Webdesigner sucht Ansetllung

Liebe User,

  • Dreamweaver CS5 webdesign lay-out problem + spry

    Hello there
I'm making a site, but I'm encountering some problems. I'm making one in Dreamweaver CS5 with CSS-styles. I decided to work with percentages to build up my site.
So my container has following measurements: containeris min-width: 640, max-width: 1920, width: 75% (to have 2 white backgroundcolums next to my site).
My sidebar is width: 21%, float:left and content is width 79%, float:right
I arranged the lay-out of my menu with submenu, placed in sidebar, with a sprymenubarvertical from Dreamweaver.
When I open up the site on my Dell E6510 laptop, the site looks as the first picture of below, so everything works fine!
When some computers, especially older ones open it up, the get the second picture.
So can anyone help me figuring out why:
    - The content is now placed UNDER my menu and not next to eachother?
    - Why did my menu turn white, did I loose my background image of it, and does he show the a:hover as normal?
    - Same as above for the submenu...
Then I'm having another problem: If I make the screen smaller of my browser, like half of the page, he shrinks the sidebar and content, but he doesnt shrink the font + the gallery from my content doesn't shrink either.
Also, the slideshow, made with Aleo slideshow maker, doesn"t show on mac.
Could this be solved by just making the widths fixed or is there another solution? Also, the slideshowgallery has a fixed width(as imported), how to make that automaticely go smaller if you shrink the screen?
    Any tips would we convenient!
The first picture is how it should be, second one is taken from how other computers see the site, third one is if I shrink the screen
    Thanks alot you guys

I'm sorry didn't mean to send any corrupted files or links.
In case it would help I added a link here where I uploaded my style.css, and my sprymenubar styles, with the basic template and the indexhtmlpage through Megaupload. I added the printscreens as well. I hope this will work.
If this isn't the right method of posting please tell me how to?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Photoshop Elements 8 - Webdesign?

    Let's back to topic.
Can I make any template in this version of PS? - I mean is there enough tools to do it.
I had had a trial of PS CS4 too, there is a something like "New guide", is in PSE this tool?
I can't buy PS CS, so I'm thinking about PSE.
Can you share your advices and knowledge about PSE 8 and webdesign, with me?
    Best Regards!

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Photography Plan as webdesigner

    Hi All!
I'd like to buy the Photography Plan for a year and my question is that can i use it as a webdesigner?
I'm making sites, designs, etc... sometimes i need to work also on photos also for clients as a freelancer.
    Thanks in advance!

As far as I understand being a professional photographer or making one’s living primarily with photography are not requirements.

  • Adobe's Webdesign workflow

    Hey there,
I'm a webdesigner, or rather a web programmer that also does some necessary design / layout. I've never been too good at design though.
In the past I was pretty fine using the Gimp and Netbeans for graphics and programming / layout.
Now that I got creative cloud for other purposes (film), I thought I might give the webdevelopment tools a try. It's day number two now, and I'm still kind of lost.
The new Edge tools looked pretty cool to me in their presentations, but while trying to use them they appear somewhat limited to me. By limited I mean there were these things that bugged me:
Point and click is nice, especially for initial layout and things like animations,  but I feel I'm not given the ability to handcode into the generated code, and thus pretty much limited to point and click.
Lack of integration / reusability. Edge Animate for example makes nice things, but produces a whole heap of code that would be a nightmare to integrate into my already existing website let alone tweak by hand. Placing .oam's in Muse create an iframe(?!).
What does reflow do? I threw up some test design, looked good in preview, and then? I have to admit I really didn't quite get this one, but it appears to be generating css only, correct? So would I have to recreate the corresponding html somewhere else?
Muse has this cool point-n-click parallax scrolling feature, but apart from that why would I want to save maybe ten minutes layouting with muse, when then later I get to spend hours on relocating, reorganizing and renaming all the files, styles, divs etc.
Dreamweaver looks like I'm never gonna touch it, and instead keep embracing netbeans
Obviously I must have missed the big picture, how things flow into each other, or maybe I just want to use it as something it is not.
What I would wish for the tools to do is let me create layout and interaction / animation, and at the end of it have some usable html + js that I can use and integrate in my cms / php scripts / template files (I like twig). Animating something with Edge animate, and then later filling it with twig would be real nice.
Now, people, can someone enlighten me?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
P.S.: Of course there are also things I liked about the tools (live preview on phone rocks for example), but for shortness' sake I didn't want to mention those.

Muse is consumer level web authoring software for hobbyists and non-coders.  You could quickly build a basic web site with it, but the price you pay for all that  "ease of use" is IMO very limited features and bloated code that's hard to work with in anything but MU.
Dreamweaver is pro-level software aimed at designers/developers who already have a working knowledge of basic web theory, HTML, CSS and server-side coding.  There's not much you can't do with DW.  You're only limited by your imagination and coding skills.   If you know the basics, you can learn to use DW in a weekend.   If you don't know code, the learning curve can be quite steep.
Edge Animate is for making interactive/moving elements with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.  Think of it as a replacement for Flash objects.  The resulting project files are very easy to import into Dreamweaver CS6 or CC with the Insert > Media menus.  See screenshot.
I don't know much about Twig so I can't comment on how well it would work in DW. I can tell you that DW CC supports other pre-processors such as SASS & LESS and promises to add more later...
    MU, forget about it.

Thank you for all help and sorry for my bad english.

    Hi,
PSE is a simple editting and organizing software and specially useful for hobbysts. I would say its the best buy among other softwares that are almost equally priced. I would suggest downloading and using a trial version of Photoshop Elements before going in for it. You can download it here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopel/

    <iframe title="Lightroom Gallerie" src="http://www.deineurl.de/gallerie/index.html" width="900" height="500" style="border: 0;"></iframe>

Also bis Montag 17 Uhr dann.
Viele Grüße und noch ein sonniges Wochenende,
    Sven

    Hallo Sven,
Was passiert beim schreiben des Druck-PDFs?

  • A "Webdesign Linux" approach

    Hi Arch folks!
I'm pretty new to arch. I did a couple of different installations, tried different desktops, window managers and all the stuff. I think I created a nice, working, all-purpose system now (using GNOME), but relating webdesign on that system I'm not satisfied at all.
It would be useful if the system and desktop were reduced to needs for webdesign.
Since some time I see more often people asking for the best webdesign applications, tools, widgets, gadgets, tools and linux-distributions which are best for webdesign.
But I don't think it's enough to just install the suggested software and use it within your existing system.
Now, the idea: As the most UI-Designers know, unnecessary stuff should be avoided, I think it would be easier and make webdesigners feel more comfortable when doing the work on a clean desktop.
@Webdesigners: Imagine you choose something like "Webdesign Arch" in the bootloader menu. Then you know, a working system will boot up which won't ask questions at all, autostarts needed stuff on bootup, a fast, sophisticated desktop will say hello and launchers can be found at the intuitvly expected, easy accessible place.
    The targets:
    1) a ready to use linux system
    2) fast desktop, reduced to webdesign needs but ...
    3) ... looking good, maybe some eye-candy like wallpaper, icons, themes and stuff which helps the webdesigner to get inspired
    4) most needed tools ready to use: different browsers, editors, graphics tools, some note taking widgets for collecting ideas, working and configured LAMP, maybe some multimedia apps like xmms for listening to music while thinking, news-reader with some recommended feeds and blogs
    5) at all: the webdesigner should feel comfortable on the desktop
    The issues/questions at board users:
@ target 1) I do know how to setup up and install the system, but I don't really know about the system internals:
      - Are really all packages from the arch-base installation needed for this approach?
      - Howto get all the stuff on a CD - ready to install with a few clicks?
@target 2) The LnF-Thread (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=18880) could be useful for choosing the packages and software, but I think XFCE is the best choice for this approach. Other suggestions and oppinions?
@target 3) Suggestions? There should not be too much eye-candy-stuff to keep the system small, but most used and community-favourite eye-candy-stuff should be included.
@target 4) Software as mentioned above, should be a selection of some experienced webdesigners in the arch-community
@target 5) Any suggestions to for this task?
So far the description of the idea.
Are there interested people for this approach? What's your oppinion about it? Could it really be useful? In general, what do you think about it?
If there are people who like the idea, then I don't want to make a big project about it. Just give the child a name, discuss the targets and suggestions, create the system and give it to the community.

To get it runnin' ... a list of packages which I think have to be included:
    Browsers
There need to be different browsers/engines to test the pages, as you know the look different...
    - Firefox representing the Gecko-engine
    - Opera
    - Internet Explorer: maybe a difficult challenge, and I don't like it cause for IE it's necessary to include wine...
    Graphics
    - GIMP or GIMP-Shop
    - maybe Blender (I really often see it in recommendation-lists for webdesign with linux)
    - xsane (scanning software), a must if you wanna use hand-drawn graphics
    Other stuff
    - XMMS: as I mentioned, an Audio-Player would be nice to help the designer to get inspired (sorry for my bad english, is it "get" inspired or "become" inspired or something different??)
    - eye-candy stuff: nice, inspiring wallpapers, themes, mouse icons, icon-themes, gdm or other login manager themes
    - PyPad: really easy and light editor for note taking or reading readmes of PHP-Scripts and all the stuff
    What's left?
    - Vector-Graphics software: Inkscape or, which I would prefer: XaraLX (see http://www.xaralx.org - any other suggestions?
    - Source-Code-Editor: Geany (nice but no code-completion), Bluefish (no code-completion, syntax highlighting is buggy, generally slow and you'll come in troubles when dealing with long lines), Quanta (in my oppinnion a bit overloaded, tries to give the developer everything but not comfortable, and: it needs QT...)
    - a simple picture viewer like the gnome standard viewer (don't know it's name)
    - file browser: pcmanfm, tuxcommander, mucommander, rox ???
    - something to manage network profiles, probably the simplest way is wifi-radar
    - clipboard manager, i think there is a plugin for xfce (if "we" use xfce for this little project)
    - FTP-client: maybe gftp or a filemanager with ftp-capabilities
    - login manager: i think GDM would be the best solution if we are "GTK+-ed"
    - any presentation software, something like powerpoint
    - an organizer
    - a note-taking tool
    - brainstorming/mindmapping software
    - RSS-reader
    Configuration and Ressources
    - launchers for the tools should be in place and easy accessible
    - nice theme should be standard
    - maybe include some short tutorials for things like power-managment (powernowd, cpufreq and the stuff) and for extending it with basic things which really should be users choice (IM, email-client)
    - Ressource collection with useful links (tutorials, AJAX-libraries and stuff like this, ebooks, links to software like CMS, BulletinBoards, ...)
    - RSS-reader configured with some recommended feeds (like A-List-Apart, and some others)
Any other suggestions? Would be nice if you post your choice, especially for the points in "What's left?" and "Configuration and Ressources"!

  • Webdesigning on a Mac - From a PC User's Prospective

I just recently purchased a mac to start using for design...now, I've been using a PC since 1993 and eventhough I've heard mac's are best for every type of multimedia design/production, I purchased one and made the switch.
    Now, here's my issue:
Working in Photoshop is obviously still as easy and all for me (as on the PC).
I decided to start back up on a website to see how Dreamweaveit doesn't look the same at all. The DW settings are still set at default - so I haven't changed anything. The mac seems to apply font smoothing to everything. Don't get me wrong, it makes the text content look great(!)...but it's not what I'm used to seeing on IE/Firefox. The font size point is not the same as the PC version - a size 9 on PC looks normal as in browser - on Mac it looks like a size 10 bold - hmm? (don't know what I'm missing). Has anyone else noticed this?
Also, DW is creating styles from my tags... umm I just want a simple inline font tag, if I wanted a style, I would create one myself.
What plays a factor in this? Do I need to change some sort of system preference? DW feature? Resolution size or the fact that I'm on a widescreen monitor? Not sure what to research first.
Any other mac users out there who can help me untangle this would be most appreciated.

It's a little hard for me to answer your questions because I only used Dreamweaver on the PC for a short time before I switched to the Mac. So I've got a lot more experience with the Mac version of DW than the PC version.
Regarding your question about inline font tags versus styles, were you using an earlier version of DW on the PC than you are now on the Mac? One change made from Dreamweaver MX (not sure on MX 2004, never had it) to Dreamweaver 8 that I noticed is the very issue you raise. Dreamweaver 8 is much more CSS reliant, and uses styles for several things that previously were done with HTML tags. I personally greatly prefer DW 8's use of CSS, but I can see where it might frustrate/annoy some people.
I'm pretty sure you can change this behavior by going to Dreamweaver->Preferences->General and then unchecking the box that says "Use CSS instead of HTML tags" under Editing Options.
As for the font display issues, you might try changing the settings in Preferences->Fonts.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help needed on webdesign, logo's, dynamic charts, etc.

This is my first post here on this forum, so forgive me for maybe not giving you all the relevant data.
    Background
Bill Gehrke and myself have developed a benchmark test for Premiere Pro CS5. Look here: PPBM5 Benchmark
Since last week I have made this site, the very first in my life with Dreamweaver CS4. It was the first time I used DW and let me tell you, for a PR user, it is really a whole lot different.
    Workflow
People go to the site, follow the Benchmark Instructions, download the ZIP file, run the test and mail the results to us.
We enter the data in a Excel spreadsheet and export that to .HTML format and upload it to the site. This can be seen in the Benchmark Results.
    Questions
Here is a screenshot of the spreadsheet:
There are three cells of interest: A2 which is a link to the Home Page, and M1 and M2, which link to two separate JPG charts.
What I want on the published HTML results page is overlaying the cell A2 with a logo, like on all other pages, but keep the current link underneath the logo intact to return to the Home page. Of course without impacting the layout of the spreadsheet. When trying to insert the logo, it looks like this in Live View, and that is not what I want. Look at the problem:
Second I want a Spry tooltip on the links to the charts, or another solution, that when one hovers the mouse on either field, it will display the linked to chart over the spreadsheet, untill the user moves the mouse away. One could also consider an overlayed thumb file of the chart, that automatically will be enlarged to full size with the Tooltip.
The complicating factor is of course that when new results are submitted and a new HTML file is created, it does not require new coding.
I have tried to do the overlays in Excel, but the export to HTML from Excel is pretty weak, and the overlayed pictures that show up fine in Excel, do not show up in DW or the site after uploading. One other complicating factor in Excel is that overlays disable the underlying link.
I hope this explains what I want to do. Maybe some of you, far more knowledgeable and experienced, have some suggestion on how to tackle this.

    Ben & PZ,
Thanks in large part to your help and suggestions, I have solved the major issues I had.
First, I don't want to give the spreadsheet out to people, so downloading is out of the question. There is just too much error checking code, formulas, logic and formatting and numerous macros in the spreadsheet, that I consider that as proprietary and even though there are ways to protect the contenct of a workbook, it is just too easy to circumvent.
People will have to do will the large table of results, but the essential information is shown in such a way that horizontal scolling is hardly necessary. Vertical scolling will become necessary when there are more entries, like the around 150 entries in the PPBM4 benchmark for CS4, but that can't be helped.
I tried your suggestions, one step at a time, and had a couple of problems, in the sense that several footnotes, that were automatically added to several columns based on the content of other columns, were lost. For instance, when someone says he has a SATA disk, but it runs at 10,000 RPM and the size is either 150, 300 or 600 G, it is a Velociraptor and the interface is changed to SATA1 with the 1 as a supercript. In combinations with the difficulty I envisioned with the complete reformatting of the table in HTML, I searched for alternative approaches, and I found it.
With the help of Lightbox, I now have the two charts I want to show available, it looks pretty good, although I had to adjust the position of the charts in the lightbox.js file.
You can see the result here: http://ppbm5.com/Benchmark5.html
Now the only thing to figure out is the logo, but that is secondary.
Thank you both for your help and suggestions. As a consequence, I have learned a lot and made another step forward.
