WEBI report on a Universe - Time Format

Hi,
I have a WEBI report built on a universe that uses a BW query as a datasource.
In my BW report I have two time key figures of type DEC.
Actual Time and Scheduled Time in format HH:MM:SS or -HH:MM:SS if it is a negative value. It works well in Bex and RSRT.
There is a Universe report built on top of this report and my WEBI report is built on the universe.
When I run the WEBI report the time key figures display in the format 10,000 in BO instead of 01:00:00 (HH:MM:SS) as it is in Bex. It is obviously doing some type of internal conversion and outputting the wrong result.
Is there a way to convert the field in BO so that it outputs the same as Bw format?
I have tried changing the universe format properties of the field from Number to Character and back again but it does not give me any different result and in some cases it displays as #DataType.
Any suggestions welcome.
BO Version 3.1
BW Version 7.01
Regards,
John

If you select "Date/Time" in the format then select the time field, does this work for you?
It should be HH:mm:ss  (capitalization matters).
I don't have a BW sample currently available to test so this screenshot is from an Oracle data source.
Also, are you able to set the object to a Date type?

  • Can create Webi report using multiple universe (multiple datasource)

    Hi All,
Can we create a Webi report from multiple universe (can say multiple dataprovider & datasource)?
    Please suggest.
    Regards,

You can bring as many sources together into one report as you like.
However, to use them together you must have some common dimension, such as a particular Sold To Party, Business Partner, etc. You can then use merge dimensions to develop your report but you will need to be aware that dimensions that are NOT Common to both data providers cannot be used in a table combining two data providers.
So, if data provider one has dimensions Resort, Product and Year and a  measure object Sales Value
while  data provider one has dimensions Resort and Year and a  measure object Cost Value, you cannot use Product in a report but you can display Resort, Year, Sales Value and Cost Value together to show you how much revenue each resort is generating each year and how much it is costing you to do so. To have product in the report table, you would need to add it to data provider two.
Hope that clears it up for you.

  • Webi Report on BW Universe works in DEV but not properly in TEST

    Hi,
We have created a Webi-Report on a BW Universe on our DEV server. Everything works like a charm and we are prompted as the first thing for keydate and the report is refreshed successfully. We then export the Universe (no connection overwrite) and Report to our TEST server with the Export Wizard and the problems start.
When we refresh the report on the TEST server we are prompted for keydate. If we select a value for the date we receive an error:
A database error occured  The database error text is: The MDX (and then some MDX) failed to execute with the error Specify a value for variable Financial Statement Version. (WIS 10901)
If we select Use default value the report refreshes but no currency conversion is done. We can then refresh the report again and this time if we select a value for the keydate the report refreshes without the above error.
We have tried to overwrite the connection during export from DEV to TEST so the connection points to our DEV BW Server with the same result. If we create the universe on the TEST server from scratch everything works as intended.
If we transport the Universe and report from DEV to PROD directly the report works as intended.
The BO user (SSO WinAd) testing this have admin rights on BO. The connection in the univers to BW is done using a fixed username and password (no SSO to BW)
I am now out of options and would appreciate any input you might have to solve this problem.
    Best Regards,
    Lars

    Hi Wavery,
Thanks for your reply. I have checked the connections and they are named exactly the same on DEV/TEST/PROD. I have also tried deleting the universe, connection and report on TEST and then do a new transport of all of them from DEV to TEST. Same result.
What I don't understand is why the refresh works if I do it in two steps:
    <OL>
    <LI>
I set keydate to "use default value" when prompted and the report will refresh without the keydate dependent calculations. None keydate dependent measures are showing correct values from BW.
    </LI>
    <LI>
Then I refresh again and set the keydate to a date and the report refreshes with the dependent calculations.
    </LI></OL>
This tells me the connection is working and the problem is somewhere else. At the moment I'm clueless
    Any input is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lars

  • How to schedule webi report using OLAP Universe

    Hi all,
I am using the webi report which is based on BW query or cube.
I want to schedule the webi report  which should get refreshed automatically.
how to set the date parameter for that webi report at universe or report level.
or shall i should create a variable at bw side i.e., (sysdate -1)  and tht variable should i use in the report or any idea..
    i am using BOE 3.1 SP3

    Hi,
it won't be at "report-level" . those local variables are formulae used for formatting, not for user inputs / responses.
Easiest is to use the SAP KEYDATE variable in the BEx query.
This SAPVAR will come through as a WebI prompt like any other, and has a default value of sysdate (if not answered differently)
As for the Scheduling mechanism, this is the same as always - done in Infoview / BILaunchPad - select the webi instance, and click Schedule .

  • WebI report based on Universe upon SAP BEx Queries:Prompt issue

    Hi,
I am creating Web Intelligence report using Universe based on SAP Bex Queries. In WebI report I created a filter condition as I need to run report based on two specidc dates. I need to schedule report to run 2nd of every month to show data for last month. At present I have the following filter : date between 'Start Date' and 'End Date'. 'Start Date' should always be 'first date of previous month' and End Date be always must be 'Last date of previous Month'. How to do this. The solution I thought would be to create  variables at report/universe level ('first date of previous month' and 'Last date of previous Month') and use in the filter using 'Object from this Query' option. But this 'Object from this Query' option is missing in the prompt. Is there any work around to achieve this.? Could you please help me.
    Nanda Kishore

    Hi all,
I have a related question too.
I have 2 queries and need a Combined BEx query written on this for reporting. (WebI)
In the 2 queries, there is a Field which needs to be restricted.
But this field should not be restricted in the Combined BEx query.
So I thought of restricting the Field at the report level. But in this case, the user gets a prompt to enter a value for the field.
And this is not desirable as per the requirement.
COuld you please tell me if there is another way of handling this without the user being prompted to enter a value while the report is being run, but still I need selection at the Field level.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Access table directly from database in BO 4.0 WebI Report without using Universe

Can i use the table avilable in database directly to make BO 4.0 WebI Report without create any universe.
    I realy appeiciate your help.
    Thank you in advance.

You need to create a universe for Relational SQL databases. Universe is a must. The reason you create universe is for the end users. WebI is designed for end users to create their own reports. It is a self service reporting tool. In order to do that, you need universe which allows users to query database using SQL without knowing SQL language.
If you don't want to create a universe for reporting then you can use Crystal Reports instead of WebI

  • Can not create Webi report on a Universe based on Bex Query

    Hi,
We are using BO XI 3.1 (FP 3.4) with SAP integration Kit (same Patch Level) with SAP Authentication. We have a Universe based on a bex query and its connection is set to use SSO.
We have say two SAP users U1 & U2. Now "U1" is able to create webi reports but when we Logged in as "U2" and try to create Webi reports or try to refresh reports created by U1 it through an error ...
The database error text is: (CS) "Error on NumResultCols" . (WIS 10901).....
As per the "Authorization" section in BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solution Installation Guide we have provided this users with all the mention autherizations.
Any words over this will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,

It is highly probable that this is due to missing authorizations on the SAP BW side (not talking about the authroizations which are directly related to the BO/BW integration). I would recommend to ask your SAP Basis team to do a security trace while you are accessing the reports with the user, who gets the error. THey should look for failing authorization checks.

  • Strange issues in WebI report on standard Universe on top of BW Query

    Hello,
We have a BW query with a standard Universe on top of it (generated automatically via the connection in universe designer).
However, very strange things happen when playing with the data in WebI.
There are some characteristics and just one key figure (which is just 'number of records').
    - key figures just disappear when adding characteristics
    - the wrong assignment is made from the infoobject to a dimension in webi when combining several characteristics in the WebI report (for example the 'customer' field holds the 'date' and the 'date' field is empty.
I think it has something to do with BO that starts from the text of an infoobject instead of from the key.
Also I constantly have to refresh the data when adding fields to the report.
Did anybody have similar issues? How did you solve them?
I also tried 'restructuring' the universe by deleting everything that's less relevant for the report, and taking the longest available text as dimension with key of the info object as detail and this seemed to work a lot better. However we shouldn't have to restructure a universe that's generated from a query?
    Thanks,
    Tom

We had a the same thing.  Assuming it is the same cause, it is a known issue.  SAP had us install two Notes on BW and the problem disappeared..  Evidently it has to do with an MDX generation problem.  See response below and do some investigation.
    This is a known issue.
Here are the notes that fix this issue. The second note has two composite notes in it that will need to be applied as well if they still have problems after they install the first two.
There are some items that are broken in SP6. You'll notice that SAP note 1404328 is already in SP6. You'll still need to install it again along with the second SAP note 1420169
Please install both of these and try your work flow again. If it's still not working, then you'll need to go through the composite notes in the second SAP note 1420169.

  • #Unavailable in WEBI Report - Using OLAP Universe

    Hi,
I am using BEX query (OALP Universe) to create a WEBI report, when I run the report, it shows #UNAVAILABLE in Key Figures values.
I am not using the database delegation in Key figures properties in Universe, it is default to SUM
and if i create a new report based on this universe it is displaying correct, only if i open the existing report it shows the #unavailable.
and i tested this report in webi rich client, i.e. i imported this report in WEBI rich client and ran it , it was working fine, then again i exported this report into infoview and it is working fine in Infoview, the Key figures are showing values.
I am strange of this issue...
Please let me know if you guys have any idea on this issue
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi,
I am not sure if it is the same problem, but I had similar issues with measure objects coming out of the universe that were defined as "database delegated" in the universe object's properties. Basically it then forces you to always refresh when you have changed anything on the report, so that it can recalculate the measure. I am not aware of differences regarding this in Rich Client vs. InfoView, but there could be. I have seen other similar issues between the two before.
Check to see if the measures are database delegated, and change them if you can to sum or count or whatever they should be.
    Hope that helps.

  • Webi reports using MSAS universe

I am using BO XI R3.1. I have created a universe by connecting it to Microsoft Analysis services 2005. In connection, I used OLE DB for OLAP providers for MSAS 2005. I used user specified user name and password and provided a domain service account that has access on the cube. Connection is successful and it brought all objects and classes from the cube. I exported the universe and tried creating reports in Webi using it.
In Webi, I can access the universe and see all classes and objects. But when I run the report it gives and error "Could not find data provider msolap.3 (WIS 10901)".
I tried to investigate and changed BO service "Server Intelligent Agent" to run on the same domain account instead of local system account. In CMC I changed the user properties to enable database credentials and gave same domain user account. Still the report does not run.
As a background, BO server is running on a separate windows 2003 server and MSAS 2005 is on a separate windows 2003 server.
Can someone please help me on this. Does it have anything to do with kerberos setup to pass security credentials across the servers?
    Thanks
    Tarun

    Sorry Didier.
For some reason if i save the file it is saved as 0 bytes and if i try to open directly , the zip archive is empty.
Can you please attach this as a pdf or word document?

  • Migrate Webi Report / Universe from Dev to production

    Hello,
there are lot of possibilities to migrate a Webi report or a universe  from Development server to Production server. my question for the experts is what is best practice scenario to do that. What should i take in consideration.
if i rename my Production universe, place it in an other Path and  base my migration on the option "compare name and Path" of the universes. would it migrate ? What about the Connection ?
My Target when migrating Universes. Is only to migrate the universe without connections
But when migrating Webi Reports is to migrate only the reports without universes or connections. But at the same time be sure that the Report is adressed to the right universe in the Destination System.
Is that realistic .. Thanx ..

    Prerequest:
You should have Remote access to both the server the BO is installed
    Approach1:
    Login to source server
create a folder with the name temp.biar in the desktop of server 1
Go to import wizard of server 1
select server 1 as source and temp.biar file as a destination and import all that required to biar file
from server 1 connect to server 2 and place this biar file in some shared folder
    connect to server2
open the shared folder and copy that biar file and place it in the desktop of server2
Go to import wizard of server 2
select the temp.biar file from desktop of server 2 and destination as server 2
    and complete the process
Note: as we are doing this in remote, there will be lot of issues while connection to path which sometimes even the erro r message will mislead us....
    Approach2:
    dont create any biar file
    Login to server 2
    Go to import wizard
select server 1 as source and server 2 as destination and move directly from server to server
Approach2 is not preffered if server 2 is production serve....
    this may help

  • Connect 2 BO Universes in a WebI Report

    Hi,
I need to set up a WebI report with 2 universes. Each universes is based on a SAP BW Query and has a date variable to execute the BW query. I established the report based on the first universe and then added in the "edit query" window with the funtion "add query" the second universe.  Both universes have a data variable to execute the BW query. But I could not link these 2 date variables together, so that the user has to enter only ONCE the date. Is there any possiblity to passthrough the entered date from the first query to the other query? When yes, how can I do this?
    Please help!
    Thank you Stefanie

    Hi Stefanie,
You have not posted the complete definition or the main prompt definition which should be as
    @Prompt('text','A','Class\LOV Object',mono,free)
please check that part. Even single extra space in the definition would result in the two different prompt.
Check once for space or spelling...there must be something different..
If both the definition are exactly the same then I can't think of reason why it is so?
You can try this: Create the two more prompts at the universe level (keeping exactly the same definition). And pull these two prompts in their respective queries and check the result. If you get the result then replace the genrated defintion of the prompt
    Hope it helps you.
    Regards,
    Rohit

    Hi,
    try with this.
Starting the Gateway Service on the Message Server resolved this issue.
There have also been reports of this issue when name resolution issues occur between the client and the Message Server machine.  As a test, you can add the Message Server name and IP address to the Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file.
    Or check SAP note 1590518.

  • Question if Webi reports need to be re-pointed to Universes

We are running XIR2 SP2 using a SQL 2005 database. Our Universes are connected using an ODBC connection. We have moved the database to a new SQL instance and have created a new OLE DB connection in designer. I am in the process of changing the Universe's connection in Universe Parameters, from the ODBC connection to use the OLE DB connection. This is the only change to the Universes'. Are there any reasons why the webi reports using these Universes need to re-pointed to the Universe in Query Properties?

    Hi Michael,
If you have made any change in the universe connection and reexported back to the repository then you need not to repoint the report(preexisting one to the universe).
You have to just refresh the report to observe the change.
    You can test this using this workflow;
Create a test universe with sql server 2000 ODBC connection , now using this create a webi report and in that use a function name connection().
It will show you the details of connection in the report.
Now go to universe and change the connection from ODBC to oledb.
    Reexport the universe.
Open the report and refresh it , the data in connection() function will show oledb details which were earlier showing ODBC details.
So we dont have to repoint the reports to the universe.
    I hope this helps.

    Gaurav

  • Olap universe date format

    Hello,
    BW query connected to universe.
BW query holds the date values in some of the characteristics-attributes which is of type 'date'.
When this imported to BO universe, the date type characteristics are appearing as 'character'.
This is causing problem when sorting the report.... it is sorted in alphabetical order but not in Date order.
When changing in universe as 'object properties' -> type -> Date.   It is giving Error when running the webi report  'A database error occured. The database error text is: (CS) "Driver not capable" . (WIS 10901)' (or) when check integrity in universe.
How to make the  type as date in universe for Time characteristics.
    Thanks
    Sreedh.

    Following are the version installed.
    Universe Designer : 12.1.0.882
    Webi Rich Client : 12.2.6.567
As mentioned in earlier notes.... Webi report connected to Universe to BW Query.
BW query has attributes of 0calweek and it has ValidFrom(date type).  The ValidFrom is appearing as character format and the requirement is to treat ValidFrom as date format in BO (universe or in webi) so that customer can able to Sort by date.   Since ValidFrom in universe changed to character format after the query connected to Universe, so ValidFrom is Sorting as character but not like date.   Is there workaround to make ValidFrom as datetype in BO or anyother version support this.
    Thanks
    Sreedh.
