WebLogic on WinXP

Although WL7.0 does not support WinXP - has any one made a succesful installation?

Hi Alan,
I checked in
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/certifications/certs_810/winXP.html#48965
and it doesn't say that you need any patched for Windows Xp to instal WebLogic
8.1.
So you can go ahead and install it.

  • Weblogic 9.0 on WinXP 64bit with Sun JDK 64bit

I installed Weblogic 9.0 on WindowXP 64bit version and it's fine with build in Sun's JDK and JRockit JDK but as soon as I switch to Sun's 64bit implementation of JDK (update 5) it fails to start.
Am I doing something wrong or it is not compatible with 64bit JDK on windows platform?
If so are there any plans to make it compatible with Sun's JDK 64bit version on windows platform in the near future, or any chance of 64bit JRockit JDK for windows?

You should n^know by now that you have to give at least some basic information.

  • Please help me about jdeveloper application deployment for weblogic

At the beginning I just thought after developing an adf application then just deploy it as a .ear file and deploy it in the weblogic console and everything will be ok.But in fact I got a lot of problems. Then I got a tutorial for that and I do what it said step by step but some new problems occured. This is the tutorial I mentioned: [How-To: ADF Deployment Guide|http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/jdeveloper/howto/11114/managedserver/wlsadfms.htm]
Now could somebody tell how did you deploy your adf application?
Here is the errors I got.
This is the install packege and the OS I use:
    1. CentOS 6.3_x64 + jdeveloper11123.jar(include wls10.3.5) + adr(package name is ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.6.0_disk1_1of1.zip)[and just now I used a solaris11 vm from oracle and install jdeveloper11.1.2.3, the same probem occured as in CentOS.]
    2. Win7_x64 + jdeveoper11123.exe(include wls10.3.5) + adr mentioned above
Here is the problems I get:
in the case 1,after I install the jdeveloper(using sun jdk 1.7), the weblogic seems to be well though I didn't configure a domain. But after I open an
application(which I get from the oracle jdeveloper tutorial demo, which works well in my Win7 env) and I run it, the integrated weblogic can't get
started. Firstly in the console it said the -jrocket identifier is not recognized, then I modify the setDomainEnv.sh and the startWebLogic.sh file in the
integrated wls domain (the one in the .jdeveloper directer) to set the JAVA_VM variable to -server.After that another problem came out: when the
wls goes to status "starting",it is blocked and I turn to the system monitor it shows that a java thread using more than 1GB of memory of my system
and occupy 150% of my cpu(it's a double-core computer). I wait for about 5 minutes when a error came said "PermSize is too small".then I modify the
setDomainEnv.sh file again to set the PermSize to be 1024m and MaxPermSize to be 2048.(the variable name is something like that, maybe not the
exactly right. I think you can understand which one it is.) But the problem is still there.
then in the case 2.Firstly the jdev and the integrated wls works well, but when i deploy an application which works well to a ear file and deploy it to a
standalone wls(10.3.5) it never works.the error is something referrence/dependences libraries is not found. Then I tried to new a server connection to
the standalone wls and I got the tutorial [how_to_deploy_adf|http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/jdeveloper/howto/11114/managedserver/wlsadfms.html] , as the tutorial said I patch my standalone
wls with the adr and everything goes ok, no error reported. Then I tried the new server in the new machine under the manage of the adminserver and apply the
adf template in the localhost:port/em console. But after I restart the new server(by the console and then by the stop+startweblogic.bat file) the server is running
while the application in the new server is just "Unavailable". I tried this for three times in three computer, two of them are running win7,the other one is running winxp.
I don't know what is wrong and I am totally a newbie about this. Somebody please help me.Thanks a lot!
    regard,Neo.

    Neo,
there are a couple of problems. First of all, jdev comes with it'S own jdk bundled in the product (jdk 1.6_x). Next thing is if you use JDev 11.1.2.3.0 to build an application you must use a wls 10.3.5 or 10.3.6 where you need to install the correct runtime onto. In your case you first install adf runtime 11.1.1.6.0 and then you need to install two patches which update the adf runtime to 11.1.2.3.0. These spathes are only available via support.oracle.com, meaning you need asupport contract to get them.
More information you can find in my blog http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/jdeveloper-versions-vs-weblogic-server-versions/
The rest of your problems go away once you have installed the right adf runtime on your server.

  • How to get remote ejb client working with Weblogic 8.1?

I have Weblogic 8.1 running on a WinXP box behind my firewall. Port 7001 is open to WL and remote browsers can access the console.
I have a client machine running WinXP on a different network that is remote to the WL server. It can ping the WL server machine.
I use JVM 1.4.2_08 on all machines.
If I put my client machine on the LAN with the WL server, then my EJB test client works fine. If I put the client machine on the remote network then the test client fails with a ClassCastException when trying to do a PortableRemoteObject.narrow on the bean home.
I had this running fine on JBoss 3.22 using RMI over HTTP. I added an HTTP invoker service to my jboss.xml file. I don't know if something similar is needed on the Weblogic side - any ideas on that? All I've done on the WL side is turn on Tunneling - which obviously works because the remote client gets a correct home object when doing a lookup on the bean - based on the IOR string of the home obj.
Below I include my client code, exception, ejb-jar.xml and my weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
Any ideas on what else needs to be done so that a remote client can do a PortableRemoteObject.narrow? My client.jar has all of the EJB classes, and runs fine when run from LAN.
    Thanks,

For remote clients you need to generate and use the stub classes for EJB interfaces using Weblogic's appc utility.

This exception is because there are 2 different versions of your class.
Whenever there is a change in the class properties or attributes,
but server is using the old class file and in the jar file there is a change in class, so you get this InvalidClassException since there is a different version of class on server.

  • Windows 7 64-bit and Weblogic Server: Any Planned Release

I went to Weblogic page to see if there was any version for Windows 7 OS 64-bit, but found none.
Is there any plan in the near future for a release... with JDK 1.6?
My development is planning to upgrade from WinxP-MyEclipse-WebLogic 9 to Windows 7-MyEclipse9-WebLogic xx, where xx is any WebLogic Server version supported by the first 2 development tools.
Please help, we need to make a decision soon.

    Hi NickDeNora,
According to your description, we need to verify if you install
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and
correct the manifest file. The manifest file is readable (although empty), but we cannot edit it (even if you are an administrator). Only SYSTEM has access to the file. So to be able to edit it, you must first take ownership of
it and grant ACLs. After saving the file, then run the setup again.
    For more information , see:

  • Can't uninstall a network installation (Version: WebLogic 8.1 for Windows)

    Hi,
As described in the above subject, I encountered an error when trying to uninstall
WebLogic 8.1 for windows, which is installed from another computer (WINXP) thru
    network.
The installation executes on the remote machine. When asking the location for
BEA home, I specify a path on a network drive , something like z:\bea.
(z: is the drive of the computer I want weblogic to be installed. I do this because
it only has enough space for the final installation, but not together with the
    temporary files)
It seems that everything goes well, although the links in "Program Files" are
created on the remote machine only. However, when I want to uninstall it, I encounter
    problems.
First, when using the "add/remove programs" way, it complained that it was not
able to find the path to javaw.exe. I paste the full command Z:\bea\jdk141_03\bin\javaw.exe
    -Duninstall.dir="z:\bea\weblogic81\uninstall" -jar "z:\bea\weblogic81\common\lib\uninstall.jar"
and then it went on. Splash screen and the first wizard screen appears afterwards.
However, when I pressed "Next", a prompt appeared, with message ":[z:\bea]".
The same message appeared in console mode uninstallation.
Is there anyway to solve this problem? Thx!

    Hi,
I tried to replace all "Z:" to "C:" in registry.xml and re-uninstall again, but
    that doesn't work.
Actually the thing I want to happen is only to remove the current (and somehow
faulty?) installation. Is it 100% ok to just remove all the files manually?

It sounds like the install was done on one machine and you are trying
    to uninstall from
another. If that is true ...
Check the contents of the registry.xml file and see if the environment
    variables match
those of the machine you are working on. In particular, the items that
    specify host
    names and install directories.

    Hi,
    This is your issue.
    Starting WLS with line:
    C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JDK16~1.0_2\bin\java -client
it is looking for client folder under your JDK but mostly it will have server folder.
remove -client and provide -server in your startup script like setDomainEnv.cmd file and restart the server again.

  • Weblogic workshop test browser script error

    Hi all
whenever i run any portal sample through Workshop Test Browser ,i get following
    error.
a dialogue window "Internet Explorer script error" with following texts
An error has occured in the script on this page
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page ?
I am running Win2K professional, weblogic platform 8.1.1.0 and IE 5.0
But this problem does not appear in WinXP & IE6.0
ANy idea what is missing ?
    thx
    manjunath

    Hi manjunath,
I had the same error on a similar config (win2k, ie 5). We tried several
other configuration (with newer browsers) and didn't have the same
    experience.
I'm almost sure that the problem is the browser, which is too old and
doesn't support some featrue used by the webapp. If you can do it I
suggest to upgrade to a newer version.

  • Weblogic Server shutting down at Windows logout

I have an administration server running on a WinXP machine - it works fine, except that every time I log out of Windows, it dies. I can start and stop it remotely via Node Manager with nobody logged into Windows, but as soon as I log out, it dies. Needless to say, that's not an acceptable state of affairs.
The server logs seem to indicate that this dies when the JVM calls a WLS shutdown hook; http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do;jsessionid=d0b819f11f76f6ffffffffcf997b0034a8e29:YfiG?bug_id=4323062 seems to indicate this isn't a problem unique to weblogic, and the solution seems to be adding the -Xrs flag to JVM startup. (I'm using the Sun JVM) I used the server's admin console to add the flag to the Arguments field of the Server Start tab for the server, but the problem persists.
Anyone else dealt with this or have a suggestion?

Have you tried setting WebLogic to run as a Windows service?

Weblogic Test Browser is not able to handle miltiple windows. When javascript is used to open a new window, the test browser passes the control to the default browser of the machine but the session object is lost.
Can we expect support for Multiple browser windows in the future version?
BTW am running WebLogic Server 8.1 SP4.
