WebLogic 6.1 server hung issues

Our WebLogic 6.1 server hangs up around 12 times a day. We had this same issue
using WebLogic 5.1.
The hang ups started when we had some code changes and moved from a 8.1.7 oracle
database to using a 9.2 oracle database connecting using an oracle thin jdbc driver
on a sun solaris box.
Any ideas what might be causing our server to hang?

yes we are running on unix ..
we are running 2 weblogic instances but on different port...
one on 7001 and other on 7003 ...
and if one background process already running on 7001 ..then i think it is impossible for OS to assign this port to weblogic instance..
but we are facing problem in this way...that we start weblogic server ..it stared.and works ...for few hours..
and in between ...we find below error ...

Cisco NAC server hang issue

Hi All Cisco NAC Experts, I am currently experiencing a Cisco NAC NAC3315-SVR hang issue.
The issue was already happened for few time on the same server and the symptom when NAC server hung includes no response to ICMP ping, no response to SSH request, no response for access request to CAS management page via https, HA pair was detected down from its HA neighbor and triggered failover to secondary CAS.
The CAS server was recovered after manually power cycle the hardware.
After went through the attachment CAS logs, I found all the services and logging service were stopped when the issue happening but unfortunately there is no any suspicious activity was logged down before or during the issue happening.
I have also tried to search on Cisco Bug Toolkit but no similar case was found, I believe it was not caused by software bug due to the software version 4.8.1 is running in my company for years and only one CAS server having the issue.
That will be great if any one can help me out for the same.

Hi Bro
This could be a problem with the certificate in that Cisco NAC appliance itself. My suggestion is to redo the certificate generation between the CAS CAM and CA Server. If this still doesn’t work, it could also be due to overload/broadcast storm on the LAN portion. This can be verified via Wireshark.
If all else fail, then a hardware swap would seem like the next best thing.

Weblogic 8.1 Server log size increase in Production environment

Hi,
Issue:: One of the log file is increasing in size and exceeding beyond the size mentioned in the configuration file resulting in application outage.
Issue description:
We are having problems with the log size in the Weblogic 8.1 server. The fileminsize has been mentioned in the config.xml.
New log files like MYsvr.log00001,MYsvr.log00002, MYsvr.log00003, MYsvr.log00004 etc are also being generated appropriately when the max file size has been reached. But simultaneously, one of the files is growing in size, exceeding the limit mentioned in the configuration file. Eg.. the MYsvr.log00001 file is 800MB in size while the other files(MYsvr.log00002, MYsvr.log00003 etc are 10MB in size)
This increase in size of the log has been resulting in an application outage.
More Details:
1. Server: BEA Weblogic 8.1 server
2. Log size is fine in other environements. This is a problem only in the production environment.
3. The entry in the config.xml is as follows:

Oracle service registy server startup issue.

I have installed the oracle service registry . After that i have created the OSR specific domain in weblogic server as per the OSR installation guide.
admin server and osr_server1 instances created in that domain.
when i am trying to start OSR server from weblogic admin console server is not starting.
it is showing the follwing messages.
For server osr_server1, the Node Manager associated with machine osr_machine1 is not reachable.
All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed.
if anybody have idea on above issue. please provide inputs.

Hi,
First thing, do you have a Node Manager running?
Go to the console and check on Environment > Machines > <your machine> > Monitoring > Node Manager Status...
It should say "Reachable" and the version number...
If your Node Manager is running there is a nodemanager.log file in $MW_HOME\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager... Tell us what you see there...

Remote Debugging Oracle Weblogic 10.3 Server to Eclipse

Hi All,
I need to know a suitable way to link my eclipse debugger to Remotely running Weblogic 10.3 server. I have tried downloading server plugin in Eclipse and created a new one. I got it created. But when i try to start it, its throwing error as it cant be started. Please help me out in this issue.

Don't use the preview version, use the production version.
Really, don't use the preview - it was based on OC4J and not Weblogic, you will not be able to deploy anything to a production environment with the preview release.

How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?

I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:

The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

Taking long time to start when weblogic 11g admin server

Hi
When I ran following command in linux 64-bit environmnt to start weblogic 11g admin server, it is taking such a long time (some time it is taking one and half hour, some time it is taking 24 hours and still showing work under process)
$HOME/Middleware/user_projects/domains/soa_domain/startWebLogic.sh -Dweblogic.management.username=weblogic -Dweblogic.management.password=weblogic$123 > server.log &
Please help me out.
Linux OS 64-bit installaed

How much memory have you configured for the servers?
When the memory (Xmx and Xms - JVM parameters) is too small start-up times can get long.

   I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right.It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
    I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
