Webi report: Issue Cannot retrieve dimensions from Cube

Hello Experts, We're facing an issue with a partical set of Webi reports in Quality environment. The reports are BW reports based on OLAP BICS connectivity on top of Bex queries.y Below is the scenario and the issue: 1. The backed Bex queries have been trasported to Quality BW system and they're running fine when run from RSRT or Bex analyzer. 2.The Webi reports along with the BICS connections have been migrated to the Quality box and the BICS connections have been editied so that they point to the Quality BOX bex queries and they're testing and responding to the connection successfully. 3. The Webi reports pointed to the Dev Box in the Dev BOBJ system are working fine, but when the same reports for which the connections were repointed in Quality as above, are giving the error "Cannot Retrieve Dimensions from Cube". Steps taken: a. Deleted the reports and the BICS connection from Quality environment and remigrated the reports,connecitons and changed the connecitons but still the issue persists. b.Tried finding the root cause and got the following issue in the Bex query in Quality: There are filters put in the Bex query . All other filters are working fine except 0CALMONTH. We tried putting all sorts of variables on 0CALMONTH, but the moment a variable is put on 0CALMONTH, this issue occurs. But when we tried removing the variable from 0CALMONTH in filters and restricted it to a single value, the Report works fine. However the same is not an issue in the Dev Box and all queries with similar variables are working fine. So we're thinking this might be an issue on the BW backend and the cube might have to be transported again to the Quality Box. ANy quick suggestions or inputs on this would be greatly appreciated. Cannot retrieve photos from external hard drive

I had to upgrade my OS so that i could download the newest version of adobe photoshop. this upgrade also upgraded my iPhoto and erasing all photos. I do have photos backed up on external hard drive but cannot retrieve photos from the external hard drive.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Cannot Retrieve Page From Server

This is driving me nutso
This is robohelp server 7.
When trying to publish our test site, we're getting the error that I've attached.
Basically, it says: cannot retrieve page from server...status:500
I can browse to the site. Just can't get robo to publish.
Is it a permission problem...a service not running...something else?

Out of curiosity, why did you choose to attach the image as opposed to using the Camera icon to insert it inline?

Cannot retrieve files from Time Machine.

I cannot retrieve files from Time Machine. I can enter it, but the arrows don't seem to function and when I click on a date/time, nothing happens.

I don't know what you mean by "arrows". After Entering TM, put your pointer over one of the coloured (usually purple) dated bars at the right of the screen. That will bring (usually the desktop) for that date to the front. Navigate in the usual way to find the old file, select it, and press the big Restore button on the bottom left of your screen. As I remember it, a copy of that file will appear beside the current original with something like "Restored" added to is title. When you quit TM (Cancel) that restored file should appear beside its current version. (Or, if it's host folder has been deleted, smewhere else but I can't remember where - search for it.)

Error while running Webi report that uses Custom Dimension object(SAP BW)

I have a universe that is based on SAP BW.I have created a custom dimension object that displays the maximum date.
The object syntax is
<expression>Max(@Select(CPS Online\Calendar day))</expression>
The object parses successfully.
The object 'Calendar Day ' is a defaultobject created during universe creation from the BW query.It is defined as [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]
I tried to create a Webi report using this object and a measure .On running the query it throws the following error:
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query WITH MEMBER [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22] AS ' Max{[0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]} ' SELECT { [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22], [Measures].[4JCOSFOKKCUR3RMBPNROFKQQD] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS DIMENSION PROPERTIES [0CALDAY].[20CALDAY] ON ROWS FROM [ZCCPSONL/ZCPSONLINE] failed to execute with the error Invalid MDX command with (. (WIS 10901)
I have tried every possible syntax I could think of but I keep getting this error each time.I have set the object type to Number (even though it is actually a Date), I have tried writing the MDX inside the Max instead of the @select , but nothing seems to work.Could anyone please let me know why this error is occuring?Is there anything wrong with the syntax or is there any setting in Webi needed before a custom dimension object can be used on it.

YES, then just try to re-create the same variable and Save the BW query.
Now do View - refresh Strusture @ Universe. And you can see Filter for the same, just Parse it, just whether it is OK or not.
OK -- then Export the Universe and create WebI reports, this will come as Prompt.

WebI report throwing error when migrated from XIR2 to XI3.1

I have some webi reports built in BO XIR2 on OLAP universes (SAP BW3.5 based). Recently I have migrated the reports from old XIR2 environment to a new XI3.1 environment.
The specification of new system is as below:
BO XI3.1
SAP BW 3.5
No SP and FP is installed. (Actually when I tried to install the SP2, it failed)
After the migration, some of my reports are running for 5 minutes and then throwing an error like below:
A database error occured. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details. (WIS 10901).
The same report is working fine in old system.
Has anyone faced this problem yet?

The transports are already imported.
What I can see is if there is a query with only dimension objects and no measure, then that is throwing error in XI3.1. But the same query is running fine in XIR2.
Any Idea?

Crystal Reports - Failed to retrieve data from the database

Hi There,
I'm hoping that somebody can help me.
I've developed a crystal report from a stored procedure which I wrote. I can execute the stored procedure within SQL Server and within the Crystal Reports designer without any errors. Furthermore, I have imported the report into sap and can run it within SAP from the server without any errors. SAP version 8.81 PL5
The issue is that when it's run from a client machine, I get the following error: "Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: Database Vendor Code: 156. Error in the File RCR10010 {tempfile location}
Here's a list of things which I have tried, all to no avail:
- Checked user permissions to ensure that they have proper authorizations
- Re-set the datasource connection and re-imported the report to SAP.
- Exported the report and reviewed the datasource connection and re-imported to SAP.
- Tried to run the report on multiple machines to ensure that it's not machine specific
- Tried to run the report using different users to ensure it's not user specific.
- Tested other reports built from stored procedures on client machines to ensure that they work.
Any assistance in this would be GREATLY appreciated.

After further testing, we found that the report could be run within SAP on any work station which had the CR designer installed on it.
As it turns out, the procedure which I wrote has temp tables in it. The runtimes built into the SAP client install do not support creating temp tables when executing the report from within SAP. Which is why the report could not retreive data.
To work around this, I installed external runtimes which were the same version of the Crystal Report and now the report can be run within SAP from any workstation which has the external runtimes (and not just the runtimes within the SAP client).
I hope this makes sense.

Webi Reports failing -Cannot execute empty query

Intermittent problem affecting all Webi reports in the SAP BI system .
This affects all Release 1 and Release 2 Webi reports
When the user tries to run the report, an error message appears with the message "Cannot execute empty query. (QTJ00521)"
User can close the report and try to run it again - the report may execute properly the second time.
This problem started in production at R2 go live. It is affecting both R1 and R2 webi reports.
It cannot be reproduced in lower environments.

Check attached SAP note if this is relevant for your issue.As per this SAP note this happens when query stripping option is checked.If this is checked then uncheck and try.

Webi report issue(BO Infoview)

Hi Gurus,
I created a webi report in BO infoview using an universe. But when I run the report it does not display any data , it shows only blue and yellow color table in the report display panel. Any help I would appreciate it.

It appears to be a java version issue:

Crstal Reports: "Failed to retrieve data from the database"

Running a report in crystal report from SAP 8.81 using the following parameters: CardCode, GroupCode, Date gives the following error: "Failed to retrieve data from the database" "Conversion failed when to converting the nvarchar value to data type int 12/31/2005 [Database vendor code: 245] ".
The store procedure in SQL Server executes smoothly and If you run the report with the date = 12/31/2005 in the parameter also returns expected results.

It could simply be you need to use a formula to convert the field. Click on the Formula Editor and the hit the F1 key and search on "date". Lots of info on how to convert todate and from date tostring...

Define a join in Webi Report which gets the data from two Excel files

I have the following excel records as a source for my Webi Report:

No. Of Exec
Functional

Now I need to show No. of executions/Total Number of Days in Month per functional area (Where Month of Excel 1 is Month of Excel 2).
For this:
I have Merged, Month of Excel 1 and Month of Excel 2, Year of Excel 1 and Year of Excel 2.
Created a variable vNoofExec , No. of Exec/Total Number of Days in Month.
Created a graph, with Merged Month, Merged Year, vNoofExec with Region Color on 'Functional Area'.
But, it doesn't work.
If I replace vNoofExec with No. Of Exec I get the data, but not with vNoofExec.
Any Idea how we can get a solution for this?

What I found is, if I create a measure like, [No. of Exec] where ([Functional Area]="FA1") and use this measure in the graph I am able to see the data even if I use Total Days in the Graph, but, I cannot create multiple measures like this because for me number of Functional Areas will be changing always.

Cannot Retrieve data from Information objects - BW

Hi all, I am having a problem with extract some data from BW.
I have a BW query that I was extracting some data. I could extract all level of the hierarchy. I mean, when I did a universe, it shows every dimention and information.
After create an universe and configured a connection, I did my report in WEBI and than a dashboard in xcelsius. I had to fix something in the universe and in the report, but sudenly the connection was down (I was doing a remote connection to the server). I don´t know why, my report couldn´t extract data from information, but only dimention.
I didn´t change the query and I have tryed to create another universe connection and new universe. I have tryed to create a new connection with another BW query too. The result was the same... No data from Information objects but only from dimention objects.
BO can´t extract (information objects) data from BW.
PS: I have stoped the services and started again twice.

Issue in migrating dimension from EPMA

Hi,
I have been trying to migrate an EPMA shared dimension from UAT to Dev. New members were created in Dev. But the properties, alias names were not updated. I am migrating the Shared Library dimensions using LCM EPM Architect in Foundation.
Is there a step I am missing?

First, Please validate that the properties are truly not getting updated (manually extract them via the File Generator).
Then, I would recommend making a copy of the app, toggling one of the dimensions that isn't migrating properly to Local, and then extracting that from the file generator (as a comparison) - and see if those properties are different than what you expect.
Lastly, I would do 2 things:
1. LCM the 'local' copy over to the target environment
2. Extract hierarchies in target using the file generator to confirm the properties truly are not being updated.
The trick with EPMA is that it keeps multiple copies of members in the relational repository, what I am trying to get you to do is see if a single copy is broken. EPMA 11.1.2.0 is overall less stable than 11.1.1.3.xx, 11.1.1.4.xx and 11.1.2.1+
Also, make sure the properties were set for your appropriate product... Essbase BSO, Essbase ASO, Planning, etc. Each set of properties has a different header and cannot be used across products

Populating webi reports with images downloaded live from external sites

I'm writing applications to create different visualizations of my data, and would like the resulting images to show up in webi reports. Specifically, the application that draws the visualization will be deployed to the same java application server as webi. Users will open a normal webi report which will contain something like an HTML <img href="#myhref" /> tag, where #myhref will be a link to a page in my web application that draws a visualization.; Is such a thing possible, and if so, how? Many thanks, in advance.

Nevermind... I think I got it. I created a SQL query that would return the URL I wanted (something like SELECT 'http://server/context?param1=' || field1 || '&param2=' || field2 FROM table", and then modified the resulting cell to be read as an Image URL.
