WebHelp format does not display in Firefox

I'm using RoboHelp 7 to produce a develoment platform
documentation. When producing a WebHelp output I can display the
contents locally via Firefox 2.0. The process is then to copy the
whole set of files to a web server via Filezilla. No pb for
accessing to the contents via IE through the adequate URL. But via
Firefox, it is not possible because of a serie of weird characters
which prevent the default page loading. To be noticed: no pb with
FlashHelp output. I have configured Filezilla to force characters
to UTF-8. I don't see any solution. Who did experience such
situation and how could you fix it ?

Thank You for your response.
Firefox does not load anything but just the weird characters.
They are a sequence of inverse interrogation marks, quotes etc.
They appear at default page loading.
In fact when I edit the source file, there is a line at the
top of the file and nothing else. I deleted the line, saved the
file and uploaded it to the web server with Filezilla.
When I edit the uploaded file the line at the top appears
again and the pb also.
I therferore suspect that the intrusive characters are
inserted during the upload.
I have checked the Filezilla parameters to force a binary
copy and characters to UTF-8.
Without any success....
Here we are, still needing a solution.

I uploaded a new font and it does not display in firefox

I have a website that uses a font that is not a standard "Microsoft" font - I uploaded the font to my computer and it displays just fine in Word and Open Office, but my website does not display it. How do I get FireFox to read the font file I just uploaded? I made certain that it IS available in the Windows\Fonts directory.

Well, browsers only display "system fonts" unless, in Html 5 you establish the CSS @font to use other fonts.
But, you are sounding like you are not doing that. When you design a webpage on YOUR PC *your* systems fonts will show properly ON YOUR PC because they are *your system* fonts that the browser can find... on *your* machine only.
BUT, all other PCs/Macs/etc. probably do not have your font installed on their machines and the browser on their machines cannot find the named font, so it substitutes best guesses at it from the normally available generally available system fonts. So, when you create a webpage on *your* machine you WILL see what you are creating because THAT font is available to the browser... but only on YOUR machine.
**** Only Solution **** is to use Html-5 @fonts CSS definitions BUT that too is tricky but works. Otherwise you get standard system fonts whether *your* machine displays properly or not.

The text highlight icon in hotmail rich text toolbar does not display in firefox but does in IE

if I open hotmail using firefox then I start composing an email message in hotmail the icon to highlight text does not appear in the rich text toolbar. it does appear when hotmail opened in internet explorer. it was working fine the other day

Java is listed as enabled under Firefox Tools/Add-ons/PlugIns and the Java Test confirms the latest version is installed and working.
Additional information. When I click on Grid it displays the solution but still with the lines of the grid missing.

XML Publisher report output in RTF format does not display full page

Hi,
We have one XML Publisher report, the output of report in RTF format is not getting displayed in Full Page in normal way (MS Word -->View menu --> Print layout) but we can see full page display when we do MS Word -->View menu --> Outline.
Appreciate your valuable inputs on this.
Is this a template issue or any profiles needs to be set.

RoboHelp 10 generates Webhelp that does not display well in Google Chrome

We use RoboHelp 10 and create WebHelp which we post on a webserver. The TOC Index, Search / navigation panes do not display any content. If we generate a version with the "Pure HTML" option instead of the "DHTML" option the navigation panes do show the content, but we would rather not take this route because other functions still don't work properly.
It happens regardless of the contents of the helpfile.
No relevant JavaScript errors show in the console.
We found various tricks that claim to solve this issue but at least for RoboHelp 10 they don't work.

Only Adobe can answer the first question but I would not recommend holding your breath! Please do submit a bug report as otherwise there is no chance of a fix. Please follow this link.

I have not tested the method using a CHM generated from RoboHelp for Word so I cannot give you that assurance. However, I cannot see why it would be any different and the links work whenever I have reverse engineered a CHM.
The downside of course is any build tags will be lost as your source will be just whatever was in the output.
The process only takes a short while so it's worth a try.

Firefox tabs opened on mobile device does not display on Firefox Desktop

I have open tabs on my mobile device and then I go to see them on my firefox installed on my laptop through History>tabs from other devices. However, this page does not list the tabs from my mobile device.
How can I fix this?
I remember that several months ago I was able to do this. and now i can not.

Updated information in WebHelp topics does not display in IE8

We recently updated some help topics for our web portal and published the updated help system to our QA environment.
Users running Internet Explorer 8 cannot see the updated content in the help topics. They can see the help topics and navigating the help system with no problems--they just can't see the updated content inside the affected topics.
We've had users change their Compatibility View settings and clear their browser's cache, but those steps have not solved the problem. Has anyone encountered this problem or have a suggestion on how to resolve it?

Hi there
One thing to check is to see if the content is actually present on the page. I did some training up in Detroit where they claimed updates were not being "seen". Seems the updates were indeed present on the page, but because of some formatting issues that had been present all along, an IE upgrade changed the visibility of the content. The content was indeed there, but IE was not rendering it as visible.
If memory serves, you could select the content and it would appear.
I'd first try right-clicking and viewing source to see if the content is present. If so, you are seeing the same thing I found. It will then be a matter of examining the CSS tagging on the content in the page. If that's the case, you will find you need do do some cleanup of the CSS to make things work.
If the content isn't even in the source, it sounds to me that you may be looking at a cached version of the page.

Silverlight 5.0 does not display in Firefox 9.0.1

The genealogy website americanancestors.org uses Silverlight to display graphic images of archived records. When such a record is displayed, the corresponding portion of the screen stays white. The image is apparently there, but presumably displaying white on white, so it is invisible. I can right-click and select "save original" and the record is saved correctly to my hard disk, and can then be viewed. But it cannot be viewed online in the Firefox tab.
I have uninstalled, re-installed, updated etc. to no avail. Is there some setting I am missing?

I was having the same problem displaying investment charts that use Silverlight. I'm running Firefox 9.0.1 with Silverlight 5.0.61118.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. At least for me, it seems the problem is Silverlight only likes to run in 32-bit on a Mac (There was supposed to be a 64-bit version of Silverlight 5, but I can't seem to find it on the website). Running Firefox in 32-bit mode solved the problem.

Unicode format does not display correctly.

I had written a program in JAVA (functions like a wordpad), and it can interprete ASCII and Unicode correctly. But when I pass the program to my friend, the program cannot interprete the Unicode section correctly....
There are 3 main questions in my mind now.
1) Is it that different Java versions analyse Unicode differently?
2) why is it that my 'java plugin' in control panel is displayed in Chinese and my colegue's computer is showing it in English?
3) Is this due to the different language enviroment settings that is causing this problem?

String class and some of java.io classes have constructors and/or
methods that takes charset argument. You can use them for different
encodings.

Airtight Gallery Not Displaying in Firefox

I am using Lightroom to generate the Autoview gallery from Airtight and the Lightroom export facility to drop it into my Dreamweaver defined site. The gallery works fine in Internet Explorer but does not display in Firefox. I have tried hardcoding the entire url and file structure string into the param name field of the object clause - didn't fix it. I'm using most if not all of the defaults for the Dreamweaver and Lightroom paramaters. I have found very few postings on this in any of the Adobe, Airtight, and Firefox forums I have checked. There were a few that referenced making sure that hot links were not turned on at the web service. In my case, they are not - that is not the problem. Can anyone offer any help?

I would check the differences between the version that targets IE browsers versus all other browsers since dreamweaver uses code that targets one or the other, and make sure they have the appropriate information for both. Next I would check the css for that area.

New favicon will not display in Firefox, but does display in Safari

I am working on a new website and uploaded the favicon.ico into the root folder (Go Daddy). The favicon appears when I use Safari, not does not appear in Firefox... I have a mac OSX version 10.5 I have cleared the history and cache too. Any thoughts?

I have this problem too. I've just loaded my favicon.ico into my root folder and it shows next to the site url in latest Safari 5.0.5, but not in Firefox 3.6.17 - neither next to the site url nor on the page name tab.
Firefox also does not show the favicon in the Tools > Page Info > Media tab, although this does list just three of the many jpgs and pngs within its folders. I've just added the favicon.ico to the folder where it does see a jpg and png, but no joy, still not displayed. See attached png.
How do I overcome this problem? Is there a plugin that resolves this issue? It would be nice to have some color in the page name tabs. Many sites, such as this one, do have their favicons displayed by Firefox...

Firefox does NOT display Ebay items

A text of an ebay item# 130543746409 does NOT display in some parts of the auction item. When I use IE for item#130543746409, the text is displayed. I have screen prints of both Firefox and IE as proof of Firefox's shortcoming, but I see no way to attach the pics here.

Firefox loads but does not display

1. When I double click the Firefox icon on my desktop the firefox.exe application loads (per the Task Manager) but it does not display. I have to use Task Manager to end the process. FF will usually display on the second try, but I often get a "this is embarrassing" message. This has been going on fore several months.
2. I don't know if this is related to the loading problem, but I frequently have to shut down & restart FF because some Bookmarks don't work when I click on them. Usually my Home Page icon at the top will work, but those in the Bookmark sidebar don't.

I am surprised that 17 other people have this problem and no one has any ideas.
Basically, I have had to abandon the use of Firefox and use IE ... is this a Microsoft conspiracy? I really like Firefox ... I am devastated.
