WebI report saveAs with DocumentInstance

Hi everyone,
I want to save as webi with Report Engine SDK(Java).But I must save the webi,and then Save As ,or customize the content of the page will be lost.
Is It possible to save as webi directly。
my code：
     DocumentInstance wiDoc = widocRepEngine.openDocument(Integer.parseInt(this.docId));
     DocumentInstance wiDocInstance = widocRepEngine.getDocumentFromStorageToken(wiDoc.getStorageToken());

My first impression is that you're doing something wrong.
You're not giving me enough information so I can determine what you're doing wrong.
I dislike guessing, but I'm going to guess here that you're launching the Web Intelligence Java Report Panel to do the modifications. You're not using the ReportEngine SDK to do the modifications. So you can't show me code that does the document modifications, since you don't have any.
You're wondering why you have to first "Save" in the Java Report Panel on the client-side, before you can "SaveAs" on the server-side using ReportEngine SDK. The answer is because you have to "Save" in the Java Report Panel to have the Web Intelligence document store the document from the Report Server to the repository, such that you can open it server-side using ReportEngine SDK.
Java Report Panel client-side and ReportEngine SDK server-side don't share WebI Sessions.

I was not able to find, in the report demo samples available in the SAP BO 4.1 installation, a Webi report with prompts.
I found many Webi reports samples but all are without prompts.
I need at least one Webi report sample with prompts to try the Restful API http://localhost:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/7090/parameters and http://localhost:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/7090/schedules with parameters body.

As you have BI 4.1 installed, you could design a sample webi report using Webi Rich Client tool.
Open Webi rich client, select the sample eFashion universe drag few objects in the query and a filter. Set the filter as a prompt and save the report to Enterprise.
Now you could now use this sample report for your handson on REST SDK.

How to run webi report automatically with the current date/system date in webi report

Hi Friends,
I have a webi report which has a date prompt now. Based on the selection that user makes while running a report, he will get the related data for that particular date selection. Now I want to make that date prompt automated that is the report should run automatically based on the system date daily on scheduling.
I want it to run current day automatically without have to go in and pick the date in webi report. I will be scheduling the webi report. Can you please let me know how to achieve this functionality of running a webi report automatically with a system date.
Please let me know if I couldn't make you understand so that I will write with an example.

Hello Bhasakar,
1.Create sysdate object in the universe
2.Create another query in webi and select only sysdate object
3.In the original query drag the Day object in the filter pane and choose the "List of values" from another query.and select the sysdate object from the second query.
So your report always will run for sysdate...

Webi reports compatibility with IE8

Hi All,
BO 5.1 reports are published as webi reports on web server.Users would view/edit the reports from the webpage. Currently IE6 is installed on web server and it will be upgarding to IE8 on it.
My question is - Is BO 5.1 version webi reports compatible with IE8 or not ?
If yes,then can you please tell me what browser based components that has to be tested for BO and the test plan(If any).

Provide Edit WebI reports authorization with Save as option.

Hello Experts,
I am new to BO authorizations.
I have a scenario where i need to provide my users Edit rights(not modify) and provide them with Save As access while denying the save access(So that they don't overwrite the original report with their changes).
I was able to provide my users access to reports (like view & refresh) but they are not able to edit reports(have already provided Edit report access for Webi), also "save as" come grayed out while Save option is active.
Can anyone suggest how shall i proceed to give the users required rights.

I have already assigned Schedule & VOD access for the folder but that doesn't help. and at Webi Application level i have allowed almost all the formatting options.
also the Manage - top level security for folders wont work for me as I have to give the users access to their specific folder "A" only.

Webi report - save as .csv is bringing double the number of rows.

Hello all,
I am running a webi report and then saving it as .csv file to my desktop but when I save the file it is giving me double the number of rows. In my report I have employee, employee key, attributes and Org unit and some measures.
The .csv file has one additional column at the end which does not have any header and that column has "1" in the rows which should be legitimate and "0" in the rows which are so called duplicates, in these duplicate rows there is all data except it is missing the employee key and org unit key.
If I save as excel I get the right number of rows.
has any one seen this issue before?

Exporting to csv is different from exporting to csv.
If you have any filter on your crosstab or table and you export it to excel it will show you your data according to this filter. Let's say in your table you have amount 0 and 1 and you filter that column so it will show only those records where amount = 1. If you export it to excel you'll get what you see in your WebI report, that's only records with amount = 1.
But if you export to csv the same Webi report with the same crosstab or table filtered by amount=1, the csv export will ignore this filter and your csv will include amount 0 and amount 1 records.
I don't know if that's a WebI's bug, but that's what has happened to me.
A workaround could be adding your filter directly in the query pane, not filtering your table columns.
Also check your query pane to see what object is bringing that extra column in your table.

Webi Reports - Object with id ... cannot be created because it has no name

I'm trying to launch a Webi report from our application using openDocument method. When the report is launched it fails with following error -
30567: Unable to save the document to the repository due to the following error: The object with id number '27731' cannot be created because it has no name. (Error: WIS 30567)
Before scheduling the report I'm calling setName method to set the name of the report but still it does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John,
I will try to give you some more background about this problem.
From our application we are not directly launching the report. We schedule it to run immediately and then view the instance created (using the instance id returned by the schedule call).
For scheduling we use the web services API (BIPlatform) and before scheduling we fetch all the prompts (again using a webservice API). The call is something like this -
WebiProcessingInfo wProcessingInfo = boWebIReport_.getWebiProcessingInfo();
After that we populate all the prompts with their corresponding values in application and schedule it. However the scheduling fails with the error I mentioned in the start of this thread and when we try to view it we are presented with a screen to enter prompts again.
From the scheduling error it looks like its failing because the name could not be set but I really doubt if thats the case. We use same calls to schedule and view Crystal reports also and they work perfectly. Only Webi is giving this error.

When we go to generated web report, selection screen show us character &#56292; instead accent letters.

Webi Report Save on Enterprise location

Hi Experts,
I am getting following error at the time of saving Webi report on BO Enterprise location.

I don't think you can federate WebI server with SAP portal.
You can use WebI report IDs and integrate with Portal.

Webi report publication with org unit personalization mapping

Hi everyone,
I have an HR Webi report whose source is a Bex query and is scheduled (published) weekly. The report is meant for managers so in the dynamic recipient report (another webi report) I have manager's name, email and org unit. Right now the bex query does not restrict by organizational unit, the filtering by unit is done in webi through the 0employee's org unit attribute. This works, each manager only sees data of her own employees.
However, managers would like to see not only their direct people (employees belonging to her own org unit) but also submanagers, ie, managers of subordinate org units. I tried filtering through the org unit of 0ORGUNIT, not the employee's o.unit attribute, but that doesn't work. The same manager shows up multiple times in the report.
Has anyone managed to publish a webi report (or Crystal if that's possible) that shows the chief hat's subhierarchy?

The publication should work in the same way for a user or a group.
Can you please elaborate on u201Cassigning a user to the groupu201D, I believe this is probably where you go wrong.
Please test same workflow I suggested yesterady, but instead of user, use the group:
1. create the profile
2. add the group to the profile
3. assign the profile value to the group for that profile
4. add the group to the publication as Recipient
Does it work or not? If so, then do as follow for the user and group:
1. create the profile
2. Add user and group to the profile
3. assign the profile value to the user and group for that profile
4. add the user and group to the publication as Recipient
Please note that in the above steps, you donu2019t have to assign the user to the group.

Report Bursting with RESTful Web Services SDK

We are looking to upgrade to BI 4.x from BI 3.1. We are not sure whether RESTful Web Services SDK is the way to go. We have a requirement where we need to be able to refresh a report, save the whole report content to a specified forma for a team lead/manager, and then section/burst each report to separate files that each is corresponding to the individual employee. In other words, for example, we have a team constent of 1 manager and 4 employees. We want to save one report for the manager with all the content from the 4 employees, and then 4 individual reports that each belong to each employee. We current have a macro code that does this in BI 31 refreshing Deski reports. We want to upgrade to BI 4.X, but the Deski and macro are no longer supported. The macro in BI 3.1 we used to control when to refresh, where to save the reports and update our external datasource that the reports finished refreshing and available for view. We want to keep the same functionality so that it is not a whole redesign of the system when the upgrade happens. Thank you so much for your help. Any sample code, tips and guides are helpful. I am looking to prototype first before I can confirm this will work when upgrading. I have a code snippet in macro (VBA) from BI 3.1 in the attached file for reference if you know of the equivalent.

Looking at your macro, most of the functionality would be available with REST SDK. With BI 4.x REST is now only SDK which provides APIs to work with webi report. With .NET or Java SDK we could not eeven schedule a webi doc with prompts.
With BI 4.1 REST APIs include.
refresh report, schedule report, save report, export which is done by your macro.
For detailed tasks, such as saving and modifying the report for specific users and send to schedule, you would need to play around with REST Urls to understand the workflow.
For starters take a look at the devleopers guide for REST here:

Importing a text file with variable values into web reporting

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.
However, this function seems not to be available for web-reporting...
It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

WebI reports with BW Aggregates

Can someone please explain how do WebI reports work with BW Aggregates? Let's say I create a BW aggregate and create a BeX query on the aggregate and then create a universe on this BeX query and then a WebI report on this universe, now when I run the WebI report, where will the data source from - the aggregate or the actual BW infocube?

Thanks Amr for the promt response. I will be creating my universes on query so I think BW will fetch the data from appropriate aggregate when user executes the report in WebI.
Do I have to create my queries on the aggregate for this to happen? Or will WebI know which aggregate to go to fetch data if I create my BeX query on the actual infocube instead of the aggregate?
