Weblogic cluster consumes 100% CPU and bringing server to its knees.

I have BEA Weblogic 10.3.1 clustering as part of FMW 11g clustering. This is two node cluster on "Oracle VM" running OEL 4.0 with 4GB Memory and 4GB swap. Install seems to go with little difficulties like 100%CPU for short period but during the configuration always the Java thread consumes 100%.
Now I am at a point where shared drive is created (Chapter 5.20 of EDG) for HA FileAdapter and Persistence store. Hitting same 100% CPU problem. Looks like thread locking situation.

Also noticed the SWAP space is never being used though it has 4GB swap space. It brings the VM to its knees. Thanks in advance for any response.

  • BT NetProtect intermitantly consuming 100% CPU

    Hi, I have Infinity install and all is working fine, I installed the BT NetProtect secuity software and find that every so often it suddeny consumes 100% cpu and my PC slows to halt for about 1 or 2 seconds. This happens randomly through the day sometime 20 times over an hour, sometime once every 4 or 5 hours.
    At first I have disabled various functions such as the rteal time scanning etc but it still causing a problem. Uninstall the software and the problem is resolved - re-install and problem back again.
    Watch the Performance monitor under the Task Manager and you can see the CPU max out when the problem is experienced.
    Any one else with this problem and any ideas for a solution.
    All help greatly received.
    Steven

    Without more detailed info I wouldn't like to guess on why it's using 100% cpu, sone older McAffee products that I have used have been pretty resource hungry but 100% dosen't sound right at all! Although I have never used it myself there are many good free alternatives.
    I have tried many AV solutions and Firewalls on my Windows Machines over the years inc BitDeffender, Avast, NOD32, Avira, AVG, ZoneAlarm, ClamAV.
    Until recently I was running Agnitums Outpost Pro firewall and Eset NOD32 antivirus. Both of which have been very good, NOD is a nice lightweight AV but it's not free.
    Recently I switched to Comodo Internet Scurity Pro which is a free security suite containing comodo's excellent firewall which always rates highly firewall tests, and their equaly impresive AV system if interested you can download it here:-
    comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=cis
    Choose the free version its identical to the paid version but without GeekBuddy.
    Also take a look at Avast Free or AVG free.
    If all else fails try Linux

    Is this a new application on this database?
    Has it run well in the past?
    I have had this happen before on a 32bit Windows server. Our problem was a poorly written procedure that kept pegging the cpu to 100%. You should be able to figure out what SQL is being used that is causing this problem, it will be the Top Working SQL most likely.
    I also had this problem on a Logical Standby server which was trying to apply SQL to the SYS.AUD$ table. As soon as SQL Apply was started, the CPU went to 100%. Once I truncated that table, the cpu usage went back to normal. Not sure what you are using to monitor your database but if you can, try to find out what SQL is running when your CPU goes to 100%.

  • "IMAQ Stop" takes 10sec to execute and consumes 100% CPU

    Hi, I'm calling IMAQ Stop to end an acquisition but it consumes 100% of my processor and takes 10sec to complete (all the while consuming 100% CPU).  In our application we start and stop the camera regularly and this is exactly when the user wants the program to be interactive so this 10sec delay is a big irritation to them.
    My setup is - Dalsa Piranha line scan camera, RT 9 running on a desktop PC  (it is compatible according to the test), PCI-1429 cameralink card.
    Any help or comments welcome.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Ah I have managed to solve this one, but first here are the answers to your questions:
    Using Stop and then Close or just Close makes no difference.  The Stop was taking so long that I simply used a probe before and after it on the error cluster and with 2009's probe timestamp function I could easily see how long it took.  For more detailed timing analysis I use the us timer available with RT.
    In any case, the way I solved the problem was by making sure that I stop the acquisition BEFORE the line clock to the camera is stopped.  So IMAQ Stop probably waits for the end of the current frame before it returns - and if the line clock stops halfway through a frame (as was the case), a 10 sec timeout probably causes Stop to return eventually.
    The line clock is being driven by a DAQ card (via RTSI) and I simply closed the session to that counter AFTER calling IMAQ Stop.  The DAQ interface is not shown in the example above as it is coded in a different vi.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • Mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.

    The mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.   I posted about this earlier and never got an answer.  Somebody, please help.
    Thanks.

    mDNSResponder is a background process that runs all the time. If you kill it, it's relaunched automatically.
    Please launch the Console application and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "mDNSResponder" (without the quotes) in the search field. Post a sample of the log messages in the Console window -- only one example of each repeated message, please.

  • One boe_jobcd process allways consuming 100% CPU

    Hi, I am running  Crystal reports server XI R2 Linux     on RHEL4
    Normally we have from 1 up to 4  boe_jobcd  processes depending on the "load" of our system, The processes seems to shutdown when not needed, But now  one of the 4 BOE_JOBCD processes will never die and it is consuming 100% cpu...
    Can I stop/kill the process?  How ?

    Dear Both,
    I traced the RAS server as suggested by Tim and obtained a log that - I have to admit - is quite difficult for me to understand. Could I send it to one of you for examination? Thanks in advance.
    Ted, please find below my answers to your questions:
    Just to close out possible data source issues, are the reports going against Business Views or Universes?
    The report is based on Business Views.
    Do you have Processing Extensions specified for the reports?
    Sorry but what are Processing Extensions?
    Also, when you checked in the Crystal Reports Designer, was it Designer installed on the same machine where the page server and RAS server is running?
    Yes, it is installed on the same machine.
    Also, since it affects both Page Server and RAS, it may require CRPE traces to get to the bottom of this (CRPE - 'creepy' - is the CR engine used by both the Page and RAS server).
    I will certainly open a case with SAP to have them help me on that.
    Thank you both for your help. It is very appreciated.

  • Wireportserver.exe is consuming 100% cpu

    Hi Experts,
    We are using SAP BI 4.0 sp6 windows for our BO Application.From last week onwards we are experiencing system freeze as the WIreportserver.exe consuming 100% cpu.we have to manually kill it to make the system work again.Even restarting the servers doesn't help!
    Sometimes this issue happens when if there are no user logged in.Recently there are no changes made to the server.Hence not sure what
    might be the reason behind this.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    Kishore

    I would request you to confirm the below steps.
    1) If you are using Load balance then please increase the Load Balancer idle session timeout .
    2) Can you also do this test: Please do take backup of the file.
    1- Open folder : <Your BO install Folder>\Tomcat55\webapps\AnalyticalReporting\WEB-INF\classes
    2- Edit file : webi.properties
    3- Change the lines :
    #WID_FAILOVER_SIZE=10
    #WID_STORAGE_TOKEN_STACK_SIZE=10
    By:
    WID_FAILOVER_SIZE=0
    WID_STORAGE_TOKEN_STACK_SIZE=0
    4- Save ans close the file
    5- Restart tomcat
    6- check if the issue is resolved
    3) Purge the query and run the same one by one. Once it is done then refresh all the queries. With this we can get to know which query is causing the issue. If you find that few queries are taking long time then foloow the below steps for that specific queries:
    a. . Edit the report and go to Edit Query.
    b. At bottom you can see the name of the Query
    c. Right click on Query and click Duplicate Query. It will create a copy of the original query.
    d. And then delete the original query.
    e. Do the same step for all queries
    f. Run all queries and then test the issue again.
    4) Run the report in Webi Rich Client. If it works then Save the report with different name and in different folder. And export same in Repository. From the Infoview try to refresh the report.
    5) Please check if using Web mode is acceptable workaround.
    6) In Universe Designer> parameter> Controls, uncheck the option 'Limit Execution Time To' and 'Limit Result Set To' parameters. By doing this it will allow users to create queries that have not been tuned, run for extended period of time .
    7) It is always recommended to Schedule the report which are of large size instead of refreshing. I would suggest you to schedule the report to resolve the issue.

    I you have any clue what might be going, I would be very happy to hear it. It's really annoying, as I have to kill explorer.exe and thereby close all my folder windows when this happens.
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    David Trapp

    Hello,
    thanks for having a look. However, I already ran SFC before posting on this forum (as part of my own investigation) and it came back clean. RescueTime (a time tracking tool) is probably not the culprit because it happened also several times in the past without
    RescueTime being running (that was because I had accidentally removed it from autorun at that time).
    Unfortunately, I can't follow your "invalid date" explanation. I don't think an "invalid date" is anywhere involved; in fact, the method in question is called "_TreeInvalidateItemInfo" and not "_TreeInvalidDateItemInfo"
    (note that there is only one "d"), so I assume its job is just to invalidate (and in turn, refresh) the cached information about nodes in the left pane's folder tree of the explorer window(s) - since the folder tree is the only NamespaceTreeControl
    (whose corresponding class name is CNscTree) in explorer folder view windows. As I see it, something is causing explorer to repeatedly refresh the folder tree data, but I am stuck at finding out what exactly.
    Best regards,
    David Trapp
    EDIT: Disassembling ExplorerFrame!CNscTree::_TreeInvalidateItemInfo confirms that, because it seems to call TreeView_SetItem for a tree node and its parent (possibly with all fields set to *_CALLBACK), and CNscTree::_UpdateItemDisplayInfo
    for the parent node.
    EDIT2: I'd love to dig more into the trace, however I am hitting a wall at function names/addresses. Everywhere where I would expect a function name/address (such as the "by stack" views), I only see question marks instead. What
    could be the reason?

  • Why does my iWork update hang with zsh consuming 100% cpu?

    The App Store updates for iWork Apps (Numbers, Keynote, Pages) have hung for me multiple times.  After some digging, the hangs appear related to setting zsh as my default shell (Open Directory UserShell /bin/zsh).  When an update is hung in App Store, Activity Monitor shows zsh is consuming ~100% cpu.  Inspecting the process, it's hung on zsh -c defaults delete com.apple.helpd com.apple.helpd.sdmMapsCreated or something similar each time.  If I kill the hung process enough times, eventually the update completes.
    Most recently encountered updating to Numbers 3.5.2 on OS X 10.10.1 with $SHELL=/bin/zsh 5.0.5 (x86_64-apple-darwin14.0).
    Possibly related to keynote not installing.
    Definitely related to http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/146919/zsh-using-100-of-cpu-during-iwor k-install.  The workaround described here is the only way I've gotten through it.

    You probably deleted something crucial to the stability of the operating system. I suggest backing up your important files, and doing a complete reinstall.

  • Oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu o windows

    Hi,
    We have 6 oracle 10g database on windows box and from task manager we are able to see oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu
    Need to know this oracle.exe belongs to which database and can i get the sql for this process
    Thanks

    On my Vista PC, I find that the easiest way to identify which instance an oracle.exe is, is the task manager. On the Processes tab, right-click the oracle.exe and then click Go To Service(s) and that takes me to the OracleServiceORCL or whichever insance it is.
    I'm sure there is a better way that a Windows person could tell us about. Then having identified the instance, it is just normal tuning from there.

  • JDK1.3: 100% CPU and total hanging up

    Our environemt is HP-UX with 4 CPU, 2.5Gb of memory. Java is 1.3.13 (latest release). All necessary Unix patches installed.
    We perform a load test over our application server with 40 users only. The test is pretty simple and doesn't deserve to be explained here (it uses no special system resources). In an unpredictable moment the java process utilizes 100% CPU and doesn't react to 'kill -3' but to 'kill -9' only. The problem is it happens whenever it wishes. No logic behind it. Every test loop takes about 1 minute to complete and the server gets stucked sometimes after 10 mins and sometimes after 3 houres of work. Changing java heap parameters and playing with new/old generation ratio also doesn't lead to any conclusion. Sometimes it happens before full gc but other settings allow full gc to happen every minute and the server works for hours.
    What can it be? Any ideas? Any directions of investingation the problem?

    What can it be? Any ideas? Any directions of investingation the problem?An endless do-nothing loop. I've seen HotSpot optimize such a loop to a single "jump-to-self" CPU instruction. HotSpot doesn't know how to insert a suspension safepoint into a loop that consists of a single instruction. When GC next kicks in it suspends every thread (including the signal dispatcher, which is responsible for a thread dump) but the nop-loop thread continues with free reign of the CPU.
    In my case the loop looked like the following. A thread is started running this class, later another thread passes it some data by calling put(). There is no synchronization so the former thread is not obliged to see the effects of any other thread. The optimizer legally considered this loop to be do-nothing.
    class ... implements Runnable {
        private Object data;
        public void put(Object data) {
            this.data = data;
        public void run() {
            while (true) {
                if (data == null) continue;
                // process data
    }Since you can't get a thread dump it's very hard to pinpoint the problematic piece of code (unless you have Sun's poprietary tools that restore Java state from a core file).
    If your code base is reasonably small, review it thoroughly for what can be an endless do-nothing loop. Another approach is to incrementally insert System.err.println("") into suspicious loops. This will add a call to native code and thus a suspension safepoint. Once you no longer can reproduce the problem, you must have hit the problemmatic loop. Go back and review it carefully.

  • CF4.5 uses 100% CPU and hangs

    Hello,
    According to the ColdFusion Forums my problem is not a new one but I still want
    to post it with the hope to get some kind of answer.
    I'm are running the following system:
    CF 4.5 Enterprise Server
    SiteMinder 6.0
    IIS 5.0
    MS SqlServer 2005
    Both the CF and database server are Win2000 SP4.
    About every one hours the CF server uses 100% CPU and from than on it is
    impossible to log into the application. The site is still available though.
    After restarting the CF service everything works fine until.....
    I do not know what triggers this but I suspect it has something to do with
    SiteMinder and logging onto the application.
    The site has to go live on Monday so you can imagine the pressure to get
    this fixed before the weekend.
    Greetings,
    Jilani

    Jilani, you mention that this seems connected to SiteMinder. Do you mean you have your own version of SiteMinder, separate from the built-in one that came with CF 4 and 5? I wonder if there could be a conflict between them. Why are you using the full SiteMinder? And do you really need it?
    More curious is that you say this spike happens every hour. Can you confirm if it's every 67 minutes, specifically? If so, then I would assert that this could be a problem related to the client variable purge process, which I discuss here:
    http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2006/10/4/bots_and_spiders_and_poor_CF_perfo rmance
    But that may not be the issue if simply enabling/disabling the siteminder service will immediately recreate your problem....unless somehow the DB used by SiteMinder is the same DB used for client variables. Do you have any datasources listed in the CF Admin page for client variables? Any chance there's a connection between them and siteminder?
    /charlie
    PS This whole issue of client variables and how they can hurt you unexpectedly is something I'll dicuss this Thursday at noon US EDT, when I present "Clients and Sessions and Crashes, Oh My", to the online ColdFusion Meetup: www.coldfusionmeeetup.com.
