Weblogic as windows service
I started weblogic domain as windows service as it described in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13708/winservice.htm#i1186180.
After that i login to administrative console and i see, that DMS application deployed state in failed. In log i see, that weblogic does not see needed classes. Also I can't deploy my enterprise application for the same reason.
If I start weblogic domain as script, than all start successfully and I can deploy any application well.
What classpath is absent in windows script?
The installSvc script calls just commEnv to set the classpath
call "%WL_HOME%\common\bin\commEnv.cmd"What you can try to do is call the setDomainEnv.cmd file instead (this also calls commEnv).
Usually with fusion middleware components extra classpath entry are added in the setDomainEnv script.
The setDomainEnv script is located in the <middleware-home>\user_projects\domains\domain-name\bin directory.

Performance issue when put weblogic in Windows service
I am running a performance test on our application which sits on top of bea weblogic server 7.0sp2, I found out when I run the server as windows service, performance is much worse than I run it in command prompt. any thoughts ?
btw, I am running W2K SP4 server, 4G MEM, 4 CPUSsIt's hard to tell without more information, but my first suggestion
would be to double-check that the same parameters/config are being used
in both cases.
Any idea what part of your app is taking more time?

Failing to start Weblogic as Windows Service
I've seen this support case:
http://support.bea.com/application?namespace=askbea&origin=ask_bea_answer.jsp&event=link.view_answer_page_solution&answerpage=solution&page=jrock/S-26582.htm
Is this still an issue on Windows 2000 with WebLogic Platform 8.1 sp3 because I've struggeled getting the WLS server starting.
----- TrondHi Jit,
Rename the boot.properties to boot.properties_back,
Now are u able to start the Admin Server with direct StartAdmin.sh script???
If yes, what were the credentials used during startup,were they weblogic/weblogic???
If you have forgotten your username and password
Follow the steps provided in the below link for resetting the password
http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=323
Once you follow the above steps
Try login to console with the new username and password.
Now changes needs to be done in installSvc_iw.cmd
set WLS_USER=weblogic
set WLS_PW=weblogic Regards

Install webLogic 10.3.5.0 as windows Service
Hi there;
Looking for install webLogic as windows service; I found some papers that points me to "WL_HOME\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
as we can see here in [On-Line Manual References|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13708/winservice.htm#START143]
But; the fact is that in my wl_home\server\bin directory I can't see installSvc.cmd ;
wl_home\server is not there any way;
I have wl_home\serverS instead of it ;
Any tips to configure webLogic 10.3.5.0 as windows service ?
Foward thanks
Marcos OrtegaHi Marcos,
Since you were looking in your domain directory, note that you can innstall WLS components like node manager, admin server and managed servers as Windows services (which might be what you are trying to achieve).
- For Node Manager you have the cmd file at WL_HOME\server\bin\installNodeMgrSvc.cmd
- To create a Windows service for the Admin Server:
1. Create a text file named %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\<domain name>\servers\AdminServer\security\boot.properties. Add the following lines:
username=weblogic
password=<the weblogic username password>
2. Create a command script called installAdmServer_Service.cmd which you will want to make sure has lines like:
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=<your wls domain>
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=<path to domain> # e.g., C:\middleware\FMW11g\user_projects\domains\ClassicDomain
set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
cd %USERDOMAIN_HOME%
call %USERDOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
call "<your middleware home>\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
3. Then run "installAdmServer_Service.cmd", the Service should be installed. It will have a name like "beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" (e.g. beasvc ClassicDomain_AdminServer). The Service "Startup Type" shouldl be "Automatic".
- To create a Windows service for the Managed Server:
1. Create a text file named %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\<domain name>\servers\[managed_server_name]\security\boot.properties. Add the following lines:
username=weblogic
password=<the weblogic username password e.g manager11g>
2. Create a command script called installWLSFORMS_Service.cmd which has lines like
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=<your wls domain>
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=<path to domain> # e.g. C:\middleware\FMW11g\user_projects\domains\ClassicDomain
set SERVER_NAME=WLS_FORMS
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
set ADMIN_URL=http://mymachine.mycompany.com:7001
cd %USERDOMAIN_HOME%
call %USERDOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
call "<your middleware home>\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
3. Then run "installWLSFORMS_Service.cmd", the Service should be installed and it will have a name like "beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" (e.g. beasvc ClassicDomain_WLS_FORMS). The Service "Startup Type" will be "Automatic".
Some warnings:
- The ADMIN_URL value should reference the AdminServer hostname and listen port.
- The SERVER_NAME value is case sensitive. For example, if you are creating a MS Windows service for a different managed server such as 'wls_ods1' then the value needs to match the case of the server name otherwise the startup of the server via the MS Windows service will fail.
- Be careful that there are no trailing spaces after each line in the command file - trailing spaces will cause the managed server to fail at startup.
Hope this helps.

Weblogic Windows service fails when aspectwerkz is added to configuration
All,
I have been running weblogic as windows service successfully. Now, we are utilizing AOP from aspectwerkz. I added the necessary settings for aspectwerkz in the install script. After adding the changes, I am able to install the service. However, when I start the service it fails with the MMC error dialog box displaying:
'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.'
I opened the Event viewer and checked the System events. I see an error which says:
'The beasvc med1d2_med1d2as01 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.'
Unfortunately, the info I get from MMC and event viewer doesn't really help in any way. I tried tweaking 'CMDLINE' and other stuff in the install script to no avail. I would appreciate any help.
Infrastructure information:
OS: Windows Server 2000
App server: Weblogic 8.1 sp4
JDK: Sun JDK 1.4.2 04
Thanks in advance.

Installing BI Services as Windows Service
Hi All,
I am on 64 bit windows server 2008, I have done a simple install of obiee 11g. So I have only Admin Server
and no managed server.
I need to install the weblogic as windows service. And this is what i have done till now
1. Modified the boot properties file to enter the login and password (weblogic/Welcome1)
2. Set system environment variables BI_ORACLE_HOME and JAVA_HOME
3. Modified the installsvc.cmd file to enter the following
a.
b.
c.-log:"E:\MW_OBI\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\AdminServer-stdout.txt
4. created the installAdminServer_service.cmd file with following contents
echo off
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=bifoundation_domain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=%Middlewarehome%\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain
set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
call "%Middlewarehome%\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd"
call "%Middlewarehome%\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
5.Now when I run this, it does run something but doesn't install the "beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%"
service as expected.
This is the extract from my installsvc.cmd file. What is that I am missing? Is there any variable which
needs to be set. What could be the issue. Does this work for 64 bit machine?

@rem
@rem This script sets the following variables before installing

@rem
@rem WL_HOME - The root directory of your WebLogic installation
@rem JAVA_HOME - Location of the version of Java used to start WebLogic

@rem CLASSPATH - Adds the JDK and WebLogic jars to the classpath.
@rem
@rem Other variables that installSvc takes are:
@rem
@rem WLS_USER - admin username for server startup
@rem WLS_PW - cleartext password for server startup
@rem ADMIN_URL - if this variable is set, the server started will be a
@rem managed server, and will look to the url specified (i.e.
@rem http://localhost:7001) as the admin server.
@rem PRODUCTION_MODE - set to true for production mode servers, false for
@rem development mode
@rem JAVA_OPTIONS - Java command-line options for running the server. (These

ENDLOCALHi Ronny,
The procedure does work for 64-bit machines. I have done for OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on Windows 2008 64-bit machine.
In your installAdminServer_service.cmd file, turn on echo and check if you get additional information. This will help you know which steps are getting executed and which aren't.
Also, you can cross check your steps with document on Oracle Support - How to Install MS Windows Services For FMW 11g WebLogic Domain Admin and Managed Servers.
Thanks -
Start Oracle BI 11.1.1.5 as Windows service.
I have the Simple Installation of Oracle BI 11.1.1.5 on Windows 2003. It's mean that only AdminServer there is in Weblogic. I've found sollution for BI installed as another server in Weblogic (AdminServer and bi_server1). Also I can start Weblogic as Windows service but BI doesn't start. Is it possible to set BI as Windows service?
Hi, Deepak!
Thank you for link but I have only one server in weblogic - Admin_server. -
Setting up OIM to start as a Windows Service running under Weblogic 10.3.2
Hi,
On recommendation from our Oracle Rep. we have begun migrating our existing OIM installation on Oracle AS to a Weblogic Application Server. As such we are looking for a way to get the OIM application to run as a service in windows - so we dont have to start it manually after a reboot and so that system monitoring can alert us if/when the application crashes for some reason.
I have asked Oracle support - which basically said that no such howto/documentation exists and that "One needs to debug on their own when face any issue." (whatever the h*** that means).
I was thinking that we werent the first customers trying to get the OIM webapplication to start automatically under weblogic and that someone must have figured out a way to accomplish this ?
Any advice on how to do this will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
/JacobHi Jacob,
See this post that I answered few time ago. Re: Keeping Remote Manager running - Windows
Our OIM is running as a Windows Service.
REnato -
I created a windows service to start a managed server and the services was created successfully and stated. WHen I go to the Weblogic Server Admn console, the server is still showing shutdown. Whenm I try to start it, it returns with error that the the service is not able to start. Has anyone ran into anything similar. I am running on Windows Server 2008R2 and running Weblogic Server 10.3.6 and Fusion Middleware 11.1.6.
CHi,
For starting managed server as windows service there is no need of nodemanager .
Please follow the steps given in the below doc:
How to Install MS Windows Services For FMW 11g WebLogic Domain Admin and Managed Servers (Doc ID 1060058.1)

Creating a windows Service for Weblogic 12c Domain hosting Apex 2.2 listener
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have experience of Weblogic 12c under windows?
I have some difficulties to create a windows service for a domain.
Here is the script to create the service:
echo off
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=PMU
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\PMU
set SERVER_NAME=LICORNE2012
set WL_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_12.1
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dweblogic.Name=LICORNE2012
set WLS_USER=weblogic
set WLS_PW=password
set ADMIN_URL=http://LICORNE2012:7001
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms256m –Xmx256m
call "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_12.1\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
The service is created and when I start the service, it start then stop few second after.
Here is the error I am getting.

Thanks for your help
jko- not sure about your script, but obviously it doesn't detect the name of your managed server LICORNE2012 since there seems to be an admin server only in that domain.
- alternatively you might try the approach posted by the AMIS guys
Weblogic Admin and Managed servers as a Windows service
- btw: having your domain under user_projects is not best practice (but not the problem here).
good luck! -

Auto start weblogic 11gR1 as windows service?
I have installed Weblogic Server 11gR1 and created a domain with only one server (Administration Server).
I wonder if I can configure to run as windows service, in case of windows update and auto restartCopy this to a new file called createSvc.cmd and put it in the \wlserver_10.3\server\bin
echo off
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=ADFDomain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\ADFDomain
set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
set PRODUCTION_MODE=false
set JAVA_VENDOR=Sun
set JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_18
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms256m -Xmx512m
call "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
you will have to edit the DOMAIN_NAME to match yours
and the USERDOMAIN_HOME as well. This is pretty much a default install of the WLS 10.3 - though I changed the domain name.
I assume you used the default admin server name.
Go to the command prompt and set the current directory to the \wlserver_10.3\server\bin directory.
execute the createsvc.cmd and it should be done. -

Running Weblogic managed server as Windows service
Hi,
i'm using Weblogic 6.0 SP2 and i'm trying to run Managed Server as windows
service (i'm using Win2k). I use a pretty long CLASSPATH in order to run my
WebApplication and it looks like beasvc.exe truncates my CLASSPATH - that
way my application wouldn't work.
Is there any workaround to my problem ?
Thanks alot for any help,
Bybye.Windows has a command line limitation of 2K.
Since you invoke beasvc.exe from command line, it will obviously get's
truncated
1)
One work around will be to set the registry manually after invoking
the beasvc.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
<service-name>\Parameters
Alter cmdLine parameter to include everything. After this if you start
the service, it should work.
2)
Put all the classpath in a file called C:/temp/foo.tmp (since classpath is
long)
Invoke beasvc.exe with cmdLine set as
-cmdLine:... -classpath "@C:/temp/foo.tmp ...
Since jvm pulls the classpath from the file, this should also solve your
problem.
Sun VM's support this feature as of 1.2 and above.
