Weblogic 6.1 sp1 Application Server MDB does not consume messages

I have the following situation:
WebLogic Application Server 6.1 sp1. A deployed mdb does nothing - just sits idle
even when the JMS queue it points to has many messages waiting to be consumed.
When the application server is bounced (i.e., shutdown and restarted), the mdb
starts processing the messages. JMS server has a JDBC backing store.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Prakash

Tobin is right, my apoplication is called "portal", I am not using WLPortal. Anyway,
I managed to resolve my problem,I had sax2 , xp and xt parsers placed in the WEB-INF\lib
directory of my application in addition to my own jar file. I removed the parsers
, and now my application is running fine.
It is strange though, since my application used to load and work flawlessly on
weblogic 6 as well as weblogic 6.1 sp1 with the parsers in the lib directory....
Anyhow, thanks a lot for the help.

Lalitha

Having applied WLS 6.1 sp2 upgrade today I am seeing the same fault.
I am not using
WL Portal. Also I think the original poster's application just happens
to be called
"portal" and is not using WL Portal.
cheers,
Tobin.

It used to run fine on 6.1 sp1 .
I am attaching the weblogic.log file with this msg.

  • Application Server Control does not ask for password

    Hi all-
    I just installed App Server (as part of Collaboration Suite) and am working on security. For some reason, the App Server Control for the apps tier does not ask for a username/password. Anyone know how to fix that glaring hole? Infrastructure does ask for user/pass, just not apps.
    Thanks!

    I had to clear authenticated sessions AND cookies (in Firefox). Clearing only one or the other isn't enough.

  • Oracle 10g AS 10.1.3 cluster : Topic MDB does not receive messages

    Dear experts,
    We have the latest Oracle 10g AS 10.1.3 cluster, which consists of two nodes.
    Background: Our application is a J2EE app extensively using JMS for communicating notifications between cluster nodes. It does work fine in standalone OC4J, clustered WebLogic and clustered SAP WebAS.
    Application is deployed without any errors to Oracle AS. It works fine with 1 cluster node, it 'half' works when second node is added.
    The cluster does recognize both nodes - we can administer and see them fine from the console.
    The problem application experiences is this:
    1. The application MDBs do not seem to receive any messages sent from another node. Only messages submitted from the same JVM are ever seen. This leads to incosistency in server caches.
    2. JNDI tree updates made from one node are also not visible on the other and vice versa.
    We tried it on a single physical server with 2 App Server instances and on 2 physical servers.
    I followed standard instructions on how to configure clustered environment - basically all we could do after we installed two instances was we turned on the PEER clustering for our application.
    Firewalls are also turned off on both servers.
    I would really appreciate any piece of advice because we're really stuck at this point!
    Thank you!

    Hi Peter,
    Can you just install 10.1.3 on top of another AS installation?You can't install an Oracle Application Server on top of another version. The 10.1.3 install needs to have its own Oracle Home. However, you can configure a 10.1.3 install to use OHS 10.1.2 and to use OID 10.1.2 as its identity management store.
    Can you install 10.1.3 standalone?Absolutely. You can download it from:

  • Migrating applciation from weblogic to oracle 9i application server(OC4J)??????

    Hi,
    I am migrating my ejb application from weblogic to oracle 9i application server.What changes are needed to be made in code and what configuration changes are required.
    In my application i use a couple of session beans wherin a session bean calls the method of the other session bean which acceses the database.I am using a jdbc thin driver for the database connection. is it possible for a session bean to call a method of another session bean which access the database??This concept works well in weblogic where the current application is running.
    The problem is that while migrating the application to the orion server, it gives an OrionCMTException ...
    memory leak..etc.
    Could any one clarify.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi Avi and Harrison,
    Cease Fire avi!!!!.First of all let me clear the issue of posting the same problem twice.Well, when i mentioned the problem the first time , i found the title session bean deployment was not right and few people would look into it as it was a common problem so i thought it would be appropriate if i mentioned the title correctly , so i posted the query again with the change in title.
    Now coming to the answer for ur questions.
    The platform used is MS Windows NT.
    The (OC4J) version is 1.0.2.2.1.
    I am not using JDeveloper.
    The database is oracle 8i and i am using the thin driver.
    The beans to be deployed are stateless session beans.
    The client involved is a web client i.e a jsp application.

  • CF8 Application Server Service Will NOT Start

    I ran into this error:
         java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    and after researching it it seemed that I should up the max heap size on the Java/JVM page, so I increased my max heap size to 1044MB from 512, via the CF Administrator, I also added maxPermSize= 256m.  Then I restarted the server, but the Application Server service will not start.
    I opened home/runtim/bin/jvm.config and set the heap size to 1024, restart, service still wont start.
    Set the max heap size to 512 and removed maxPermSize, restarted server, service still won't start.
    Set the entire java.args equal to: -server -Xmx256m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -xx:MaxPermsize=128m -XX:+UseParallelGC -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/../ -Dcoldfusion.libPath={application.home}/../lib -Dcoldfusion.classPath={application.home}/../lib/updates,{application.home}/../lib,{appli cation.home}/../gateway/lib/,{application.home}/../wwwroot/WEB-INF/flex/jars,{application. home}/../wwwroot/WEB-INF/cfform/jars
    Restarted, still the services will not start.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    The error I get when trying to start the services is:
    Windows could not start the ColdFusion 8 Application Server on Local Computer.  For more information, review the System Even Log.  If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refore to service-specific error code 2.
    Thanks!

    Once you have ColdFusion running again this will bring you back to your initial problem:
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    Suggest take a copy of your working JVM.CONFIG (so you have a backup) then add some debugging to the JVM Arguments eg:
    # Arguments to VM
    java.args=-server  -Xmx512m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGC -verbose:gc -Xloggc:cfjvmGC.log -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/../ -Dcoldfusion.libPath={application.home}/../lib -Dcoldfusion.classPath={application.home}/../lib/updates,{application.home}/../lib,{appli cation.home}/../gateway/lib/,{application.home}/../wwwroot/WEB-INF/flex/jars,{application. home}/../wwwroot/WEB-INF/cfform/jars
    Once ColdFusion is restarted again a log file will be created called \ColdFusion8\runtime\bin\cfjvmgc.log. Open the log file and you will be able to see how the New, Tenure and Permanent memory spaces are working. Given you now know which buffer is filling (excluding New made up of Eden and a couple Survivor spaces - because those fill and empty all the time) you can make adjustments to JVM.CONFIG knowing which value you intend to alter. Likely you want to alter either Xmx or MaxPermSize. When you think the Java heap space is resolved turn logging off by removing the bolded details.

    I have several modules that read and write data to and from Excel 2010 worksheets. I am noticing that the Excel process does not end aven though Excel is not running on my PC. It is like an orphan process. If I try running the Access module again I get the

    What's the model number of your Lexmark printer?

    System keeps looking for a 'server' that does not exist. Is says the old name of my Airport Extreme. Clicking it away (4x) finally  gets through.

    Other weirdness to report: my neighbor upstairs appears to have a Linksys router network on channel 6. My AEBS is on channel 1 so there shouldn't be interference... but according to iStumbler sometimes the signal leaps to 64000 (keep in mind my own Airport never tops 60)! Is that potentially the problem?
    Might it be possible that your neighbor just acquired a 802.11n (pre-N) wireless router recently?
    802.11n effectively increases capacity by doubling the number of Wi-Fi radios and increasing the number of antennas used to push signals out of those radios. 802.11n splits a data frame into multiple pieces. It then transmits these pieces in parallel using multiple radios that are attached to multiple antennas. These antennas blast out signals from virtually the same vantage point – scattering the signals everywhere.
    You may find the following ZDNet article interesting: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=247
    Even if he did not, and you are on good terms, you might want to ask if he can temporarily turn off his wireless, or, at least, reduce the signal strength to see if that will help in your situation.

It was throwing me error as below and not being to save the trigger. Also i have taken out the update satement, it is not being compile. I have done many excercise that drop the trigger and re-create the trigger with new name, and same name. It gives me the same error.
    RA-20102: Application collection PLSQL_OBJECT_SOURCE does not exist
    I have no idea to move further. I have already search similar thread in this forum and tried their suggest. I have no luck to get compile.
    Please help me.

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your help.
    Currently am using APEX 3.1 and XE 10.2..0.1.0 DB.
    Please find below is my actual trigger. This trigger is working fine without any issue
    create or replace trigger "OPNS_STOCK_INBOUND_TRN_TRG"
    BEFORE
    insert on "OPNS_STOCK_INBOUND_TRN"
    for each row
    declare
    l_open_stock number(13,3);
    l_close_stock number(13,3);
    l_trn_id number ;
    l_max_id number ;
    l_max_id1 number ;
    begin
    if inserting then
    if :NEW.OUTBOUND_TRN_GAGES <> 0 then
    -- Get the last record of ID in opns_stock_inbound_trn table
    select nvl(max(trn_id),-1) into l_max_id from opns_mixing_inbound_trn;
    select nvl(max(trn_id),-1) into l_max_id1 from opns_stock_inbound_trn;
    -- There is no record, get -1 then Openning stock always zero
    if l_max_id < 0 then
    l_open_stock := 0;
    else
    -- Get the openning stock as previous record's closing stock
    select nvl(close_stock,0) into l_open_stock from opns_mixing_inbound_trn where trn_id = l_max_id;
    end if ;
    -- There is no record, get -1 then Openning stock always zero
    if l_max_id1 < 0 then
    :NEW.open_stock := 0;
    else
    -- Get the openning stock as previous record's closing stock
    select nvl(close_stock,0) into :NEW.open_stock from opns_stock_inbound_trn where trn_id = l_max_id1;
    end if ;
    -- calculate inbound gages for stock
    l_close_stock := l_open_stock + :NEW.outbound_trn_gages ;
    -- Deducting outgoing gages in open stock and update as close stock
    :NEW.close_stock := :NEW.open_stock - :NEW.outbound_trn_gages ;
    -- Get the trn_id from table to update the opns_mixing_inbound table
    select max(trn_id) into l_trn_id from opns_mixing_inbound_trn;
    :NEW.OUT_MIX_TRN_ID := l_trn_id ;
    -- trn_id=1 for Inbound in overall
    update opns_overall_trn set trn_date=:NEW.trn_date, open_stock=:NEW.open_stock,
    close_stock=:NEW.close_stock, remarks='OPNS_STOCK_INBOUND_TRN_TRG', update_date=sysdate
    where trn_id=1;
    end if ;
    end if;
    end;
    I am trying to add below insert statement to the above trigger.
    -- inserting a entry in transaction table for mixing
    insert into opns_mixing_inbound_trn (trn_id, trn_date, open_stock, inbound_trn_gages, outbound_trn_gages, close_stock)
    values (opns_mixing_inbound_trn_seq.nextval, trn_date, l_open_stock, 0, :NEW.outbound_trn_gages, l_close_stock);
    I am firing this trigger when i insert a record in OPNS_STOCK_INBOUND_TRN table, the trigger should update OPNS_OVERALL_TRN table and insert another record to OPNS_MIXING_INBOUND_TRN table.
    Please update me the right solution.
    Thank you,
    Regards

  • How do i delploy on hosted server which does not support crystal. Is RAS ?

    have to put a solution on a public hosted server. it does not support crystal . cannot add to GAC
    if i use RAS(or cr 2008 server) on another server . Web app works on public server but points to my RAS server. Do I still need components on the public server. if I do this will not work,
    any ideas
    John

    many thanks. there is some tendancy to cloud hosts. all you get is ftp access and .net ompersonation.
    just drop the webisite in. so no MSI use which also rules out merged modules

  • C# error when connecting to ldap server that does not exist

    When using Novell.Directory.Ldap.dll and making a connect to an ldap
    server which does not exists i'm getting the following error:
    Connection.freeWriteSemaphore(-2): semaphore not owned by any thread
    Im using this to connect: conn.Connect(ldapHost, ldapPort);
    This error is not catched by LdapException. Can anyone tell me if this is
    a bug or do I have to do something different.

    Hi. I'm using version 2.1.11 of the NDK for CSharp. I'm getting this
    same error message:
    Code:
    Connection.freeWriteSemaphore(-2): semaphore not owned by any thread
    at Novell.Directory.Ldap.Connection.freeWriteSemaphor e(Int32 msgId)
    at Novell.Directory.Ldap.Connection.connect(String host, Int32 port, Int32 semaphoreId)
    at Novell.Directory.Ldap.LdapConnection.Connect(Strin g host, Int32 port)
    at TestLDAP.Program.Main(String[] args) in D:\Documents and Settings\tjbuege\my documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\TestLDAP\TestLDAP\Program.cs:line 20
    This occurs when I try to bind to a server that does not exist. Here
    is my sample source code that generates that error:
    Code:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using Novell.Directory.Ldap;
    namespace TestLDAP
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    LdapConnection conn = null;
    string host = "server.does.not.exist.com";
    int port = 389;
    try
    conn = new LdapConnection();
    conn.Connect(host, port);
    catch (Exception ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
    Console.WriteLine(ex.StackTrace);
    if (conn != null)
    conn.Disconnect();
    Is there a fix for this? It makes this library useless for me.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    When you insert data from SQL Server into a linked server, then a distributed transaction should be started and here it seems this fails.

    What quite often fixes it so to try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if you can send emails from the account
