Webhelp with no project files

I just started with a company and inherited a Webhelp system
with no project file (.hhp or .mpj?) How do I import this, or open
it, in RoboHelp? When I import it into any other Help Authoring
Tool, the 1300 javascript popup text boxes get imported as topics.
I guess the question is: how do I work with Webhelp files when I
don't have a project file?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
I would look very hard for the source. On your predecessor's
PC if that is still around? Backups?

  • How do I save Icon templates with the Project files?

My project files are stored in a folder, say, "My Documents\LabVIEW\My Project", and this folder, in turn, is saved under (Sub)Version Control.  I'd like to include a sub-folder called "Icon Templates" that could contain the icon templates I'm using in this project, but they seem to be "forced" into "My Documents\LabVIEW Data\Icon Templates" (almost the same, but the "owning folder" is different).
Is there any way to change, preferably on a Project-by-Project basis, the default location for Icon Editor templates?  I tried to figure this out, and saw that one could change where "3rd Party" templates were stored, but that didn't seem to do anything (maybe because I don't understand the concept of a "3rd Party"?).
An important (to me!) reason to accomplish this is that I want to commit my new icons when I commit the rest of the Project, and have them appear when I checkout the project on another machine (or do an update from the Repository).
    Suggestions welcomed ...

Well, I thought of this as well.  I did change Default Data Documents (which seems to be where Icon Editor expects to find its Templates file) to My Documents\LabVIEW (instead of LabVIEW Data), and that worked (sort of).  But that still doesn't solve my problem.  I have multiple projects -- My Docs\LabVIEW\Project 1, say, and My Docs\LabVIEW\Project 2, and want to have a specific set of icon templates for each stored, say, as Project 1\Icon Templates and Project 2\Icon Templates.
My problem is two-fold.  First, there is a setting in Icon Editors, Tools, that seems to be designed to let you designate where your "special" templates are located, which I've set to, for example, My Docs\LabVIEW\Project 1\Icon Templates.  However, when using the Icon editor, these templates never appear!  It's as though it's still "locked" into the "3rd Party" sub-folder of the parent Icon Templates folder.  Second, even if this worked (which it doesn't), is there a way to "embed" this setting as part of Project so that the settings "stay with the Project" (and can thereby be customized)?  One important reason to do this is to simplify organizing Projects and folders on disk -- I keep them "together" (use the same structure for both, so a Project is contained, on disk, inside a single set of nested folders), which greatly simplifies and facilitates using Version Control to manage development.
Thanks for the reference.  I didn't know about all of the symbolic names.  It does appear that they are only used in the VI Search Path entry, correct?

  • How to open V1 files in V2 with no project file

I have an swf output file from a tutorial created in
Captivate version 1. I have no project file, so when I opened V2,
and tried to import the swf as an animation, I receive an error
that it is looking for something called 'root'. I have a link from
my Robohelp project file to these captivate 1 tutorials and nothing
happens when you click on the looks, the tutorials are not
launching. So, I thought I would try to republish these tutorials
in v2, to see if that was the problem.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Teresa
First off, a major change occurred between Captivate 1 and
Captivate 2. I've attempted to describe how to work with these and
    RoboHelp at
    the
link you see by clicking here.
Secondly, don't sweat the "root" message. It's a red herring.

  • How do I revert to replaced audio files being saved with the project file, *not* with the original audio files?

In the latest release, when you send an audio clip to Audition, the newly created audio clip - which was previously saved in the same folder as the project file - is saved next to the original audio file.
Makes sense, but for reasons to boring to go into, it's a major headache for my workflow, because it means combing through folders to find the files, instead of having them all in once place.
So how to I turn this off and revert to those files being saved next to the project file?

    Hey Steve,
You'll want to connect your phone to your computer and sync it in iTunes. You can read more about it here:

  • Cs5 is asking me to find all media associated with a project file imported from FCP BY HAND.

Please tell me there is a way around this.
I have an XML file that was exported from FCP and I'm importing it  into CS5. I have the drive with all of the media on it. I load up the XML and CS5 is asking me to find every single piece of media involved with the project by hand on the drive. THis is insane and will take me hours. Why will it not locate it itself? Please someone tell me there's a way to let it search throught he folders on its own.

Repeating some of what has been stated here....
What PPro is looking for is the assets in the same directory structure as when the XML file was created from FCP. So let's say that as you were about to save the XML file from FCP, you had all the assets on 1 single drive. Some were in Folder A, some where in Folder B, some in Folder A-1 (a subfolder of A) and some in Folder B-1 (subfolder of B). As long as the files remained in roughly that same folder structure in relation to one another, PPro should be able to find all the other assets AFTER you've found the first one.
With all the translation if you go from a Mac to a PC system, there's a lot of chance there that the directory structure - even if you kept it basically all intact - could still be messed up. Once the XML is loaded into PPro, however, you should be able to select multiple offline clips in the project folder, choose "Link Media" and have PPro go through and (hopefully) find everything automagically. If not, the Finder button in the "Link Media" dialog box should help.
PPro doesn't really care specifically about folders and subfolders when relinking, it is just looking for the RELATIONAL structure based on the last time the assets were ONLINE in the project. So even if your original assets were in 1,400 different folders, it shouldn't require you to relink based on each individual folder, so long as the RELATIONSHIP between all the files and folders remained the same.
Hopefully that makes sense. I know when I work with FCP editors the footage is generally handed to me on a drive with all the assets being essentially in a very different relationship than when they were on their FCP projects (since they usually are going from multiple drives on their Mac to the single drive that they hand me with the project assets). So I'm usually required to manually relink all the assets anyway. Kind of a bummer, but thankfully most projects are limited to only about 100 assets or so, and filenames are generally unique.
    Good luck!

  • Problem with opening project file from my friend

My friend save his project and gave me it on CD. Of course he gave me all needed files like source videos. It's videos from the same type of DSLR clips which I also have. So I making my own movies also with clips in this codes or similar. My DSLR is Canon 600D but DSLR of my friend is Canon 550D - clips from his DSLR are of course also written form my system. So everything seems to be OK.
Now i try to open this project in my PC but it doesn't work at all. I can see only this message:
My friend work on CS 5 but I work on CS 6. I don't believe that Adobe Premiere Pro can't open a older type of his project files. Please help.

    Mark Mapes wrote:
What do you know about the sequence preset your friend used?
Sequence preset? I don't know anything. But I think that is unneceserry even to know. Because why sequence preset can be important? Preset is only a preset. So I can't see any reason preset was a main problem with it.

  • Scripting problems with upgraded project file

    Hello,
I hope someone can offer a bit of help on this one. I have a v3 project file that I upgrade to v4. I decided to add a "return to menu" script to this project file. 3 scripts to set GPRM 0 mov to 0,1,2 for three different menus. And a final Jump script to Jump to Menu 1 if GPRM 0=0, Jump to Menu 2 if GPRM 0=1, Jump to Menu 3 if GPRM 0=2.
This doesn't work - won't work in simulator nor on a build. I suspect that the culprit is the upgraded project file. I made a new v4 project file and replicated these same exact scripts and behold! It works!
So I figured out that it's the upgrade project file that is the reason why these scripts won't work! Very disappointing.
But now, what can I do short of rebuilding this project all the way from scratch?!?
It's too bad you can't open 2 projects and copy and paste from one into another.
    Using DVDSP 4.0.3
    Dual 2 ghz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

If you'd like to strip out the project assets (video and audio) and use .pict images as place holders instead, then send me the file (with the place holders), I'll happily take a look at it for you. It should be working fine, and I suspect there is something small we have both overlooked.
There are no real issues with projects from v3 going on to v4 where scripting is concerned - the scripts are identical. There will be something else going on here...
Just to be sure your scripts are:
    mov GPRM1, 0
Jump MainMenu // your actual menu name is here
    then
    mov GPRM1, 1
Jump SceneSelection1 // again, your actual menu name is in here
    and
    mov GPRM1, 2
Jump SceneSelection2 // and again for the menu name
    Then your final script reads:
    Jump MainMenu If(GPRM1 = 0)
    Jump SceneSelection1 If (GPRM1 = 1)
    Jump SceneSelection2 If(GPRM1 = 2)
The first script is the start up item for the disc, the second and third scripts are set as targets for buttons on the main menu (which means the script is run before the footage plays) - the last script is set as the menu call and end jump for the track.
You are sure that you are correctly re-setting the GPRM each time you move between menus?
If this simple scripting system isn't working then there is going to be a reason for it besides the upgrade... send me the file, I'll have a look. Alternatively, have a look here for downloadable stuff, and find the zip archive called 'Chi-Ho Lee', which is a simplified PAL version of how I think you should have this set up.

  • Embeding Video/Audio with a Premiere Pro Project File

Can anyone tell me how you can Embed your video/audio files with a Premeire Pro CS6 project file?  Copying all the original footage from your specific project and placing it into a folder with the project file? Thanks alot.
    Brandon C.

You can't.  The only asset from a PP project that can be embedded into the project file are PP generated titles.  Everything else will always be a separate file on the hard drive.
As for copying those separate files to a single location, I personally recommend using the proper tool for the job.  File management should always be done using a file manager, like Windows Explorer or Finder.

  • Is there a maximum project file size?

I am currently working on a project and the latest project file version I saved had about 922 KB - Premiere wouldn't want to open that again - it keeps crashing when I try to open it
Then I opened up a new project - imported just that sequence I was working on and suddenly it works again with a project file size of 238 KB
I have no idea what the reason for those crashes might be so I was wondering if there is such thing as a maximum project file size premiere can handle?

    Welcome to our community
There really shouldn't be any load limitations other than those imposed by the Captivate files themselves. My guess is that you plan on using WebHelp, no? And if you are, the Captivate demos will be loaded as needed from the server. So the only lag you will see is the delay for what it takes for the server to serve up the demo itself.
Hopefully this answers your question. If not, post back and we will take another stab at it.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Help needed ASAP -- Project file won't open

Stuck in Africa right now (can't call telephone support).
I am volunteering on a medical/dental trip and am in charge of the final nights video.
    Here is the problem.
I am almost done with the video (15 minutes long -- full HD) and suddenly the when I click on the project from the project library it won't open.
all the other projects open fine. Just this one project won't.
when I click on it, the project library slides to the side, but behind it is another project library, but when I mouse over it plays the movie, but it is un-editable in this state.
It was working great until this dreadful moment....
I saw another post about deleting the thumbnails for an EVENT that was having problems. Can this be done with a PROJECT file?
The big movie presentation/trip is in 12 hours....
    Can anyone help me???

One time, after quitting IM and re-launching it later, my project disappeared from the project list.
Apple Support told me to do this.
    1) quit IM
    2) with the finder, move the project out of the project directory
    3) launch IM
    4) quit IM
    5) with the finder, put the project back into the project directory
    6) launch IM
My project re-appeared. He said these steps forces a project index to be rebuilt.
Your symptoms are different but maybe the cure is the same --- good luck.

  • Would working from a locked project file cause problems?

    Hi all.
    working in FCP 4.5 on numerous Dual G5s (2.0 & 1.8 GHz) with sufficient RAM (4 GB+).
I'm working on a large project with a number of editors and I've created projects that each editor can use as references to the material. I lock the reference projects so that if they inadvertantly make changes to them, they will be reminded that the changes will be lost when they close out of the project. A theory has arisen that we are seeing performance degredation due to conflicts with Autosave. By performance degredation, I mean that responsiveness decreases, and an occasional crash occurs. I'm just wondering if the concern is valid. I'm just wondering if the concern is valid. My feeling is that it's too intermittent to be autosave's fault. Has anyone come across this?
    thanks,
    jack

nothing is written to the project file between saves, so it seems unlikely that your issues are related to their lock status. autosave only requires that a project has a pre-existing project file in order to work, so again, the issue would sem to be unrelated
... ok, so much for logic. the real resolution is likely only to come with be some controlled trial and error. see how you get on with unlocked project files and see if the performance issues disappear.

  • Newbie, what to with the project after it's finished?

total newbie here... I just finished my first DVD using FCE. Once you're done, what do you do with the project file and all the associated files?
Is there a way to have everything archived into one folder (i.e., like InDesign's "Pre Flight" and "Package" features)?
What happens if my source files are in different places on my computer, and after I archive it, I open it? Won't the mapping to the files be off, FCE can't locate them?
    PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

My back-up methods for FCE projects:
    1) I blow up all my Capture Scratch clips. I save the original DV footage, and since I am careful about my reel numbers, I can re-capture it later
    2) I copy all my other media: music, Photoshop files, LT projs, etc onto a DVD.
    3) On the DVD I also store my FCE project file and my iDVD project file if I have one. Also include any drop zone movies I may have made .. sometimes this eats up a couple DVDs
Once I have all this, I can easily re-create the projects through Capture Project in FCE or by loading up the iDVD project
I also record the Timeline of the FCE project to DV tape, to make copies, etc
Also nice to save a Disk Image of your iDVD project, for later copies
