Webdynpro in ECC 6.0

HI Experts,
I am going to install SAP ECC 6.0 in my laptop.
Please let me using this would i be able to practice for Webdynpro ABAP or any other configurations settings or any software is required for the same?

Hi,
You do not require any thing to configure to design your webdynpro applications in ABAP.Just go to SE80 and in the dropdown you can see web dynpro.
Contact BASIS people if you face problem in view display or any othere configuration problem while developing ABAP web dynpro applications, as sometimes few services are not active.

No, not required.
You will need to maintain JCo destinations when you deal with your backend R/3 system from WD but as of now you don't need to configure anything.
Just install and start creating your project in WD Java.

CAF with ABAP Webdynpro and ECC 6.0 ?

Hello,
I'm a newbie with CAF. I understand that we can create business logic (BO) and use kind of UI (VC, Webdynpro).
My question : is it possible to use CAF to generate ABAP Webdynpro and can we use CAF with ECC 6.0 / netweaver 7.0 ?

Calling WebDynpros in ECC 6 not from the local portal

Hey,
we are having a portal in place pointing to another system with ERP2004 end self developed WebDynpro applications in HCM. Now we want to switch to ECC 6 and so we need to have a local portal in this system - correct?
Would we be able to use the "old" main portal to call this local HCM WebDynpros as we did before? Is this supported by SAP? or do we have to use the local portal as a producer portal and connect the the main portal as an FPN?
What are the arguments to use FPN functionallity instead of calling WebDynpros directly?

Hi Michael,
FPN offers 2 benefits
1. You will not have to recreate the content once again on the producer / new portal (you may argue that a
transport would work)
2. All the role created before are available to use.
So incase u see benefits then FPN is your friend.
In the given scenario, I would simply create the WD views on the new portal.

Dealing with Popup messages in webdynpro in ECC 6.0

THe backend R/3 has lots of custom popup box ( in user exits ) requesting the user to make a decision. This popup alerts ends up in dumping java error while executing transactions in Portal webdynpro transactions ( create expense report )
Any idea how this should be handled ?

In order to determine the cause you could catch the error and log the error message.
e.g.
try {
   erroneous popup statement
} catch (Exception e) {
//   log e.getMessage() here
//   or let MessageManager print e.getmessage()

I am unable to create a simple webdynpro application which is described in SAPTechnical website. since in this website it is given in ECC 6.0. I tried in ECC 5.0. But i cant able to create it.

ECC 5.0 is NW04 - not NW04s so you don't have WDA at all as you should be able to see from e.g. it not appearing in the list of possible programming objects in transaction SE80.
You'd need ECC 6.0.
Double-check your SAP_BASIS release in menu System > Status > Component Information. If it says 6.40 then that's no good... you need to be on 7.00.
You can still use Java WebDynpro with ECC 5.0 of course.

Adobe interactive form in ECC

Hi,
We have a requirement that we need an adobe form on the ECC system as interactive.
1. User put a Transaction code.
2. Adobe interactive form open.
3. User fill all the data on the form.
4. Click on submit button.
5. Sucesssful message there.
Currently , the process is as follows:
1. User put a Transaction code.

3. Usre Save the form on the desktop.

The current process is offline, we want the same online in ECC not by ABAP Webdynpro.

Navigate to SRM PO or Contract from ECC R/3

Hi all - I want to navigate from webdynpro in ECC R/3 to PO/Contract Object in SRM, I'm doing the same process in SRM and is working fine but in order to get the OBN_SYSTEM in ECC is where i'm having issues.
In SRM I declare a variable
DATA: v_obn_system TYPE /sapsrm/obn_system
*and to find sytem alias I do
CALL METHOD /sapsrm/cl_url_service=>get_srm_system_alias
Receiving
rv_system_alias = v_obn_system
but in ECC we dont have the type available either the CALL METHOD /sapsrm/cl_url_service=>get_srm_system_alias
is there something similar in ECC R/3 to do this requirement?

Can anyone tell me whether WebDynpro can be used in External Facing Portal implementation?
Most of docs/links says it works but doesnt function properly with light framework , so how will we use EFP with webdynpro's .

According to the following thread, you can't use ABAP Web Dynpro, only Java Web Dynpro can be used with ECC 5.0:

Who's Who Application

I was finally able to enable the telephone number in the Who's who "Change Your Own Data" after some configuration but here is the problem.
The problem is that it only saves the telephone number the second time you run change your own data on the telephone number.
It looks like the telephone number is being changed and gives you a preview of the changes but after you complete the transaction it does not really save it. The second time you do it, it will make the changes.
I have numerous test users and tested this scenario. This is for info type 105, sub type 020 which starts out empty.
I searched the SAP service market place and so far no SAP note associated with this problem.
This are my assumptions:
Since there is no communication data for IT 105, ST 0020 on the PA record, it is technically an ADD and NOT a CHANGE - "Change your Own Data". I am assuming this is the item that is tripping the Change Your Own Data services.
I appreciate input or suggestions.

We are running the Webdynpro version [ECC 6.0] and the portal directory version is ESS 1.50.
Here was my test:
This is for a brand new user ID and new IT 105, ST 0001.
I went to the users PA record and created IT105, ST0020 and added a phone number.
This is the first time the test users is login to ESS. I logged on as the test user and I was able to successfully changed my telephone number on the FIRST try.
I'll do some more research on the backend and more testing.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Import ess web dynpro to netweaver studio

I want to import an web dynpro application, esstratre, to my netweaver studio. The source can be found in my WAS j2ee server, there are a zip file. But the zip file is not a valid netweaver studio project and can't import to netweaver studio directly, how can i import the source to my IDE?

Anyone know off hand which classes are called by the Benefits Enrollment webdynpro for ECC 6? I am looking specifically for how it decides which plans are available for which adjustment reasons. Thanks in advance.
