Webi report deployment in Quality environment

Hi
We are on BW 7.3 version and designed Webi reports on top of BEx in development environment.
I want to deploy Webi report from Development to Quality.
Pls let us know the procedure of deployment in BO.

In IIS you should modify in web.config for normal InfoView Timeouts. However, if your reports or documents take more than 90s to refresh, you should also modify the ASP execution timeout and .NET execution timeout.

Error while previewing webi reports

Hi experts,
We are getting u201CNot a valid logon token. (FWB 00003)u201D error from our XI 3.1 Infoview only if we try to view any webi report from our production environment.
What can be possible cause behind getting this error message?

Hi,
Did you restart the Web Intelligence Report servers so they generate a new server logon token?
CMS prematurely deletes all Webi server's server logon token after it crashes.
This issue is being tracked as Problem Report .

Context Menu not working in Web Reports

We are on BI 7.0 (ABAP stack only). I am unable to see context menu for 3.X web reports in 7.0 environment when we have "Only Hierarchy Navigation" property checked in web tenplates (WAD 3.X). Where as in production, on 3.0B system (not upgraded) when we have "Only Hierarchy Navigation" property checked in web template i am able to see context menu on header row of the reports. Not sure what i am missing?

Deploying BO universes and webi reports in quality and production

Hi
We are on BO XIR2 SP5 and reporting on SAP BI Infocubes and Queries.
We have 3 environments setup,each for development,quality and production.
During universe development,while creating a new connection we provide the IP address of application server,username ,password,system id,client number etc details.
The above details would defer for 3 different environments.In our case we have built around 50 universes.
So what would be the smart way of deploying these universes in each of the other 2 environments?Because changing universe connection details would mean re creating the universe classes and objects which would be a huge effort.Would the webi reports continue to work upon re creating the universe with new connection details?
Please suggest a best and smart practice for the above scenario.

Using Import Wizard tool in BO you can migrate Universe and Reports from dev env to test.
Using the Import Wizard tool you can migrate the reports.
Steps are as follows:
Open Import window:
In Source environment , enter the details of dev environment.
Destination wizard you have to enter Test env credentials.
Then you have to select all the universe and the wid files from this wizard (The files you want to transfer ).
Finally finish this wizard by pressing finish button.........

Hi,
To use the Import Wizard utility, you basically need Administrator, Full Control to Top-level folder, and "Add objects to the folder" and "Edit objects" for this user on the root folder.
You need the least restrictive role, because you require absolute control for content promotion between 2 entitlement systems.
the webi document is the cherry on-top, you;ll have universes, connections, folders to bring over too.

Web Reports may be deployed to Internet?

Hi, all.
I know that Web Reports may be deployed to Intranets. However, I don't know if they may be deployed as part of Internet (Developer 6i) applications. Is it possible?
If so, is there any special requirements for the client machine (beyond a browser with JInitiator)?

let me first clarify something. For report alone the client need only a browser and -depending on your utilization of PDF- a PDF-Viewer plugin.
JInitiator is only used for forms-applications to replace the browser JVM with a more recent one, that can run the applets produced by the forms-server.

Unable to save the webi report results in CSV file in XIR2 environment

Hi Team,
We have one WebI report in BOXIR2 version and it fetching nearly 76+ records in the report. The report is running fine without any issues and when i am trying to export the results into CSV file we are getting the error msg (Maximum Binary file size exceeded WIS30271). The file size is more than 80MB and hence it throwing this error. I have checked the Maximun Binary File size that is set in CMC and it is set to 80MB.
When i ran the same query in the database and exporting the results in to csv file the file size is under 80MB. I would like to know the reason why there is a difference in the file size when running the query manually in database and exporting in to csv file and to export the results set in to csv through business objects.

Below are the possible causes to get this error message:
1] When a large Web Intelligence report is exported to CSV format, we get error: Max Binary file size limit exceeded. The document is too large to be processed by the server. Error WIS 30271
Cause
This error message appears because BusinessObjects Enterprise allows documents to be saved with the limit specified for Web Intelligence Report server settings in the Central Management Console(CMC).
To resolve the error follow the below steps:
- Login to Central Management Console (CMC) using BusinessObjects Enterprise "Administrator".
- Navigate to "Home >> Servers".
- Click on "Web Intelligence Report Server" to open its properties.
- Increase the "Maximum Binary File Size"(Default value=50 MBytes; Maximum value = 65535 MBytes).
- Click on "Apply" and then on "Update".
- Allow the Web Intelligence server to restart.
2] In Web Intelligence, when attempting to save a report to Excel or Portable Document Format (PDF), the following error message appears:
"Max binary file size limit exceeded. The document is too large to be processed by the server. Contact your database administrator. (Error: WIS 30271)".
Cause:
This error message appears because Business Objects Enterprise allows documents to be saved up to the limit set for Web Intelligence Report Server in the Central Management Console (CMC). The default file size limit is 50 megabytes for binary file types like PDF and Excel.
To resolve this error message, you will need to increase the Max Binary file size value.
1.      Open the CMC.
2.      Browse to Servers
3.      Click on your Web Intelligence Report Server.
4.      On the Properties page, increase the Maximum Binary File Size.
5.      Apply the setting and allow the Web Intelligence Report Server to restart.
Increasing these values too high could impact Web Intelligence performance when users attempt to save excessively large files.

Webi report: Issue Cannot retrieve dimensions from Cube

Hello Experts, We're facing an issue with a partical set of Webi reports in Quality environment. The reports are BW reports based on OLAP BICS connectivity on top of Bex queries.y Below is the scenario and the issue: 1. The backed Bex queries have been trasported to Quality BW system and they're running fine when run from RSRT or Bex analyzer. 2.The Webi reports along with the BICS connections have been migrated to the Quality box and the BICS connections have been editied so that they point to the Quality BOX bex queries and they're testing and responding to the connection successfully. 3. The Webi reports pointed to the Dev Box in the Dev BOBJ system are working fine, but when the same reports for which the connections were repointed in Quality as above, are giving the error "Cannot Retrieve Dimensions from Cube". Steps taken: a. Deleted the reports and the BICS connection from Quality environment and remigrated the reports,connecitons and changed the connecitons but still the issue persists. b.Tried finding the root cause and got the following issue in the Bex query in Quality: There are filters put in the Bex query . All other filters are working fine except 0CALMONTH. We tried putting all sorts of variables on 0CALMONTH, but the moment a variable is put on 0CALMONTH, this issue occurs. But when we tried removing the variable from 0CALMONTH in filters and restricted it to a single value, the Report works fine. However the same is not an issue in the Dev Box and all queries with similar variables are working fine. So we're thinking this might be an issue on the BW backend and the cube might have to be transported again to the Quality Box. ANy quick suggestions or inputs on this would be greatly appreciated. Error in webi report - ORA-06502

Dear All,
I have create an object in Universe "description" , I am using this object in WEBI report.
When I run the WEBI report I am getting below error:
Database error occurred :the databasr error text is ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at line 1 . (Error: WIS 10901)
This object is working fine in Dev and Quality.
But it is getting above error in the Prod environment in WEBI report.
Actually i think its this "description" object which is the reason
dbms_lob.substr( xyz.DESCRIPTION, 4000, 1 )
Any help is highly appreciated

Web Report not working with parameter form

Hi,
I have a report which has got a parameter form. This report is
running fine in client/server environment. But when I deploy the
same report on web (CGI) using PARAMFORM=YES, I am getting the
parameter form and after pressing the SUBMIT button I am getting
a blank report under the following two cases even though I have
data for that query:
CASE1: <input type="hidden" name="desformat" value="html">
then I am getting the report with no data retrieved.
CASE2: <input type="hidden" name="desformat" value="pdf">
then I am getting completely blank report (no logo, no column
titles, etc.)
See the HTML code below. Remember, the same thing is running
fine in client/server environment. Moreover, if I make a HTML-
coded form for the report then everything on the client's
browser is running fine. But this is not what we want, 'coz we
are running the "BEFORE PARAMETER FORM" trigger in the report.
So, should I conclude that web-reports does not work with the
parameter forms?? Is it a bug???

No pal, that's not the problem. The problem lies with the
"BEFORE PARAMETER FORM" report trigger on the web. Check this

Modify Webi Report causes Java Plug-In Fatal Error

Java loaded: Java 1.6.0_07 + JRE 1.4.2_04 + JInitiator 1.3.1.24

I have been happily developing Webi reports on my PC for several years and to my knowledge, I have not upgraded my Java software even when I get prompted by Java that updates are available as I know how problematic upgrading can be if it is not supported by BO.
I am suddenly getting a Java Plug-In Fatal Error every time I try to modify a Webi report with the message " The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded".
We have uninstalled Java and re-installed the same Java versions but stil the same problem.
Any help appreciated.

I remember having some issues running Java 1.6.0_xx on BOXI R2 and made sure we were on Java 1.4.2_xx.
Another thing you might want to try before uninstalling is to clear the Java cache, it can be found under...
local install drive\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
If you also haven't already done so, I'd reload the current Java version (after your uninstall) directly from the server by trying to create or modify a new WEBI report.

Where to put jsp web report files on Oracle reports server/ Oracle AS

Dear All,
I am trying to deploy my Oracle web reports on Oracle Reports Server 10g.
I have designed a sample web application for the same and deployed it on Oracle Application Server.
What is given in the online help:
Transfer the report file ( RDF, REP, XML, or JSP) and its associated files (for example, PLL, PLX or referenced images) to the deployment directory on your application server.
Ensure the directory on the application server where you've transferred the file is listed in the Reports Server access path. If it is not, use the REPORTS_PATH environment variable, or set the sourceDir property of the Reports engine element in the server configuration file.
Now few questions:
What is the case if Application server and Reports server are different?
The reports files are to be put on Oracle AS or Oracle Reports server? In my case both are same.
1. I have tried to put the JSP files in the folder where index.html of web application is located. But it wont work and gives some error. The tld related jar is placed in the WEB-INF\lib directory.
2. I also tried to put it in a folder and referred that folder by creating an environment variable REPORTS_PATH over Reports server. But Reports server wont find it.
Please guide me in this issue.

How to remove blank pages from WebI Report in view page layout option

Hi,
I am working in Business Objects XIR2 environment. I have a WebI report with several sections. I need to show the report as a book with 69 sections (each section on new page). there are 69 sections on cost center and each cost center section has almost 10 sections embedded in it. When i see in regular view - I only see 69 pages but when I try to see in "View Page Lay out" option, there is one blank page added after each results page.
Please let me know how to remove this blank page. I need to give users the option to download the book as PDF on to their machine. Now, when I download to my machine, I see one blank page after each results page.

Jus convert your report in Page Layout mode and see if your first pafe is getting expand in the second page.
Now check if there are any cell going into second page.
- if there are any blank cell which is there after table.
