Weblogic Portal Admin Console is not displayed after the ear deployment

Hi
There is a Weblogic portal application deployed in the Weblogic Server 9.2 mp3 . The application is fine , when opened with the browser, but the problem is the portal admnistrator console is not opened.
The application is deployed in a clustered environment with an Admin server and one managed server. The domain is configured for Production Mode and running in an Solaris environment.
I had another similar kind of domain where the application is running fine and the weblogic portal admin console is also fine.
The following difference is observed in both the server logs. I see that there is some problem with the initialization of /WEB-INF/beehive-netui-config.xml. The log continues with the messages like "< Pushing body text '" etc.

how did you create this domain? Is this dataSource defined - portalFrameworkPoolAlwaysXA? is it targetted to cluster? did you get errors on startup related to this dataSource?

  • Equivalent of Weblogic Portal admin console in Webcenter ?

Our company is currently equipped with Weblogic Portal (WLP) 10.3.2. I'm part fo the team in preparing a migration approach study to Oracle Webcenter (OWC).
In WLP 10.3.2 we are using JSF, WSRP and 286 portlets. Hence most of it can be reused in OWC.
Regarding run time customisation in Weblogic+ Portal administration console we can create desktop and include books, pages, portlets in Portal.
Can we achieve the same in Oracle Webcenter through Webcenter Portal administration console ?
While going through Oracle documentation I found the foll. thing "Composer in WebCenter Portal has been leveraged extensively inside Oracle WebCenter Portal: Spaces to allow users to customize and personalize spaces."
I'm not clear if I can achieve the equivalent of Weblogic Portal administration console+ in Webcenter using Webcenter Portal administration console (or) Spaces (or) Composer ?
Any helpful pointers / links would be helpful.
Thanks for the helping heart in advance.

As you are expecting simple mapping, it will be not be there, because they change whole product in such way that there is no one to one mapping between weblogic portal and webcenter portal.
Spaces used for run time development of team sites and other collaboration sites, so this will be not useful to you in your scenario. Composer is run time customization of page. So if you want to give user capability to change content and page then you can use this feature.
But for your answer or requirement you can use web center portal admin console to create pages and put portlet inside it from WC Portal Admin console. I know you might have gone through tutorials, but here is the quick one.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_admin_apps.htm
With WC oracle made too much complexity to understand. As a weblogic portal developer I also always try to compare things with WL portal :-)

Force quit in the middle of an installation spells "trouble". Try starting the computer in Safe Mode. If successful, restart the computer and see if it fully boots. If not, you more than likely have directory damage that needs to be repaired. Disk Utility may be up to the task.

  • Could not retain the repository connections in portal admin console.

    Hi
i have created additional WLP repository (stream based) in oracle.
and configured as datasource in server console. and added respective JNDI name in portal admin console.
and i could add/delete the content. But when ever i am restarting the machine i am loosing the added connection from portal admin console only.the connection configuration server console is safe.
each time i have to configure it with same JNDI name add work with it in portal admin console only when ever i restart the machine.
The content and datasources configuration is safe .
but When ever i am creating additional WLP repository i could not see the respective details have updated in content-mgmt.xml in EAR meta-inf.
is that because of that. if so why it is getting updated when it is adding new connection in admin console.

When you create a Repository connection at run-time using the Portal Admin, the configuration is written to a Deployment Plan. By default, the Deployment Plan is written to a location which can be deleted during an application redeployment. You can specify a location for the deployment plan, which will not get deleted, via the WebLogic Server Console or you can add the information to the content-config.xml in <earProject>/meta-inf.

  • In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying

    Hi,
I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?
    Thanks,
    kundan

It is because the user has no proper permissions  to the porta content folder.
you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

  • Session property set not updating in Portal Admin console

    Hello,
We have a Portal application running on 10 MP1. Included in the EAR file is a session property set and is correctly stored in the right directory (META-INF/data).
When deployed, I can view our session properties when I try to create some entitlements and expressions. However, we need to update the name of one property and when we redeployed the EAR with an updated session property file, in the Portal Admin console, the session property still has the old name.
This happens on one of our environments, but does not happen on my local machine. On my local machine, when I look at the database, the DATA_SYNC_ITEM table is empty. But on our other environment (where the problem exists), in the database I can see relevant entries for my app and property file in the DATA_SYNC_ITEM table.
Does anyone have any ideas why this table is not populated on my local machine and why I can't seem to update the session property file on my other environment where the table is populated?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Probably either development mode /prodiction mode differences or differences between deploying as an exploded ear (local) and a compressed ear (in your environment that doesnt work). The easiest way is to propagate the changes from your local to the other environment (you can scope it to just session properties)

  • Weblogic portal admin - delegates book contents are visible to anonymous us

weblogic portal admin - delegates book contents are visible to anonymous users !!!
In the weblogic portal administration console, we have configured a desktop and under which there are some portlets and one delegates book (delegates book contains portlets which are visible to the logged in users only by configuring entitlements)
The desktop URL is something like : http://10.0.1.1:7010/TTDPortalWeb/appmanager/TTDPortal/desktop
accessing this URL shows the main page contents perfectly before and after login (ie. it only shows the services which are supposed to show to the logged in user)
but if somebody accesses the below url delibrately, all the contents are shown even without login.
    http://10.0.1.1:7010/TTDPortalWeb
when i select a portlet inside the delegates book, I can see the Portlet publishing link URL as:
    http://10.0.1.1:7010/TTDPortalWeb/bea/wlp/api/portlet/publish?context=/TTDPortalWeb/appmanager/TTDPortal/desktop&portlet=CompletionCertificatePortlet_1
but when I roll mouse over the service's link on the actuall page, I see url as http://10.0.1.1:7010/TTDPortalWeb/wlp.c?__c=7d6 (also when I click the service, I takes me to this URL)
When I roll mouse over the forgot password which is at the main desktop (not inside the delegates book) it shows the correct URL which is http://10.0.1.1:7010*/TTDPortalWeb/appmanager/TTDPortal/desktop*?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=portlet_3_1_1&portlet_3_1_1_actionOverride=%2Fttd%2Fportal%2Fpageflow%2Fuser%2Flogin%2FforgotPassword
Any help would be highly appreciated

  • Can't access to Portal Admin Console.

    Hi all,
I'm working with WLP 10.2. I've created the ear-file (using maven) and deployed it on server (with Unix-system). The current application works well.
My current task is a creation portal in streaming mode. Unfortunately I can't access to Portal Admin console for resolving task. I always retrieve "Error 404 (Not found)".
As I know the admin-tools.war is responsible for Portal Admin Console. I've checked admin-tools.war is running on server (with status "Active").
I'm using the next path for running Portal Admin Console: {serverhost:port}/{context root of admin-tools}/portal.portal.
    Maybe, Should I set up(correct) application.xml or weblogic.xml?
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Yuriy

I think your URL is wrong, try with the following...
    http://{server:port}/{name_your_ear}Admin/portal.portal
name_your_ear= The name of your Enterprise Application.
    For example,
    http://localhost:7001/DemosEarAdmin/portal.portal
    I hope this helps

  • Customizing portal admin console

    hi,
I have a requirement to display only pages, portlets, roles for entitilement only to display to specific setof users in portal administration console.
How to customize portal administration console.
    Thanks
    Manu

    Hi Manu
As Kevin already mentioned, Delegated Adminstration will work perfectly for your requirement and this is very powerful feature from Weblogic Portal. You can control any areas of Portal Admin Console, using this Delegated Admin Privileges. Open Portal Admin Console, create some DA Roles. For this DA Roles, add some users or groups etc. Then for specific areas of Portal Admin console, on right side almost for any page, you will see 2 tabs named Entitlements and Delegated Adminstration. Use the DA Tab to assign these Roles. And login with those Users.
    Thanks

  • How to update default elements in Portal admin console 10

There is a JavaScript bug on the "Browse Book contents" page in the Portal Admin Console that makes it impossible to update the selection of a new default element.
The reason is a missing name scope qualifier in th ebutton function definition:
    <button onclick="updateResources('updateDefaultElementForm', 'defaultElement', this);" type="button" class="button" id="updateResourcesButton" style="">
                                <span>Update</span>
                            </button>has to be changed to
    <button onclick="updateResources('n5.updateDefaultElementForm', 'defaultElement', this);" type="button" class="button" id="updateResourcesButton" style="">
                                <span>Update</span>
</button>As a quick fix until BEA fixes the code, this can be done with Firebug in a Firefox browser before pushing the "update" button.

Well, not having any rows in the PF_SHELL_DEFINITION table would make the admin console think it's not a portal web app. But, the real question is why there aren't any shells in the database. I don't think this is it, but can you verify that your webapp has at least one shell. From Workshop, you use the Merged Project view (Window -> Show View -> Other -> WebLogic Portal -> Merged Projects) to expand your project's framework/markup/shells folder and see if you have the some .shell files (I'm pretty sure you will).
Generally, the most common problem is that the wrong servlet class is somehow loaded for the AppManagerServlet. Normally, having wlp-framework-full-web-lib before wlp-light-web-lib in the weblogic.xml does the trick, but sometimes other library modules cause problems. I think there's a way to view this information via the WLS console (http://server:port/console), but I don't know the exact details. Otherwise, you can view the web.xml and weblogic.xml file as it is in the server. There's no out-of-the-box tool to do this, but it pretty easy to write a jsp which uses application.getResouceAsStream("/WEB-INF/web.xml") and then prints that InputStream to the jsp's outputstream. If the servlet-class is com.bea.netuix.servlets.manager.PortalServlet, then it's coming from wlp-framework-full-web-lib and it should load shell (and other things) into the database; if it's com.bea.netuix.servlets.manager.SingleFileServlet, then it's coming from wlp-light-web-lib and it won't load shells into the database and won't show as a portal webapp in the admin console.
Can you try that out and report back here? Also, sending your upgraded weblogic.xml would help as well.

  • Portal Forms are not displayed in the new migrated environment.

    Hi All,
We have a distributed Portal environment. Application server and Portal Repository running on one system(System1) and one more portal repository and portal components existing in anothor system(System2). Through DAD we connect to System2 and access the componets. Recently we have done a migration. The Database along the Portal Repository in system2 was migrated to a new server. For this we have edited the DAD and made the necessary changes. But after the migration, the Forms residing in migrated portal repository(System2) are not getting dispayed. The rest of the things(Reports, Pages, Links,LOVs etc..) are working fine. The forms are not getting displayed in the pages where it's added. When forms are run from RUN link in Develop Tab it's showing ERROR but not the cause of the error. Will anyone tell what changes I have to do to make the Forms work?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Tom

    Hi DIAdemUser1,
This feature was indeed removed.  R&D felt like it caused more confusion than benefit, and I agree.  I do apologize to you and others who liked the feature that has now disappeared.  When DIAdem 9.0 released the custom properties in the Data Portal showed their data types, but that feature was also removed in favor of simplicity.  I often miss that feature, but it's for the greater good.

  • Admin Console should not be accessible from the Internet

    Hi!
I am using WebLogic 6.1 and by default the Admin Console runs under the same port
like the deployed web applications. As a matter of fact, the Admin Console can
been seen from the Internet! :(
Is there a way to start the Admin Console with another port? Or is there any other
solution that the Admin Console is only accessible from the Intranet but not from
    the Internet??
I couldn't find anything in the documentation related to this topic.
    Thanks in advance.
    Markus Richter

One solution I use is to place an Apache WebServer in front of the BEA HTTP server and use the Apache/WebLogic module to proxy requests.
Apache is much more configurable, robust etc etc as a webserver. If you configure a specific Apache Virtual Server for connections to your Weblogic server you can use Apache ACL's to control access to the console via specific IP addresses only.
The ACL in the Apache Virtual Server configuration could like something like this.
    <Location /console/>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    allow from 10.0.0.1
    </Location>
    hope this helps.

  • Admin Applet could not start after upgrade to 11g

I recently performed an in-place upgrade of UCM 10g to 11g following the UCM Upgrade documentation.
After the upgrade, the Admin Applet could not run using the browser.
I have tried on both IE8 and FireFox.
Let's use Repository Manager as an example.
I click on the icon in the Admin Applet page in the browser, an error message pop-up:
    apUnableToStartApplication(RepoMan) apFailedToInitialize syFileUtilsFileNotFound((null))
I tried to trace the error using the Server Output with the option "applet", but have no luck.
Using the option "applet", the Server Output is blank.
In the Java Console, I have the following error message:
    Caused by: intradoc.data.DataException: !apFailedToInitialize
    at intradoc.apps.shared.AppLauncher.init(AppLauncher.java:177)
    at IntradocApp.createFrame(IntradocApp.java:329)

    at intradoc.apps.shared.AppLauncher.init(AppLauncher.java:169)
    *... 28 more*
I was able to start the applets in the server running as standalone in the directory "<domain_root>/ucm/cs/bin".
    Could someone help, please?

    Highly odd.

That bit of code logic looks for only either a 403 or a 404 response code (403 being "forbidden" and 404 being "page not found"). The system is explicitly getting a 404 error passed to it, but the download test you just did shows that the file exists, and can be downloaded.
I have to wonder if the jar is messed up. My file size is 3.16 MB (3,318,627 bytes) for 11g. Yours close to that?
Also, try dumping your Java temp cache on your local machine. This is not the same as your temporary internet files. You have to go into the Java console control in Windows Control Panel to do it.
