Weblogic 10.3 and OWSM

Hi
I am working with SOA Suite 11g
How can I install OWSM on weblogic 10.3 server?
Also, where can I find OWSM installation guide for installing OWSM on WebLogic 10.3?

Please post this in the SOA Suite forum as the readers aren't specialized to SOA Suite, simply WLS:

  • [OSB and OWSM] - External Web service stacks and frameworks

    Hi everyone ! I'm starting to read about OSB and OWSM and I'm having some doubts. I've some developments of Web services with external Stacks like CXF, JBossWS, Metro and I'd like to ask some questions:
    1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?
    2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?
    3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?
    I suppose that if I ignore the JAX-WS stack from Weblogic and use an external framework (like CXF) I'll lose most of the application server administration capabilities since the Weblogic server won't be able to recognize the CXF stack as it does with its own.But, the main doubt I'm in is, since OSB and OWSM might be used with external providers I probably won't need to develop my web services using the Weblogic implementation (which my team does not yet know) since there will be no features of the OSB and OWSM which can only be used with the Weblogic's stack. I would like, please, to know your oppinions about these considerations. Sorry about the long post and possible errors (I just started learning).
    Thank you!

    Hi Lupan,
    I can speak mostly to OWSM as my experience with OSB is small thus far.
    +1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?+
    OWSM (10gR3) has two types of policy enforcement point (PEP) -- Gateway and Agent. The Gateway acts as a remote proxy and is neutral to the service implementation technology as long as it adheres to SOAP 1.1. In this regard you can use OWSM freely with CXF, MS implementations, etc. Agents run in-process with the service and thus have far greater restrictions on what service implementation frameworks and containers that are supported. There is some certification for AXIS 1.x running in OAS and Tomcat; but practically speaking, my recommendation for Agents is to only use within OAS 10gR3 where it is built in (and using OC4J Web Services through JAX-RPC).
    OWSM 11gR1 initially supports only agent-style (in process) PEP and is built-in to Fusion Middleware and WLS. It is only for Fusion and WLS Web Service implementations.
    OWSM is quite full-featured for WS-*.
    +2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?+
    "No" if using OWSM Gateway PEP. A qualified "Yes" if using OWSM Agent PEP.
    +3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?+
    There is the manageability that you mention, but also there is the identity propagation scenario and tight security integration. Both OAS and WLS hosted services in the native stacks (JAX-RPC and JAX-WS) allow sophisticated and secure passing of identity in the request -- for instance, via SAML Assertions in the WS-Sec header -- and built-in capabilities to map the passed identity into the running service's Subject (i.e. enabling JAAS security etc.).
    In my experience this type of identity propagation functionality has either been absent or less complete in other typical implementation frameworks not closely aligned with the container security mechanisms.
    Hope this helps,
    Todd

  • CF8 on Weblogic 10.0 and Apache

    I am trying to configure CF8 as an EAR file on Weblogic 10.0
    and configuring it with Apache webserver. The settings for Weblogic
    are made as mentioned in the configuration document and CF8 is
    working fine on Weblogic.
    Now for Apache connectivity, a connector is configured for
    Weblogic which handles *.cfm files requests as well.
    - The CFM files are kept in webserver and when I try to open
    a cfm file, the proxy is getting invoked but since Weblogic doesn't
    find the file URI it returns 404.
    - Please let me know how can the CFM files kept on Webserver
    be rendered using CF8 deployed on Weblogic
    Or there is a need for these files to be kept on the Weblogic

    Sure. If you want to put a file example.cfm in a WAR file,
    put it in the
    root of the WAR. Your folder structure will look something
    like:
    WAR/
    WAR/example.cfm
    WAR/WEB-INF
    WAR/WEB-INF/web.xml
    WAR/WEB-INF/*
    WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion
    WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/
    etc.
    Then if you have a context root "/test" in your
    Application.xml you can
    reach your template through the URL
    http://server/test/example.cfm
    The best way to get a WAR (or EAR) file for deployment is to
    run the
    installer. It has the option to generate a WAR or EAR for
    you. Use that,
    then later unjar it to see how it looks internally.

  • WebLogic 8.1SP4 and IIS

    Hi,
    I want to configure weblogic with IIS and have found enough articles on how to proxy IIS to point to a single instance or a clustered environment but not on how to proxy IIS to multiple WebLogic servers
    I have the application running on
    http://<weblogic-server>:7201/elms
    http://<weblogic-server>:7301/elms
    http://<weblogic-server>:7401/elms
    and I want to be able to access these via the IIS through these URLs:
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms_sit
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms_uat
    Is this configuration possible? Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Since you are attempting to proxy by path you need to configure the iisforward.dll as stated in step #3 here:

    The enterprise architecture is as follows:
    1 Physical machine where I have 2 VMs on this machine, and each VM I have 1 domain, 1 Cluster and 1 managed server, and the second VM I have the replicated what I have in first VM.
    In first domain I have the OSB, in the second domain I have SOA.
    What I need ? Send information of queues (topics) of First Domain (OSB) to second domain(SOA).
    At first the only thing I did was:
    In the first domain I created OSB JMS Server, JMS Module, Connection Factory and Queue Topic.
    In the second domain SOA I replied the same thing but with different names.
    Then I created the bridge with configuration default between the first domain and the second domain, the bridge and when active it generates me a message Weblogic Bridge "failed and will reconnect later"
    I did a test on my local machine windows where I created two domains, and the same procedures you did above, but the point was funcinou been activated now for the enterprise environment I'm not managing to make it work, you could tell me what is wrong . in both cases restarted the weblogic server as the machine itself the question that ran on my machine and machine company no.

  • Preview Release of WebLogic Portal 9 and Workshop 9

    I would like to get my hands on a developer preview release of WebLogic Portal 9 and Workshop 9. I can't seem to find it online so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. We're currently evaluating portal products and I would hate to decide against BEA based on the lack of availability of the forthcoming version.
    Anybody know where a developer release of either of these two products can be found?

    The Technology Preview for WLP 9.x and WLW 9.x will be available in early December. Please contact your BEA account team to let them know that you are interested.
    At present the plan is to have a GroupSpace community site for use by all customers participating in the Technology Preview. A BEA technical field staff member (SE, PS, etc.) assigned to your account will use this site to send you an invitation, and when you join you will have access to the installation. Questions, discussions, etc. for the Technology Preview will all go through the GroupSpace site. If you don't know who your BEA technical account member(s) are, you should find out as they will be the key to obtaining the Technology Preview.
    If you can't wait for the Technology Preview, please ask your BEA acount team to contact myself or others in Product Management. We'll be happy to go over the product features, show you demos from current builds, etc.

    You need to configure the server SSL to trust the identity certificate it receives
    from nastea02.bankofny.com If you want to use the default configuration you could
    simply import the CA certificate that issued that identity certificate to the
    DemoTrust.jks keystore.
    Also, look at Using Host Name Verification here: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/secmanage/ssl.html#1187786
    because this might be another reason why the certificate is rejected.

    Can you show us the full error message? I don't know of anything in WLS that uses port 202 by default. It's a privileged port as well which makes it even more unusual.

    Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything I can do about it?You can set the following undocumented property in weblogic.properties:
    weblogic.system.gc.intervalSecs=5
    There's some kind of bad interaction between Visual Age and WebLogic's
    garbage collection control. Basically, there's a garbage collection
    task that by default runs once a second, and in the Visual Age VM,
    something it's doing takes more than a second.
    The problem only seems to exist in WebLogic 4.0.3. It doesn't happen in
    4.5.x. Also, according to one report I've had, you may need to set the
    property value to more than 5 on slower machines.
    Note that this property is unsupported, and is not guaranteed to even
    exist in any other version of WebLogic.

  • Weblogic 4.5 and Visual Cafe 3.1

    Hi,
    I am having a problem integrating Visual Cafe with Weblogic.
    Specifically, it involves getting the Weblogic classpath modified to support
    setting up a connection pool to an Informix database. If I start the
    Weblogic server manually, I can set the server classpath appropriately to
    find the Informix JDBC driver and my pool is setup properly.
    However with VC, it starts the Weblogic server from the IDE and I have
    not been able to get the addition classpath entries to find the Informix
    driver. Is there a way to add additional classpath entries so that when VC
    starts Weblogic it will find my JDBC driver? Or do I have to start the
    Weblogic server seperately and setup remote debugging manually?
    Thanks
    Carl

    Yes, I am using the symantec debug VM. This is the batch file I use to start WL.
    echo %CLASSPATH%
    set
    CLASSPATH=.;c:\VisualCafe\JAVA\LIB;c:\VisualCafe\JAVA\LIB\SYMCLASS.ZIP;c:\VisualCafe\JAVA\LIB\CLASSES.ZIP;c:\VisualCafe\bin\components\sfc.jar;c:\weblogic\license;%CLASSPATH%
    set PATH=c:\winnt\system32;c:\winnt;c:\VisualCafe\Java\bin;c:\weblogic\bin
    set
    JAVACLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;.\classes\boot;.\eval\cloudscape\lib\cloudscape.jar
    set
    WEBLOGICCLASSPATH=.\classes;.\license;.\lib\weblogicaux.jar;c:\code\VisualCafe\Version1
    rem java -ms32m -mx32m -classpath %JAVACLASSPATH%
    -Dweblogic.class.path=%WEBLOGICCLASSPATH% -Djava.security.manager
    -Djava.security.policy==weblogic.policy weblogic.Server
    c:\VisualCafe\java\bin\debugvm -ms32m -mx32m -classpath %JAVACLASSPATH%
    -Dweblogic.class.path=%WEBLOGICCLASSPATH% -Djava.security.manager
    -Djava.security.policy==weblogic.policy weblogic.Server
    If you don'y use the symantec debug VM, it stands to reason that the debug
    environment will not see your process in the VM. I can't help you with why your
    WL crashes when you connect using the debug VM. Perhaps you could post some more
    information?

    Hey,
    help please
    You said that you can attach from VC 3.1 to weblogic server 4.5.1 right. How
    did you start the server ? Is it using the symantic debugvm.exe and symantic
    settings? If I start the server with javasoft java.exe then VC is not seeing
    the vm at all. And I tried starting weblogic server using symantic
    debugvm.exe, as soon as a client trying to connect then the server crashes.
    Please post the some instruction how did you do that?
    Thanks

    The latter has been successful with me. I start the WL server manually viaa
    command prompt and then 'attach to process'.

  • Communicating between Weblogic 8.1 and Weblogic 10.3

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where in I need to access Queues in Weblogic 10.3 from Weblogic 8.1 and viceversa.
    Weblogic 8.1 :
    This has a proxy/web application that needs to put request to a Queue exposed in weblogic 10.3
    And will again poll for a Response Queue in weblogic 10.3
    Is it feasible, knowing the fact that jdk version in 8.1 is 1.4 & Jdk version is 1.6 in 8.1 ?
    Can we lookup for Queue defined in 8.1 in Weblogic 10.3 ? Can we use JMS adapter in 10.3 for acheiving this.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks !!

    Avoid using Message Bridges to receive messages.
    See the best practice: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/jms/interop.html#wp1009272
    Q. When should I avoid using a messaging bridge?
    A. Other methods are preferred in the following situations:
        * Receiving from a remote destination—use a message driven EJB or implement a client consumer directly.
        * Sending messages to a local destination—send directly to the local destination.
        * Environment with low tolerance for message latency. Messaging Bridges increase latency and may lower throughput. Messaging bridges increase latency for messages as they introduce an extra destination in the message path and may lower throughput because they forward messages using a single thread.
        * Forward messages between WebLogic 9.0 domains—Use WebLogic Store-and-Forward.

  • WebLogic 8.1 and Tomcat connection problem

    I am using Tomcat 4.0.6 for my JSPs and WebLogic for my EJBs.
    Everything worked fine under WebLogic 6.1 but I am trying
    to upgrade to WebLogic 8.1 and it is not working.
    I can also connect to WebLogic 8.1 from a standalone class
    but not using Tomcat. What is wrong?
    This is the basic code I am using to connect:
    Hashtable ht = new Hashtable(4);
    ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
    "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://localhost:7009");
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(ht);
    Object obj = ic.lookup("NsbInfoHome");
    NsbInfoHome home = ( NsbInfoHome) PortableRemoteObject.
    narrow(obj, NsbInfoHome.class);
    NsbInfo nsbInfo = home.create();
    NsbMemberPrimaryInfo info = nsbInfo.getMemberPrimaryInfo(1);
    And this is the error

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi,
    I work under a sligthly different seeting like Dan used (Java Client instead of JSPs, but same context properties), but the problem is exactly the same: weblogic.rmi.internal.StubGenerator.getStubOnClient() results in a NullPointerException.
    What does this method actually do? I provided the weblogic.jar in the client's runtime environment; is it possible that the method asks for something else on the client side that I have to provide (only guessing...)
    PS: I found the error myself. Its the Eclipse 3.0 IDE that won't work together with the factory class of BEA for some obscure reason. Switching to another IDE solved the problem...
