOHN with "hello world" procedure call TEST
3) Grant execute on TEST to PORTAL30
4) Goto http://<servername>/pls/portal30/john.test
5) Receive "Procedure Doesn't Exist" error
6) Change DAD from single sign-on to Basic authentication
7) Repeat Step 4 with no problems

1)Before discussing about the Sign on i want to know which connectivity you are using ? Live offcie or QaaWS.
2) We can make the second point possible in two ways One is with providing restriction at universe level
and the other one is through the use of flash variables.
Using flash variables:
The main idea of using flash variables is reading the User ID from BO authentication and based on that we fetch the Heirarchy level of that user. Then we use some excel logic to hide the data from Low level heirarchy(Here we use Dynamic Visibility for components).
I hope this is what you ar looking for....
If so i have more points to acheive such scenario.
Please provide the your BO environment details, such that it will be easy to identify the better best wat to acheve it.

Portal30 Installation/configuration problems.

Please share your solution in installing th Oracle Portal 3.0 (included in Oracle 9iAS installation.).
I am facing problem in its installation on WINDOWS 2000 server.
The first time I installed the Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2, the Portal30 and Portal30_sso were started . however while trying to configure the Porta-to-go I made some mistakes (What is to be given in the HTTP and HTTPS ports for the Web Integration developer preferences configuration and what is to be given in the settings of Web Integration Server at HTTP/HTTPS Port, User, etc.??).
Then I made mistake in uninstalling the 9iAS as I straightaway started the Universal Installer for deinstallation without first uninstalling the forms server, report server , etc, using oracle installer, then uninstalling the Portal30 7 Porta30_sso.
Any way I removed all the entries from the registry and also removed the directories from the disk.
When I started my installation for 9iAS database cache and Web cache configuration failed. But Portal 30 showed successfull . However there were some error messages dispalyed during the configuration of Portal30 as below:

Error while loading
org/w3c/dom/html/HTMLHeadingElement
ORA-29506 invalid query derived from using clause.
ORA-00942 table or view does not exist.
Error while accessing MD5 table.
When I did the other post installation configuration and tried to access the Portal30 home page error message as below was displayed :
call to WPG_SESSION failed.
error code 4068
Database login failed. TNS is unable to connect to destination. Invalid TNS address
supplied or destination is not listeneing.
The problem could be due to in correct TNS String or it may be due to Listener not started or due to underlying network.
I checked everything. Listener was started, TNS service name was correct (in the ORACLE_HOME of 9iAS \network\admin directory) and the underlying network was proper. DAD parameters were also correct.
However, when I checked the PWG_SESSION PACKAGE BODY status It was showing INVALID. When I checked the installation log..it showed error messages like table MD5 not found...
I am unable to configure my PORTAL30..Please help...or where can I get the solution...

How to create a report based on the portal30.wwsbr_all_items?

Hi,
I created items in a folder in a content area. I would like to create a portal report and display the items of the folder of the content area.
I logged in the database as portala30 and issued the following statement:
SELECT ID,NAME FROM WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS WHERE CAID = 331
AND FOLDER_ID = 49959;
(I found out the caid for content area and folder_id for folders
from the portal30.wwsbr_all_content_areas, and portal30.wwsbr_all_folders.)
I have a row returned from my query in sqlplus (which is correct).
Then I go into portal as portal30-> application(based on portal30 schema) -> create a report,
use the same sql statement that I used above, and I got the following error message at run time:
Error: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-11230)
Failed to parse as PORTAL30_PUBLIC - SELECT ID,NAME FROM PORTAL30.WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS order by rowid (WWV-08300)
Note: I did run the sbrapi.sql to grant access to the content area api to portal30_public.
What else I am missing?

The things i've seen is that you must remove the ';' character because you don't need it with the report component.

I've done this when i've got this error and it solve the problem.

Error creating dynamic page in an application with a schema other than portal30

Running 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Solaris.
Database 8.1.7.1
I cannot seem to create a default dynamic page (select 'x' from dual) in an application that has a schema (e.g. test) other
than portal30. The error seems to be when portal tries to compile the dynamic-page package, it references itself from
within the package but prefixing the call with the other (test) schema. It never seems to compile? What seems to be the
problem? Any ideas?

If you are using any database object other than the applcation owned,then it has to be prefixed with the schema owner.
For example,
if the application schema is based on the schema "schema1" (say)
and your query is based on one of the object on "schema2"
and if you have necessary privilegves to access that object from schema2, then the compiler wont throw any error.
Can u explain, what u problem you are experiencing in detail?
(Also, if u give me the portal version, I can cross-verify that).

WIll not Display portal30.home

I just installed Oracle 9i AS and it all seemed to work the I got a message that seemed to point to a problem with init.ora and require me to drop the portal30x users etc and run the config tool again. I did that and now get the following error:

This error looks really familiar. While I was fiddling around with my problems I was getting this error. I had changed the authentication mode for portal30 to basic instead of single sign on. When I changed it back, that error went away (only to be replaced by a different one, but it might fix your problem)

After deleting users they are not removed from portal30.wwsec_person

I am building a customized script to carry on users self registration.
the script is going great and user is created and i can log into portal
successfully with this new created user.
I relogin as portal administrator and delete this new user and now if i tried
to list portal users I cant see the user.
But when I try to rerun my script to recreate this user again it fails when I
investigated I found that it fails because the entry of this user is removed
from portal30_sso.wwsec_person while it still exists in portal30.wwsec_person
so the script fails as there is duplicate in primary key.
Is this a bug in portal 309 that when the user is deleted it is not removed
from portal30.wwsec_person

This is actually a combination of intended behavior/design and a bug.
Let me first explain why there is a user in both the PORTAL30_SSO schema as well as the PORTAL30 schema.
The definition of the user, that can log in, and defines the single sign-on account, is the user's entry in the
WWSEC_PERSON$ table in the PORTAL30_SSO schema. The SSO server actually just uses a subset of the
columns in this table -- those defined in the WWSSO_SSO_USER view.
The same table exists in the PORTAL30 schema, because there is a lot of common infrastructure code
shared by both applications (Login Server, and Portal). The Security and Session Management code
is common, and this code includes the dependency on the WWSEC_PERSON$ table.
Now, assuming that the code was independent (for the sake of argument), why do we still have an entry
for the user in both schemas? As I mentioned earlier, the user entry in the SSO schema is the "master".
The SSO server can have multiple partner applications connected to it. Indeed, on my.oracle.com, the
login server there has at least 4 portals hooked up to it, and a few other non-Portal partner applications,
such as Oracle Mobile.
Each partner application may have a local user profile that it uses to store application specific attributes
of the user. This is stuff that the Login Server is not interested in, and could in no way predetermine for
all conceivable partner applications. So, it is not unreasonable for each partner application to also have
a user record which stores additional attributes of the user (not related to user authentication), and which
can be used to reference other user-related data. For example in the Portal, all the user's privileges
and group memberships are tied to the Portal's user record (foreign key constraints). So, the Portal
being just one partner application of the Login Server, it adhere's to this model and has a user entry
in it's schema corresponding to the user entry in the Login Server.
When a user logs on and accesses a partner application for the first time, the partner application (read Portal)
is expected to automatically create a local profile entry for the user on demand. The Portal does this.
In 3.0.9 and previous versions, to delete a user, you need to delete the user in the Login Server AND the Portal.
The only way to do this is to first delete the user in the Login Server, using the User Portlet.
Then type the user's name into the Portal User Profile portlet (they won't be in the LOV anymore since
you just deleted them from the login server), and click Edit, then Reset To Defaults (this means delete).
You will then get a User Not Found error, since the page is trying to go back to show the details about this user.
(All this has been fixed in 9.0.2 v2, by the way).

I change the code to include "portal30.wwctx_api.get_user()" that way I know now that the user without login is "PUBLIC" so I change the permissions to include ANY_USERS/CREATE and ANY_GROUP/MANAGE but I'm still receiving the "portal30.wwsec_api.access_denied_exception" exception.
What else can I do?

about the addDataSource using the Java API, for now you have to disable the security
in order to add the data source using the MapViewer client API.
You can do that editing the MapViewer config file:

Assuming that you have added your data source, and you have rendered some map,
you can get the attribute information using the "identify" methods of the
MapViewer client API.
1) To identify one individual geometry:
String [][] result = mapviewer.identify(dataSource,table_name,columns,

where: "columns" contains the table attribute names that
you want to retrieve
x,y represents the device coordinate.
2) To identify geometries inside a rectangle:

where the rectangle coordinates are defined by xlowleft,ylowleft,

Don't Want to Give User URL of server/pls/portal30 How Do I Redirect User?

Hi,
How do I perform a redirect so if my portal application is at
myserver/pls/portal30, but all i want is for my end-users to
type in the server name and it redirects them to the portal
app? I also do not want end-users obviously to hit the Apache
page.

Just create an html file with this code :

Save it in the path $OAS9i_HOME/Apache/Apache/htdocs as
index.html.
When the user access http://server the html file is going to
make the redirection.
Another solutions is putting this line in apache config file
(httpd.conf located on $OAS9i_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf):
Redirect / http://server/pls/portal30

it failed to add a new user with the same
name. I was prompt with the exception "
the user already exists"

PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.file_download failed

I have a table with a blob type, and in a form a File Upload Binary

This probably isn't what you want to hear but this API is not supported. That said, I've heard of people who have successfully implemented file upload using portal.

Permission to access PORTAL30.wwv_link_utilities.get_menu_link in menu frame mode

I have a menu and all the menu items run good in its default interface.
However, when I run it in the frame mode, none of the sub menu items work.
I got the following error message:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /pls/portal30/PORTAL30.wwv_link_utilities.get_menu_link('CM_PORTAL.LK_FORM_GE_MARKET_DECODE') on this server.
Any solution?

If you have installed portal with password case sensitivity on then you should try with correct case sensitive password. Assuming you
have not done any customization to Login Server and portal, it should work out of the box after installation. Please provide more
information about your problem and install configuration.
