Weblogic and Webspehere comparison

Hi All,
Has any one done comparison between weblogic and websphere ? Can I get
the details on how these products compare ?
Thanks
Prasad

I'm trying XSQL Servlet version 1.0.0.0 with Weblogic 5.1.
In my weblogic.properties file I have
weblogic.httpd.register.*.xsql=oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
I also have
weblogic.httpd.servlet.classpath=d:/weblogic/myserver/servletclasses;d:/xsqlservlet_v1_0_
0_0/lib;d:/xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0/lib/oraclexmlxsql.jar;d:/xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0/lib/oraclex
sql.jar;d:/xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0/lib/xmlparserv2.jar;d:/xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0/lib/classes11
1.zip
I have been getting this error:
java.lang.NoClassDefError: oracle/xml/xsql/XSQLDocHandler ....
This might be caused by some incorrectly assigned classpath (i.e. does the XSQL Servlet classpath go to the weblogic.httpd.classpath or should it be defined in another path or classpath -- Weblogic seems to have several).
Also, some init args can be set for servlets. Which args need to be set for the XSQL Servlet?
In general, what is the configuration with Weblogic?

  • What is difference between Weblogic and OSB

    Hi,
    The title says it all.
What is the difference between Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Service Bus?
Assuming both products are part of the Oracle strategy, when would I use each product?
I am really struggling as I cannot find a link with this information.
    Many thanks
    Jason

    Jason,
Weblogic is application server. Service Bus is a product which runs on top of Weblogic.
You can find plenty information about both products on the web.

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
    Thanks in advance

  • Time "and" Date Comparison

    Hi,
I am trying to get the difference between two sets of time.
This also involves a Date comparison because sometimes the times span more than one day.
Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. I have searched the forum archives but have not yet found time and date comparisons together.
    startRun = "10/26/01 4:30 PM";
    endRun = "10/27/01 7:45PM";
I want to process these two times and get the difference.
    The result would be:
    totalRunTime = "27 hours 15 minutes";
I am stumped. Is this type of process even possible? Any help would be grealty appreciated.

  • Weblog and Groups

I have the weblog up and running on our 10.4.8 server. I can log in to weblog with my short username and password.
So now I would like to create a group weblog so multiple users can make entries to a single blog. In WGM I created a group called "Technology" and added myself to the group. I go to http://server/weblog/ and type in the short name of the group... "Tech". That sends me to http://servername/weblog/Tech/?createUserID=Tech a page that appears as the Technology weblog with the Login option on the right side. So I click "Login", type in my short username and password (the very same one that worked to log in to the weblog before) and get: "The username or password you entered is incorrect".
A previous thread mentioned going in to Server Admin-> Settings --> Access and changing the Weblog settings. So I did. The default is "Allow all users and groups" which should logically include my newly created group. However, just to satisfy my curiosity, I changed to "Allow only users and groups below:" and added just the "Technology" group. While I could log into the blog by going straight in with my username... again, I could not log in to the "Tech" blog with the same username/password.
    I'm out of ideas.
    Xserve G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Well... after moving the Weblogs directory to another hard drive and creating a new group, everything works as expected. I'm guessing permissions got whacked somewhere in the process of creating the first group.
    Problem solved.

  • JMS with weblogic and jdeveloper IDE

    HI,

...I have a strong feeling this is a TIBCO-related issue where you're not doing the lookup the way TIBCO likes.

  • Mule, Weblogic and MQ JMS : deadlock problem

    Dear Oracle community,
We are hosting our Mule ESB (3.1) application on a Weblogic 10.3 (11g) server and are using IBM Websphere MQ's JMS solution (with libraries version 7.0.1.7).
The problem we are facing is that JMS connections are created by one of Weblogic's worker (thread) and the close() method for those connections are not necessarily called by the same thread.
This is bad because from what I know this behavior is undefined from JMS specification
(see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/jms/design_best_practices.html#wp1061413 ) and it is a blocker issue in our case because this lead to a deadlock.
Do someone has any idea how to enforce the fact that the same thread do create and close the connection through Weblogic and/or Mule configuration (without re-implementing the connector) ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Best regards,
    Y.
PS : I've already posted this question on Mule ESB's forum : http://forum.mulesoft.org/mulesoft/topics/mule_weblogic_and_mq_jms_deadlock_problem
    Edited by: user7428803 on May 14, 2012 2:26 PM

I hope you found a solution by now, but as an FYI:
    * The JMS specification specifically requires that JMS providers support the ability to call connection.close() and session.close() from an arbitrary thread even when another thread is making calls on these objects. It furthermore goes into some detail about the expected behavior of these calls. The best practices link you cited alludes to this: "The JMS Specification states that multi-threading a session, producer, consumer, or message method results in undefined behavior +except when calling close().+"
    * Depending on your use case, you may not need to use Mule to integrate MQ with WebLogic. WebLogic supports a variety of options for integrating MQ directly without the use of third party tooling. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13727/interop.htm .

  • Weblogic and eclipse help

I want to move to weblogic 10.x from tomcat and I am using Eclipse Helios.
is there any documentation that help me start with weblogic then use eclipse with it.
I already downloaded weblogic and was able to run the examples that comes with it and got the latest Oracle tools for Eclipse. but I know I am missing many pieces (places where i should put a file or changing something in a file) because I could not publish from eclipse.
I appreciate any tips to get me going forward. Also, I am usinf Spring and Hibernate.

    Hi,
Oracle provide a set of Eclipse plugins know as Oracle Enterprise Pack Eclipse. You can find the docs at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/eclipse/documentation/index.html
Otherwise this is an Eclipse question and there are a number of good Eclipse site/forums you can google.

  • SSI with weblogic and JSP

    Hi All
I am sorry, if my question sounds irrelevant.
    1. Can we configure weblogic and apache to use server side includes (SSI) ? If yes please let me know how to do so.
    2. Can I have SSI's in my JSP?
    Thanks
    Prashant

We have used mod_weblogic in apache and added
    Option +Includes
for the location handled by Weblogic.
But still the SSI directives are not processed by apache.
Is there a way for apache to process SSI directives coming from Weblogic?

  • How to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?

    Hi All,
I am new to Weblogic Portal. I would like to start learning Oracle Weblogic Portals..
Can anyone please guide me, how to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?
As per the ""Tutorials – Getting Started with WebLogic Portal"" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/tutorials/setup_dev_env.html)
we need to install the Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal.
Please suggest me where should i get the required environments/IDE?
    Thanks,
    Harish.

    Hi Harish
    1. If this is your first time with Weblogic Portal, I would recommend to download the latest Weblogic Portal Software Rel 10.3.2 from this bottom link. Check Accept Radio button, for windows download windows installer. Its about 1 GB file. This software includes Eclipse IDE, Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
    2. During the installation process, make sure at one point you select Custom mode (NOT default Typical mode). In next following screens you will see all bundles checked EXCEPT for Samples. So make sure you check Samples Check box both under Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. Then proceed. This will install full Weblogic Workshop (Eclipse IDE), Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. This is the good installation package. Also it will install samples for Portal and Server. If you select all default typical mode, it will NOT install samples. You can install samples later on also, but its good at installation time itself you select custom and check Samples also.
    3. WLP 10.3.2 uses Eclipse IDE. If you are familiar with Eclipse IDE this should be helpful. Otherwise also, its ok.
    4. For learning WLP, in Eclipse IDE, you need to create Portal EAR Project, then Portal Web Project. Inside portal web project create simple jsp hello world portlets and a simple portal.
    5. For Deploying and Testing Portal application you need to create Portal Domain using config wizard. You can see this from Start -> Programs -> Oracle Weblogic Portal shortcut -> Weblogic Server -> Tools -> Configuration Wizard.
    6. You can start Workshop IDE from Start -> Program Files -> Oracle Weblogic Portal ...-> Eclipse For Weblogic 10.3.2
Here are the links for quick start guide for portal development. Please do refer them.

  • How to have Weblogic and BAM process run in background

I ssh to the Weblogic (also the BAM) server via putty and use below command to start the weblogic and BAM:
    /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh
    /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1
And then I have no way to have the weblogic and BAM run in backgroup as it needs to ask me for login and password. I cannot close the ssh connection neither otherwise the weblogic and BAM processes will die
    Clay

    Hi Clay,
Both these points can be easily handled.
To start admin server enter the below command with the &. This & will make the process run in background.
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
If you want the logs to be redirected to some file then you can use a nohup as given below
    nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/startWebLogic.sh &
Same holds good for bam serevr also
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
    OR
    nohup . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 &
It will respond to you with the process-id, you can just hit an enter and safely close the putty session while the server is still up & running.
To stop the same, in a new putty session you can enter the below. Here you need not(will not) give &
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/stopWebLogic.sh weblogic welcome1 t3://hostname:port
    . /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin/stopManagedWebLogic.sh bam_server1 t3://hostname:port
    Password:
As you see above we are not passing user-id/password while starting the server. We need to create a file named boot.properties and place it in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/AdminServer/security directory. security directoy will not be present, you have to create it.
Contents of boot.properties file will be only 2lines as below
    username=weblogic
    password=welcome1
On next startup server will encrypt the password.
Same boot.properties file has to be created in /opt/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/bam_server/security location.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle DB schema and data comparison tools that compare BLOBs

I'm looking for schema and data comparison tool like DBDiff or DbTools, but it has to be able to compare BLOB and CLOB fields. I went thru few products available on the market but could not find any that does that.
Can you please recommend tool that will help me with it.
    Thanks,
    E

    Hi.
I use Comparenicus for Oracle from Orbium Software. It compares data and schema, CLOBs, BLOBs..
It can also handle large tables which is very useful for some of my environments.
Last (but not least) it has a unique feature for copying selective data from one DB to another. You can read about it this post:
Efficient way to copy business data from Production DB to Test DB
    Enjoy..

  • Difference b/w Weblogic and SOA

    Hi,
Can anyone briefly differentiate between Weblogic & SOA??
    Thanks,

WebLogic is a brand that has several products, the core of which is an Application Server, which is a runtime container for hosting enterprise java applications.
SOA is an architecture strategy for designing/building software into reusable, standards-based services.
You can use SOA principles to build applications that run on WebLogic, and WebLogic has features that help enable that. Ultimately you can just as easily deploy non-SOA applications to WebLogic Server.
