WebLogic 10.3.6 Times Out When Starting Web App

When starting our web app on WebLogic 10.3.6 using startWebLogic.sh on OEL (8 cores, 64 GB box), after about 5 to 6 minutes we receive a timeout error from WebLogic saying that it timed out trying to start the web app. The web app has some pre-computed indices to load which will take an estimated 10 to 15 minutes to load. Is there are way to control this timeout?

The time-out you are getting is that related to a transaction?
You can set the transaction time-out in the WebLogic console go to the JTA page for the domain, and change the value in the Timeout Seconds field.
When you are using EJBs, you can also set the time-out on a EJB basis, instead of configuring the time-out for the whole domain.
For example, in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, you can configure the time-out by using:
<weblogic-ejb-jar ...>
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
        <ejb-name>YOUR_EJB_NAME</ejb-name>
        <enable-call-by-reference>True</enable-call-by-reference>
        <stateless-session-descriptor>
            <pool>
                <initial-beans-in-free-pool>25</initial-beans-in-free-pool>
                <max-beans-in-free-pool>50</max-beans-in-free-pool>
            </pool>
        </stateless-session-descriptor>
        <transaction-descriptor>
            <trans-timeout-seconds>600</trans-timeout-seconds>
        </transaction-descriptor>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
</weblogic-ejb-jar>The transactions this EJB spawns can last for 10 minutes.

  • System is showing time out when run in background

    Dear all,
    We have two systems: One R/3 and EBP. We have made one report where the remote function module will be called from R/3 to EBP. There are 4 lakhs data in SAP. We are sending 10000 data as package in internal table and getting the corresponding output. But the system is showing time out when the report has run in background. Can you please suggest how the process can be improved so that the timeout can be avoided.
    Thanks and regards,
    Atanu

    Hi,
    Try to fetch records in smaller chunks and process them.  For example, if you are trying to fetch records for one year, instead of single query, try to fetch in 12 sets for each month.  Fetch first month and process the records and put them in the output internal table.  Then go for next month and so on.  Anyway your program is running in background.  There will not be any user complaint also.  The solution might sound bit funny.  But it works.

  • Time out when seinding Idocs from XI to receiving system

    Hi All,
    we have implemented a file to Idoc scenario in our XI test environment.
    When sending more than one file at a time (containing one record -> 1 Idoc after conversion) XI creates the Idocs but gets a time out when passing the Idocs to the receiving SAP 4.6C system. We find the messages blocked in transaction SM58 with the status message "Transaction recorded" and on the XI system short dumps are created with the time out error message.
    Does anyone know this problem and can give us some hints how to resolve it ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christiane

    Christiane,
    Check your partner profiles in the target R/3 system. Use Tcode WE20 and check the inbound parameters option to see if the radio button 'Process Immediately' is switched on. If yes, change this to 'Process by background program'.
    This way, the IDOC will be created in your system with status 64. You can then use program RBDAPP01 in the R/3 system to post these IDOCs to application.
    The reason I say this is, sometimes, posting applicaitons may take a long time thereby resulting in timeout. If this is not the actual reason, atleast this will lead you to the correct problem.
    Try this and let me know what's happening.

  • Safari times out when uploading. Is there a fix?

    I'm a fan of the Safari webbrowser, BUT, for years it has pained me that it times out when uploading multiple images. I have scowered the internet in hopes to find a solution, but I find only third party plugins that don't look like they are from reliable sources.
    Chrome and Firefox can sit there and upload for any period, but Safari just stopps after 10-20 images, sometimes less. It seems more time dependant than anything else.
    I worked for tech support for a big company. We used to get loads of calls about this and we were instructed to tell people to use Chrome or Firefox.
    Why has it been so many years without a native fix? Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a simple fix or a plugin from a reliable source?
    Many thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Carolyn,
    Thanks for your reply. My upload speed is 0.85Mbps.
    I'm sure this is not the issue however as it has been the same since I lived in Sweden with 100/100Mbps. When I worked at my old job with over 2 million customers uploading across Australia I would just have to advise all mac users to use another webbrowser because of this issue.
    Kind Regards,
    Tom

  • HT4972 iTunes times out when trying to download iOS 5.1

    iTunes times out when trying to download iOS 5.1 - can anyone help? Can I download via a browser and then install that way?
    Looking here http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/07/ios-5-1-download/ - I can download an ipsw file - how would I get that to install on my iPhone4?
    Help!
    Cheers
    P.S. My iPhone4 is on Orange UK - is this a GSM one? or CDMA???

    Hi,
    Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    Now restart your iPad.  Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    If that didn't help, you need to post in the iPad forum here.

  • Time outs when redirected from RDS CB to RDSH

    Hi,
    I'm troubleshooting connectivity for the following setup:
    1x RD Gateway server
    1x RD Connection Broker Server also License server
    1x RD Web server
    1x RDSH server with multiple RemoteApps
    Gateway is configured to allow bypass for local connections.  Certificate has the correct name and is successfully installed. Certificate is from an internet CA.
    When users come in over the internet RemoteApps launch pretty quickly every time.  When users connect over the LAN RemoteApps launch successfully but much slower.  When users connect over some VPN connections the connection times out when launching
    a RemoteApp.
    Over VPN I can see a successfull CAP and RAP in the Gateway Event log.  I can also see a successful connection and successful redirection from the gateway to the connection broker over HTTP.  In the SessionBroker log I can see a successful connection, but
    then when the redirect to RDSH is attempted event 819 occurs "This connection request has timed out. User could not log on to the end point within the alloted time. Remote Desktop Connection Broker will stop monitoring this connection request."
    When you connect over the LAN it takes longer but successfully redirects, and when connecting over the internet (non VPN) it connects quickly and successfully.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
    What’s your server and client version you are using?
    Please uncheck the option “Bypass RD Gateway for local address” for gateway setting and verify whether there is any improvement in connections. Also as you have commented that you are receiving time out when you use VPN connection, please see whether there
    is any blockage from firewall side for not allowing VPN connection to make the connections.
    This might also occur due to antivirus or other 3rd party related software. Because as you can connect directly from internet without any issue but there is some problem with internal LAN and VPN connection, So seems issue with internal firewall\antivirus.
    Please check whether it is not blocked or any policy applied for not allowing connection.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

    Internet connection times out when downloading update ios5. get to last 0.01 of data, says processing file and then says connection timed out. Is there a fix?
    I am using itunes 10.5. Update didnt work on last software but restore did work. Help

    After two days of attempts, Google & Apple searches, one Apple post stated to turn off all firewalls and virus software and keep trying since there were 6 gazillion people trying to update.  I have Windows 7 & Kaspersky and had to diable every single safety feature in Kaspersky as well as Firewalls and it finally allowed the download and update attempt.
    Glancing at the forum, there appears to be numerous other problems with missing pictures, text problems etc after the IOS5 download but fortuneately, everything seems ok so far.  Good luck, it is frustrating!  Hattie47

  • Why does my network connection time out when downloading iphone 4 software update?

    Why does my network connection time out when trying to download iphone4 software update?

    I'm having the same problem too. I cannot sync or update over wireless or wired connections ever since I installed the most recent iTunes update. iTunes goes through the complete OS 5.0.1 download only to tell me the connection has timed out just when it seems ready to install. I've since reinstalled iTunes, I've ejected and done hard restarts on both my problem devices. I've disabled anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall. No change in outcome except that, after doing all this, my final attempt to simply sync my 1st Gen iPad led to iTunes crashing and being automatically closed by windows just before finishing the final step. Is this a cruel joke, because I'm certain I can hear iTunes laughing at me for wasting so much time on this.

    We still couldn't get it to stop timing out. I tried to download the firmware from iClarified but iTunes said it didn't recognise the software.

  • Tuchpad stops working when starting any app

    Hi,
    My mousepointer stops when starting any app. Works fine after starting anything, at the desktop, but  as soon as I start any program, systemsettings or else it stops to work.

    I'm having pretty much the same problem.  When I try to launch InDesign CS5.5 I receive the error message from Windows:  Adobe InDesign CS5.5 has stopped working.
    I have the Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium Student and Teacher Edition, running on Windows 7 Home Edition Premium 64 bit
    I have tried opening InDesign directly and get the error message, and I've tried opening from a document and get the same message.
    Recently I had to move to a new computer, as my old hard-drive boot died on the old one, so I was not able to uninstall Creative Suite 5.5 from the old computer.  However, the rest of the Suite works fine, just not InDesign.
    I have tried the fix as per Peter Spiers' post above; I renamed the InDesign SavedData file, but there was no InDesign Defaults file.  I searched for adobefnt*.lst files, but there were none.
    I've not successfully used InDesign since loading it on this new computer, so perhaps this makes a difference?

  • Request time out when creating content database

    Hello,
    my problem is, that i cannot create a SharePoint content database via the central administration.
    My Setup is the following:
    SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise Farm
    1x Applikation Server/WFE (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
    1x Database Server MSSQL Server 2012 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
    1x TFS 2013 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
    all of them are hosted in the same Hyper-V Environment. It is not the fasted Hyper-V Environment existing on planet earth.
    The weirdest part of the problem is, i am able to create a content database via powershell.
    I am running in some kind of time out issue related to the IIS and CA of that Applikation Server.
    Here is the ULS Log from the failling content database creation via CA

    The fact that i am able to create a content database through powershell sorts out permissions problems. I am certain of that because the w3wp.exe and the powershell.exe used for both creations were run under the same user.
    The timeout always happens aroud 120 seconds after i started the creation. The creation via powershell takes about 3,5 minutes.
    Here for the folks that ask me, why i haven't asked google or bing or some other search engine.
    I tried the solutions suggested here
    http://www.sharepointpals.com/post/Error-while-Creating-Web-Application-through-Central-Administration , here
    http://anthonyspiteri.net/sharepoint-2010-web-ui-timeout-creating-web-application-quick-fix/ and here
    http://blogs.ibs.com/Duane.Odum/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=33
    which i thought pointed me to the right solution.
    But those post unfortunatly didnt worked out.
    I also tried to alter the web.config files (i know that isn't recommended or supported, but it didn't change anything so those are back to normal as well)
    So here are my question:
    Can you guys help me solve this issue?
    Are there any other places where timeouts can be managed or defined?
    P.S.: I am new to using this forum. so pls don't crucify me for doing a mistake.
    P.S.S: My english is very poor also :D
    With best regards
    Simon

    Be careful with settings like these because there may be a much deeper issue at hand. I have had an issue with a customer that manifests itself as a timeout on a site collection. It was very hard to track since it didn't happen frequently. We engaged Microsoft
    Support to find out the root cause but all they could point at is a general network issue that pertains to authentication. After digging deeper, we found out that the network issue was caused by a saturated network connectivity to the domain controller that
    impacts a site collection when the database is making an authentication call. Keep this solution as more of a quick fix but be sure to conduct a deeper investigation of the real root cause

  • Daughter IPOD Touch 4th lost all music from itunes, Itunes suggested to restore to factory settings. Have done so last few days, all showing 20 hours to restore then times out and starts back to 20 hours again. Will not sync at all. HELP

    IPOD TOUCH(4th gen) MUSIC DISPLAY has wiped out all my music. The music I have is all still on ITUNES but will NOT SYNC. When attempted a displayes message appeared- Cannot read contents of IPOD (my IPOD name), go to Summary tab to Restore to factory settings. When I click OK it takes me to a CLICK on RESTORE OPTION, which I did. Then it explains that I will lose all APPS, etc.. to restore. I clicked OK again and it shows my IPOD is Downloading Software Update. The only thing being it has done this for 3 days now. It starts by stating will take 20 hours, goes down to 12 or 10 and prompts OUT and when I redo the thing again it starts back up at 20 hours but continually times out. *Also, in case it matters ,the SYNC option on my IPOD in ITUNES is Highlighted as to where I cannot use that option. Everytime I start it back up I get the same message (Cannot read contents of IPOD, go to Summary Tab,etc..) Help.

  • 9iAS rel 2 SLOW and report times out when running !! HELP !

    Hello,
    I have 9iAS installed on Win 2K machine SP 2.
    I have done the BI install with the infrastructure in a separate home.
    I have 524K RAM.
    EM is VERY SLOW (as per usual).
    I have rebooted the server a few times - still slow.
    When I try to run a report it times out just bringing up the parameter page !
    If I try to kill the report I run into BUG 2544383 which is a fat lot of use ....
    This 9iAS is absolute garbage - how can Oracle tell us to migrate our existing developer forms & reports to web-deployment from client server if this sort of performance is going on ? This is still in development - if this was a production machine this would be TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE !!!!!
    Does anyone from Oracle actually respond to these threads or are they too busy writing bugs for the next release of 9iAS ?
    Seriously though, if anyone has some workarounds for these issues then please let me know.
    Thanks

    We got aound the ADMN error by manually starting the components that were down in Infrastructure first then the ones in the BI instance all thru EM.
    FYI Oracle said this to me about recommended h/w :
    The Installation Guide for iAS sets the minimum requirements for installing iAS as:
    Infrastructure 512Mb RAM
    Mid Tier install with 4 or more components 512 Mb RAM
    Please remember that these are minimums only and are not the recommendations for anything larger than a small workgroup installation. The main points to remember are to install the OS on a seperate physical disk from the Applications and to have as much RAM as you can beyond the minumums. But even this approach has its limitations and so you may then have to consider different approachs to maximising scalablility. It is also not recommended to have the Infrastructure and Mid-tier installed on the same machine for larger systems as you are more likely to encounter resource limitations due to the different installations serving different purposes.
    So we are going to go with your minimum 2 Gig with 7 gig swap file I think.
    I think we may go for a 3-server setup.
    one with Infrastructure and Portal on it.
    The other 2 with BI installs on them with them probably running in some sort of cluster (either hardware or software cluster). All with 2 gig RAM.
    I still don't know why somtimes my reports hang - I think it may possibly be BUG 2544383 which to me is a major issue as a lot of our reports are PDF as users print them out. But essentially it screws up the AS and invariably I have to either restart the WHOLE instance or reboot the server ! NOT very good for when I want to go Live with this !
