WebForms - Questions

will Oracle release a Java-Plugin for all platforms (and not only jinitiator for ms-windows)?
will oracle modify the webforms-applet so that it is possible to start it with
a newer e.g. sun java-plugin version?
it's funny to tell people, which are using netscape on linux or mac platforms
that the web-forms java-applet doesn't work
in secure mode on there systems and that there is no support for webforms on linux/mac-systems.
is there future support for netscape 6.x
version? Jinitiator also doesn't work!

Hello,
Could you please tell me is it possible to run my existing forms on the WEB? How? What must i do exactly?
I am using Oracle IDS ( Forms 6i). I have a program called : run a form on the Web, but i've never used it before.
Thanks a lot

Peter - let me see if I can answer these questions for you.
We are looking to certify and upgrade against a later Java Plug (which you will be able to use of various platforms).
If you look at the client platform Statement of Direction you will see that MAC IS certified. So the Java Applet DOES WORK!
Its already documented in the paper "Client Platform Support for Apple MRJ, Release 1.6.1 and 6"
Jinitiator on other platforms - again document in the Jinitiator FAQ (which we are about to update but the answer to this question is the same).
Is there future support for Netscape 6.x - this will be announced in the new FAQ which will be out very soon.
Hope this helps

  • Webform formula question

    Hi,
Doing a row formula.  I want it to Sum row 1 to row 24. There has to be a better way than below?   This works, but for life of me I can't seem to find how to do it better with a range or something.
    Sum(row[1],row[2],row[3],row[4],row[5],row[6],row[7],row[8],row[9],row[10],row[11],row[12],row[13],row[14],row[15],row[16],row[17],row[18],row[19],row[20],row[21],row[22],row[23],row[24])

  • How can I pre-populate a web app input form with data from a webform in the CRM?

    Scenario:
A customer fills a registration webform. The customers data is stored in BC CRM as usual. This step provides a lead to marketing unit and the team makes a follow up. Upon completion of internal processes. The workflow initiated by this customer filling the registration form is approved.
Th user is sent a 3rd-party notification with a url to enable the user complete the registration process by entering the information into a web app.
    The Issue:
The client is requesting that he doesn't want the the customer to re-enter some of the  information that  has been captured in the registration form again since it will be laborious for the user to do this. He wants the system to store this customer data already in the CRM and pre-fill the web app form so that the user just submit the data, so that the item can be in the appropriate web app as web app item.
Question: Is this possible? Can this be achieved via js. How should I go about it.
    Your assistance will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

For each option you would need to only have a custom text field for that item. This is where the otpion for each gets populated with javasript.
Each option is your own html that is a select with options as web app items. A list layout of your web app items is just a select with text and value of that item.
Your tricky thing is to setup the matrix of rules to define what shows and when. You can do that with data source association between web apps if it is a 1-1 relationship but if it is 1 to many you need to form script matrix to define what happens on each change.
It depends on the details but thats the core of it.

  • Can't get Run Time Prompts to pop up in Planning 11.1.2.1 on WebForm

    Hi,
Client is using Business Rules and not Calc Manager. I have a Webform that has a Business Rule attached with only Run on Save selected. In the BR there are various RTP's user needs to choose. When I navigate to the WebForm in the bottom left hand corner I don't see any available BR's. That is first clue it won't work? When I hit save, nothing pops up to select and only the message 'The data has been saved successfully' appears. Nothing about the rule has run successfully etc. I have provisioned the group I'm in with 'Validate or Launch' Access to the BR in question.
Within EAS when I goto launch or validate the rule, the Run Time Prompt box pops up and allows me to make my selections but not when I hit Save on the form.
Any ideas? Could it be a provisioning issue? My username is an admin.
Stumped as I haven't done this in a while without Calc Mgr thus am I missing something obvious?

OK. Possibly onto something here. On the left hand side of the Business Rule tab there are all the calc scripts. Then only Bus Rule that appears there is a new one I created that was an exact copy of the Business Rule in question, just with a '- New' appended to the end of the name. Funny thing is both Business rules that are attached to the form do appear on the right hand side. Thus how could that be? How does one get the Bus Rules to appear on the left hand side? Haven't been in EAS Business Rules mode for a long time.

  • SSRS Silverlight HTML5 question

Can anyone tell me when SSRS is in native mode (not SharePoint) does it use Silverlight? In particular, do the particular components use it. e.g. Report Builder, Report Viewer, SSRS web site?
Also, are there any differences between SSRS versions: SQL2008, SQL2008R2, SQL2012 and SQL2014
Also, if Silverlight is used what version it is and does it change with SQL versions?
The flip question is the same as above but applying to HTML5?
The context of this question is our client has a web app that uses report viewer and the app uses Silverlight. I know PowerView uses silverlight but as the client app is native SSRS that doesn't apply. The client has chosen a product roadmap that is to migrate
from Silverlight to HTML5 in the future. I'm not sure what the impact of this is with SSRS.
    Thanks very much, Brian
    Brian Searle

...SSRS hasn't received much love from MSFT since 2008R2,
    That's really true.
HTML5 is just Html as right now + several enhancements, so you can use the ReportViewer WebForms in Html5.
Issue is more the use backend web compont, while ReportViewer works fine in classic ASP + ASP.NET projects, you will have issues in using in ASP.NET - MVC Projects, because RV call backs are directed to the MVC Service instead to SSRS.

    Hi,
The error is occurred when you have a SSRS report with SharePoint Integration Mode.
I recommend to add the below entry to the web.config for the "SharePoint" web app that your report is running under.
    <add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="100000" />
You can also increased the timeout value to 10 on rsreportserver.config .
In addition, you can change the TCP Port.

  • Report Builder 3.0 Licensing Questions

I have several questions/clarifications on the licensing and use of Report Builder. Any help you could provide, or other resources I should contact would be much appreciated.
I've looked through the license that is included when installing "SQL Server Report Builder 3 for SQL Server 2014", but need to make sure what we want to do is kosher.
    Scenario:
A third party software vendor wants to allow users to create and edit .RDL files within Report Builder. The RDL files will then be saved locally to the users desktop, then uploaded into the third party software product(.NET based, and hosted within the organization's
environment). The data for the report will be generated based on the settings of the RDL file, then the data and RDL file will be passed to the "Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll", and a PDF/Excel document will be generated. The user will have
the control to deliver this file anywhere (network share/email/FTP).
The users using the Report Builder, may be employees of either small/medium size businesses, or as large as Fortune 500 businesses. The Organization employing the users, may or may not have a license of SQL Server.
    Questions:
    1) Does the Organization that owns the third party software, need to own a license of SQL Server? From the License, it appears yes: "If you are licensed to use any one of the following editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 software .... you may use this
    supplement"
    2) Following from #1, if the Organization does not have a license, if they were to purchase a SQL Server license, how many users would a license cover?
What if they purchase a Standard license?
What if they purchase a "Deverloper" License?
I assume the Developer License is for one person, so would only one user be able to use the Report Builder, based on this clause: "You may use this supplement with each validly licensed copy of the software."
    2) In the license, it says "You may not: use the supplement for commercial software hosting services.". What does that mean? You can't use it commercially? Or with 'hosting services'? What are 'hosting services'?
    3) Can the third party vendor distribute the .MSI file with their software product? Or do the end users need to download it separately, directly from Microsoft?
    4) Any restrictions on where the resulting output (PDF/Excel) may be delivered?
    5) Are there any restrictions at all on using the "Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll", with an RDL file? Restrictions on how much is processed, where the content goes, etc.?
I think that's about it... Thanks

    Please try to use:

  • Creating a PDF from a webform?

    Hi
I've worked with Acrobat and Livecyle for a while doing stand alone forms, but my latest project would work best if I created a HTML/XML webform that the clients just typed in a variety of data into fields and then hit submit and from this information this created a PDF that was filled in properly and the correct text is in the correct sections and they could then print this pdf out but the pdf would be saved on a server after they hit submit.
What kind of software solution would I need for this and (stupid question I know) how easy would it be?
    Thanks

Collecting the info on an HTML page is fine ...you cpuld submit as name value pairs, then turn the input into an XML data file. That data file can then be used to merge onto the PDF file or import as the case may be. Once it is in a PDF then printing and submission of the PDF is a breeze. The negative is that you will have to maintain two templates (one for the PDF and one for the HTML).
If you have a server involved you could use LiveCycle Forms as it will allow you to have a single template definition that can be displayed in HTML or PDF. That is an expensive solution for a single template but if you have many templates then it might be worthwhile.

  • Problem posting HTML content in WebForms

I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong location; I cannot find a form for Webforms or ASP.NET in the listings.  (I also apologize if this is a duplicate question; I had trouble submitting it the first time.)
I'm updating an existing WebForms application for a relative who will undoubtedly find lots of little details for me to fix over the next few weeks.  In order to reduce the number of service calls, I'm implementing a "site config" feature that
will enable him to modify some of the site elements himself, such as toggling the display of certain labels or repositioning the hit count.  The configuration isn't being stored in a database, but rather in an XML document in the site root.  Each
time the form is used to update the XML, a backup is saved, and the site can revert to a previous version if the current config becomes hosed.  In short, I'm not particularly concerned about malicious code going into the XML, although I do have some validation
in place to make sure he doesn't screw things up.
I'd like the config to be able to hold some HTML, so that he can apply custom formatting to the elements he configures, and I have of course applied Server.HtmlEncode to those fields.  But I can't get the form to post HTML content.  The article here
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/a2a4yykt(v=vs.100).aspx) advises me to turn off the request validation using the @ Page attribute ValidateRequest="false."  However, this has no effect.  Upon form submission, the code behind is
completely ignored, and the exception  "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client" is logged.
Is there a way to override this behavior?  I'm using Framework version 4.0 (with Visual Studio 2010).

If I remember correctly, you *should* be able to use whatever value you want for "key" in the RegisterOnSubmitStatement.  Have you tried something like this just for a test?
    this.ClientScript.RegisterOnSubmitStatement(
    this.GetType(),
    "I_Can_Put_Whatever_I_Want_Here",
    "alert('Microsoft is Awesome!');"
But I *think* you are having a different issue.  It *sounds* like to me that maybe your EncodeAll ECMA/JavaScript function may not be getting registered properly or in a timely manner.  Have you used IE Developer Tools (F12) to poke around
and view the available ECMA/JavaScript Files and definitions?
There are different ways to register ECMA/JavaScript in *.NET.  One primitive way is to simply put something like this in the "head" tag of your MasterPage or ASPX file:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="./myJSFile.js">
    </script>
Others ways are to use the
    ScriptManager or
RegisterClientScriptInclude .  You can see a few easy examples of how to register ECMA/JavaScript in Mr. Akhtar's post here:
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1666797/how-to-include-javascript-file-in-asp-net-page
One really *strange* behavior that seems to get a lot of people when registering JavaScript manually via the "script" tag as mentioned above is that you often have to use a *full* </script> end tag for scripts to register properly.
I have *no* idea why some browsers require this, but it is something web developers need to be aware of.  For example my
    "<script type='text/javascript' src='./myJSFile.js'></script>"
example above should work if you have the right path but strangely
"<script type='text/javascript' src='./myJSFile.js' />" does *not* necessarily work on all browsers even if you do use the correct path to the desired ECMA/JavaScript File.
    Best,
    Shawn

  • Help with tweaking blog and webform built in Adobe Muse

    Hi there.
A client of mine had a 3rd party do a re-design (in Adobe Muse) of their current site in BC. Managed to get most of the re-design all launched except for a couple of tweaks that have been giving me major headaches.
Firstly, is it possible to edit the site that was built in Muse directly from BC itself and not Muse? I don't have a Muse subscription.
If so, I need help with the following that I have tried to tweak myself, but just can't find out how. BTW I am not a developer but muddle my way around editing existing code etc etc.
    1. On the contact us page, I need to add an additional field to the webform. A radio button question: "preferred contact method". Phone or email. I know how to add the field to the webform in BC. Apparently Muse forms don't support radio buttons? Anyway, I can't figure out how to edit the source on the contact page  to include the fields that I add to the webform.
    2. Some minor tweaks to the layout of the blog page. I need to make the horizontal and vertical lines meet up and not have a space. Also, the left column width needs to be decreased and the right column width increased. Basically I need the current live blog http://www.robertsonburns.com.au/blah-blog to look like the previously coded muse blog (which is not live) http://robertsonburns-test5.businesscatalyst.com/blah.html which it does, except for these two minor issues.
Would appreciate anyone's help and/or advice.
    Thanks.

    Hey there,
Yes you just go to the site either via... site.buisnesscatalyst.com/admin or livesite.com/admin
Once you do that you can login. It depends how it was built though. Properly a site will have content holders and templates and the pages just hold the content. A user can go to those pages, webapps, blogs (dependng on the plan and build of the site) can edit that content.
Muse is not the best in terms of handling that and making updates, I am aware the Team updated Muse to handle fetching updates etc though but there is a note of caution on that stil though.
    1. What is the plan of the site? If it is just a CC site then there is no web form manager with that plan of BC. You will have to edit and update the form built in Muse.
If it is on a plan that supports web forms it also depends on how you built it. If in Muse you should be able to just update the form in Muse I think and it posts into the system to update. If not then you need to go into the admin and web form manager and edit the html to make changes. This depends though if the form was inserted as a module, if not you need to navigate to the template or page and update it there once you have added the new fields to the form under the web form itself.
    2. Layouts are managed via SFTP under the folder Layouts or in the admin under Module Templates in the main menu and Blog layouts.

  • Webforms Login

Is there a way to do something like OPS$ for webforms?
The point is to avoid authentication when starting the forms application; this should be taken from the OS-Login at the "Client".

I guess the question is if the web server machine can get this kind of information from the client machine.
Maybe a servlet can get some of the information but I doubt if it can get the client's user and password due to security reasons.
If it could then the servlet can generate an HTML page that calls the form and have the correct user/pass info in the page.

  • Purchase of the Webform Central

    I have 2 questions:
    1. I wish to purchase Webform central annual subscription costing $143.88.  I wish to ask you whether this subscription will allow me to convert and download as pdf files the forms and responses from people into my laptop?
    2. Is it necessary to buy Adobe Pro XI to avail the conversion facility of web forms into pdf files.
In other words, whether the Adobe webform central form generation and response collection software usage requires Adobe XI Pro or can this be used independently.
    Thanks
    regards
    Dr. Ali

#1 - Yes, you can download a response as PDF. This tutorial explains how it works: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1383
#2 - FormsCentral is a completely separate application. You do not need Acrobat Pro XI.
