Weblogic  and OBIEE clustering.

Dear all,
Actually this is my first time to work with OBIEE 10G cluster , i successfully configured the following :
(1-)configured ( NQSConfig.INI, NQClusterConfig.INI ,odbc.ini, and instanceconfig.xml) successfully for each linux box.
(2-)Test is done for each node and yes all of the log files ensure that the cluster in working fine, also i am able to access the answers per each node in the cluster.
BUT
The question now is how to configure these nodes to be hosted with weblogic as one node (single URL)
(as simple talk what is the URL should i give to the end user to access the cluster not seperate machine) ???
I read this post
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1123127&tstart=-1&messageID=4568624
but still NOT GET FULL understanding for the solution please,
provide simple steps to configure the weblogic to handle this issue.
Thanks inadvance......................

sorry about this error for error the browser repeating the same post, the browser does not redirect me to the fourm page , may i ask the moderator to delete the other 3 posts

I know that we need to install weblogic first and then OBIEE11g - SOFTWARE ONLY .

ThanksRefer to this link for instructions on installation: http://satyaobieesolutions.blogspot.in/2012/08/obiee-installation-on-aix-obiee-11g.html
It is usually recommended to use the same user because of the issues with permissions on the files and folders when using different accounts for installating different components.

  • Discoverer and OBIEE configured on same weblogic server

Can Oracle BI Discoverer 11G and OBIEE 11G be configured on the same weblogic server?

Did you mean the same weblogic server instance?
Most likely, what you can do is to install those 2 components as independent server instances and keep those under the same domain. Each would require 4GB of available memory (physical + swap).
    Thanks.

  • How to create a second OracleBIApplication in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g?

I want to create a second OracleBIApplication in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g. The default one is called "coreapplication". I can create a new one but it doesn't show up in Enterprise Manager. Anyone can help?

I have been trying to create a second OracleBIApplicatino in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g without success. I don't want to end up installing it twice as it is going to consume a lot of resources and also because I want to have a single WebLogic Domain. Has anyone faced the same situation?
What about deploying the "analytics" web application as a new web application with a different context-root (e.g. analytics_test)? I am also trying but I can't make it work. Anyone available to help?

  • Difference Between OBIEE 10g and OBIEE 11g

    Hi everyone,
I have a doubt when choosing two versions of OBIEE, 10g and 11g.
Actually, is there any big difference between 10g and 11 version ?
From the point of view of easiness finding tutorial in internet, simplicity of using the tool, and other considerations, which one is better ?
I hope you guys could also explain with your arguments.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Few differences..
    Architectures-
    OBIEE 11g architecture...http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/09/obiee-11gr1-architecture-and-use-of-weblogic-server/
    OBIEE 10g architecture....http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/obiee_overview
    Features-
New features in OBIEE11g...Re: OBIEE 11g
    http://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/2010/07/new_administration_features_of.html
I have a doubt when choosing two versions of OBIEE, 10g and 11g.If you are new to OBIEE its best to start with 10g,there are lot changes in 11g.It takes time to get used to it and you many not get enough docs or material to read, may face some new issues also.
Actually, is there any big difference between 10g and 11 version ? Yes there are some differences between them...you can see them in above links.(many things like graphs, server)
From the point of view of easiness finding tutorial in internet, simplicity of using the tool, and other considerations, which one is better ?For sure obiee 10g as 11g is new many of them just started using it,so you may get less help on this if you face issues & may not get enough tutorial in internet and OBIEE10g is bit easy to use.
Its best to you go for OBIEE10g,parallely you can try 11g.

  • Does killing an instance of weblogic in a clustered environment hurt?

I just got moved to a group responsible for web hosting within the company that I work for. I was looking at how they do things with regards to weblogic and deploying/trouble shooting apps. They have many apps, each developed by a different person. All of the apps are deployed under the same clustered two instances of weblogic. To redeploy they kill weblogic then restart it, one instance at a time. They tell me that since weblogic is clustered killing one instance doesn't affect the users on the site. Also, they frequently do thread dumps saying that this doesn't affect the users experience either. Is this correct?

Did anyone found a solution to this problems. I have been seeing this issues for day I can figure it out.
It seems to be some sort of issue with credentials between my admin server and managed server1

  • Weblogic and websphere colocated?

Has anyone ever had any experience running weblogic and websphere on the same machine? If so, what were your issues?
    Thanks in advance.

Web sphere has a wide robust features which weblogic lacks some. Like the load balancing and admin console, clustering .
In Weblogic In many cases, code for applications deployed on WebLogic Server is arbitrarily structured and depends on the build process to make sense of it all. The implication of this is that existing code organization will very likely have to be changed as part of the migration effort. This may be very difficult (or even impossible) to accomplish while maintaining links to your code's history. Some organizations choose simply to archive their history and start fresh.
In WebSphere, Packaged with each module is an XML deployment descriptor that describes the organization of the components in the module and how they are configured at run time. hence applications can be migrated easily.

In the case of WL6 and WL7 clustering, if the requests from the same user jump
around different instances, we experience this kind of session loss problem very
frequently. I am not sure if this is the same case for WL5. The idea is, find
a way to make sure the requests from the same use always hit the same instance
              unless it is dwon.

  • What is difference between Weblogic and OSB

    Hi,
    The title says it all.
What is the difference between Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Service Bus?
Assuming both products are part of the Oracle strategy, when would I use each product?
I am really struggling as I cannot find a link with this information.
    Many thanks
    Jason

    Jason,
Weblogic is application server. Service Bus is a product which runs on top of Weblogic.
You can find plenty information about both products on the web.

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
    Thanks in advance

  • BIP Security (and OBIEE) doesn't seem to work with Subgroups

    Bottom Line Question:
Can security groups be used as subgroups under XMLP_ADMIN, XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE and XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER and OBIEE Administrators? Or do the tools expect that only users can be added here?
Enterprise BIP (10.1.3.3.3) has been configured with BI Server Security. In the BI Repository, 3 groups were created: Repository Administrators, Repository Developers and Report Developers.
Repository Administrators group was added to XMLP_ADMIN and Administrators. The users in the group do not see the Admin Tab.
The Report Developers group was added as a subgroup to XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE, XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER. BIP Developers were then added to the Report Developers group in the BI Repository. In BIP, Report Developers was given permissions to the top level report folders under Shared Folders.
When a BIP developer logs in, they are able to see View the reports and look at History but not Edit or Configure.
I have tried other combinations of this set up with various results but none of them the desired result.
    Has anyone tried this?

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and OBIEE 11.1.1.6 Installation on same system.

    Hi All,
Is it possible to have OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.6 on same system?
I know this is not practical and kind of unrecommended thing to do. But we have an OBIEE 11.1.1.5 instance installed on a server. And we don't want to deinstall it. Rather, if possible, we want to install OBIEE 11.1.1.6 along with this 11.1.1.5 instance.
Also, is it possible to have OBIEE 10g and OBIEE 11g on one system?
    Thanks in advance...
    Dev.

    Hi,
Why don't you go with Upgrade option..thats best way...you just upgrade obiee11.1.1.5.0 to 11.1.1.6.0
