Webhelp ducc output size

Tool: Robohelp 11, webhelp, using DUCC (dynamic user-centric content)
Question: DUCC generates its own output files for each Content Category you create. However, my use of DUCC is simple, only toc/indexes. Can output size be reduced?
Reason: 1) good to know. My use of DUCC may be more complex next time.  2) A software build process has many steps and players. While an added 50MB is small potatoes sizewise, it would be courteous to reduce time if not needed.
Possible method I can think of: Perhaps there's a dialog box option to redirect the DUCC tocs/indexes to the main topics instead of generating a separate set of files.
Details
My output sizes
Non-DUCC webhelp output is 25MB
Adding 2 DUCC Content Categories totals 75MB
My user's Help selections
Product Help (default, used by about half of the users, inclusive toc/index)
Manager Help (unique toc/index)
User Help (unique toc/index)
My use of DUCC is perhaps the simplest:
Only toc/index differ
All have same conditional text and language
Search finds all topics
Thank you

Sorry but that's the way DUCC works. Each output is necessarily different. Your TOC may have Safety Steps for example and the categories could be different trades with different steps. It might be the same topic in the source but each output could be different because of build tags. To point one TOC topic to the same topic and dynamically apply the build tag would require actions that are just not possible in a browser.
In most cases use of DUCC is more complex and tags will provide different content and the search will find only relevant topics.

  • How can I reduce the output size of what I want to print?

    I have an HP Touchsmart Web and recently needed to enlarge the document I was printing.  I thought I enlarged it under the Advanced tab in Printer Preferences, but now I can't find anywhere that you gives you the option to change the output size.  I remember it gave me drop down choices of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 150%, 200% etc.  Now  I can't print most of the things I need because it enlarges everything.  However, when I scan, it prints real size, it's only when I print something from the computer.  Please help!  I can't use my printer when I need it!

    Thank you for your help.  Your reply wasn't actually the answer I needed, but it somehow jogged my memory as to how to fix it.  I kept thinking the problem wasn't with the printer, but with a setting in my computer and I was correct.  I had to go to File, then Print Preview, then change the Scale, which had the drop down choices I remembered.  I changed it back to 100% but was surprised it stayed permanently at the setting I had used before.  I thought it always went back to 100% after turning off the computer, but that obviously isn't the case.  Thanks again!

    Hi. I would like to know what the video output size to use for a (horizontal) Lower Third. I will be very grateful for your help. Thanx in advance. Sam.

    Make it the same horizontal & vertical size as your video.  The upper 2/3 needs to be transparent.

  • How do I determine expected output size for System Exec vi

    I am running a DOS exe from a Batch file using the System Exec vi. My exe is programming software for a microcontroller and passes data to the programmer via the serial port. When I run the batch file externaly to LabView it works fine. When I run the same batch file using the System Exec vi I get an error from the programmer app (DOS app). Not every time but usually within 20 attempts. I reduced the execution priority of my vi's to give more time to the DOS window. This seems to have helped but hasn't solved the problem completely. I read in the help file that LabView will run more efficiently if you specifiy the expected output size in the System Exec vi, but how do I determine it? Is the expected output
    size the size of the bat file I call?

    If you think it is due to timing, and you wish to yield to the DOS app,
    don't just lower the priority of LV, but use Wait ms to put overeager
    diagram elements to sleep and limit their loop rate. Use the task
    manager or performance monitor of the computer to determint if this is
    the issue.

  • How to set output size for mp4?

    Hello,
    I'm having a problem with the export of a Captivate video tutorial.
    The output size is w 1440 x h 900 pixels. It comes out looking fine, but as soon as we put it through any other transcoding process as required by our own workflows, the image quality deteriorates.
    Now, I've read in this forum that any alteration of the size of the image will cause this deterioration in quality. Effectively, the dimensions of the transcoded output from our own video editors are much smaller than those of the input mp4.
    However, we would like to keep that smaller size because it makes for better performances in video streaming.
    Is there any way in Captivate to set the dimensions for the mp4 output to be smaller? The 1440 x 900 dimensions are already different from the capture area (the whole screen), so it seems they are independent from the capture settings.
    Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Help setting up for spicific output sizes

    This is probably a very basic issue but I need help. I am using Premier Pro CS4 and have a variety of digital media sizes ranging from from 320x240 to 720x480 and need to find the correct way to set things up so i can scale the different sources up or down to match my final out put size of 480X360. And the best way to get a specific sized scale.
    Thank you!!!

    Ok this is driving me crazy...I have tried setting up new sequences, new projects and everything I can imagine. I thought I found it when I discovered that setting the program monitor to 100% doesn't actually show you the whole frame...what was I thinking - errrrrr. I set it to 75% and saw that all my media was not going edge to edge as suggested by Stanley above. I re-scaled all the media and then went to the export window and on the output screen I saw the re-size box was checked and I had black edges again. When I turned it off it changed the output size to 436X360.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
    Here is a link to the screen grabs - http://johnandtj.com/pics/
    Picture 1 shows my desktop with the preview and program window at 75% and that I have the correct sequence selected at the top of the program monitor (sequences settings in Picture 2).
    Picuure 2 shows my sequence settings and the frame size of 480X360
    Picture 3 shows my export settings and preview on the source tab
    Picture 4 shows my my export settings and preview on the output tab and the fact that it sees the video as too tall hence the re-size is checked and it shrinks the video and gives black left and right.
    Picture 5 shows my my export settings and preview on the output tab and the video fits but the re-size is unchecked and so the size is 436x360. (How is this possible).
    PLEASE HELP me figure out this insanity (or just loan me a gun :-)
    I will be off line till late pacific time and will hope to fine a miracle answer to get me going on this late night session...
    MANY, MANY THANKS!

  • How can I get a larger output size without dropouts?

    Using FMLE 3.2 to push HD to UStream.  Capture card is a Decklink Studio2.  Codec is h.264.  I see blocking and get dropouts on the input side when I increase the output size above 720 x 404.  I have used different bit rates, up to 2500.  Same problem.

    I figured out what the issue was.  The data going into the
    indicator on the front (the graph) was an array containing 10
    points.  I was able to change it so it updates every point by
    changing an input into the sub vi, storing the array and then
    connecting an indicator to read the 1st value from that array.
    Thanks - Josh

  • Maximum character output size limit reached

    While importing data in Lumira using HANA based universes I am getting an error maximum character output size limit reached. Will appreciate any info on which server parameter controls this property. Attached the error message.

    Hi everyone,
    I believe Henry Banks discovered a solution for resolving this kind of error message. This is a limit which can be changed from within the "Web Intelligence Processing Server" from your CMC based on large amount of rows in your data. You can find his post about this here.
    It's roughly about half way down the page and I hope it helps.

    Thanks,Its not clear what you want. Do you mean to say that when you see the output, its large and doesn't fit properly? If yes than probably you need the formatting of the output. If not, be more precise in telling us what you want along with the database version of yours.

  • Error message "Maximum character output size limit reach Err_WIS_30272"

    Users are getting the Error message "Maximum character output size limit reach Err_WIS_30272" while creating the Universe Query in the Live Office, but when they create the same query in the Web intelligence Report then it work fine.
    To resolve this error message we can have to increase the value of "Maximum Character Stream Size" parameter in the Web intelligence Processing Server.
    But i want to know the reason why the error message is only appearing in the Live Office Query, where it work fine in Web intelligence Query.
    Are there architectural difference in Web intelligence and Live Office?

  • Why my Input/output size of backup increased

    I have a following rman backup script
    run {
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 1 cumulative device type disk tag 'Baan_bkup$LEVEL_0' data
    base;
    recover copy of database;
    backup device type disk tag 'Baan_bkup$LEVEL_0' archivelog all not backed up;
    backup archivelog until time 'sysdate-3' delete all input;
    crosscheck backupset;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    delete noprompt expired backup;
    running once daily for almost three weeks. the first 9 days, the input/output sizes were fractional (ex 3G/88M), then it switched to ~16G/1.3G and stayed that level. Because this is test DB server, basically there is no activity on it except the mentainace activity by DB itself. So how did it happen to cause the size change? The real backup sets only maintain at 3 days level as the script. My database size is 16.88G of 10g R2 on RH EL3

    That is the behavior in 9i and 10g1. In 10gR2 things change.
    Unused Block Compression Of Datafile Backups to Backup Sets
    When backing up datafiles into backup sets, RMAN does not back up the contents of data blocks that have never been allocated. (In previous releases, this behavior was referred to as NULL compression.)
    RMAN also skips other datafile blocks that do not currently contain data, if all of the following conditions apply:
    The COMPATIBLE initialization parameter is set to 10.2
    There are currently no guaranteed restore points defined for the database
    The datafile is locally managed
    The datafile is being backed up to a backup set as part of a full backup or a level 0 incremental backup
    The backup set is being created on disk.

  • Image Capture - Can't set output size or jpeg options

    I upgraded to SL and found out that I now have to use Image Capture instead of HP ScanPro on my OfficeJet 5510. In ScanPro, after the preview scan, I could select an area to be scanned, specify a width for the output size in pixels and let ScanPro calculate the height, and scan to a jpeg file specifying the jpeg quality as medium. Image Capture does not allow these settings. Are there any Image Capture options that are hidden somewhere or is there any other way to scan in SL?

    I am having the same issue with Image Capture as well. It's not just with my JPG settings, it's with all scanned document using the document feeder. I use a canon MF4370dn. I'm attempting to scan a 20 page document to PDF and it will not allow me to set the output size, there's an option there, just will not allow me to set it (it stays blank). So when I scan I get a very small pixel on the page (about 1/2" by 1/2" on each page, nothing else is scanned in. Weird, any help?

  • RH webhelp output size increase

    I'm a recent upgrade from RH v9.1 to RH X5.0.2.
    When I generate Webhelp output from X5, my output folder size
    is approx 2x the size of the webhelp output from v9.1. Is there any
    way to generate "lean" webhelp output (similar in size to what I
    was getting from v9.1)? Thanks.

    Hi stealthrt
    Hmmm, this is almost like comparing spiders to hedgehogs. The
    WebHelp differences are many between these versions. There is much
    we don't know and will need to, in order to provide a reasonably
    coherent answer.
    Is your WebHelp output in X5 using a skin? Skins weren't
    available in version 9.1 and they have many different aspects that
    can make the folder size grow.
    This is just one possible explanation.

  • TOC/Search window not displayed in WebHelp Pro output

    Robohelp10, WebHelp Pro -
    I've got what I have to think is pretty fundamental question: When I generate my WebHelp Pro project, everything works perfectly until I move the contents of the output folder to a network drive for viewing. When the default topic opens, rather than displaying the TOC/Search window on the left, I'm getting a link that says "Show". Click that link, and the TOC opens right up.
    I would like to have the TOC displayed on that initial view, without requiring users to click the "Show" link.
    Again, when I view the results of the output on my local drive, the TOC is displayed. The obvious problem is, the generated help needs to reside on a network drive to be accessed by our users...
    PS: The project is on my local drive, only the contents of the output folder are being moved to the network drive. Also, everything other than the TOC display seems to be working fine.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    -lcarey

    Larry, Rick has solved your conditional build issue. However, do check to make sure you have all the updates installed for RoboHelp 10.
    WebHelp issues in RoboHelp versions 10 and 11
    I notice you are using IE. Does the Show link occur with Chrome or Firefox as well?
    Meanwhile, I'm still suspect that you are not opening the correct "default" start page file to launch the WebHelp and that's why you're getting that "Show" link. This is "tell-tale" that you are opening the default topic file instead of the default Start Page. By chance have you somehow named your "default topic", index.html? If so, this is not correct.
