WebDynpro ABAP "on change event"

Dear Experts,
we are using a WebDynpro application (ABAP-Stack) and there are two
inputfields included. My question is:
First we did some input into the first field and than we navigate to the second one.
Is it possible to delete the input of the first field when we do some input into the second one?
Maybe we need something like an "on change event" but in WebDynpro there is no
methodtype like that and no way to edit the generated HTML- or JavaScript-Code.
Best regards,
Henrik Pollmann

  • WebDynpro ABAP - inter session events possible?

    Hi Experts,
I have a ABAP-WebDynpro application with various tabstrips to show and maintain process data within a production process. Each tabstrip contains several data of a specific process step. At the beginning, very few data are already present. While production progresses, chemical analysis is being taken and machine data is gathered. Assoon as new data for the process step is available, a refresh should be performed.
Though not perfect in every aspect, we made this scenario work in a similar way in ABAP Dynpro by using inter session eventing (ISE). Is there a possibility to trigger events in WebDynpro cross-session - for example after adding data to the database?
    Best regards
    Jens

There is no real cross session eventing available in Web Dynpro.  The problem is two fold. First, UI updates can't be initiated by the server in HTTP (unlike the SAPGUI which does have a push mechanism to the client).  This is a current limitaiton of HTTP itself and not something Web Dynpro related.  So to trigger the phase model of Web Dynpro, something must occur on the client to trigger the server event.  In NetWeaver 7.0 and 7.01 you have to use the timedTrigger UI element to acomplish this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/da/a6884121a41c09e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
You then generally used a shared memory object (or even temporary database entries) to communicate data or events between to different processes.  For instance a background job is running and places it status in a shared memory object attribute.  The Web Dynpro can then fire a TimedTrigger every minute to check the value of this shared memory object attribute.
In NetWeaver 7.02 we improve this process with a new capability called the Web Dynpro Notification Service.  Instead of the timedTrigger, we can simulate a push of data/events to the client using AJAX.  We open an secondary server request to the ICM to check the status of an event. That way we don't have to disrupt the client side activity or incurre the full Web Dynpro Phase Model until we know a change in the status of our event has occured.  Also since the status info is stored in the ICM Cache, you don't even have to fall into an ABAP Workprocess to check the status.

  • ECC6.0 WebDynpro(ABAP) - raising terminating event

Hi, in ECC6.0 I have a custom WDA application with a custom workflow.  The workflow is launched via an event that is raised in the WDA application.  However, at one point workflow sends a link to one of the WDA pages, whereby the user clicks a button which raises what should be a terminating event for the workflow task.  However, while this event is raised, as confirmed in SWEL, it doesn't terminate the task.  The event is raised through a WDA assistance class.  The object type, event and object key are all being set properly during the raising of the event.  Viewing the event in SWEL confirms the proper setting of the key fields.  So why isn't the step terminating?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    Hi,
If the object that is waiting for event has no instance, the task will not be terminated when the event is created in the system (As I said). So now the reason is clear for you.
    >The event is raised through a WDA assistance class
I am not sure what you mean by this. You raise the event from the WDA assistance class? Or you raise an event for the assistance class? (Or perhaps both?).
If you raise the event for the assistance class, you should have an instance of that class in the workflow container (which you would then bind from workflow container to the task container). So, now the question is: do you have an instance of the assistance class in the WF container (when you look it from log)? Or is it initial also?
Actually I don't really even understand how you have managed to combine the WDA assistance class and WF class? How do you actually start the workflow (with which kind of event)? Whatever event it is, it should most likely instantiate some class/object in the workflow. Then in your problematic task you should most likely use this same class in the terminating event (unless there is something really fancy in your workflow).

  • OnSelect event for a Drop down UI Element in Webdynpro ABAP Select Options

    Hi Experts
We have built our UI based on the webdynpro ABAP Select Options. We have a requirement that, when we change the value of a drop down box in the UI, I need to hide some fields. Can anybody help me out in handling of OnSelect event of a drop down box built using webdynpro ABAP Select Options. We are on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP1.

    Hi Srikanth,
as you seem to be already aware, the component is dynamically built.
so you would have to enhance the code that builds the element and insert a reference to a new action (enhancement) that could handle the onSelect event.
What is it about this that you particularly want help with?
    Cheers,

  • ABAP WebDynpro: Handling the ON_ENTER Event in editable ALVs

Sub: ABAP WebDynpro : Handling the ON_ENTER Event in editable ALVs
    Hi,
I would like to know if there exists an event to handle TABout (i.e, when user navigates out of the cell with a TAB key-press) for a cell of an editable ALV.
Alternatively, any help on how to handle ON_ENTER event and how it is triggered when data is entered by user into a cell of an editable ALV, would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adithya

    Hi
I had one similar problem where user enter something into the editable cell and press enter. to handle this scenario i used WDDOBEFOREACTION  method of my view to call alv interface method check_data.
if there is any change in the any table cell, it will fire an event on_data_check..which has paramater column name, row index and new and old value of the cell.
you can handle this event and write your business logic in event handler method.
    hope it will help

  • My Trips and Expenses - Webdynpro ABAP - Change Copy Delete button links

    Hello All,
We are using ESS and MSS applications in our scenario. We are using EHP4 version of ECC6.0.
I have configured my homepage framework with custom entries in SAP (resources, services, ... ) and custom Portal content (iviews, pages, ...  copied from SAP delivered stuff ). I have a very good understanding of this and I have no issues with the portal navigation and tying my custom homepage framework entries to the custom PCD locations.
The only problem I have is with the Webdynpro ABAP application for "My Trips and Expenses". I can get to this application without any problem.
Within the My Tirps and Expenses application, there are buttons for Displaying, Changing, Copying and Deleting existing Travel Trip Requests and Expense Reports. When I click on any of these buttons, the corresponding page/iview from the standard SAP ESS role is being launched. I would like to point these buttons to my custom page/iview from my custom role.
I did not find any place where I can make this setting. I am not sure how the Service IDs for the standard SAP services are being linked to the application.
I hope some one might have looked into this and any input would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    I figured this out.
This application makes use of Object Based Navigation and if you adjust the roles assigned to the user accordingly, this will automatically pick up the custom pages form the custom role.
    Thanks,
    Raj

  • Portal Eventing in Webdynpro ABAP

    Hello,
I am trying to implement Eventing in Webdynpro ABAP using 2 components ,Com1 serving as the source component and Com2 serving as Target. In Com1 I created a Inputfield and a button ,and then tied an action to the button and called the FIRE method of the IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION and sent the value in the Inputfield as the eventing parameter.
In Com2, i subscribed to the event in the wddoinit() method and then defined an action for the same and got the parameter value sent in the Com1 and set the value in the context attribute in the Com2 which is bound to the inputfield.
But still the value sent in Com1 is not displayed in the Com2 Inputfield.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hi I assume the following, please correct me if my understanding is not correct.
1.First of all you try this in Portal.
2.The moment you fire the event, the comp-2 view is active and subscribed to the portal event.
If the above are true then tell me if the portal eventing enter into the action ?Have you checked in bebug that your action is triggerred on portal_event ?
If portal event is action handler is called then if you have a importing parameter portal_event_parameter then your input value should be there.

  • Change in Webdynpro ABAP(FITE_EXPENSES) iView standard code in Portal.

    Hi,
We are on EP 7.0 with ESS 1.2 and MSS 1.0. In Backend R/3, we have applied EHP2 for Webdynpro ABAP screens. In travel & expenses -> Create Expense report we have a requirement where we need to put our logic for calculation of receipt amount based on no of travel days.
for E.G. For a particular Expense type the amount per day is 100. While creating expense (Enter Receipts portion) user selects this expense type and based on no of days the receipt amount should get changed. For 4 days the amount would be 100 * 4 = 400. We need to code this logic in the standard Webdynpro Abap iView for Create Expense Report(FITE_EXPENSES).
Can I get some pointers for this change.
    Regards,
    --VP.

    Dear Hayerk,
Your requirement can be fulfilled easily. Have you tried hiding a button or a field or label in simple iView same is the case in your FITE_EXPENSES hiding scanned receipts button. What you can do is attach a super user to a HR user having a pending expense report to be created. Through content administrator you can preview mytrips and expenses iview in that go and click on create in tab ALL MY TRAVLE REQUESTS for expense report then on scanned receipts button right click -> user settings -> hide button.

  • How to handle events in webdynpro abap

    Hi,
can any body explain how to handle the events in webdynpro abap.
i want to know some concepts in general.
    Thanks,

    Hi Mahesh,
you can create event handlers under the actions tab in you view. evry event handler has an importing parameter wdevent of type ref to cl_wd_custom_event.
you can also create events in your component controller and they can be handled within your views
check cl_wd_custom_event class for details about what all information you get when an event occurs.
for further details you can check out the following links

  • Javascript server events in webdynpro ABAP

I am migrating an existing BSP application to webdynpro abap. Few of sections, in existing BSP application, uses java script coding to trigger few server events. For example it uses a flash charts on click of which some filtering logic is written on table. Similar logic needs to be placed for webdynpro. I used Iframe to display this charts. Charts are rendered properly but I am not able to raise the actions or trigger events on server as I don’t have access to parent.document object of my parent view.
I get access denied/ permission denied error.
Can’t we trigger server action or event using JavaScript from child IFrame.
    With Regards,
    Nitesh Shelar.

    Hi Nitesh,
Integrating custom java script is not supported. There are still a few benefits BSP has over WDA. Well, you could put the flash object inside of a BSP application and use portal eventing to communicate with WDA.

  • Need expertice opinion on WebDynpro ABAP vs FPM for heavy custom apps

    Hi Experts,
I have a lot of custom UI development,.for external users in SAP. Most of these applications can be simply developed using WebDynpro ABAP framework. If I do the same development using FPM framework I may need to do lot of reaseach espcially controling the UI behaviours like hiding, changing table cell  colors based on the data, manipulating the UI behavior in the runtime, lot more like this.
The question I have is , which one is the right tool for my development FPM vs WebDynpro ABAP, what is the value in building the same apps in FPM rather then WebDynpro ABAP? If I develop these apps in WebDynpro ABAP does my client loose any new capabilities in he future releases? are any other drawbacks?
The challenge i see the FPM Feeder classses doesnt have lot of interfaces other then few like ( IF_FPM_GUIBB_FORM, IF_FPM_GUIBB_FORM_REPEATER,IF_FPM_GUIBB_LIST,IF_FPM_GUIBB_SEARCH,IF_FPM_GUIBB_TREE,IF_FPM_GUIBB_LAUNCHPAD )
to extend more custom UI functionalities, and the other thing I may need to invest lot of time in reseacrhing and analysing the framework events etc....Please can you shed some light on it and put me in right direction.
    Appreciate your time and help.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hello Krishna,
the whole story revolves around reusability and abstraction, extensibility atleast in this context.
FPM offers more abstraction than Webdynpro. i am sure we all appreciate the standard webdynpro components for ALV, Value help, as this is something we could reuse and if we build our components that it manipulates itself with the help of configuration, customization and personalization.
So all the Standard SAP Dev could be enhanced (not modified) by simple, configuration, FPM is built around this concept.
So if you want to do custom development, which could be extended for your different customers with minimal efforts, you could go for FPM.
    So here are some takeaways
    1) FPM offers more abstraction than Webdynpro
    2) FPM offers more reusability
    3) Say manipulating the UI behaviour and say some customers wants view1 first and other doesnt want view 1 and wants only view 2. so in FPM you could simply do it with different configuration. and with Webdynpro, you need to manage this dynamically based on certain application parameter or you may end up copying certain comp,,or you use different usage,,,,and you could calibrate this.
Regarding limitation with FPM interfaces, could you explictly share what custom development you intend to do and in worst cases, you could always use freestyle UIBB,, which is webdynpro abap
in that scenario, atleast wiring, application config(app parameter, combination of webdynpro, with thier respective config),,could be reused.
