Weblogic 6.0 DB2 7.2 Solaris 8 IBM Trade2 Benchmark
Hello, I am tring to deploy the IBM Trade2 Sample Kit on Weblogic 6.0 DB2
7.2 Solaris 8, afer I follow the weblogic instructions I get a
TradeEJBs.jar, Trade.war, Theme.war, TradeSample.ear .... but I don´t know
if I have to copy all of them to
/bea/wlserver6.0sp1/config/mydomain/applications or just TradeSample.ear
If I just copy TradeSample.ear I see the application and the web application
in the administrative console but don´t know which URL I have to put in the
explorer to get the application response ... If I just copy Trade.war then
I get response from http://mydomain:7001/Trade/welcome.jsp ... but all the
relative path are to /WebSphereSample/...../classes ....
I ´ve been working a few days on it but I am still confused .... Any help??

I'm partial to Solaris 8 because of its improved VM File I/O caching
algorithm. However, all three have good diagnostic and tuningabilities
and would work well with WebLogic.

Hi,
I guess that the larger part of you is using WebLogic on the Solaris
platform. I am currently planning a migration from WinNT to Solaris
and
I would like to know if there are certain pros and cons for using
WebLogic 6.0 on either Solaris 2.6, 2.7 or on Solaris 8. From the
windows world it's quite a good assumption to go for 'newer isbetter /
more stable' but I'm not sure if I can transfer this to the Solaris
world as well.
Thanks for your input!

WLS connectionPool failed with DB2 in Mainframe (solaris)
Hi All,
I set up IAM DB2 connect client in my win 2003, and connect to DB2 in mainframe
(Solaris), it works fine with IBM DB2 command processor. When I tried to set up
a connection pool from WLS8.1 (win2003), I test driver configuration and got the
following error:
" [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL0332N There is no available conversion for the source code
page "1208 UNKNOWN 3" to the target code page "". Reason Code "". SQLSTATE=57017
I exactly follow the instruction from "programming Weblogic JDBC" (BEA doc): set
PATH and CLASSPATH in startWeblogic.cmd, ...
Thanks a lot for any help.

Hi, Joe,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. Reallly appreciate it.
We are a big user of DB2 in Mainframe. I installed IBM DB2 connect_7.2 from
our product CD. I did not run from any java program. Only run from it's
"command line procssor" (I can run sql statement from here, just like
Oracle's SQL*Plus. That's means IBM DB2 Client is working on my Win2003.
Thanks a lot for any help.Ok, but I may need some help from you too. Tell me what the properties are
for the pool you defined. I'll try to write a simple test program. If you can try to
find any java jdbc examples in the DB2 connect install, it would simplify things.
My current suspicion is that the problem is a configuration issue with either
the IBM driver or DBMS, and most likely the driver.
You should also try the IBM newsgroups if there is such, for JDBC. Just
post asking for an explanation of that exception,
" [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL0332N There is no available conversion for the
source code page "1208 UNKNOWN 3" to the target code page "".
Reason Code "". SQLSTATE=57017"
and you may get the answer quicker than me!

Problem with WLST in weblogic application server 10.3 on solaris 10 x86
Hi Friends, I installed Sun Solaris 10 on my desktop x86. I am able to install oracle weblogic application server 10.3.
I created one domain and I am trying to start AdminServer on that using WLST command.
Before that , I started the admin server from command as normal start ( nohup ./startWebLogic.sh &) and the server started perfectly alright. After that I was trying to open admin console in firefox browser. It was opening perfectly alright.
Now I stopped the server and checked no processes which are related to weblogic were running , and then initialized the WLST environment using the script "wlst.sh" , which is at (in my system) /usr/bea/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/wlst.sh. Now the environment had been set and the WLST offline prompt came up.
Now I used the below WLST scirpt command
startServer('AdminServer','mydomain','t3://localhost:7001','weblogic','weblogic1');
and the server started perfectly alright, now what I did was , I started admin console at FireFox browser , it prompted me to enter user name and password , I gave them , and once the login is done, then in my shell window , I am seeing error as

So I thought I have less memory consuming for this weblogic admin server and opened up ,
_/usr/bea/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/commEnv.sh_
and changed the memory arguments as
Sun)
JAVA_VM=-server
MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m" <---- previously these were 32m and 200m and MaxPermSize
and also in /usr/bea/wlserver10.3/common/bin/bin/setDomainEnv.sh_
and in this file also I changed the memory arguments as
*if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ] ; then*
*WLS_MEM_ARGS_64BIT="-Xms256m -Xmx512m"*
*export WLS_MEM_ARGS_64BIT*
*WLS_MEM_ARGS_32BIT="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"*
*export WLS_MEM_ARGS_32BIT*
and restarted the server using the WLST command and again tried to open the admin console on a browser, same error is showing.
(1) Environment : Sun Solaris x86
(2) JDK : sun jdk 1.6._17
Please help me what I am doing wrong here and please let me know the solution.
I was trying to install jrockit 1.6 on this since my OS is sun solaris X86 , there is no compatible jrockit version is not there.
Thanks a lot
PeterHi Peter,
As you have mentioned in your Post that
MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m" <---- previously these were 32m and 200m and MaxPermSize
The Setting you have provided is wrong ...that is the reason you are gettingjava.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space. There is a RRation between PermSize and the maximum Heap Size...
Just a Bit Explaination:
Formula:
(OS Level)Process Size = Java Heap (+) Native Space (+) (2-3% OS related Memory)
PermSize : It's a Netive Memory Area Outside of the Heap, Where ClassLoading kind of things happens. In an operating System like Windows Default Process Size is 2GB (2048MB) default (It doesnt matter How much RAM do u have 2GB or 4GB or more)...until we dont change it by setting OS level parameter to increase the process size..Usually in OS like Solaris/Linux we get 4GB process size as well.
Now Lets take the default Process Size=2GB (Windows), Now As you have set the -Xmx512M, we can assume that rest of the memory 1536 Mb is available for Native codes.
(ProcessSize - HeapSize) = Native (+) (2-3% OS related Memory)
2048 MB - 512 MB = 1536 MB
THUMB RULES:
<h3><font color=red>
MaxPermSize = (MaxHeapSize/3) ----Very Special Cases
MaxPermSize = (MaxHeapSize/4) ----Recommended
</font></h3>
In your Case -Xmx (Max Heap Size) and -XX:MaxPermSize both were same ....That is the reason you are getting unexpected results. These should be in proper ration.
What should be the exact setting of these parameters depends on the Environment /Applications etc...
But Just try -Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -XX:MaxPermSize256m
Another recommendation for fine tuning always keep (Xmx MaxHeapSize & Xms InitialHeapSize same).
Thanks

Weblogic crashes with a coredump on solaris
Hi All,
Recently our weblogic server on solaris started to give core dumps.
It doesnt say why it crashed and the only available information are the
coredump file and the log file which is created for that crash. One other
noticable thing was somewhere in the output it said,

Is Oracle 8.0.5 compatible with WebLogic Server 6.1 in the Solaris Environment
We're upgrading from WLS 4.5.1 to 6.1 and are having troubles getting a connection
to the database. It appears to be looking for libgen.so.1 and cannot find it.
Any answers? Thanks for the answer. Where in the 6.1 package is the thin driver?
"Michael Girdley" <[email protected]> wrote:
You may be on a platform that does not support our native JDBC Type II
driver.
I do believe that 8.0.5 from Oracle has been removed from support by
Oracle.
You may also want to try the Oracle thin driver, which is available in
the
6.1 package.

We can't install Solaris 8 - IBM PC SERVER 315
Hello:
We are trying to install Solaris 8 (Intel) (02/02) in an IBM PC Server 315.
Some words about it:
- 128 Mb RAM
- Pentium Pro 200 Mhz
- Adaptec AHA-2940U/2940UW Ultra SCSI in PCI bus1,Slot 4 (Info from Solaris install) (Target 7)
- Hard Disk IBM SCSI (Target 0)
- CD-Rom SCSI IBM CDRM00203 (Target 6 of SCSI) (info from Solaris install)
We have a big problem.
We can't install Solaris from CD.
After Loading kernel , when it begins Searching /dev and /devices...we see this text in the screen repeated a lot of times:
WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci1011,24@2/pci9004,8178@1(adp0):
timeout: abort device, target=6 lun=0
And before this something like it has some problem and begins a resinc ??
Please Could you help us?
Solaris has been purchased from Sun on 12 March 2002
A lot of Thank's!
P.D: Please, excuse my poor English.
A lot of thank's.two other severs wouldn't run the cd either? Break it down a little it will be more solvable. We will create two separate problems with this. First we will check the cd disk itself. Put in another system and install solaris. If that works, move to the cdrom drive....move it to the same computer you just installed solaris on...if it works then it is another problem.

Solaris 9 + IBM DS8100 + Sun FC boards
Hi all
We have a running Solaris 9 (SPARC) which is SAN attached to a HP EVA 3000 and to a HP EVA 5000. This is working perfectly well.
Now I have to make this same server to talk to an IBM DS8100 Storage System, which is not working. My steps:
1) Install sdd 1.6.5
2) touch /reconfigure
3) reboot -- -v
4) echo|format -> no disks from the IBM DS8100
5) updated /kernel/drv/scsi_vhci.conf
6) touch /reconfigure
7) reboot -- -v
8) echo|format -> no disks from the IBM DS8100
The mos strange thing is that the remote DS8100 FC board is seen as a disk and not a array-ctrl

How to setup IBM Trade2 on WLS 6.1 Beta???
Hi all,
I'm currently trying to deploy the IBM Trade2 benchmark application
on WLS 6.1 Beta following the instructions published by BEA.
Unfortunately I still get some error messages and Trade2 does not
work.
Therefore, I would like to know if someone has successfully
deployed Trade2. If yes, could you please send me your EAR file,
the config.xml and the WebLogic start script, so that I can use
it for my tests?
Many thanks for your help and best regards,
ErwinLooking through the WLS log, notice that the run-time parameter is set with
a Run-Time-Mode of "EJB". This uses IBM's VAJ access beans and does not
work with WLS.
To change:
1. Go to "Configure Trade run-time parameters" page at
http://localhost:7001/WebSphereSamples/TradeSample/servlet/TradeConfigServlet.
There is a link to this page under the "Configuration" section.
2. Set Run-Time Mode to "EJB_ALT".
3. Update Config.
Also, remember to populate the Trade Database.

Hi all,
I'm currently trying to deploy the IBM Trade2 benchmark application
on WLS 6.1 Beta following the instructions published by BEA.

Does SAP support Solaris 10 ZFS filesystem when using DB2 V9.5 FP4?
Hi,
I'm installing NW7 (BI usage). SAPINST has failed in the step "ABAP LOAD due to the DB2 error message
"Unsupported file system type zfs for Direct I/O". It appears my Unix Admin must have decided to set these filesystems as ZFS on this new server.
I have several questions requiring your expertise.
1) Does SAP support ZFS filesystems on Solaris 10 (SPARC hardware)? I can not find any reference in SDN or Service Market Place? Any reference will be much appreciated.
2) How can I confirm my sapdata fielsystems are ZFS?
3) What actions do you recommend for me to resolve the SAPINST errors? Do I follow the note "Note 995050 - DB6: NO FILE SYSTEM CACHING for Tablespaces" to disable "Direct I/O" for all DB2 tablespaces? I have seen Markus Doehr's forum Link:[ thread|Re: DB2 on Solaris x64 - ZFS as filesystem possible?; but it does not state exactly how he overcame the error.
regards
BennyHi Frank,
Thanks for your input.
I have also found the command "zfs list" that would display any ZFS filesystems.
We have also gone back to UFS as the ZFS deployment schedule does not meet this particular SAP BW implementation timeline.
Has any one come across any SAP statement that states NW7 can be deployed with ZFS for DB2 database on Solaris SPARC platform. If not, I'll open an OSS message.
regards
