Weblogic  patch has broken the LDAP authentication

Hi,
We have installed  XIR2 SP4 on  Linux and also installed a patch for the weblogic ,after installing weblogic patch we are unable to login to the infoview using LDAP authentication getting  error  ""An Error has Occurred: java.lang.InstantiationException:Could not instantiate bean CE_Session, neither class nor beanName were specified."
Curently we have  uninstalled the weblogic  patch , now everyting is working fine.
We want to know the reason for this , why the instalation of patch has  broken the LDAP authentication?
Environment -
BOXIR2 SP4,
LINUX,
Web logic 9.2,
Oracle 10g.
Thank you  in Advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Bill.

You'll have to open an incident with support, that error doesn't seem like an actual LDAP error so go with deployment if you do. See if you can get an engineer to reproduce or trace your environment. This is the 1st time I've heard of a weblogic patch breaking LDAP.

Tim

  • Why we use the LDAP Authentication over the DB authentication?

    Hi All,
Why we use the LDAP Authentication over the DB authentication?
Any specific region is for that?
When we use LDAP do we need DB authentication again or it will be optional?
In same case in ADSI do the DB authentication is optional or compulsory .
    Thanks in advance
    Tusar

LDAP / AD authentication is useful if you already use it in your organisation and you'll find that most orgs have some form of user authentication already in place.
Do users in your company have to log into to their machines every morning? If so, why not use those credentials to control access to Siebel? It's a way of providing a single directory of employee authentication information available across applications, keeping maintenance and change costs down.
When you use LDAP authentication, you specify an AD object that contains a set of DB authentication details so that the component can access the Siebel database. In Siebel 8, you can directly specify those details in the security profile. As such, you only then have to maintain a single set of DB specific authentication details: much easier to manage. You can always switch back to DB authentication if you want to, but you'd have to go through all users accounts and create them with the same login and password specified in AD.

  • Installing HP Printer software update 3.0 has broken the scanner on my HP PSC 1355 printer.

Installing HP Printer software update 3.0 has broken the scanner on my HP PSC 1355 printer.
After the update, the printer prints correctly, but scanning from the Print and Scan, Preview or Image Capture fails with "Waiting for scanner" followed be "Failed to open a session on the device." Followed by the device disappears form ImageCapture.
I've tried restarting to the computer and printer and plugging it into another USB port - the results are the same. Printer utility hangs too.
    Solutions?

    did you try this:
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
In the Applications folder or from the Dock, click Preview.
From the Preview File menu, select Import from Scanner.
Select your printer from the list. The details of the scan display.
If a 'Software for this device is not installed' message displays after you select your printer, click Install, and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Click Show Details to view scan settings and options.
NOTE: Make sure that you select either the Flatbed mode or theDocument Feeder mode, depending on your printer and how you plan to scan.
Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan.

  • How does the LDAP authentication process?

    Hi All,
In SAP KB1384915(https://bosap-support.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/1384915), BOE client authentication's process is described as follows:
    1. The BOXI SDK calls the login on the BOXI client plugin (passing username & password).
    2. The BOXI client plugin passes the username and password to the third-party authentication server. This may be an LDAP server, or a Windows Active Directory server, or any other server that the BI Platform supports.
    3. The third-party authentication server authenticates the credentials. This generates a security buffer needed by the BOXI server-side authentication plugin.
    4. The SDK passes the security buffer to the CMS, which forwards it to the server-side plugin.
At this point the handshake process may be finished, or it may continue
    5. This exchange continues until the server-side authentication system indicates that the authentication process has completed.
Authentication always ends on the server side.
    6. The user has been authenticated. The CMS must verify that the user is a member of a mapped group before the logon process can complete.
    Question about LDAP auth,
I think that the client plugin doesn't know LDAP server's hostname & portnumber at the time of step2.(BOE server only knows it)
So I think, the client will access to BOE server to get the LDAP-related informations before the step.
Would you please tell me whether the following process is correct?
    1. The BOXI SDK calls the login on the BOXI client plugin.
    2. The client plugin gets LDAP-related information (LDAP hostname, portnum, base DN etc) from BOE server.
At this step, client plugin DOESN'T pass the username&password to BOE Server. Only get informations.
    3. The client plugin passes the username and password to the LDAP server.
    4. The LDAP server authenticates the credentials. This generates a security buffer needed by the BOXI server-side authentication plugin.
    5. The SDK passes the security buffer to the CMS, which forwards it to the server-side plugin.
At this point the handshake process may be finished, or it may continue
    6. This exchange continues until the server-side authentication system indicates that the authentication process has completed.
Authentication always ends on the server side.
    7. The user has been authenticated. The CMS must verify that the user is a member of a mapped group before the logon process can complete.
    Thanks&regards,
    Tadashi

    Hi,
in a BOE Environment the CMS does all of the authentication processes. So i would say that the Client passes the LDAP informations entered by the user to the CMS and the CMS does the authentication on behalf of the client.
If you need an official Statement, i would recommend you open a Support Message with the SAP Support.
Otherwise you could monitor the network traffic during the Authentication of the Client. There you should see if the Client communicates directly with the LDAP Host or only with the CMS.
    Regards

My grandson has broken his screen on his iPod 4th touch. Does anybody know how much apple charge to replace and do they do it while you wait

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for  64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs unless you have AppleCare+ extended warranty. Then it would be $29. They do not fix yours.

  • IWEB 2.0.4 has broken the photo's page w/ gradient background

After updating today to the latest iWeb, I created a new photo's page. All my pages have a gradient gray background.
When I click on a picture, instead of the gradient filling the whole page it only fills the area where the photo's are.
This is in both safari and firefox 3.0.1

YIKES!!! It's worse than I thought! How do I go back to the previous version of i-Web!!!!???!!!
Seriously, how do I downgrade to the previous version?
Ok, here is what I mean,
    1. Go to:
    http://web.me.com/pgirolam/paulgirolamomusic.com/Photos.html
Click on any photo, you'll see that the gradient feature goes all the way to the top.
This is the way it's supposed to look, and did in the previous version.
    2. Now go to the new page I created with the updated software.
    http://web.me.com/pgirolam/paulgirolamomusic.com/Photos_3.html
Click on one of the photo's and you'll see that the gradient fill is blocked off at the top of the photo's... This is wrong... this where I believe the newer version is broken.
    3. The newer version also broke another page, a page that looked fine in the previous version:
    http://web.me.com/pgirolam/paulgirolamomusic.com/BCM_Pix.html
You'll see that the gradient starts 1/2 way down the page!!!
I not only updated the web.me.com domain space, but also my webspace on go daddy and they both looked the same. I tested on two computers, iMac and a PC. Both yielded the same results. I also tested on three browsers on both iMac and PC, ie7, firefox 3.0.1 and Safari
The good news is I had a backup of the web content from the previous version of iWeb. To see the way it's supposed to look, before I upgraded iWeb, goto this link:
    http://www.paulgirolamomusic.com/Photos.html
    http://www.paulgirolamomusic.com/Photos_Cont.html
    http://www.paulgirolamomusic.com/BCM_Photos.html
Click on any photo, you'll see gradient all the way to the top.

Please do this after you verify all permission settings for all the groups the account is associated with. Also, make sure you check the NTFS folder permissions before doing this as well.
Since the same result happens on multiple computers, it is not the profile.
I am recommending you delete the AD account (or rename to backup the account).
It will not effect the users Exchange account, but you will need to link it back to the new AD user account.
You can also delete her profile just to remove it, for the "just in case" scenario.

  • Open LDAP Authenticator Configuration on WLSSP5

All these users appear in the Users tab after configuration on the console only if LDAP Server is up. While I select group tab, I get errors indicating BAD SEARCH Filter.
Inspite of me not having any groups in the ldap as indicated in ldif contents.
While I try to login t the application with this LDAP configuration, I do not get any errors. LDAP authentication is not happening with just the LDAP authenticator in place. CAN ANYONE HELP ME IDENTIFY WHAT IS THE ISSUE. Why is the authentication not happening?

    Hi Amol,
I've seen this happen at least two times in 11.1.1.1 installs. You can safely restart and then add the service back again. Suggest you reboot after you re-add the service back or cycle all the Hyperion services.
I was not aware you could install the service with that command.
I used the below command instead:
sc create OpenLDAP-slapd start= auto binPath= "D:\Hyperion\...\slapd.exe service" DisplayName= "Hyperion Shared Services OpenLAP"

  • AD LDAP authentication or authorization

    Hi,
It really drives me crazy because I can't seem to find the right solution for my issue.
I'm trying to use the LDAP authentication for my apex applications.
So far, straight forward LDAP authentication works just fine, but EVERYBODY who has a user account can log into any application.
I'm using the %LDAP_USER% string to validate the users and that's just fine.
But I want to restrict somehow users from logging into my applications.
Either way by ldap groups or an users table in every application.
Can someone please help me with this, or give me directions/examples of login functions/schemes?
    Thanks so much!
    Regards, Bas

What you have done so far is called Authentication. It's the question of "who am I?"
What you want to add is called Authorization, which is the "what can I do?"
So, you need to create an Authorization Scheme to secure components of your application. An authorization scheme can secure almost any component of an APEX app including:
    - The application
    - Pages
    - Tabs
    - Regions
    - List items
    - Items
    - Columns in reports
    - More that I'm not thinking of
Look at the doc on authorization schemes. You have 2 primary options that I can think of:
    1) Use LDAP groups by using the APEX_LDAP package to lookup information about a user. I'm not sure if the member_of function works against AD or just OID, you might need to use the get_attribute function instead. In short, you query AD, then return true or false based on the attributes of the user. Once they are logged in you can reference the username with the :APP_USER APEX variable
    2) A table of usernames (not passwords). You authorization scheme could just be an "Exists query" such as:
select 1 from valid_users where username = :APP_USEROnce you decide on an authorization scheme and create it, you then edit the security attributes of your app / page / region / etc and apply it

  • Getting the LDAP credential to do a SSO

    Hi All,
I am working on a java application which uses the LDAP authentication. So it prompts me a default LDAP (Standard Windows authentication) login box for the login.
Now from this java application i want to do a single sign on to a BI application (Cognos). To do this i would need a credentials which user has entered in the LDAP login box.
Is there a way to get these credential back for the logged in user.if this is possible then i can use these credential to use it for the Cognos SSO.
if this is not possible then any workaround?
    Thanks
    Amar

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but this is pretty much the problem I am trying to solve. In the VI I am writing, I am receiving a constant hex stream from COM5 on my desktop and doing some number manipulation to pick out and convert part of the hex stream to a Watt-Second number. I am than taking this number, every second, and dumping it to a text file for later use. Well, now I need to take the last two Watt-Second readings from the text file and subract the first from the second to get my power consumption. However, my problem lies within picking the last two measurements off the file. Even if I could get it so there were only two variables instead of writing to a text file, I could live with that, I just don't know how to do it. Also, is it even possible to do what I want to do, i.e. write and read from a text file within a second? Or would it have to be a longer gap or would there be file access issues?
I would like to try the VI screenshot that altenbach posted, but I have never seen those file icons on the left and can't find them in Labview.
I've also attached the VI I am working on, to avoid any confusion, the For loop where the data is being written to the file was my attempt at trying to get a row count for how many times a value was written to the file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • WLS 10.0: Security: LDAP Authenticator

    hi,
I'm using WLS 10.0 with the following security providers:
              - SQL Authenticator (for weblogic console users like system)
              - Identity Asserter (custom developed, takes care for AUTHENTICATION only)
              - LDAP Authenticator (out of the box, takes care for AUTHORIZATION only against a SUN ONE LDAP).
everything works fine except for the queries that the LDAP Authenticator provider generates:
For each login, the providers performs these queries:
              a)
              2007-11-26 14:57:08,410] conn=241357 op=10893 SRCH base="ou=people,ou=intranet,dc=novartis,dc=com" scope=2 filter="objectclass=person"
[2007-11-26 14:58:56,369] conn=241357 op=10893 RESULT err=4 tag=0 nentries=15000 etime=107959 mem=43481184/172441600                    as you can see, the query returns 15'000 entires (which is the max items for results inside SUN ONE LDAP).
              b)
                        [2007-11-22 12:04:31,943] conn=256293 op=12611 SRCH base="ou=people,ou=intranet,dc=novartis,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(&(uid=ADLERAI1)(objectclass=person))"
              [2007-11-22 12:04:32,031] conn=256293 op=12611 RESULT err=0 tag=0 nentries=1 etime=88 mem=14583600/46768128
this is the real query returning one single entry for the logged in user.
Does anyone know why LDAP AUthentication provider generates the first query?
              cheers
              balz

    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:20:37 PM GST> <Info> <netuix> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266142837729> <BEA-423101> <[console] Initializing the NetUIx container>
    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:20:39 PM GST> <Info> <netuix> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266142839433> <BEA-423120> <WEB-INF/client-classifications.xml file not found at uri [webapp]. Classifications functionality not enabled.>
    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:36:43 PM GST> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <Thread-1> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266143803604> <BEA-000388> <JVM called WLS shutdown hook. The server will force shutdown now>
    2. Since you mentioned this worked fine and nothing else is changed over a year, the possible cause may be like this. Looks like you have some Documentum stuff (or webapp or modules) loaded on this server. I am not much familiar with EMC Documentum stuff, except that we use that as external Content Management repository for Portal Applications. Looking at the full thread dump for thread 0, looks like documentum code is trying to publish something or interact with its documentum server and may be it is not getting the response back. So make sure if any external systems that this WLS interacts are all up and running.

  • Interface creation...[LDAP Authentication]

    Hi...All SAP Xi friends,
i have to work on an interface creation with the following specifications:
          1.  SAP Enterprise Portal gives us an URL which contains UserID
          2.   You have to create an interface to read the URL,
          3.  Connect to LDAP server...from there come to know whether it is external or internal user, meaning if it exist in LDAP it is internal otherwise it is external user
          4.  If the user id is internal, interface has to create a file and place it at a particular location & create a webservice for this and expose to EP
           5. if not it should give an alert saying it is an external user id
Please help me out how to start and what to do..!
             Thank you.

? Why is the Loginid cn=dsameuser,ou=DSAME, and not the uid the of the user i use?
This is strange you should see the loginid of the user ..
    try directly logging in using
http://server:port/amserver/login?org=orgname, this should present a list of the auth modules you have enabled.
?Has anyone else got the same warning at the Loginchannel, using the "display_AuthLDAP.html" instead of the original "display.html" ? i tried it at two different machines, but the same error occurs.
I have used it and worked fine for me.
? What else can I do to make the LDAP Authentication work?
Is bind as Directory Manager absolutely necessary or have you setup your external ldap for anonymous bind. If that is the case then you don't need to bind.
One other thing you can do is enable debug logging. Change the logging level in /opt/SUNWam/lib/AMConfig.properties to message and restart the server. This should give you additonal information.
