WebHelp stripping out form action

I have a form in my documentation where users may fill out questions, click a "Submit" button, and it is emailed to me. I remember testing this a few years ago and it worked great. Recently, someone contacted us to say he never heard back from his form. I then tested it, and it never was emailed to me. When I checked the HTML code, it's being stripped for some reason. I'm on the HTML tab, I type in the <form action="mailto..." > data. Then I click to the designer tab. When I click back to the HTML tab, it's gone! No sign of what I JUST typed! Here's the "naked" code:
</head>
<body>
<robohelp><form>
</robohelp>
<robohelp><div align=left></robohelp>
Where you see the <form>, I had just typed in the actual action part. It just disappears though. Further, the bottom part of the code, where the closing </form> tag is, that </form> disappears as well. I type it in, click off the tab, and get this:
<p><input type=submit name=submit value="Send to Us"><input type=reset name=reset value="Start Over"></p>
</body>
</html>
No </form> tag. Gone. I haven't even clicked Save or ANYTHING at this point. Any ideas why Robohelp would be stripping code like this? Much appreciated.

Hi there
By broken, I meant my crystal ball is broken (and sadly still is )
When you visited the forums to post, I'm guessing you missed seeing this link? If so, please click it and give it a once over. See if that illuminates my reaction.

  • How does one strip out all Live Cycle data from a PDF and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat?

    Someone in a different department built a bunch of forms in Live Cycle. We now need to make minor edits to these forms but we all have Macs and can't use Live Cycle. Currently our only option to change a date and a name on each form  is to buy a new Windows workstation, buy a copy of Live Cycle and train someone for it.
    I understand the Live Cycle technology and Acrobat technology for forms are somehow different but there must be a way to just strip out all the Live Cycle form programming so that I just have the bare PDF with the text and layout.  Then make the text edits and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat.

    It depends on your PDF. Is the PDF a static XFA or a dynamic XFA?
    You can check to see if the PDF is static/dynamic by clicking File=>Save As, and it should say static or dynamic PDF as file type.
    iText will work with Static XFA forms created in LiveCycle. Dynamic XFA forms are not supported.
    You can also submit XML data to a server side script and parse the XML data using C# system.xml.xmlreader.
    Another tool that may speed the development of the project is:
    http://www.fdftoolkit.net/
    Note: FDFToolkit.net utilizes iText Technologies.

  • Form Action Mailto email address specified in text box from the user filling out the form??

    I am very new to Dreamweaver and this is likely a very basic question, but never the less, I can't find the answer on Google or in the Help. I want the form below to always be e-mailed to [email protected] and also to the e-mail address supplied by the user filling out the form. The user supplied email address will be in the text box id "SalesEmail" listed below. How can I accomplish this? The user filling out the form would be my salesman, so they need the information, as do I.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Unable to get the "Submit a form" action working with Webmail: Gmail

    I am attempting to create interactive PDF forms for the website which the end user will email back once filled out.
    I have added a link to the form that runs the "Submit a form" action, this appears to work if you have a mail client installed, but if you specify Webmail "Gmail", the system appears to start the process with:
    First asking you for the email account details to add
    You are then asked to allow Adobe Acrobat permissions to your access your email account
    It then attempts to create a draft message but fails with:  "Error while creating message ..."
    NB: I have logged into my Gmail account on the client PC and I am able to send emails.
    Any ideas if this has a known problem and if a fix is available, without a fix it makes interactive PDF's a bit pointless?

  • Problems with file uploading servlet, the form action doesnt capture url

    Hi, i have one problem. I am working on a project , i have created a servlet that takes uploaded files and processses them and links them back to user to download. The servlet works perfectly from my computer, I am using apache-tomcat-6.0.16 and java 1.6 , I have two forms called encrypt.html and decrypt.html, I will post both of them, now the problem is when somebody access it on the internet while i am running apache, they get a connection was reset on a firefox browser and same stuff on Internet Explorer.
    i have checked my server logs and saw nothing unusual there, So please if you can help me, it is my project.
    I am pasting html file and error message that other users where getting remotely.
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=utf-8'>
    <title>Stego Form</title>
    <link rel='STYLESHEET' type='text/css' href='encrypt.css'>
    </head>
    <body>
    <center>
    <form name='encrypt' enctype='multipart/form-data' method='POST' action='http://localhost:8080/examples/temp2
    ' accept-charset='UTF-8'>
    <input type='hidden' name='sfm_form_submitted' value='yes'>

    </html>thank you for your prompt reply in advance,
    Regards,
    Mihir Pandya

    Hi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
    and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
    I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
    of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
    What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste
    File baseurl = (File)this.getServletContext().getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
    System.out.println(baseurl);
    baseurl = new File(baseurl.getAbsolutePath()+File.separator+"temp"+File.separator+"files");
    baseurl.mkdirs();so i am storing my files in that temp/files folder and the servlet processes them and modifies them, then how to present them as
    links to the user for download ?
    and as the servlet is multithreaded by nature, if my servlet gets 2 different requests with same file names, i guess one of them will be overwritten
    And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
    one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet
    Reply A.S.A.P. please..
    Thanks and regards,
    Mihir Pandya

    14.36 Referer
    The Referer[sic] request-header field allows the client to specify, for the server's benefit, the address (URI) of the resource from which the Request-URI was obtained (the "referrer", although the header field is misspelled.) The Referer request-header allows a server to generate lists of back-links to resources for interest, logging, optimized caching, etc. It also allows obsolete or mistyped links to be traced for maintenance. The Referer field MUST NOT be sent if the Request-URI was obtained from a source that does not have its own URI, such as input from the user keyboard.
    Referer = "Referer" ":" ( absoluteURI | relativeURI )

  • Coding for static fill-out form

    fill out form questionnaire?
    I am creating in Flash CS4 (AS3) a static fill out form for a website that I am involved in. The questionnaire helps to determine whether a person is suseptible to drug and alcohol abuse with either a postive answer (not likely to develop substance abuse) or a negative answer (likely to develop substance abuse)
    There are six questions on this form that MUST be answered either yes or no.
    I have created the form with all art and buttons and it is ready to implement in Dreamweaver but need the scripting to make work.
    The six YES buttons are assigned instance names of cb1, cb3, cb5, cb7, cb9 and cb11
    The six NO buttons are assigned instance names of cb2, cb4, cb6, cb8, cb10
    and cb12.
    When the participant answers all six questions either yes or no they will hit a Submit button (with an instance name of submit) that will direct them to a new web/flash page with appropriate answer.
    If the participant answers TWO or more questions with YES and hit submit they will be directed to a new page/doc in the website with the negative answer.
    If the participant answers ONE YES and hit submit they will be directed to a new page/doc in the website with a positive answer.
    If the participant answers ALL NO and hit submit they will be directed to a new page/doc in the website with the same positive answer as answering with ONE YES response.
    I assume this is a very complex coding problem. I am a beginner/intermidiate flash person with extreme novice understanding of coding. I know what stop(); does in AS3 and understand simple clickTag coding etc.
    Would appreciate any help with AS3 coding for this document.
    I usually find coding on forums like these and online blogs - but I don't even know where to begin looking.
    Thanks

  • Fill-out form

    How can I create a pdf fill-out form on my website so and have the user click a button so that the filled-out form can be emailed back to me?

    Here's one way: make a PDF file with your form fields. Make a Button and set the Mouse Up action to Submit a Form.
    In the Submit Form Selections, select the HTML radio button, then add the URL to a cgi script, plus "#FDF".
    For example: if you had a PHP file that parses incoming data, then sends it with mail(); you'd use "http://www.myurl.com/emailme.php#FDF".
    Then post your PDF file on your server.
    If you know PHP well, you can even have the PHP file return a "Content-Type: application/vnd.adobe.xfdf" header and send data back to the PDF file, which can be displayed in a PDF field.

  • Two form actions

    hello again. i did a search and found a thread where someone
    else asked if it was possible to have two form actions, but the
    person who responded didn't say it was impossible, just that they
    didn't need to.
    i think i need to have two actions, unless someone can tell
    me how to tell my formmail to also send the results to an ASP form
    processor on a different website.
    basically, my company started using a web-based lead
    management program, and they want the results to go there as well
    as the emails we get now. the website uses ASP to process the form,
    and they provide the url you need to post to, plus hidden fields
    you have to put in the form that tell it which account to post to.
    it seems like the easiest solution would be to have two
    actions on the form, but so far that doesn't appear to be possible,
    and i'm just wondering if anyone has done it before and can tell me
    how it's done.
    thanks!

    Would it be out of consideration to hire someone to do this
    for you?
    If not, then you would have to modify the formmail script to
    POST the form's
    data, including the additional values required, to the data
    processing
    script. On reflection, I'm not quite sure what would be the
    best way to do
    that - perhaps use the incoming POSTed data to populate form
    fields and then
    submit the populated form onload.

  • Is the form action will be called automatically if there is no SUBMIT

    Hi there,
    i have a JSP with form action set to an Action class. the form dont have any submits.
    when i call the JSP the action class and and ActionForm are fetching the data displaying it on the same JSP(as i required).
    i am new to struts. even after my application working i have doubt, when i call the JSP how the action is getting called and Form populating the data with out any submit on the form
    Thanks
    R

    yes , you are right , my JSP has beans and forms and action class set up in
    strut-config.xml.you say that so the strut-config.xml parsed and on server side and without submit the action class will be called
    right?
    can you point me to any document(particular to this concept)please?

  • Stripping out dashes from variable

    I have a jsp page that dynamically build a list of select boxes based on information out of a record set. As I build the select box I am including an onChange function that submits the form once the user selects something from the drop down list. Basically it looks like this: out.println("<select class='select' name='"+selectName+"' onChange='document."+formName+".submit();'>");
    Az you can see the select name and formname are also dynamically added based on the record set return. My problem is in the database there are dashes in some of the data so I am getting something that looks like this in my resulting html: select class='select' name='A-10' onChange='document.A-10.submit();'>");
    This dash is causing the onChange to not work so I need a way to strip out the dash so that the results would be A10 as apposed to A-10
    Any thoughts??
    p.s. This is how I filling the variable:
    String selectName = request.getParameter("name");
    String formName = request.getParameter("DataSet");

    first of all, I dont understand why you use multiple forms on one page, but thats just me. Second, you can use
    documents.forms[0].submit() to avoid the names. So just loop through your forms and use
    out.println("document.forms[" + i + "].submit()");

    I am not very familiar with the use of forms and actions, and I am trying to set up a page with a login section which will not be in use immediately. Therefore, just incase anyone tries to login, I want an error page to appear after they hit the login button.
    Can someone help me with how to do this please?
    Thanks a million for your help (in advance)
    Steph

    Typically, the form action is a url to a page with a server side script that processes the form contents. If you simply want an error page to display for now, just create the error page and use that (including the entire path) in the form action.

  • R12 adpatch sorts out which actions in unified driver?

    Hi,
    This is regarding Patching in R12.
    I have read in the documentation "Oracle Application Patching Procedures" on p 5-14 which says
    "Apply the unified driver to all APPL_TOPs, and AutoPatch sorts out which actions in
    the unified driver are required for the current APPL_TOP."
    Is this means that if nodes are:
    I) DB & CM
    II) Web & Forms.
    - the adpatch should not apply any forms on first node.
    - and should not apply any reports on seconde node.
    But in my case it is not doing like that.
    Question: How can i ask adpatch to skip applying forms(fmx) files on I node and reports on II node?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to R12 Documentation, adpatch should handle it (form should be generated on form node and reports on reports node).Correct, but you should end up with the same files placed on each application tier (this is the concept of unified APPL_TOP which make it easier to run the application services from any of the application tier nodes when the other node is down.
    I think posting log files will not be efficient because the files are very big. I do not see the attachment option here.I believe you do not have to.
    DB & CM:
    $ more $CONTEXT_FILE | grep TIER

    I think here is the problem but not sure how it shows YES for all the nodes.
    I am sure we selected different services for different node while installing.Is this a shared APPL_TOP or shared application tier file system? If yes, then you need to fix the values in the context file as these context values represent the services that are actually running on the node -- See (Note: 745580.1 - Apply Patches in a Shared Application Tier File System Environment) for details.
    Why oracle has removed this feature from R12 where it was a good option in 11i?What feature? The option of generating Oracle forms and libraries is still available and can be run from adadmin.
    Maintaining Oracle Applications Documentation Set
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_03/current/html/docset.html
    But still the documentation says adpatch will sort out which actions to be performed on which node? what this meansI believe this means that adpatch knows what file has to be run on each node. For example, when running certain scripts adpatch is aware of where those scripts should be run.

    You cannot.
    By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

  • FF 29.0.1 bug - filled-out-forms

    Hi, ever since I started using Firefox, I'd often have tabs already-open with already-filled-out-forms that would, every single day without fail, have my data retained (I'd fill out the form, hit the Back button, and the data would still be seen in the form. Every morning, I'd open the same tabs with the same data and the tabs would have my data prepopulated in the forms as I left it the day before). This was very important because I do some activity every morning and don't want to have to fill out my forms on a daily basis.
    The 29.0.1 upgrade this weekend broke the preservation of this data. Now, I have to manually fill out the forms again. I do like the UI and UX upgrades, but why is it that this critical "feature" to me has been removed? The preservation of data was a paramount part of the Firefox experience for me.
    If this is intended behavior, I'd like to hear it. If this is not intended behavior, I look forward to 29.0.2 fixing the issue. It was never a problem in versions 15+ up until 29.0, but 29.0.1 is a game changer for me.
    (And by the way, I know there are ways around it, but having to manually click on autocomplete buttons or use form filler tools defeats the purpose of this already existing up until this version.)

    tamarsaw, <br />Yes. That or something similar is easy to do. I can understand you would rather just use Firefox than have to try troubleshooting it but the effort and results should pay off in the longer term.
    It is just a matter of transferring and overwriting files in the new profile. It is also possibly worth keeping backup copies maybe put a spare copy somewhere safe such as the Desktop or Documents.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox#Suggested_profile_contents_to_transfer
    Remember you could for instance have the current profile retained for historic reasons. A totally clean profle for testing purposes, and a clean profile but with current open tabs and history/bookmarks.
    The new sync is worth using that will keep backups on a server. However it has sometimes been unreliable and troublesome in the past it would be wise not to become over-reliant and rely on it totally for anything very important. When you start Firefox from the profile manager you choose the profile to use. Or you have icons/shortcuts that use specific profiles

    <u>Open Tabs</u>
    The recently opened tabs can be kept. That is the file '''''sessionstore.js'''''
    * see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sessionstore.js
    Firefox does itself try to keep a backup copy of those sometimes but the system may not always be 100% reliable.
    <u>History</u>
    This is kept in the same database as the Bookmarks. The file is '''''places'sqlite''''' The bookmarks do have separate backups even without you making manual bookmarks. The History does not have backups.
    * see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Places.sqlite
    <u>Sync & Firefox Accounts (FxA)</u>
    The new Firefox Accounts from Firefox29 will backup opentabs and History to the server, AND allow you to use those backups even if you only have a single machine or even stop using one machine and register another single machine. The old sync was not designed to be used as a backup or with single devices.
