Weblogic as Service on Windows 2000

I am running a WLS as a service on a Windows 2000 server and have integrated Hibernate
using EJBs. Hibernate relies on a config file residing in the application root
directory. When run from the command prompt this config file can be found by WLS
in the root domain directory.
When run as a service the file can not be found. Where is the domain root when
run as a service.
Thanks

According to BEA, you cannot clear the existing classpath. The variables
set by WLCONFIG are stored in the registry but the classpath is not. It is
built on the fly. It takes the variables JAVA_HOME, WEBLOGIC_HOME,
WEBLOGIC_LICENSEDIR, and CLASSPATH Prefix which are configurable through the
use of WLCONFIG to build the classpath.
You can also clear the CLASSPATH Prefix to "" which will clear the first
entry in your classpath.
Hope that helps..

When I use wlconfig to setup the "classpath", it only prepends to existingclasspath (which is incorrect). How can I set it? I can set the
weblogic.class.path without a problem. I need to be able to run it as a
service under windows 2000.

  • Running OC4J as a service in Windows 2000

    I've been trying to have OC4J run as a service in Windows 2000, as having to be logged in isn't very flexible.
    I've searched the net, and I found a tool by Microsoft called srvany.exe/instsrv.exe, which should install any program as a service. It works, but the service shuts down whenever I log off, which defeats the purpose.
    What I've done is run the command line
    instsrv "Oracle Application Server" C:\Progs\Service\srvany.exe
    and then edit the registry settings under the newly created folder to
    Application=C:\Progs\Oracle 9i AS\j2ee\home\java
    AppParameters=-jar oc4j.jar
    AppDirectory=C:\Progs\Oracle 9i AS\j2ee\home
    Does anyone know this tool well enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong, or know something else I can use?

    Hi
    Have managed to run oc4j as a service as follows under xp pro
    Download runexescv from http://www.judoscript.com/goodies/index.html
    Unpack and run
    Create service say OracleOc4j
    Needs basic parameters setup
    Cmdline and Home
    My setup is
    debug=false
    cmdline=c:\ora9ias\jdk\bin\java - Dorg.omg.CORBA. ORBClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Doracle.security.jazn.config=c:\ora9ias\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\jazn.xml -Doracle.home=c:\ora9ias -DORACLE_HOME=c:\ora9ias -jar c:\ora9ias\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar -userThreads -config c:\ora9ias\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\server.xml
    ( all from startinst.bat )
    home=C:\ora9ias\j2ee\home\
    Save and close
    Oracleoc4j will now be set up as service
    Change service to auto and start service !!
    Appears to be neat and easy way of setting up an OC4J service

    I found a resources.ora at location c:\oracle\ora81

  • Running Essbase 6.1 as a service on Windows 2000

    OK, what's the scoop about running Essbase 6.1 as a service on Windows 2000?Besides not seeing the graphic interface, are there any issues? Are there any issues with shutting down the Essbase server by either clicking "Stop" in the Services panel or issuing a Net Stop service command?Finally, has anyone successfully used Microsoft's "Srvany" utility to run Essbase as a service yet still display the graphic windows?Do most of y'all on NT or 2000 run as a service or as an app?

    Just a little extra information about running Essbase as a Service. We are running on NT 4.0. If one application is causing a problem, you can kill the one application without having to reboot the server. You will need to know which application is causing your problem and You will need to know it's "process id". If you can't find the right process id by looking at "tlist", you can look in the ESSBASE.LOG. Start at the bottom of the log and search backwards for the text "started with process id". When you find the process id of the problem application, you can then kill it at the DOS prompt by typing "kill ###", where ### is the process id.This is helpful for us because we have about 10 applications on one server and we don't want to have to take all of Essbase down just for one application. Hope this is helpful to someone.

  • GuestDisabled property = false... Weblogic 6.1 sp1 Windows 2000

    GuestDisabled property = false... Weblogic 6.1 sp1 Windows 2000.
    But I still can connect without principal and credentials (as guest :) ) to
    Weblogic. Could someone check if it is true or not?
    Thanks in advance,
    Anton

    Says the official doc (the last sentence will answer your question).
    The guest User is automatically provided by WebLogic Server. When
    authorization is not required, WebLogic Server assigns the guest identity to
    a client, thus giving the client access to any resources that are available
    to the guest user. A client can log in as the guest User by entering guest
    as the username and guest as the password when prompted by a Web browser or
    by supplying the guest username and password in a Java client. By default,
    the guest account is enabled.
    For a more secure deployment, BEA recommends running WebLogic Server with
    the guest account disabled. To disable the guest account, select the Guest
    Disabled attribute on the General tab of the Security Configuration window.
    Disabling the guest account just disables the ability to log in into the
    account guest; it does not disable the ability for unauthenticated users to
    access a WebLogic Server deployment.

    Weird, I agree.

  • How to run jar as a service on windows 2000 server?

    Hi,
    I built a console jar program and want to run it as a service on windows 2000 server.
    May I ask how can I do it?
    Thanks

    Take a look at something called java service wrapper ,

    Alexandria software used to support a simpler app called JavaService... google for that maybe if the above is too much.

  • WebLogic 6.0 as NT Service on Windows 2000

    I started the WebLogic 6.0 as NT service. After it was started i tried to access the administrator console through the web browser. Hi Dan,
    Unfortunatly Sander was right. I had exactly the same problem. I couldn't open
    Console (there was no socket 7001 in netstat -a). After creation password.ini
    everything is OK (except that password is in clear text)

    I am not quite sure it is a password problem because that should occur

    Can you access the console at the local NT machine where the NT service

    you can
    do this by simply using the startup menu icon "Start Default Console".

  • Clustering Weblogic 5.1 using Windows 2000 Advanced Server

    Is there any documentation available on using Microsoft's clustering technology in win2000 Advanced Server for weblogic 5.1?
              Does weblogic support Microsoft's Clustering technology as a "cluster-aware application?"
              If Weblogic is NOT cluster-aware, WE would like to set it up as "non-clustering aware application" or Generic application! Is there any part of the registry that is used while WL is running that should be replicated from server to server in a failover situation?

    Thanks for the feedback!  Your feedback will help us to improve LabVIEW for our customers.  This bug has been reported to R&D (#45493) and they are currently investigating this issue.  For now, the best workaround appears to be using a different OS, as this seems to only occur in Windows 2000.  Thanks for the feedback!

  • I can not run "hello1.jsp" on windows 2000 server

    I have just installed WebLogic 6.1 on windows 2000 server
              I put this file(hello1.jsp) on
              "c:\bea\wlserver6.0\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp" .When I
              tried to
              load this jsp file on explorer ,i input "http://localhost:7001/hello1.jsp"
              ,the following error happened

    Looks like that weblogic server is unable to create Java process for
              compilation of JSP into (JAVA) class file .......
              It may be due to:
              a. You do not have JDK installed/configured on the machine. [JDK is required
              for JSP pages to be compiled at runtime]
              b. WebLogic server is unable to invoke correct javac.exe [Check JAVA_HOME
              and PATH variable to ensure that they are correct and it is correctly
              specified in the startWebLogic.cmd, startWLS.cmd files]
              Thanks,
              Selva-

  • Executing notepad in jsp (WIndows 2000)

    Hey,
    I've been playing around with the Runtime API and have run into problem. I want to eventually run a C program through a JSP page, but I can't even get notepad to open successfully. Below is the entire test code that is supposed to open notepad. When I open this JSP page in Windows 2000, nothing happens. The GUI for notepad is never opened. However, I checked the task manager and there is an instance of notepad there, and when I try to end the process it gives me an error saying that access is denied. I wrote a simple java program with similar code, and I am able to successfully open notepad through it. I can't see what I'm doing wrong here. Anyone else have this problem on Windows 2000? Thanks.
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
         Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
         try {
              Process p = r.exec("notepad");
         } catch (Exception e) {
              System.out.println("Error");
    %>
    <html>
    ...html code...
    </html>
    Jason

    I've finally determined the cause of all my troubles. It turns out that if Tomcat is running as a service on Windows 2000, it can't access the console and as a result it can't call external programs. I turned off the service temporarily and started up the stand-alone Tomcat application and my JSP pages work without a hitch. Unfortunately, I think they'll want to keep Tomcat as a service, so I haven't completely solved all of my problems. So does anyone know of a way to execute external programs using Runtime.exec() while running Tomcat as a service? Thanks.
    Jason
