WebLogic Apache plugin giving 404 for 50% of requests

I have the following configuration on my httpd.conf
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
RequireSSLHostMatch false
Debug ON
EnforceBasicConstraints OFF
HungServerRecoverSecs 5
ConnectRetrySecs 0
KeepAliveEnabled ON
KeepAliveSecs 15
IdemPotent ON
WLLogFile /var/log/httpd/wlproxy_global.log
DebugConfigInfo On
</IfModule>
And this Location configured:
<Location /FaleConosco>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicCluster 10.8.90.147:7006
Debug ON
WLLogFile "/var/log/httpd/wlproxy-faleconosco.log"
</Location>
And this is what's happening:
1 - Half of requests through Apache, get a 404
2 - All requests that go directly to WebLogic, get a 200
Any idea?

It seems that the WebLogic plugin for Apache has a bug (where do I submit bugs?)
If WebLogicCluster is used with only one server, there might be problems with requests being missed.
I changed the above configuration to use the WebLogicHost / WebLogicPort, and now I get 100% of HTTP/1.1 200
<Location /FaleConosco>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
# WebLogicCluster 10.8.90.147:7006
WebLogicHost 10.8.90.147
WebLogicPort 7006
Debug OFF
WLLogFile "/var/log/httpd/wlproxy-faleconosco.log"
</Location>
Hope this thread will help others

  • About Weblogic-Apache plugin for windows NT

    Is there windows NT version of WEBLOGIC-APACHE Plugin? If so where can we get the details about the product?

    Last time I checked, the NT version of Apache was still an alpha (or
    beta???) release. I believe that we have plans to support this once the NT
    version is no longer in alpha/beta status...

  • Weblogic Apache Plugins -Put/Delete Method

    Hi ,
    I need to find out if the weblogic plugin Apache supports the use of http PUT and DELETE operations (instead of GET and POST) and if so I need an example plugin configuration where the clients are using the "PUT" and "DELETE" operations. And, again assuming the plugin supports PUT and DELETE, are there any known issues with there use in conjunction with the plugin.

    Hi ,
    Here is the details about the HTTP Put/Delete Protocol :-
    Supported :-
    HTTP Put and Delete Protocol is supported in Weblogic and Weblogic Apache Plugin .
    In Apache also these protocols are supported .
    Configuration :-
    If you want to configure it older version of Apache we have to use the (WebDav) of the apache .But you don't have do anything for newer version
    as this module should be there and we have to do only configuration for Apache for this module .
    Configuration of WebDab is here in newer version of Apache:-
    http://www.serverwatch.com/tutorials/article.php/2176771/Enabling-WebDAV-on-Apache.htm
    We don't have to do anything on Weblogic and Apache Weblogic Plugin side .As by default they support these protocols.
    Usage :-
    I tested this in my environment by sending a Put request to Weblogic Plugin using the Tool called "Fiddler".
    I sent a request to Weblogic Plugin using this tool and it works . Even i checked on the Apache plugin log files also that it works.
    There is good note from apache how to use the Put/Delete function in Apache .
    Please follow this link for usage for Put/Delete for Apache for uploading files to server . How this make life easy .
    http://www.apacheweek.com/features/put
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1051004/how-to-send-put-delete-http-request-in-httpurlconnection
    Security Risk :-
    Please keep in mind that there is security risk when we use this protocol which is clearly explain in the note when we use this in the example above.
    Here is a nice article also which explains the security concerns of Put :-
    https://www.golemtechnologies.com/articles/http-put-security

  • Load Factor for Weblogic Apache plugin

    Hi All,
    I have a performance testing environment and I am looking to distribute the traffic from the Apache server that we use for caching static content to three Weblogic servers. I haven't been able to find any options for configuring the distribution of requests across the three servers. Apache mod_proxy has a "loadfactor" configuration to weight the traffic toward a particular node. It seems that the plugin only operates using only a simple round-robin algorithm for load balancing.
    I have found the Apache plugin configuration documentation and it doesn't look like there is such an option but I am wondering if I am missing something and it is supposed to be configured somewhere else.
    Any information regarding this is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    I came across this link which says ‘WebLogic Server does not always load balance an object’s method calls.” And has few more details about the load balancing strategy of weblogic.

  • Weblogic Apache Plugin - Load Balancing

    Hi,
    I have two Apache servers each with the WLS Apache Plugin installed. These sit in front of two WL servers each having two managed servers.
    Each plugin is setup with the list of servers as follows:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
              WebLogicCluster Server_1:7030,Server_1:7040,Server_2:7010Server_2:7020
              Debug           OFF
              WLLogFile logs/cws_proxy.log
              WLTempDir "logs"
              DebugConfigInfo OFF
              WLProxySSL On
              KeepAliveEnabled ON
              KeepAliveSecs 15
              MatchExpression *.xhtml
              MatchExpression *.jsp
         </IfModule>
    Look OK so far?
    Anyway, looking at the WL access.log I can see that server 1 is only receiving requests from one Apache, and the same goes for the other access.log. So... it's not really load balancing is it?
    Can anyone offer any advice or comments on my plugin configuration or why it is not load balancing properly?
    Much Appreciated,

  • Apache Plugin in linux for WLS6.0 sp1 and (?sp2?)

    This message is a little long,
    The following message is arranged in 4 parts where:
    1. Conclusion and Sugestions.
    2. Tests Environment
    3. Simple plugin environment
    4. Virtual Hosting with apache
    Any comment and help will be welcome
    Conclusion
    The plug-in has not been tested and documented and therefore does not
    work in the described environment. The plugin parameter needs to be :
    1. Syntaxly rewieved. The parameters not starting with
    WebLogic.... (like PathTrim, PathPrepend, ConnectTimeoutSecs,
    ConnectRetrySecs, Debug, DebugConfigInfo, StatPath, ErrorPage,
    HungServerRecoverSecs, Idempotent, CookieName,
    DefaultFileName, MaxPostSize, MatchExpression, FileCaching,
    SecureProxy, TrustedCAFile, RequireSSLHostMatch,
    SSLHostMatchOID) are confusing and couyld be bug/problem
    generators when adding other non BEA modules in apache. I
    would suggest to have all the parameter starting with a common
    root like WebLogic or Wls or something else deterministic
    2. Better documented. The module parameters in Apache need to
    get an action perimeter. For example the "LoadModule
    weblogic_module" and "AddModule mod_weblogic.c" need to be
    declared one time at the server level. But there no
    indication for the others plugin parameters if they are
    limited inside the sublocation where declared, i.e
    <VirtualHost>, <location> <file>.....
    3. Documented with configuration examples: The apache plugin is
    interlinked with what is declared in the WLS server. I would
    sugest to provide some examples on this matter. I.e how to
    relate the Apache virtual hosting with or without the virtual
    hosting in wls.
    Test Environment
    The tests described below has been done with the following system
    environment.
    Operating System:
    RedHat 7.0 + glibc updates + network uodates, kernel level 2.2.17-14
    RedHat 7.1 + updates, kernel 2.4.2-2
    Java Level:
    On the RedHat 7.0 system the default Java JVM provided in the BEA
    distribution
    On the RedHat 7.1 system the Sun JDK 1.3.1 for Linux
    Apache: 1.3.19
    DNS: one system called cordoba.paris.inetpc.com with 3 cnames added
    (w1cordoba, w2cordoba, w3cordoba)
    The Weblogic installtion is coming from a single reference system.
    This system runs under RedHat 6.2 + latest update levels. The WebLogic
    tree directory has been deployed in both systems and the JVM set in the
    proper manner. Despite the well known problem with the default webapp
    Wls 6.0 works fine and as expected. Default ports are used (7001).
    The apache environment works fine too. In a single apache environment
    and with the virtual hosting supporting the 3 cnames (w1cordoba,
    w2cordoba, w3cordoba)
    In both systems the behavior and and problems are equal.
    Simple plugin environment
    A single default web app runs under wls6.0. calling the wls60 thru the
    URI: "http://cordoba:7001" works fines and the Welcome.html default page
    is properly displayed. Similar tests have been done with a jsp page and
    works fine too.
    The httpd.conf file has been set has described in the documentation and
    as follow:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
    WebLogicHost cordoba
    WebLogicPort 7001
    Debug ON
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    <location /wls>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathTrin /wls
    </location>
    Problem 1: When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba/wls"
    the answer from the couple apache/plugin is:
    -1- In the netscape location entry fileld we get in return:
    "http://cordoba/Welcome.html"
    -2- The response from apache is "NOT FOUND The requested URL
    /Welcome.html was not found on this server."
    -3- When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba:7001" the
    return is properly rendered, and the Netscape Location entry field
    gets: "http://cordoba:7001/Welcome.html"
    -4- wlproxy.log contains:

    Virtual Hosting with Apache
    These tests aim to validate a production environment where an entry cell
    of apache servers will serve static pages and route dynamic requests to
    a set of WebLogic servers. From the Apache/Httpd point of view the
    dispatch is done first at a virtual host level and then for each virtual
    server, each different location will be served by one or multiple
    weblogic servers. A try with Apache virtual hosts in where a reroute by
    location or a full reroute has done the same results than stated in
    "Simple plugin environment".

    using the apache plugin that you provided from the distribution.
    There is no way to let it work.
    the apache site trying to connect to weblogic is a virtual host, follows the config
    file.
    Checking the DEbugDebug config monitor it I discover that SecureProxy it is OFF
    istead of ON and checking the debug file I've got this message:
    INFO: ssl is not activated..
    It means that despite of SecureProxy set to ON, it is still working in clear.
    I have the same behaviour using 6.0, SP1, SP2 and 6.1
    (If there more documentation about it in 6.1, please let me know where!)
    Please, anyone can send me documentation about it or help me???

    1. Syntaxly rewieved.
    Worth considering for the next major release.
    2. Better documented.
    Yes, 6.1 release is doing a much better job of documentation!
    The module parameters in Apache need to
    get an action perimeter. For example the "LoadModule
    weblogic_module" and "AddModule mod_weblogic.c" need to be
    declared one time at the server level. If apxs is used to update the module, end user should not need
    to worry about adding/changing these two lines.
    But there no
    indication for the others plugin parameters if they are
    limited inside the sublocation where declared, i.e
    <VirtualHost>, <location> <file>.....
    3. Documented with configuration examples: The apache plugin
    is
    interlinked with what is declared in the WLS server. I would
    sugest to provide some examples on this matter. I.e how to
    relate the Apache virtual hosting with or without the virtual
    hosting in wls.
    Again, better on 6.1 docs.
    Problem 1: When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba/wls"
    the answer from the couple apache/plugin is:
    -1- In the netscape location entry fileld we get in return:
    "http://cordoba/Welcome.html"
    "DefaultFileName Welcome.html" should be used in your httpd.conf
    -2- The response from apache is "NOT FOUND The requested URL
    /Welcome.html was not found on this server."
    -3- When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba:7001" the
    return is properly rendered, and the Netscape Location entry field
    gets: "http://cordoba:7001/Welcome.html"
    -4- wlproxy.log contains:on 6.1, if relative URI is used in sendRedirect(), PathTrim and
    PathPrepend should be taken care automatically. i.e:
    in httpd.conf:
    PathTrim /weblogic
    PathPrepend /abc
    in a jsp page:
    response.sendRedirect("HelloWorld.jsp");
    The plugin and wls will be smart enough to set Location header
    to the following:
    Location: http://apache_host:apache_port/weblogic/HelloWorld.jsp
    Then the plugin will trim the /weblogic and prepend /abc to it
    i.e:
    http://wls_host:wls_port/abc/HelloWorld.jsp
    Virtual Hosting with Apache
    These tests aim to validate a production environment where an entrycell
    of apache servers will serve static pages and route dynamic requests
    to
    a set of WebLogic servers. From the Apache/Httpd point of view the
    dispatch is done first at a virtual host level and then for each virtual
    server, each different location will be served by one or multiple
    weblogic servers. A try with Apache virtual hosts in where a reroute
    by
    location or a full reroute has done the same results than stated in
    "Simple plugin environment".Absolutely. in 6.1 you can specify different weblogic hosts per
    vhost. Even you can use MatchExresspion or <Location> to define
    different parameters per mime type and path:
    i.e:
    MatchExpression *.jsp WebLogicHost=www.bea.com|WebLogicPort=7001|DefaultFileName=/Welcome.html
    MatchExpression *.html WebLogicCluster=weblogic1:7001,weblogic2:7002|Debug=ALL
    <Location /weblogic>
    WebLogicHost thankyou.com
    </Location>
    Where Location takes the precedence.
    Anyway, 6.1 apache plugin should be a much better modules.
    We also support apache2.0(beta) in 6.1. Unfortunately,
    the apache2.0 binaries were unable to be included in the 6.1
    beta installer. There might be a separate down-load for that.
    Thank you for your great suggestions/comments.
    thanks

  • Weblogic Apache Plugin

    Hello,
    I am running Apache 2.2 and WebLogic 10.3 and I am trying to get Apache to listen for server.domain.com on port 80 and load the redirect.html file that will redirect the user to httpS://server.domain.com. But it is trying to proxy the port 80 request to weblogic. Any ideas?
    I have setup virtual host in apache as follows:
    <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:80>
    ServerName server.domain.com
    DocumentRoot /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/redirect
    DirectoryIndex redirect.html
    </VirtualHost>
    <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:443>
    ServerName server.domain.com
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost wbapp04.ipaper.com
    WebLogicPort 8001
    MatchExpression *.jsp
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    DynamicServerList OFF
    HungServerRecoverSecs 900
    </IfModule>
    SSLEngine On
    SSLCertificateFile conf/certs/wbdev.ipaper.com.crt
    SSLCertificateKeyFile conf/certs/workbrain.key
    DocumentRoot /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/
    </VirtualHost>
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Weblogic plugin has a log as well and you can try to enable it to see if the connection is working fine from 443 virtual host to weblogic.
    To enable it: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/plugins/plugin_params.html#wp1143055
    Parameter: Debug
    Thanks.

  • Weblogic apache plugin and webservices

    Can I use the weblogic plugin on a DMZ based Apache server and use a 3 tier architecture
    to implement webservices.
    Using this model can a external application contact my webservices running in
    my internal network and can my weblogic/webservices server contact an external

    Any documentation regarding the architecture?

    Hi Anil,
    Not sure this is possible, unless you are using it as a proxy and setup
    the proper host/port mappings, see:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/client.html#1072224
    We have a very responsive security newsgroup, you might ask your

    Hi,
    The DTD used in "web.xml" should not cause any issue ...though it's the OLD "web.xml"...Please try to run the Following command to Generate the New Deployment Descriptors from the Existing Application:
    Step1). Open a Command Window and Run "setWLSEnv.sh" or "setWLSEnv.cmd".
    Step2). In the Command Prompt move to the Current Directory where you have placed your Application and then Run the Following Command
    java weblogic.DDConverter  -d NewDDs  jamagent.war
    Here Above Command Will read the "jamagent.war" War archive and then It will generate the New DDs in "NewDDs" directory...Which we need to replace with the OLD DDs present in our WebApplication..

  • Weblogic-apache bridge

    Folks,
    I read in the instructions for installing the weblogic-apache plugin
    where you can use the plug-in so apache can serve the static pages and
    the servlets and ejbs are routed to the weblogic server. Can we use a
    configuration where just the ejb's are mapped to the weblogic server and
    the html, jsp's and servlets are served by the apache server? It seems
    logical that the ejb's could be located by finding the JNDI compliant
    server, and the rest served by apache. Are there any folks out there
    using an architecture where weblogic is used only for ejbs and the rest
    is served by apache? Or are there specific restrictions on what gets
    served where using apache and weblogic? Thanks for listening,

    The problem in using the JSPs and servlets on the servlet engine
    of the web server is, they can not use clustering/faliover facilities
    that come with WebLogic server.

  • Setup issues: Apache plugin for Weblogic

    Hi,
    I've spent couple of days without success trying to configure apache plugin for weblogic. I've configured in accordance with bea documentation and it works fine in windows environment but fails in Solaris 9.
    Plugin log file says it's processed the request successfully but I see error message in browser saying it can't find the jsp file. It works fine if I access the weblogic box directly without going through apache.
    I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP2, single server.
    Please find below the messages appear in browser, plugin logs, and apache version.

    # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    # These directives also provide default values for the settings

    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "/opt/IBMIHS" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "/opt/IBMIHS/logs/foo.log".

    Timeout 300
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On

    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.

    # in which case these default settings will be overridden for the
    # virtual host being defined.

  • Netscape or Apache plugin for WebLogic

    Hi,
    The Netscape plugin for WebLogic is mentioned many time in on-line
    documents for WebLogic servers. However, I can't find any information
    with regard to how the plug-in is distributed, licensed. Could someone
    please tell me if it is bundled in the server download? How do I install
    this thing? Is there Apache plugin for Solaris platform?
    Thank you,

    Hi, Micheal,
    Thank you very much. I found them. They are all *.dll files. I seems to
    have the impression that BEA support both NT and solaris. Keep looking
    I also found a file called libproxy.so in the weblogic/lib/solaris

    install?

  • Apache plugin for Weblogic not forwarding entire X509 certificate chain

    I really hope there's someone out there that can help with this. I've spent all week trying various things to make this work.
    SUMMARY
    It doesn't appear that the Weblogic plugin (mod_wl_20.so) for Apache (2.0.49) sends the entire X509 certificate chain sent from a client to Weblogic (9.2).
    DESCRIPTION
    We have Apache set up to accept client certificates over SSL. This authentication process is successful. When viewing the weblogic plugin log, I can see the headers that are being sent to weblogic:

    The key here seems to be WL-Proxy-Client-Cert. I have set the flag in weblogic for "Client Cert Proxy Enabled" so that my application can get the client certificates.
    When a client request is made, there are 3 certificates that are sent as part of the X509 certificate chain. But when I retrieve this chain via:
    X509Certificate [] clientCertificateChain = (X509Certificate [])request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate");
    The length of this array is only 1! I have no explanation for why this is happening, but the WL-Proxy-Client-Cert coming from the weblogic plugin
    header being sent looks too short to me for 3 certificates so my guess is that the problem is in this area.
    Here's my weblogic plugin configuration in apache:
    <Location /ddm>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster denwlsd1:7711
    WLLogFile /tmp/wl_proxy.log
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    Debug ALL
    </Location>
    And of course my Apache virtual host configuration has:
    SSLOptions StdEnvVars ExportCertData
    If you have any ideas on things I can try, I would hugely appreciate it!!!
