Weblogic on windows
Hi,
just managed to configure my weblogic server domain to work as a windows service - seems the service is ok - I am able to start/stop it and get /console manager of the wls.
but now if I try to deploy my application, it fails. So I returned to without windows service environment where it works... my question is if somebody is running wls as windows service successfully
and if Oracle is working on windows installer like with iAS 10.1.3 ?
thanks,
Branislav
thanks for the replies,
I have followed that document and there is even newer for wls 10.3 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/wls/docs103/server_start/winservice.html
there is a section about adding classes to the classpath into the master script but how should I know if this is the issue and how should I know which classes to add to make my ADF app work?
is there any documentation ?
I still feel like wls is not ready for production run on windows
thanks,
Branislav

How to configure apache and weblogic in windows 2000
i am novice,
i want to configure apache and weblogic in windows 2000
weblogic version is 6.1
apache version is 2.0
how to do?George,
I would take the following 'first steps'
1)Install Apache20 on your Windows machine following the Apache online documentation
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/misc/tutorials.html
2)Make sure you can 'serve up' static HTML content from your Apache Server
3)Install Weblogic Server per our online documentation
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/index.html
4)Also, make sure you can 'serve up' both static and dynamic (e.g., JSP) content
directly from WLS server
5)Once you have both of the above 'sanity' checks attempt to configure a simple
proxy by ppath or mime type via our online documentation
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/apache.html#103803

Oralce EPM Fails to install Weblogic on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
I've run the installer on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and it fails to install Weblogic. I don't have MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common. Config tool log says missing jars. When I go back to install and choose products individually, Weblogic Server is gray. When I click on Weblogic Server, the message at the bottom says can not be installed.
I have checked that I have extracted the following assemblies:
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.0.0
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Foundation Services Release 11.1.2.0.0 - Parts 1 - 4
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Additional Content Release 11.1.2.0.0
I have run this same set of files on another server and Weblogic was installed. Am I missing something?I am not sure if it is your problem but I don't think R2 is officially supported, I did have problems with it when I first installed 11.1.2 so I installed with R1 SP2.
Cheers

How to install and run weblogic on windows via Cygwin?
As subject.
What you're asking doesn't make sense. WebLogic runs fine on Windows. When on Windows, use the Windows-based interfaces for WebLogic.
I've consistently been using Cygwin for many years, but it's important to understand that it is NOT an operating system. It's simply a port of several Unix-based applications and shells to the Windows API.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with writing Cygwin-based scripts that interact with the WebLogic server running on a Windows box. Bash is certainly a better shell for scripting than Windows CMD scripts.
If you have a more specific question, we might be able to answer it. -
WebLogic as Windows 2000 service over s shared file system
I am trying to install weblogic as a Windows 2000 service over a
shared file system with no sucess
(the shared fie system is provided by windows 2000 cluster services).
I am using the srvany utility to have the script that launches
weblogic be run as a service (I need this
because I must launch 2 instances of weblogic in the same machine
as services, i cannot do this
with the bea service tools, having different configurations for
the classpath, or can I?)
The service works if weblogic is not installed in a shared file
system.
On the shared file system, it fails (The service fails, is unabble
to start). I also made a script on the local file
system, that calls the weblogic script on the shared file system,
but weblogic fails to start (with no
message) when loading from the weblogic.classpath
thanks for your attenction,
Bruno Antunes
WhatEverSoft - Java CenterI have also tried running the service with the bea tools, with no
sucess when running in
the shared file system.
When i start the service, it seems to start ok, then stops. with
no message.
Nothing is written to the log, any ideas?

Failing to start Weblogic as Windows Service
I've seen this support case:
http://support.bea.com/application?namespace=askbea&origin=ask_bea_answer.jsp&event=link.view_answer_page_solution&answerpage=solution&page=jrock/S-26582.htm
Is this still an issue on Windows 2000 with WebLogic Platform 8.1 sp3 because I've struggeled getting the WLS server starting.
----- TrondHi Jit,
Rename the boot.properties to boot.properties_back,
Now are u able to start the Admin Server with direct StartAdmin.sh script???
If yes, what were the credentials used during startup, were they weblogic/weblogic???
If you have forgotten your username and password
Follow the steps provided in the below link for resetting the password
http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=323
Once you follow the above steps
Try login to console with the new username and password.
Now changes needs to be done in installSvc_iw.cmd
set WLS_USER=weblogic
set WLS_PW=weblogic Regards

Does Weblogic run on Windows XP ? If not is there any plan to support XP platform in the future?
Bea says they don't support WLS on XP but doesn't mean that WLS can't be run
on XP machines. I have 14 workstations running WLS 6.1sp3 on XP. They are
working fine.

Unable to use jstat with Weblogic on Windows
JDK 1.6.0_26 HotSpot
Windows Server 2003 SP2 Enterpise x64
Hello,
I am trying to use jstat and other similar tools to examine gc info. If I run jps, I only see the PIDs for jps, and jstatd (if I have it running). I am running Weblogic using Node Manager. Is there something I need to add to Node Manager property file to make the java.exe processes visible to jstat?
Thanks,
Rob

Added Os and JDK infoConsole Output
works for characters covered by Lucida Console font if the first character in a line is ASCII (code < 128, e.g. blank)
CHCP 65001
sqlplus
SQL> select ' ', unistr('Josef \0419\043E\0437\0435\0444') from dual;
Josef Йозеф
SQL> select ' ',unistr('Euro \20AC') from dual;
Euro €
Sven, windows is able to render the output (as covered by Lucida Console), but there is a quirk in MSVCRTxx (C Runtime-Lib), function fwrite(). The first byte in a line is passed separately to an isolated single write() call, which causes conversion of an utf8 sequence to fail.
Console Input
For non-ascii characters (code >= 128), ReadConsoleW must be called, e.g. through a simple filter converting UTF-16 stdin to UTF-8 stdout. -
Apache with weblogic serveron windows xp.

Can you plz tell me how to connect Apache http server to weblogic in the windows
os. The documentation provided is for linux platform. Can someone help me for
windows.
Thanks,

Please see the jdbc chapter in the PE 8.0 developer's guide for the correct configuration for MySQL
also make sure you can ping the connectionpool via the cli or the gui -
I started weblogic domain as windows service as it described in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13708/winservice.htm#i1186180.
After that i login to administrative console and i see, that DMS application deployed state in failed. In log i see, that weblogic does not see needed classes. Also I can't deploy my enterprise application for the same reason.
If I start weblogic domain as script, than all start successfully and I can deploy any application well.
What classpath is absent in windows script? The installSvc script calls just commEnv to set the classpath
call "%WL_HOME%\common\bin\commEnv.cmd"What you can try to do is call the setDomainEnv.cmd file instead (this also calls commEnv).
Usually with fusion middleware components extra classpath entry are added in the setDomainEnv script.
The setDomainEnv script is located in the <middleware-home>\user_projects\domains\domain-name\bin directory. -
Performance issue when put weblogic in Windows service
I am running a performance test on our application which sits on top of bea weblogic server 7.0sp2, I found out when I run the server as windows service, performance is much worse than I run it in command prompt. any thoughts ?
btw, I am running W2K SP4 server, 4G MEM, 4 CPUSsIt's hard to tell without more information, but my first suggestion
would be to double-check that the same parameters/config are being used
in both cases.
Any idea what part of your app is taking more time?

Why do I have to start Weblogic on Windows differently than recommended?
I have OBIEE 11.1.1. installed on Windows Server 2008 SP1 32-bit and basically running.
After a reboot, I need to get the system up and running.
Section 4.2 of the 11.1.1 Admin Guide says the first step is to start the Administration Server (which I understand to be Weblogic itself).
Section 4.7 says to do this using "startWebLogic.cmd -start" from a windows command console.
But that doesn't seem to work.
However, just doubleclicking on "startWebLogic.cmd" from Windows Explorer seems to work (except my MS-Office Plug-In doesn't seem to work). This double-click is of course not sending the "-start" command line parameter.
Does anyone have any comments on why following the instructions doesn't work.
Also, could my alternate way of starting Weblogic be causing my OBIEE Office Plug-In not to work?
Thanks very much, Russ. Thanks Christian for your reply. Could I ask a little more please?
I'm wondering why you say starting it with a double click doesn't give it environment variables? Are you saying if I had a bunch of stuff like PATH and what not set for every start of a windows command console, that starting it with a simple doubleclick doesn't grab those environment variables? That's interesting because doubleclick does start up a command console window which likely gets environment from somewhere. You can see the start log of the weblogic web server startup in that command window for several minutes as it starts up. That windows stays open forever.
However, if I run "StartWeblogic.cmd -start", it also seems to start a command console but that disappears almost instantly, and weblogic does not start.
So I can see that perhaps there could be an issue starting weblogic with a doubleclick if it doesn't use the same default environment as a manual start from the command line. But why then does the user guide recommended "StartWeblogic.cmd -start" not work at all?
I have searched StartWeblogic.cmd for "start" and can't find it except in echo and remark statements, or in path names. So I guess it's not used.
On thing I found is this which says there is a GUI way to start WebLogic. "When you create an Administration Server on a Windows computer, the Configuration Wizard creates a shortcut on the Start Menu for starting the server (User Projects > DOMAIN_NAME > Start Admin Server for WebLogic Server Domain)." from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13708/overview.htm#i1073146
However, I can't seem to find this on my Windows StartMenu. All I can find is Start > Oracle Weblogic > Quickstart. Do you think this is what the above link is referring too?
Lastly, you mentioned "presentation services". I've bumped into that term several times in my several weeks of trying to get this all up and running. Please what exactly do you mean by "Presentation Services"; I haven't been able to find a good definition of what that is (part of Weblogic, or of OBIEE, or of Node Manager, or of Enterprise Manager, or what? If I knew what Presentation Services was, it would help me to interpret your previous answer.
To answer your question slightly, when I double-click, I can see the Weblogic start up steps for several minutes in a command console window, with the last line saying it is in the started state. Thence if I use Windows StartMenu > Oracle Business Intelligence > Start BI Services, I see another command window start up and see the start up steps being echoed for several minutes. Then OBIEE seems to be up and running (at least enough to run SampleApp Lite). I can sign on to analytics, weblogic em, and fusion em.
But I do see some errors go by in the command consoles, and wonder if these are related to me double-clicking rather than using "startWeblogic.cmd -start". But using the latter just doesn't plain work.
Thanks very much for any further insight you can provide. Gratefully, Russ. -
Installing WebLogic on Windows 7 64-bit
I am new to weblogic and am trying to install it on my local machine but am having major issues. I found a document that stated I should have a "jar" folder in my MW_HOME but there is no such folder. I found a note where it says to perform the command:
java -jar wljarbuilder.jar
but I do not have the wljarbuilder.jar file - instead I have wljarbuilder.jar.pack.
Can anyone provide assistance? Or is there a weblogic for dummies that I can get?
Thanks in advance,
RobHi Rob,
What version of Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS) are you installing?
As I'm not sure what version you are using, I'll use WLS 10.3.6 as an example. Depending on the WebLogic Server download you downloaded, the file name that was downloaded should be "wls1036_generic.jar" (12c would be wls1211_generic.jar, etc.). Of course, if you are installing a different version of WLS such as 12c, the numbers will be different (everything else is the same). To start the installer, you can run the following command in Command Prompt (as an administrator): java -D64 -jar wls1036_generic.jar
IMPORTANT: You will need to have a JDK installed and deployed in your PATH environment variable; otherwise, the above command will not work. If you do not have a Java JDK installed (or downloaded), you can download the most recent JDK at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html. Make sure you download the version of the JDK that is certified with your version of WebLogic Server:
WLS 11g (10.3.x): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11gr1certmatrix.xls
WLS 12c (12.1.1.x): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-1211x-certmatrix-1395408.xls
If you do not have the jar file (or one similar) I mentioned above, you can download it with your OTN license at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-main-097127.html (or in Edelivery if you have purchased the software). It is the one in the section for Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Coherence that is for "Generic". Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Scott (PITSS)
