WebHelp Font Displays Incorrectly in Browser

Using version X5.0.2
Generated WebHelp and uploaded files from SSL! folder to
client's FTP site. When they upload files (all files from the SSL!
folder), the Help text font displays as Times New Roman. However,
the style sheet I used to create the Help set font type at Tahoma.
Also, I'm not sure why, but when I generate the WebHelp, two style
sheet files appear, one named MS_Help.css and the other named
MS_Help_ns.css.

Hello MaLoCo123 -
Re: two style sheets - correct and normal (one for IE and one
for Netscape).
As to the displayed font, not your fault UNLESS you didn't
follow your agreed upon project standards. This is user (client)
setting dependant.
If I opened your Webhelp from my home I would not get what
you want because I don't do Windows and I don't have Tahoma on one
of my Linux boxes (the one I would use to view your project).
I would see what I specify in my browser preferences
regardless of what you wanted, even on a Windows box.

  • Chinese font displayed incorrectly in Windows XP

We are creating pdf documents in our business system containing chinese text and therefore using Windows SimSun font as default. Pdf files shows up correctly in Windows Vista, 7 and 8 but in Windows XP it displayes incorrect characters.
If I copy and paste the text from pdf to Notepad in Windows XP and select the SimSun font it diplayes correct characters. Problem is in Adobe Reader, we have tested from ver 9 and up to the latest but still showing incorrect characters.
Any ideas on why this is happening on Windows XP ?

Do you have the appropriate Chinese font pack installed on any of these computers?

  • Fonts display incorrectly in published page - iWeb 08

Sorry, another moan / question about iWeb 08.
I started to create my site with iWeb 06 and upgraded to iWeb 08.
My published site looks perfect in safari, firefox, opera and omniweb in OSX.
But in internet explorer and firefox for windows, the fonts in most text boxes do not display properly (reverts to a basic font, not the one specified).
As far as I can tell, if it is a plain textbox, the text displays incorrectly, but if, for example I add a hyperlink to the exact same box, the font changes to the one I specify. (Also some text boxes with a filled background or a border seem to display correctly).
Any ideas how to fix this. Any help would be much appreciated.

I asked the same question about a week ago......what people have told me is edit the border, frame or text in photoshop, if I'm not changing thta part of the page....
Are your podcast, blogs and photo pages working ok in IE or Nestcape???.......For me in IE the text and the fonts where the problem.......but in Netscape that was ok, but the podcast, nav bar, photos and blogs are not showing.......When I was using iWeb 06 I did not have this problem......

  • Web fonts displaying bolder in browser

    Hello!
I am working with web fonts (Abel and Lato, namely, but have noticed the issue with others).
The way the fonts display in Muse is different from the way they end up displaying in the browser, whether I use "preview page in browser" or I export to HTML.
The fonts end up being bolder, on all browsers I have tested.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening, and make sure the end results is consistent with what is created in Muse?
See the image attached for a comparison.
    Thank you!

I would also like to know why this happens.

  • Font displays incorrectly

I have set Verdana as my display font in all circumstances and always have done with all versions of Firefox. But in this version, on CERTAIN text (e.g. on Google searches, all text beneath the link), the font displays in some 'comic' style font that is near completely illegible.
Certain parts of the webpages are fine and do display in verdana, but not sure why as there are 3 settings for fonts in preferences, serif, sans serif and monospace, but it could have nothing to do with these as they are all set to Verdana as is the default.

You can do a check for corrupted fonts and other font issues:

    Don't use <font> tags.

  • Arabic font displaying incorrectly

I used Avery Design and Print onine to create labels and have inlcuded Arabic text. It all looks fine until I download the document as a pdf file where the text becomes jumbled up. In other words, the Arabic letters are still present but it's all mixed up rather than connected the way it should be. I have used Times New Roman for the Arabic text and have also tried different fonts like Arial and Verdana. I have used both Macs and PCs , as well multiple browsers including Chrome, IE, and Firefox. My default browser is Chrome, however. Also, I do have the latest version of Adobe Reader download, if that helps. I have been trying to figure this out for a few hours and nothing is working!! Please help!!!!!!!!!!

Chrome and Firefox use their own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.
Since it fails on all three, my first suspicion is that the problem lies with the software that created the PDF.

  • Font Display Size in Browser

Using the increase font function in Firefox, the fonts on my website increase in some text boxes and not in others, and I can't figure out for the life of me why.
All of the text is in various text boxes, yet text size in some boxes increases while text size in others does not. As far as I know, I created all these boxes in the same manner.
    What gives?
I would like to do one of two things: (1) either fix the font sizes in EVERY text box (so it does not react to increase/decrease commands), or (2) make the text in ALL boxes increase/decrease, with the text boxes stretching to accommodate it.
I can't find anything about this in iWeb help.
    Help!

In Firefox, text entered in a text box without a shadow etc. will increase/decrease. Text that is converted to a graphic, such as that typed in a shape, will not.

  • 10.4.7 Font Display

Since updating to 10.4.7 I've noticed that fonts displayed on my browser seem a little chunkier and fuzzier than usual. I've checked both Mozilla Firefox and Safari and it's the same.
Has anyone else had this issue - or maybe know how to resolve it? So many sites now seem to use a bolder, fuzzier font it's really quite annoying.

This is definitely sounding like a 10.4.7 induced problem. I first noticed it on starting a PowerPoint document on a train en route to a meeting, and then having to sit through 20 minutes of clicking OK as it reported how DOZENS of my fonts were corrupted and should be removed. Since then I also noticed that Mail's default font, and those in many other programs, had changed to a blockier or harder to read font. I came home, and quietly dragged the Fonts folder from my external cloned backup and did a restart. No joy, the problem remained. I started Word and it too reports the same fonts as corrupted, though the Fonts folder was copied from the external drive. Something in 10.4.7 either changed how applications access some fonts or did something else to them.
Apple's updates are getting buggier every time, more like Windows.

  • Incorrect font display in pdf document(web view)

    Adobe helpers,
I am encountering a  very peculiar problem with incorrect display of fonts in pdf documents when viewed in a web browser. Briefly, the problem typically affects  the first page of a pdf document, the font being displayed as an unidentified mix of large and very small, skinny type.  Other pages may or may not be affected, and if one back-clicks to the previous page the text often displays the correct font, so the problem is in some (but not all) cases non-persistent.  The problem however is resolved completely if I uncheck the 'display pdf in browser' option  under edit>preferences in adobe reader. Fonts I use include Arial, Cambria, Franklin Gothic Book, and Garamond; as straight-up pdfs, the documents look fine. FYI, I have Adobe reader X 10.0.1 (Win 7) and 9.0 (Win XP sp3) installed on two different machines. Firefox 3.6 and IE9 are equally at fault. FWIW, all the pdf documents begin life as MS Word or Publisher 2010 documents, which are converted to pdf within these applications before publishing to web.   Since I can't control how people choose to view web pdfs, I'm concerned that display of the prone documents is impaired when viewed in a web browser.
Not sure if this is a reader, browser, or distiller problem but this seems a logical place to start looking for answers. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

I've also had problems printing with Reader X.
When printing an attachment from an email in Outlook, if I don't open the attachment first, sometimes it doesn't print correctly as everything shows with the following number or letter. Example 12345 will print as "23456" and invoice will show as "jowpjdf". Even if I open the attachment, sometimes it will print the first page ok, but the next pages will "mppl mjlf uijt".
Never had this problem with previous versions.

  • Google Chrome displaying incorrect fonts

I have just downloaded google chrome for the first time and tested a site I have built in it, and all the fonts are times/serif style when I have created the style sheet to have ariel/helvetice/sans serif as the default body font.
Every other browser I have tested my site in has displayed the correct fonts - even dare I say it - Internet Explorer seems to be doing a great job! So why not chrome? Having looked for some rational reason, I decided to come here, using chrome as my browser, and it was then that I noticed that the adobe site which is normally sans serif is displaying serif fonts!!
    Why?
Here's a link to the site:

Oh bless you... are you and your hefty walleted father in-law really that naive to believe this is a live website?
I am in the process of constructing the site, and as a result, I need to test it on a testing server rather than on my client's live domain! Occasionally, one has problems that one cannot seem to overcome without a little guidance from others who are able to help, which is obviously why you have joined this forum. If one does have problems, then you will without question be asked to show an example of the site and its code before you even get a relevant and constructive response. That's all you are looking at
As you rightly point out, the product range is missing images. If you actually bothered to look at the code, you would see that the source is blank, and secondly, if you read the text below each, you would see that all four are identical. Why would I bother to do that on a live site? You will also see that there are other parts of the site that I am yet to build, or if they are built, then I need to populate them with something other than dummy content. There is so much lorem ipsum across the site that I find it hard to believe anybody would consider this to be a finished product!
Look at what you have just judged and you will realise that there are so many clues that this isn't a complete site. The domain I have asked people to look at is under the name of matthew stuart design, and if you bothered to look at the top level of the domain, you'll quickly discover I am a graphic and web designer. I do not supply generators to markets (which are clearly indicated), such as the military where they generate electrical power to war torn regions to aid in the rebuild of that which has been destroyed... I don't supply the medical sector where stand-by power is required just in case there is a power failure during open-heart surgery.
If you studied the content of the wibiya bar, you would see that it refers to me as a designer, and my approach is a friendly one. However, at the moment I don't feel particularly friendly. Every job I have done has fulfilled my clients needs, but not only that, it has also fulfilled the requirements of my client's clients'. The wibiya bar is simply there as an example to my customers... I don't even have it on my live site!
What you have posted is totally out of line. The client I am building this site for has an exceptional name in their industry, and if your father in-law was in the market of buying a power generator, then I recommend them highly, and they will be able to build him something that suits his budget. If your father in-law requires a website, then I suggest he use somebody with experience, and that would be me, or any number of other experienced members of this forum.
So, your father in-law has made an incorrect judgement - leading me to question if he applies the same analytical processes to his million pound budget, OR, it's more than likely you have misled him due to your own naivety, and if that is the case, then I apologise for my previous comment about his capabilities.
If you're going to insult me, make sure you get your ducks in a row before-hand. Making such a comment could spread like a virus ruining my clients reputation... that's not just A BIG NO NO, it is hugely irresponsible!
By the way, I don't sell paper clips, but I've had a box full of them for more than 10 years and I don't use them; you can have them free of charge... you'll just need to pay for the postage!

I changed my header in iweb and when I published the site the font had shrunk and it displayed incorrectly. It was only on my home page, not on others. I have iweb 3.0.4. Help!?!?

Just in-case anyone els runs into this, I figured it out... I was working from my hotel and apperantly the fire wall was not allowing anything to uplaod, but I wasn't getting an error message from iweb, it would say that everything was published succesfully even though it wasn't. Once I went home and used my connection eveything worked fine.

  • Font display in design view is wrong / browser displays it correctly

The links I place on my webstie pages display with the wrong (too large) font in design view but when the page is viewed in a browser, the links are displayed correctly. I have CSS entries in place that control link behavior and display and they work just fine in a browser but in design view, the link displays as a larger font than it should. I make all of the links bold.   If I put a "class= "  specification inside the <a> tag, then the size is right but if I then make the text bold, the size is once again displayed too large.  If the text is not inside the <a> tag and it it's part of <p class="..."  and I make it bold, it displays as bold and as specified by the class..
    In other words
    <p class="class1">text1
    <strong><a href="reference">text2</a></strong>
    </p
Tthe size of text2 is always too large in display mode but is correctly displayed in a browser.
    Any ideas?
    B. Berkov

Good point ... I inherited the code and CSS and changed a couple of 10pt to 12px so changing the CSS for links to 12px instead of 10pt will probably fix it.  Still, I would have thought that design view would match what's seen in the browser regardless.
    Thanks,
    B. Berkov

  • Some Hebrew HTML displayed incorrectly (left to right) in outlook 2013

office 2013 with Hebrew language pack on windows 7 professional English version. Some messages in outlook display Hebrew HTML incorrectly (Left to Right). Not all of the message displayed incorrectly but just some parts of it. It offers me to view the
message in a browser and when I do, the browser displays the message correctly. I've extracted from the source code an example of code that is displayed incorrectly:
    div

    href="#job_5541828"
    style="font-family:Arial;font-size:11pt;color:#006CC6;">מפתח/תnet.
    עםניסיוןב++C
    לצדהserver</a></div>
is there a way to fix that?
(by the way, here it is displayed correctly, right-to-left)
    Gadi

Hi, If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, before you can use any of the right-to-left features in Microsoft Office, or even
correctly display right-to-left scripts, you must
    Add an input language and
enable the keyboard layout for the right-to-left language.
Please also check if you have set Outlook to use UTF-8:
    1. Click the orange "File" tab in the top left corner of the Outlook 2010 window and click "Options" on the pull-down menu. A new window titled "Outlook Options" appears.
    2. Click the "Advanced" heading on the left side of the window and then scroll to the "International Options" heading near the bottom.
    3. Place a check in the box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
    4. Place a check in the box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing vCards" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
    5. Place a check in the box labeled "Allow UTF-8 support for the mailto: protocol."
    6. Click "OK."
Please read Right-to-left language features to learn more:

  • Centering and displaying 100% in browser won't work.

I believe I followed the instructions that were posted previously and I did some reading about centering a page and displaying the page at 100% but I can't seem to make them work correctly. I might have a conflict or something can you help.
I designed a website which was 1000px wide and now they want it changed (they want an image on both sides of the page)-so instead of changing it around completely and trying to mess with the areas and buffers and all of that fun stuff. I decided to leave the #container (which is were all the data for the site is and were as the template is applied to other pages the size will change -the height will change but the width should stay 100px.)that was there and then wrapp it up completly in another div tag which i labeled #master_container then I inserted 2 more div tags and placed the images on either side as is desired. I followed the instructions above (because now the site is soo big displaying in a browser is diffacult). I need the site to do 3 things.
-i need it to display centered on the page so that no matter what browser it is displayed in or what size screen it is viewed on it fits the center of the screen.
-I also would like it to fit the screen of the person using it so that they see the whole page as one and there isn't a huge blank space on one of the sides -right now it is on the right.
-if you know how to make the two images on the side of the screen scroll as the person scrolls down the page-(ie-so that they don't see part of the image sometimes and other parts of it when they move farther down-wouldl like it to scroll with them as they move down the page)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Ok I have no idea what i am doing wrong this is the most frusterating thing I have ever done. I will never build another webpage again.
Here is the problem that I have i don't care how it gets solved but I just need it solved. this is over a week trying to solve one problem. I just don't have the time to do it anymore but I need it done.
    1) this page (http://practiceuploadingsite.info/) needs to be centered.  That's all just centered in the brosers that it opens in. (nothing I try seems to work)
    2) every other page on that website after you click into the home page (http://practiceuploadingsite.info/Pages/home.html) is made by the application of a template. All I want to do is keep eveything the same as it is right now and just add 2 background images (one on the right and one on the left) so that this:
fits inside of the blank space of this:
preferably so the images scroll down the page because the center colum will change height but not widith depending on the page the template is applied to.
I even tried to remake the template as to include the images all at once with the div tages and the header seems to have nothing but problems and I couldn't get them to stay together correctly. they keep coming up uneven and the header that is contained on the page spans the entire container and will not just stay the way it is.
Just please tell me how to do this and you will never hear from me again.
I am uploading the site information so you have the files I am working from Idk if it is something wrong with the headers the div containers or what but almost just put my computer through the window so I don't care how to get it done just please spell it out so I can follow it correctly.
    THANK YOU!!
THIS IS THE MAIN LAYOUT TEMPLATE THAT IS APPLIED TO THE WORKING SITE THE WAY I WANT IT EXCEPT FOR THE IMAGES
