  • How to connect Weblogic 6.1 and DB2 under OS/390

    Hello,
which JDBC Driver do I need in order to connect Weblogic 6.1 to DB2 OS/390.

In order to use IBM's JDBC driver to connect to DB/2 on the mainframe, you will need to
use DB2Connect. You can also get third-party drivers from companies such as Neon
Systems that support this without DB2Connect...

Stefan StösselHi. As far as I know, IBM is the only source of JDBC drivers for DB2, so you should
get the appropriate driver from them, for the platform on which you want to run
WebLogic. Once you have this driver, and can connect to your DBMS using the driver's
own simple example programs, show me the few lines of code that make the connection,
and I'll show you how to define a pool so WebLogic can do the same.

  • Weblogic 7.0 and cluster setup

              Hi,
I am new to clustering the weblogic servers. I followed the instructions and
installed the Admin server on a win 2000 machine with a static IP. I also installed
another server on a Windows NT machine with static IP. I created the domain on
the Admin server and followed the instructions for the managed server also.
Now when I try to start the managed server through startmanagedserver script,
I get an error about the machine with the managed server being not available or
              the port being in use.
I am not sure how to trouble shoot this problem.
Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
              Thanks

I have similar setup of cluster. The cluster works fine. I have two
              Windows 2000 servers: W2KS01 and W2KS02.
W2KS01 has Weblogic admin server on port 7001 and a managed server on port
              8001
W2KS02 has a managed server on port 8001
Make sure you have modified the managed server startup script to point to
              right admin server.

  • Weblogic 6.1 and JVM 1.4 on Solaris

I know this combination is not officially supported, but I would like to be
able to try it in a test system for comparative purposes.
I saw a previous mail on this subject indicating it was possible (reproduced
below). I tried creating the Solaris equivalent of the file as
    /usr/j2sdk1.4.0/jre/lib/security/login.config with the contents:
    ServerLoginModule {
    com.sun.security.auth.module.UnixLoginModule required debug=true;
This made no difference to the output (also reproduced below)
    I have two questions:
    - Have I done something wrong (file owner/permissions?) or is there
something else I need to do to make this work?
    - Is there anywhere else I can place this file - on the CLASSPATH perhaps -
I tried this a bit but I didn't get anywhere.

LiThe BEA WebLogic Type 4 JDBC driver for DB2 (the "DB2 driver") supports:
DB2 Universal Database (UDB) 7.1, 7.2, and 8.1 on Windows NT, Windows 2000,
Windows 2003, Windows XP, UNIX, Linux, and Linux/s390 via DRDA
    DB2 6.1 and DB2 UDB 7.1 running on OS/390 and z/OS via DRDA
    DB2 UDB V4R5, V5R1, and V5R2 running on iSeries and AS/400
Note: This documentation uses the following terms to describe the different DB2 versions:
"DB2 UDB" refers to all versions of DB2 running on Windows, UNIX, and Linux/s390 platforms
"DB2 OS/390" refers to all versions of DB2 on OS/390 and z/OS platforms
"DB2 iSeries" refers to all versions of DB2 on iSeries and AS/400

  • Best Practice to Setup an application to work with both oracle and db2 db

    Hi,
We have an application that currently supports both oracle and db2 databases . It is currently using JPA with eclipselink as backend mechanism and we want to move to ADFBc as our backend . So what is best practice to do this?
I came across an old post in https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/adf-methodology/UlJZSTu14Io that states to create two different model projects to support oracle and db2 .
Is this still the standard ? Is there a way that we could work around rather than creating multiple projects?
How do i get the view controller to work with multiple model projects if this is the case?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response .
The problem is i would have the same schema on both the databases (both in oracle and db2) .
I don't see a scenario where i want both the application model projects at the same time . What i meant is , Application will either be deployed with Oracle DB or DB2 but not with both on a production environment .
So is there a way where i just change the connection parameters alone rather having two different models ?
If i have to use two model projects ,  would it be possible say i built the view controller for Oracle , and use it for DB2 if i make sure the BC objects names are similar between model projects and switch just the model jar based on the deployment environment ?

I have Solaris 10 10/09 running on a SPARC machine.

Modifying the connection in the xml to lower the max pool size back to the default value of 15 doesn't net any progress.
Removing and re-creating the connection doesn't fix the problem. Creating a new WebLogic domain doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that fixes the problem (allows the jdbc connection to be re-created and run successfully) is to blow away the entire WebLogic install, reinstall and re-create the domain. Occasionally even this doesn't help.
    This is repeatable like clockwork.
Moving the pool max up to 30 didn't throw the error, but moving to 50 did.

Hi. I've never seen anything like this, and it seems to be something which
the JDBC module is going to be an innocent victim of, rather than a
contributor to... Your best course is to open an official support case.

  • WebLogic 9.2 and Apache 2.2.X

Does anyone know whether BEA supports WebLogic 9.2 with Apache 2.2.X web server? If so, is there any documentation? Which wlproxy do you use? If not, does anyone know when BEA will support this? By the way, we are running on Solaris 10. Thanks!

As far as I am aware there are on only plugins for Apache 1.3.x and 2.0.x.
I believe the documentation for WLS9 recommends Apache 2.0.x using a multi-threading mpm such as worker. This is what I use on our setups both Solaris (9 & 10) and Linux (RHEL 4)

Thanks a lot for any help.Ok, but I may need some help from you too. Tell me what the properties are
for the pool you defined. I'll try to write a simple test program. If you can try to
find any java jdbc examples in the DB2 connect install, it would simplify things.
My current suspicion is that the problem is a configuration issue with either
the IBM driver or DBMS, and most likely the driver.
You should also try the IBM newsgroups if there is such, for JDBC. Just
post asking for an explanation of that exception,
" [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL0332N There is no available conversion for the

Thanks a lot for any help.Hi. Does IBM's jdbc driver come with any simple example programs? If

  • How to install and configure RSYNC on Solaris 10 SPARC

I am trying to setup two Solaris boxes to sync their two mount points in real time using RSYNC. If any update happens on Server A it should reflect on server B automatically. Use CRON or as system SERVICE, which is best? Servers are on WAN link and are running RSYNC from Sunfreeware.com. Thanks in advance...

NFS can be painfully slow over a WAN. rsync in a compressed SSH tunnel (especially with the HPN patches) can be significantly faster.
It seems to me the choice isn't between cron and a service. You're always going to need to schedule the jobs via cron because the system isn't going to tell you when it needs to run. it's between the client talking to an RSYNC daemon or talking to a standard communication channel (like SSH) and spawning the other rsync.
If you need something more than periodic syncs, you could look into AVS. That is a more complex but more powerful solution for some needs. [http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Project+avs/]
I never use the rsync daemon because I already understand the authentication schemes I have set up for SSH. So leveraging that makes sense.

  • Document on 10g RAC setup on solaris using vmware

    Hi All,
I am planning to setup "Oracle 10g RAC setup on Solaris using vmware", but I am strucked up at installation of Soaris 10 in VMWare.
Can any body please help/provide me the document on Solaris 10 installation for RAC setup .
The main problems I am having during the SOlaris 10 setup is
    1) Setting up the static public and private addresses required for RAC
    2) Partitioning the disk space.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Non-anonymous FTP setup on Solaris 8

I'd like to set up FTP access on my Solaris 8 (Sparc) box. However, I don't want people to use real system accounts on the server to log in. Is it possible?
For example, on Widnows platform, I can install WS_FTP Server from IPSwitch, which maintains its own list of FTP users (thus no users are set up at the OS level). Can the default FTP Server on Solaris 8 do such thing? What about WU FTPD?
Any helps are very much appreciated!

    Thanks Jeffrey!
Can you also shed some lights on this:
The default FTP server setup on Solaris seems to allow a system user to go anywhere(if he has permissions to) once he ftps in. For example, once I ftp in as myself, I am in my home directory. I can cd to, say, /etc and do a get on the passwd file and read it on my local machine. Being able to read the passwd file does not do much harm, but just wondering if there is a way to restrict the valid system user to his home directory and its subdirectories once logged in.
    Thanks again!

  • Time Zone issue with 7.0 and DB2

    Hi,
We are having a time zone issue with weblogic server 7.0 and DB2 database. I would really appreciate if somebody provides a solution for this issue.
Our db2 DB is located in PST time zone and weblogic server is located in EST time zone.
When we access current timestamp from db2, we are getting PST time converted to EST and EST time zone attached with timestamp value.
I tried to use resultset.getTimeStamp (1,<calendar>), unfortunately this method is not supported in the DB2 driver version I am using.
We want to get same value as returned by db2 with db2 time zone not weblogic server time zone.
And also when we add new record with timestamp column through web service, regardless the time zone value sent by web service client ".Net" ,
Weblogic server converts the java.util.Date value to weblogic time zone and stores in the db.
For example, client sent 17:00 hours CST, but when it gets stored in db through weblogic ws, weblogic converts 17:00 to 18:00 EST and stores in database as 18:00 hours without any time zone. When we read this value back, we are getting it 18:00 EST only not 17:00 CST.
This is fine as long as writing and reading by same weblogic server. If another weblogic server instance in PST time zone read this value, it takes as 18:00 PST.
Due to this our application always shows timestamp hours differently.
Could some body help me to fix this problem, we are getting this problem in production after we moved our DB2 location to different time zone.
    Thanks
    Balaji
