Weblogic Portal 10.3.6 Implementing Fork

We are having a requirement of implementing multiple portlets running parallel to improve the performance. But, there are some inter-dependencies between 'some' of the portlets. We tried implementing FORK for the portlets in order to execute the portlets in parallel. Because of dependencies among the portlets, we are not getting the required results. We tried implementing IPC along with Fork option but that's not working as expected.  As per Oracle documentation IPC are not suggested to be used along with FORK. My Questions below
Do we have an option to implement FORK and also implement WAIT for some portlets which has dependencies? For example, if i have Portlet-A, Portlet-B, Portlet-C and Portlet-D. Where Portlet-B, Portlet-C and Portlet-D are dependent on Portlet-A. Can we implement FORK to Portlet-B, Portlet-C and Portlet-D and make them wait till Portlet-A is complete? If we set Portlet-B, Portlet-C and Portlet-D as FORKABLE, it starts executing in parallel to Portlet-A because of which we are not getting expected results.
Any other ideas/options for this implementing this requirement is appreciated.

Yes it is if you use the windows installer and not the generic installer.

  • Implement blog and discussion forum using weblogic portal or web center

    Hi All,
    Has anybody implemented blog or discussion forum using weblogic portal or oracle web center?
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    We are trying something similar. We are using a WebCenter application and using built in task flows. These can now be deployed as portlets on WebLogic portal.
    Another approach i can think of is using Jive Services (Restful services) directly from a custom J2EE appplication (Exactly same thing which Oracle provided Task Flow does). This will give you more control.
    For Wiki, there is no such alternative.

  • Implement a blog and discussion forum using weblogic portal

    Hi All,
    Has anybody implemented blog and discussion forum using weblogic portal or oracle web center?
    What are the best options?
    Thanks
    Ananth

    As far as I remember, Web Center have these Portlets BUT I guess the backend application server for them was Oracles Application Server. So you may end up using WebCenter with Oracle App Server for these Blogs, Forums Portlet. But the latest release of WebCenter kind of supports on Weblogic Server as backend app server. See this bottom link and click on More Info " + " icon next to WebCenter Suite and see Required Software section.
    http://database.in2p3.fr/doc/oracle/Oracle_Application_Server_10_Release_3/webcenter.1013/b31074/jpsdg_jive.htm (Uses Oracles OC4J App Server)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/fmw_11_download.html?rssid=rss_otn_soft
    I know WebCenter does have Beehive Services for Forums, Blogs, Wikis, but not sure if they have Portlets for these Services. Check in WebCenter Forums and post this question there.

  • JSF in Weblogic Portal

    Hello Friends,
    I am using first time JSF portlets in weblogic portal 10.2
    I created jsf page and generated portlet based on it.
    I added the portlet to my first page.
    When I try to access the portal app I get below error.
    I spent almost 3days on this but still not able to get it working. Some forums say that this issue is becaz of having sun jsf and my faces in the project class path. My project class path has none of them. Is there any other place I need to look for them.
    I tried commenting jsf-ri in weblogic.xml and C:\bea\user_projects\domains\my_domain\config\config.xml.. BUT STILL NO LUCK :-)
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    hello friends,
    sorry i took long time to reply. i was on vacation for a month and then i forgot the pwd :-) I currently use default myfaces that comes with weblogic portal10.2.
    I think the problem I mentioned in my first thread was becaz the project was originally started on wlp10 using weblogic workshop & sun jsf ri. So when I started using the inital project setup in wlp10.2 and weblogic workspace studio1.1 I ended up with that issue. To resolve the issue I followed the below steps..
    1. recreated the project in wlp10.2 using weblogic workspace studio 1.1
    2. while creating portal war i selected myfaces as my jsf implementation
    It's hard to say what the excat problem was but doing this I could able to solve it.

  • Announcing: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3 : Password Expiry Policy for DefaultAuthenticator

    Hi,
    I wan to create a Password Expiry Policy for Default Authenticator in Weblogic Portal can somebody explain me the steps.
    Password: Should be minimum 8 characters and One Capital letter and One Number minimum
    Password: Should be expired after 90 days
    Thanks in Advance,
    Viswanath K

    You cannot directly do this as far as I know.
    a. Either write your own custom authentication provider that implements these rules, or use an off the shelf LDAP that lets you specify these rules
    b. Implement this outside the authenticator (i.e. when the user specifies the password , validate these rules). When the user changes his password , record the date, when the user logs in , check the date for expiry etc,

  • Weblogic portal 10.3 - How to make JSF page to display different jspx page

    Hi,
    I am new to Weblogic Portal Technology. In my porject I am using trinidad jsf 1.1 and weblogic portal 10.3. I have an issue in changing the jspx path in the JSF portlet at runtime. My scenario is as given below.
    I have a left portlet and a right portlet on my consumer.portal page.
    Left Portlet:_
    The left portlet contains a custom menu created using commandlink tag in trinidad JSF.
    Right Portlet:_
    The right portlet contains a content portlet which will display the jspx.
    Problem:_
    When I click on the menu item link in the left portlet, the right portlet should display the appropriate jspx.
    Is there any solution for this scenario? Can anyone provide me step by step procedure to implement the above scenario?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chris,
    I have already gone through this document. But the procedure that is given in it is not working. I mean I am not able to render diffferent different jspx files based on the menu link clicked. It will great if you can provide me steps by step process since I am new to the portal World.
    Thanks a lot for your reply

  • WebLogic Portal vs Oracle Portal

    Anyone know the differences in term of features of WebLogic Portal and Oracle Portal?
    i) WebLogic Portal supports Web 2.0 while Oracle Portal doesn't?
    ii) Oracle Portal provides SSO to oracle applications while WebLogic Portal doesn't?
    Any other different features?
    Please advise, thanks.

    There are lots of differences, but I think you should post your question in the WebCenter and Web 2.0 Technology forum with some additional detail as to why you are asking:
    WebCenter Portal
    For example, are you making a technology choice for a particular project? What portal requirements do you have? What are the skillsets of those who will be implementing, etc.
    The long term strategy is to converge on the WebCenter product, but there are nuances that may make other portal products a better fit in the short-term.

    Anyone has experience with Weblogic portal Integration with UCM by weblogic virtual repository? Thanks.

    Since only folders_g can be used for integrating with Webcenter Spaces/Portal we are not sure of what our strategy should be. Is there plan to use framework folders with Webenter in the future?Certainly there are. Unfortunately, no exact date/release has been communicated so far. If you need a quick implementation (following few next months) I'm afraid you will have to go with folder_g

  • How to add Friendly URLs in Weblogic Portal?

    Hi,
    We are developing a portal using Weblogic 10gR3. Right now the URL's that are getting formed are very long which includes the nfpb, nfls, pagelabel e.t.c. The requirement is to have a very user friendly url something like http://www.x.com/portal/<<pageLabel>>
    The Weblogic documentation mentions something about URL compression, however unable to apply it for dynamic URL's. We have URL's which are formed on the fly from the WLP Content Repository
    Is there some kind of servlet / filter provided within WLP. I read somewhere about an URLTransformationServlet. But there was no documentation on its usage. Can some one share a sample code snippet with me. That would be really really helpful, as we are having a slight time crunch here.
    Any kind of help on this will be deeply appreciated. Thanks
    Thanks and Regards,
    Lilly

    our development environment we are getting exception Unable to render /framework/skeletons/bharti_skeleton/singlelevelmenu.jsp .
    I have also checked feasibility for the URL navigation changes provided and will not work for left menu
    and footer URL because while rendering these URL we are not using single level menu jsp or multilevel menu jsp.
    Please check with these comments and update ASAP.
    Regards

    Since your question about Rich Text support in CMS is not related to portal urls, I would request you raise this as a separate issue.
    In the new SR, please elaborate what you mean by the Rich Text support, whats your proposed use case, whats working and what is not.
    Could you also confirm if the further information I have provided regarding making changes to the url meets your requirement.

    Could you let me know if this meets your requirement.

    weblogic portal does not provide any out of the box way to achieve this functionality

    WLProxy configuration falls under the weblogic server product hence you will have to raise an SR with that product to get any suggestions.
    Before that I would suggest you play around with the parameter I have suggested and see how it is impacting the url and then if there is any specific area you are stuck on check with the WLS team.
    Like I mentioned earlier, I do not know if this will completely meet your business requirement, but something you can look into.

    URLCompression servlet is the only option that weblogic portal provides out of the box to compress the URL of WLP. I understand this does not suite your requirement.
    The other option I can think of that can possibly help you achieve this is to configure any weblogic proxy plugin that you might be making use of, see the document
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/plugins/plugin_params.html#wp1143055 look for PathTrim, PathPrepend

    Hi,
    Even thogh after implementing the below changes,still we are not able to get the result. " nfpb parameter is still existing in URL ".
    Implementing URL Compression :
    To configure a webapp to use url compression, follow these steps:
    1. Define the compression servlet in web.xml; for example
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.bea.portlet.compression.UrlCompressionServlet
    </servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>defaultPage</param-name>
    <param-value>/index.jsp</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>errorPage</param-name>
    <param-value>/errors/error.jsp</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    2. Map the compression pattern; for example:
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>wlp.c</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    3. Add the token {url:compression} to the templates for which you want to apply compression.
    Please suggest on this ASAP.
    Regards,
    Eranna D.

  • Custom login module for weblogic portal 10.3.2

    Hi everyone
    i want to develop a custom portal login module for weblogic..
    can anyone help me out with details how can i implement it ...any links provided will ve very useful
    Thanks in advance.

    The credentials given on that page are wrong for 10.3.2. (They might be correct for 10.3, but that's not my problem.) I found the correct credentials -- weblogic / webl0gic -- at this URL:
    weblogic portal 10.3.2 sample domain admin console question
    It's also given correctly in section 6 of the Getting Started Guide, but you have to know to look there first.
