Best regards,
The Beta 9.2 Team

The Beta 9.2 Team,
9.2 features sounds good and interesting. We are using BEA's Content management system(8.1) extensively.
Our requirement is to create a portlet for Content Owner/Users to create HTML documents with images and upload it into BEA Repository. Upon uploading, Content Admin needs to be notified through email and they will either approve or reject the document. The content status again needs to be notified to the content owner/user via email.
1. As known to everyone 8.1 doesn't have WYSIWYG editor and is included in 9.2. Can i reuse the 9.2 WYSIWYG functionality into 8.1 as a portlet??
2. The following thread(http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=400001479&tstart=0) says
- workflow ==> We have limited workflow support. We plan to enhance this in our next major release.
Does this limited workflow support include email notification?
Any inputs would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
-Nach.

  • Book on Weblogic Portal and beehive page flow portal integration

    I request oracle press to write a book on Weblogic Portal as well as Creating pageflow based portlets with weblogic portal and workshop.
    The old edocs.bea.com documentation sucks and does not meet the oracle press standard.

  • Running weblogic server and workshop on 2 different machines

    hi all,
    My computer cannot handle both the server and workshop running on it, at the same time.
    1) installed weblgic server, created domain on computer A.
    2) mapped the domain\source code(working in dev mode) on computer A to computer B.
    3) I open up the .work file in the mapped drive from workshop on computer B.
    Problem:
    Computer B never completes "Scanning .. source...", very processor intensive.
    Any help, very much appreciated.
    Novice!

    Workshop is a pig and the scanning thing spikes my CPU everytime (1.8Ghz P4 and 1G memory). Please make it better.

  • Where is the download for Oracle Weblogic Portal and current documentation?

    The web page for Oracle Weblogic Portal has a download link, but nothing happens when I click it:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic-portal/downloads/index.html
    I've downloaded the documentation
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic-portal/documentation/index.html
    which is supposed to be for version 10.3, but the dates on the documents are all from 2008. I don't see anything indicating support for JSR 286 in those documents.
    Are there more up-to-date documents for the latest version of Oracle WL Portal?
    Thanks.
    Dean

    Hi Dean
    Looks like that site is down. On Firefox, I checked in Error Console window and it shows some java script error like acceptAgreement is not found etc. This link did worked earlier. I hope they fix it asap. Same problem with IE browser also (java script error).
    Coming to documentation, based on your link, I hope you are using 10.3.2 docs. I clicked on View Library and then select Portlet Development -> Java Portlets link and got this link: This link does cover JSR 286 stuff. For more indepth JSR 286, you can google and get more details.

  • Need to install weblogic portal and how to start

    HI,
    Can anyone guide me how to install the weblogic portal.. from where i can get the exe and user guide..
    plz give me the links

    The Oracle WebLogic Portal documentation for 10.3 (10g Release 3) is here:
    http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/
    That documenation includes an installation guide:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/common/docs103/install/index.html
    The installation guide contains a section on "Product Distribution" that contains what you need to know:

  • Does weblogic portal and microsoft BI live together

    Can i connect microsoft BI with weblogic portal,

    Yes, it is possible. Take a look at details at Introducing Oracle WebCenter WSRP Producer for .NET
    With portlets you have always two systems:
    - one which host the portlet
    - and the other that consumes it
    Apparently, WebCenter Portal provides both portlet container to host Java portlets and ability to consume portlets (via WSRP). You will need another server that host Microsoft portlets, of course.

  • How to install Weblogic Portal 10.3.0

    Dear All,
    I need to install Weblogic Portal 10.3.0 in two flavaors. 1) Single instance 2)In a cluster.
    I'm relative new to Weblogic Portal. The platform is solaris 10 64 bit. Can anyone provide a step-by-step installation sequence?
    I read the installation guide but it says nothing about how the installation would work. This is what I have done till now:
    1. Installed the WLP 10.3.0 with Weblogic Server, Weblogic Portal and Workshop components.
    2. After installation, ran config.sh command and configured Admin server and one managed server (to support portal).
    But after my domain is created and I start my managed server, I see nothing in the deployments page. There are no errors either in the log files.
    IS there a step I'm missing? Do we need to manually deploy portal application? if yes, how?
    Any help would be truly appreciated.

    rb

    Hi RB!
    Sounds like you just starting off fresh with WLP. This may or may not help. I suggest learning some of the basics of creating a Portal.Ear file and deploying it to other environments.

    Using WebLogic Portal
    If you are new to WebLogic Portal, a short tutorial is provided to help you get started. See Tutorials – Getting Started with WebLogic Portal for more information. The tutorials discuss setting up a portal development environment, creating a portal, and assembling a desktop in your staging environment.
    Tip:      If you are unfamiliar with the Eclipse development environment on which Workshop for WebLogic is based, the tutorial “Getting Started with Workshop for WebLogic” located in the Oracle Workshop for WebLogic User’s Guide, is highly recommended; the tutorial shows you how to start Workshop for WebLogic and navigate the workbench user interface, introduces terminology associated with the workbench, and shows you how to create a simple web application.
    The WebLogic Portal Overview provides a starting point for understanding and developing applications with WebLogic Portal. This chapter introduces portal concepts, describes the WebLogic Portal infrastructure framework and business services, and describes the portal life cycle, from architecture through development, staging, and production. The remaining chapters in this guide describe each phase of the life cycle in detail and provide a starting point for using WebLogic Portal.

  • Developing portal using Weblogic portal 10.3 or weblogic workshop 10.3

    Hello
    I am new to portal development. I see that one can develop portal using Oracle weblogic workshop 10.3 which has many features including Java Page Flow and Java controls. I am wondering what extra features one can get using Weblogic portal 10.3. The Weblogic platform 10.3 which I use does not have weblogic portal, it has weblogic AS and workshop. Do I need weblogic portal install now or in future while developing portal. I am trying to develop a portal from scratch. Any input will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Some suggesssions,
    While installing the weblogic you need select weblogic portal option also. Only for weblogic different installation exe file with portal different exe file.
    To get the weblogic portal server and portal work shop with weblogc you need to down load weblogic portal 10.3 exe file.
    Thanks,

  • Hardcoded pathnames in pageflow controller class in weblogic portal

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding the annotations which are used while working with pageflows in weblogic workshop. When we use the forward annoation
    to forward from a particular action method or even say the begin method, i feel the path to the resource, typically,JSP page is hardcoded. I would like to know
    if there is a way to avoid hardcoding the names of the resources inside the pageflow controller class. Basically, i would like the forward resource to be configurable. If i want to change to a different forward jsp i don't want to change the controller source which will result in building the class again. So, is there way we can avoid hardcoding the name of the forward inside the controller class.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply. I am sure using struts would be right choice. But, I am looking to see if there is a better way to achieve that when using pageflows with weblogic portal. Since, i am more used to struts, i wanted to know if i can get a similar feature while working with beehive pageflows in weblogic portal and not using struts. Also, i see that while using the pageflows struts-config-xml file is being generated in the classes folder. But, i am not able to change that xml file directly as the controller code overrides my changes in the xml file. So, i believe that there is no direct way to accomplish my requirement using pageflows. So, i need to create a struts pageflow or import a create a pageflow based on a existing struts module or applicaition only.

  • WebLogic Portal 10.3 cannot initialize graphical installation in Debian 6.0

    Hello everyone.
    I have a problem with installing WebLogic Portal (and WebLogic Server also) with graphic mode in Debian 6.0 Squeeze. I've installed normally in Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 (openjdk-6 amd64), and everything works nice.
    But when I tried to install it in my Debian 6.0 amd64 laptop (Dell Latitude e6400), I have alot of problems. I cannot install weblogic portal (file: portal103_linux32.bin) in graphic mode, and the same problems occur with creating weblogic domain (cannot run config.sh in graphical mode). I know that I can install WebLogic and create domain in command line mode, but the main problem is unable to run Eclipse (OEPE).
    I tried to change JVM from amd64 to i386 and from Sun JVM to JRockit JVM but nothing change. I'm a developer so that I cannot work without Eclipse, please help me to solve this problem.
    Thank in advance.
    Regards.

    This is a bug, CR379999. that will be fixed WLP 10.4. In the meantime, here's the workaround from the bug report:
    Download the plugin manually, and either 1) create an extension location on the file system from it and add that via Help|Software Updates|Manage Configuration, or 2) extract it to one of the workshop eclipse folders (i.e. tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/eclipse_3.3.2, tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/pkgs/eclipse, workshop_10.3/workshop4WP/eclipse, wlportal_10.3/eclipse).
    Additionally, you can comment out the com.* import lines in your %BEA_HOME%\wlportal_10.3\eclipse\features\com.bea.wlp_10.3.0\feature.xml, like this:
    <requires>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.core.runtime" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <import plugin="org.eclipse.ui" version="3.3" match="compatible"/>
    <!--
    <import feature="com.m7.nitrox" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.cmdline.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.common.feature" version="1.1.40" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.upgrade81.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.web.feature" version="1.0.20" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.wls.feature" version="1.1.30" match="compatible"/>
    <import feature="com.bea.workshop.xmlbeans.feature" version="1.0.30" match="compatible"/>
    -->
    </requires>
    Then restart Workshop. Sorry for the trouble.

  • WebLogic Portal vs Oracle Portal

    Anyone know the differences in term of features of WebLogic Portal and Oracle Portal?
    i) WebLogic Portal supports Web 2.0 while Oracle Portal doesn't?
    ii) Oracle Portal provides SSO to oracle applications while WebLogic Portal doesn't?
    Any other different features?
    Please advise, thanks.

    There are lots of differences, but I think you should post your question in the WebCenter and Web 2.0 Technology forum with some additional detail as to why you are asking:
    WebCenter Portal
    For example, are you making a technology choice for a particular project? What portal requirements do you have? What are the skillsets of those who will be implementing, etc.
    The long term strategy is to converge on the WebCenter product, but there are nuances that may make other portal products a better fit in the short-term.

  • What is the Weblogic Portal Admin URL

    Hi,
    I am learning the Weblogic Portal using workshop. I Installed Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 with Workshop and created a sample portal application, configured the Workshop to start the weblogic server and start the server,Run my application EAR into server and saw theopen administration console.
    Please clarify the following quesitons
    1. How do i deploy the portal application and access my application without using Workshop?
    2. What is the portal admin console url,port number?
    3. What is the purpose of using application specific console in WLP i.e http://localhost:port/myappAdmin ?
    4. is there any common administrator console in WLP i.e without using application specific console like http://localhost:port/myappAdmin ?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot
    Suresh

    Suresh -
    1. To deploy without Workshop/Eclipse, you will generally create an EAR of your application (via the Export Wizard under the File > Export menu) and deploy that with either the WLS console, WLST, or the weblogic.Deployer utility class. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14245/deployment.htm#i1027718 has a fair amount of information.
    2. The WLP admin portal is a webapp deployed as part of your application, via the wlp-tools-admin-app-lib.ear shared library. So, its host and port number are the same as wherever you deploy your application. The url path of the admin portal is controlled via your application's META-INF/weblogic-application.xml file; there's a <wls:library-context-root-override> element for the 'tools' context-root.
    3. Since the WLP admin portal is a webapp deployed as part of your application, it needs to have a unique context-root to support deploying multiple WLP applications. The ear wizard in Eclipse defaults to specifying the context-root as [appname]Admin to support this, but you can always change the context-root as I described above.
    4. No, currently, the WLP admin console is application-scoped and controls the configuration and behavior for that application. So, for multiple applications, you will have to use multiple admin console urls.
