WebLogic Portal 10.3.6 installation

Can someone please confirm if Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse is included with the installation of WebLogic Portal 10.3.6?

Yes it is if you use the windows installer and not the generic installer.

    Is there any MOS note that lists which patches should be applied on top of a WebLogic Portal 10.3.5 installation?

    Thank you Emmanuel.
    Is it because the features in Portal Examples were not supported anymore since 10.3.4?

    This is my first Oracle Weblogic Portal/Server 10.3 installation.
    I haven't seen this kinds of problems with Bea Weblogic Portal 8.1.6 and my remotestart configurations are very similar between the 8.1 and 10.3 installations.

  • How to integrate Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal

    Hi
    I am following this documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1013214
    to setup my development environment for developing portal applications, but I cannot set it up, my eclipse does not have PORTAL perspective.
    I have downloaded the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5) and the Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3 as mentioned in the documentation.
    The Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3 includes a workshop version of eclipse, but that is not based on a recent Eclipse, that is why I would like to use the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5).
    It is weird int he Oracle Portal 10.3 installation that I cannot install the Weblogic Portal without the Workshop.
    Could you help me in this? How can I integrate the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal?
    Thank you.

    For WebLogic Portal tooling you have a couple of options. For WebLogic Portal 10.3 and older, Workshop for WebLogic will be your tooling environment.
    Starting in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2, which released this year, the development tools have migrated to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. The WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 installer will install both the runtime and the IDE configured with additional WebLogic Portal Eclipse features (Portal Project Configuration, Perspecitives, Palettes, Deployment, etc).
    If you are interest in the latest version, you can download from the WebLogic Portal OTN page - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/index.html

    Hi,
    I have installed Weblogic 10.3 Server.
    And when I try to create a portal domain / portal project I don't have such option at all(New > Project > Weblogic Portal is not appearing).
    Could anybody help me out saying whether I need to get a different installation or I have missed anything else.

    Hello John,
    Used the host name instead of the ip address in the url http://<host name>:50400/irj/portal.
    Maintain the host name in the host file of the OS.

  • WebLogic Portal 10.3 cannot initialize graphical installation in Debian 6.0

    Hello everyone.
    I have a problem with installing WebLogic Portal (and WebLogic Server also) with graphic mode in Debian 6.0 Squeeze. I've installed normally in Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 (openjdk-6 amd64), and everything works nice.
    But when I tried to install it in my Debian 6.0 amd64 laptop (Dell Latitude e6400), I have alot of problems. I cannot install weblogic portal (file: portal103_linux32.bin) in graphic mode, and the same problems occur with creating weblogic domain (cannot run config.sh in graphical mode). I know that I can install WebLogic and create domain in command line mode, but the main problem is unable to run Eclipse (OEPE).
    I tried to change JVM from amd64 to i386 and from Sun JVM to JRockit JVM but nothing change. I'm a developer so that I cannot work without Eclipse, please help me to solve this problem.
    Thank in advance.
    Regards.

    This is a bug, CR379999. that will be fixed WLP 10.4. In the meantime, here's the workaround from the bug report:
    Download the plugin manually, and either 1) create an extension location on the file system from it and add that via Help|Software Updates|Manage Configuration, or 2) extract it to one of the workshop eclipse folders (i.e. tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/eclipse_3.3.2, tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/pkgs/eclipse, workshop_10.3/workshop4WP/eclipse, wlportal_10.3/eclipse).
    Additionally, you can comment out the com.* import lines in your %BEA_HOME%\wlportal_10.3\eclipse\features\com.bea.wlp_10.3.0\feature.xml, like this:
    <requires>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.core.runtime" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.ui" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <!--
    <import feature="com.m7.nitrox" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.cmdline.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.common.feature" version="1.1.40" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.upgrade81.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.web.feature" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.wls.feature" version="1.1.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.xmlbeans.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    -->
    </requires>
    Then restart Workshop. Sorry for the trouble.

  • Installer for Weblogic Portal Sever

    Hi, am trying to install the Weblogic Portal server 10.3.2 from the following link.
    From => http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
    I downloaded the file that is for "Windows x86" as i am on Windows XP/SP3.
    1)What do i need to do next ? Seems like it is not a .exe file, and if so how do i get it started to install ?
    2) On another machine, i have Weblogic app server of the same version, will it allow to install the portal with this existing version of App server ?
    Thanks in Advance.

    I guess one way, which seems to work is , When the pop-up appears asking for the location where u want to download the exe, save the filename as "portal103_win32.exe" , instead of accepting it as is.

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 for Windows 64 bit with OEPE

    Our environment is Windows 64 bit and we are upgrading from Weblogic Portal 9.2 to 10.3.2.
    I have installed Weblogic Portal for 64 bit using generic installer and have also installed OEPE Helios for 64 bit.
    I am not getting Portal perspective in Eclipse?

    These issues are why we dropped every Oracle products for our new projects. We only kept Oracle SGBD.
    Working with Oracle products costs a lot, impose specific tools, impose specific environment (can't work with Windows 7/x64), doesn't integrate in standard toolchains (eclipse, maven, continuous integration, ...). More, you don't have any control on product evolutions and maintenance.
    With this decision we saved a lot of money, a lot of time, quality, and community support is far more powerful than buyers think. Nothing is better than standards!
    Sorry Oracle but I think you need to seriously rethink your commercial behavior and your relationship with J2EE developers.

  • Errors in Weblogic server log for Weblogic Portal

    Hi,
    I apologize if the question has been posted and answered.. I had searched but couldn't find anything in this forum.
    My post is a bit lengthy as I will be providing as much details as possible.. sorry about that.. :)
    I am new to Weblogic server and Weblogic Portal.. in fact I have never worked on portals. I have installed the Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 along with the Weblogic. I have used quickstart to create a domain. There I have configured the following data sources:
    appsGroupSpaceDataSource
    cgDataSource
    cgDataSource-nonXA
    p13nDataSource
    portalDataSource
    portalDataSourceAlwaysXA
    portalDataSourceNeverXA
    My database is oracle 11g. I have created a user and granted the user all the admin roles and priviledges
    The database connection test had worked for all the sources except appsGroupSpaceDataSource where the test query SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES failed as there was no such table in the database.
    I had run the following scripts:
    Drop/Create Groupspace Database Objects (appsGroupSpaceDataSource )
    Drop/Create P13N Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
    Drop/Create Content Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
    Drop/Create Portal Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
    There were no scripts to run for the other data sources.
    After installation whenever I am starting the admin server I am seeing this error in the console:
    <Sep 17, 2010 12:48:05 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "appsGroupSpaceDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ".>
    <Sep 17, 2010 12:48:05 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "cgDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ".>
    <Sep 17, 2010 12:48:06 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "cgDataSource-nonXA" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ".>
    <Sep 17, 2010 12:48:06 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "p13nDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ".>
    <Sep 17, 2010 12:48:07 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "portalDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ".>
    And the errors are happening in an infinite loop....
    I checked and there is no table created in that name in the database.. and being totally new to weblogic I am not sure where else to check.
    It would be great if some one could help me track the cause and resolve this..
    Thanks a lot for reading the long post.. and double thanks for a reply.. :)

    I digged in the weblogic installation directory and it seems like the domain configuration wizard messed up the jdbc configs for the data sources.
    The config xml files for the data sources in the /domain root/config/jdbc directory had oracle driver but the test query was for pointbase. I double checked from the database.xml file in the init-info directory and corrected the entry in the datasource config xmls and voila!.. the errors were gone.
    I am not sure if this was the right approach and whether i have solved the issue or simply patched it.. so I am keeping the question open. If any one has any inputs I will be grateful.
    If the mods/admins feel that the thread should be marked as solved I will surely do so.
    Thanks.

  • Error when using weblogic portal 10.3.5

    Hi, everyone.
    - I'm using weblogic portal 10.3.2 to develop a portal. Now, i deploy my project for customer but they want to deploy it in Centos OS.
    - I down load weblogic portal form oracle site but it don't have 10.3.2 version. I use the latest version oracle weblogic portal 10.3.5 but when run my project it has error:
    com.bea.content.AuthenticationException: Error authenticating to repository: WLP. Possible cause could include, but is not limited to a bad repository configuration or the repository is unknown. Error message: java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException
    - Can anyone help me the link down load oracle weblogic portal 10.3.2 for linux or help me resolve this error.
    Thank a lot!

    Hi..
    They changed a few things in 10.3.. see http://edocs.bea.com/common/docs103/install/silent.html#wp1044118
    looks like the Server sub category has changed to Core Application Server..
    If you checkout the log.txt file in the logs directory of the root where you've installed a copy using the gui, it generally lists all the installation options available.
    ..Mark.

  • How to install Weblogic Portal 10.3.0

    Dear All,
    I need to install Weblogic Portal 10.3.0 in two flavaors. 1) Single instance 2)In a cluster.
    I'm relative new to Weblogic Portal. The platform is solaris 10 64 bit. Can anyone provide a step-by-step installation sequence?
    I read the installation guide but it says nothing about how the installation would work. This is what I have done till now:
    1. Installed the WLP 10.3.0 with Weblogic Server, Weblogic Portal and Workshop components.
    2. After installation, ran config.sh command and configured Admin server and one managed server (to support portal).
    But after my domain is created and I start my managed server, I see nothing in the deployments page. There are no errors either in the log files.
    IS there a step I'm missing? Do we need to manually deploy portal application? if yes, how?
    Any help would be truly appreciated.

    Hi RB!
    Sounds like you just starting off fresh with WLP. This may or may not help. I suggest learning some of the basics of creating a Portal.Ear file and deploying it to other environments.

    Using WebLogic Portal
    If you are new to WebLogic Portal, a short tutorial is provided to help you get started. See Tutorials – Getting Started with WebLogic Portal for more information. The tutorials discuss setting up a portal development environment, creating a portal, and assembling a desktop in your staging environment.
    Tip:      If you are unfamiliar with the Eclipse development environment on which Workshop for WebLogic is based, the tutorial “Getting Started with Workshop for WebLogic” located in the Oracle Workshop for WebLogic User’s Guide, is highly recommended; the tutorial shows you how to start Workshop for WebLogic and navigate the workbench user interface, introduces terminology associated with the workbench, and shows you how to create a simple web application.
    The WebLogic Portal Overview provides a starting point for understanding and developing applications with WebLogic Portal. This chapter introduces portal concepts, describes the WebLogic Portal infrastructure framework and business services, and describes the portal life cycle, from architecture through development, staging, and production. The remaining chapters in this guide describe each phase of the life cycle in detail and provide a starting point for using WebLogic Portal.

  • WebLogic Portal (10.3.0) requires feature "com.m7.nitrox (1.0.20)" (?)

    (I'm re-posting as WebLogic Portal (10.3.0) requires feature "com.m7.nitrox (1.0.20)" (?))
    Greetings. I just installed WebLogic Portal 10.3 and I'm trying to install a couple of plug ins to Workshop/Eclipse, but whenever I select any item to install I get this error:
    WebLogic Portal (10.3.0) requires feature "com.m7.nitrox (1.0.20)", or compatible.
    Everything else seems to be working fine, so I'm not sure why my installation is giving me this issue. I've done a bit of digging already and haven't found what may be causing this issue, and I'm hoping someone here may be able to point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

    This is a known issue with WLP 10.3; it has been addressed for the next release of WLP. You could contact support to try to get a patch created (reference CR379999).
    I can think of 2 possible workarounds:
    1. Download the new plugin manually, and either a) create an extension location on the file system from it and add that via Help|Software Updates|Manage Configuration, or b) extract it to one of the workshop eclipse folders (i.e. tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/eclipse_3.3.2, tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/pkgs/eclipse, workshop_10.3/workshop4WP/eclipse, wlportal_10.3/eclipse) and restart Workshop.
    2. Edit <beadir>/wlportal_10.3/eclipse/features/com.bea.wlp_10.3.0/feature.xml, comment out the <import feature="com.bea.*"/> lines in the <requires> block, restart Workshop, and try again.
