Webdynpro ABAP application to open a document saved in KM

Hi All,
Need your help.
I have the following scenario to work on it:
My client wants to upload the form16 of all employee to EP and and wants to give a link in ess for that file to it's employees. The form16 will in PDF format and the total number of files will be 30,000 as my client have 30,000 employeess and there will be one form16 file for each employee. My client wants to upload all forms16 (30,000 files) to EP every year by replacing the old one for previous year.
I understand that mass upload of files is required as one by one file upload is not possible for 30,000 files. I also understand that after uploading the files to KM, I will need a Web Dynpro ABAP application to download a perticular file from KM to local pc and open it for the logged in employee. And for that the file name should be the employee number so we can get a perticular file for perticular employee.
now, I have the following questions:
1) What solution should I provide to my client for mass upload of 30,000 files to KM so that they can upload those files every year and remove the old files.
2) In Web Dynpro ABAP how can I down load the single file related to loggin user from KM to local (user's) pc and open it in adobe acrobat reader.
I request you to suggest me in this matter.
Thanks in advance.
Vikrant

Hi Thomas,
thank you.
1) What solution should I provide to my client for mass upload of 30,000 files to KM so that they can upload those files every year and remove the old files.
I will put my above question to portal forum.
2) In Web Dynpro ABAP how can I down load the single file related to loggin user from KM to local (user's) pc and open it in adobe acrobat reader.
For my 2nd question, thank for the solution. I have tried with LinkToURL elemtnt and it worked. But I have one more question about the same. I have uploaded one pdf file to km and tried to open this file using LinkToURL element in Web Dynpro ABAP. In the 'reference' property of LinkToURL element I have given path to the document. This path I got from portal when I opened the settings->property of uploaded file, which was something like this:
http://<%hostname%>/irj/go/km/docs/documents/RComm/PDF%20Files/FAQs%20CTC.pdf
In this I have replaced the
<%hostname%>
with actual host name:port number.
So in this case I have hardcoded the hostname:port number.
Is there any way or function module using which I can get the host name and the port number of the portal so in future, if
it changes, I will not need to change the code.
Thanks again.

  • How to exit from a WebDynpro ABAP application and open another url

    Hi Friends,
    How to exit from a WebDynpro ABAP application and open another url like (www.yahoo.com) in the same window of the WD4 application on click of a Button?
    Regards,
    Xavier

    Hi,
    First of all you should create outbound plug in the window you are trying to exit with plufg type "Exit"
    Then create method handler in the view with this code
            data lo_view_cntr type ref to if_wd_view_controller.
            data lo_win_cntr type ref to if_wd_window_controller.
            data: l_parameter_list type wdr_event_parameter_list,
                  l_parameter type wdr_event_parameter,
                  l_val type ref to data,
                  l_val_url type REF TO data.
            field-symbols: <fs> type any,
                           <fs_url> type any.
            lo_view_cntr  = wd_this->wd_get_api( ).
            lo_win_cntr = lo_view_cntr->get_embedding_window_ctlr( ).
            CREATE DATA l_val type c.
            CREATE DATA l_val_url type string.
            ASSIGN l_val->* to <fs>.
            ASSIGN l_val_url->* to <fs_url>.
            <fs> = 'X'.
            <fs_url> = 'http://your-link.com'.
            l_parameter-name = 'URL'.
            l_parameter-value = l_val_url.
            INSERT l_parameter INTO TABLE l_parameter_list.
            lo_win_cntr->if_wd_view_controller~fire_plug( EXPORTING plug_name = 'EXIT_PLUG'
                                                                    parameters = l_parameter_list ).
          You can easily change this logic to exit application instead of redirecting to the site
           just changing to
           l_parameter-name = 'CLOSE_WINDOW'.

    Hi Shibli,
    I'm facing the same issue with the POWL only if called from a part of the network outside our country (Italy) so I think it would be a network configuration problem as you suppose. Can you explain us the configuration of the balancer and dispatcher to solve the issue?

  • WebDynpro ABAP application opening blank in portal

    Dear All,
    There is a strange issue which is being faced by one user. when the user tries to access a Webdynpro ABAP application in Portal then it opens in new window but nothing is displayed in the tray. Now when the user right clicks on the opened window->properties and copies the url from properties and pastes it in new tab (IE 8 is used) then the application opens and works fine.
    The portal and backend roles are fine for the user as he can access/work when the application is opened using the copied url.
    Please suggest what could be the problem for the user. For other users the issue mentioned is not there.

  • Open Webdynpro ABAP application from UWL

    Hello Experts,
    The requirement is we need to open the Custom Webdynpro ABAP application when the user clicks on the UWL tasks instead of ITS based screen.
    We have created a custom workflow task. Then we maintained the task entry with Webdynpro ABAP application name in SWFVISU transaction.
    After re-registering the UWL connector in Portal I could not find the Task ID in UWL definition. In UWL the task item is visible but could not open the task because the UWL could not identify the task no for this.
    Am I missing something in the above steps?
    Kindly help.

  • Issue on Creating RFx in webdynpro ABAP application - SRM Business Package

    Hi
    We are in to SRM 7.0 with the same version of Business Package in SAP Portal also.
    I am trying to create a RFx from Portal which in turn calls the webdynpro ABAP application (Strategic Purchasing->Strategic Sourcing->Create Documents->RFx)
    sap/bc/webdynpro/sapsrm/wda_l_fpm_oif.
    This Application has some button called "Tech RFx", "Permissions" etc., When I click on those buttons it throws the error as below :
    "There is no iView available for system "SAP_SRM": object "TechResp". For more information, contact your administrator."
    Please let me know where we are missing. I have checked all the Portal permissions. Even I can able to access all other iviews except this two buttons.
    Any settings or parameters required on webdynpro ABAP side.
    Regards,
    Raja.J

    Dear Raja,
    this behavior occurs if the IView com.sap.pct.srm.gp.iv_tech_resp
    is not assigned to the role which is assigned to the user.
    Please assign this IView to the desired user.
    Here are the steps to follow in your systems:
    STEP 1: Login to the Portal with Content Admin Authorization.
    STEP 2: Navigate to Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP ->
    specialist -> SRM7.0 -> Core -> Roles -> Open the desired role and
    choose Navigation Folder.
    STEP 3: Now navigate to Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP ->
    specialist -> SRM7.0 -> PPS -> iViews -> Tendering -> Select Tech
    Responses (Technical name is iView com.sap.pct.srm.gp.iv_tech_resp) and
    right click and choose 'Add iView to Role' -> Delta Link and save.
    STEP 4: Log off and login with the user and check the issue.
    Best regards,

  • Attach Interactive Forum to Workflow from a Webdynpro ABAP application

    I have a webdynpro ABAP application which has an Interactive form. After the user enters the form and clicks on 'Submit', I trigger a workflow for Approval. My requirement is to add this same form as an attachment to the workflow. I know I can do this by adding the Fileupload UI element and letting the user browse to the file after saving it. But I want to attach it directly without the user having to save the form to Desktop first.
    I tried passing the pdf_source(XSTRING) to the container and it does attaches a pdf to the workflow but when I open it, the form is blank and user entered values are missing.
    Please respond only if you know the solution and don't send me links to other forums on SDN, I have read them all.

    sharing the solution always helps some or the other person seeking similar answers to their problems. It would be good to share your solution in this open community. It helps.

  • WebDynpro ABAP iView not opening in new window

    Hi,
       I have created an iView for a WebDynpro ABAP application and I am having a link in a home page from where the iView should open in a new page. I have set the properties "Launch in new Window" and "Show open in new window option" of the iView but still it doesn't open up in a new window.
        Can someone suggest me what's going wrong?
        Will reward points for helpful answer.
    Regards
    Mukesh

    Hi Volker,
       Thanks for your reply.
       I think, I have set the properties of the iView right. I have tried with all the options for the property "Launch in new window" property of the iView but it didn't work.
       "By home page framework" I mean that the link of the iView in portal has been created using the "Home page framework" i.e. from "SPRO" transaction in the backend.
       Please let me know if you need any other input from me.
    Regards
    Mukesh

  • Modification in standard webdynpro abap application

    Hi
    In my portal for some of my ESS applications are used in webdynpro abap for example travel expense and travel request now i have a requirement like i have to make the create travel expense button disable based on the condition llike i only he has to click create travel expense after creating travel request .So can anybody let us know how to do modofications in the standard webdynpro abap application.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    For making changes in the standard web dynpro compoenent, you need to create and implement enhancement.
    For this you can find many links in SDN  on how to create enhancement.
    Now coming to your specific requirement.
    Here what you can do is open the standard component.
    1. press ctrl +F4, It will open a popup there give some name to your enhancement.and desicrption . then press Enter.
         Assign it to teh package you want.
    2. Go to the view where you want to disable the button, There go to the layout and find the ID of the button. say it is 'BTN'.
    3. Now go to methods tab, scroll right and selct post exit method of wddomodifyview emthod.
    4. there write the code with the condition you want.
    if  flag  eq 'yes'.
    data  lv_btn type ref to cl_wd_button.
    lv_btn ?= view->get_element( 'BTN' ).
    lv_btn->set_enabled( abap_false ).
    endif.
    5. one last thing is you can create a attribute named flag of type string and set its value to 'yes' when you want the button to enable.
    Thanks

  • Unable to access Webdynpro abap application externally

    Hello,
    We have created a WebDynpro ABAP application,it is a simple application talking to the ECC.
    We are able to run this application on our portal within the network,but when we try to access the application from an external network it says Internet Explorer page cannot be displayed.
    We are not using any Web Dispatcher.
    Thanks
    Mayi

    You need to talk to your network administrators.  Probably your ECC system is within your corportate network and behind a firewall that doesn't allow requests in for these servers/ports.  You need to work with your basis team and network team to open the appropriate ports and IP addresses in the firewall. However you should also still provide protection for your ECC system with some forms of reverse proxies as already suggested.  This is a security process you should perform with your local admins.  This isn't really a Web Dynpro ABAP related process or inquiry.

  • FPM Navigation - asking for Log on when calling WebDynpro ABAP Application

    Hi Experts,
    I want to call a Non FPM based WebDynpro ABAP Application from a FPM Component.
    I have followed the method showed in the following thread by Rajkumar to call WebDynpro Application using URL.
    [Launch transaction without launchpad|Re: Launch transaction without launchpad]
    I could successfully call my WebDynpro ABAP application using this approach,
    However when the application opens in new Browser , it asks for log on again.
    Can anyone help me to avoid this log in screen.
    P.S. --> Both the applications are in the same server.
    Regards,
    Ashish Shah

    Hi Ashish ,
    I am also facing the same problem , did you find any solution ?

  • Calling Portal iView from a WebdynPro ABAP application

    Hi ,
    I have a requirement where I need to call an iView in my portal from the Webdynpro application also existing in the portal.
    Can anyone provide me the method with source code( if possible ) to call an iView existing in the portal from the WebDynPro ABAP application.
    Best Regards
    Sid

    Hi Siddharth,
    Well, I think you can go for Portal Navigation concept.
    Please check the required source code in WDR_TEST_PORTAL_NAV Web Dynpro component. That will illustrate both Page based Navigation and Object based Navigation.
    Hope that should solve your problem.
