Weblogic support for Suse SLES 8 Intel

I'm trying to find out whether Weblogic 8.1 SP3 supports SLES 8 and whether Weblogic 7.0 SP5 supports SLES 8. I saw from the download site that only RHEL 3.0 and RHEL 21 are supported respectively. What any additional platform certification done.

Hi All,

Thanks in advance.
Boon KeongTo the extent that you mean standard JDBC, we have no option or problem
in supporting any JDBC driver to any DBMS in any of our servers. Tell me
more about your question. Have you tried and had problems?

Some recent reading regarding this chipset lead me to believe the mobile client could be installed using Pocket PC StrongArm. When attempting this using my Dell AXIM X5, Ceappmgr.exe fails with the following when trying to register the cab files:
"Application Manager cannot install this application for your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again."
I assume this is the result of the unsupported chipset.
Along with Andrew, I would appreciate further insights into these issues.

  • Install of SAP on  Linux -glibc-32bit-8.1-9 for Novell SUSE SLES Linux 10.

    Hi All
We are installing the Oracle on x86_64 using Novell SUSE SLES 10.
As per OSS note 841728 , (Installation Proble #8) for SUSE\UnitedLinux x86_64 ) we should have glibc-32-8.1-9 and glibc-devel-32bit-8.1-9 installed.
We have glibc-32bit-2.4-31.30 and glibc-devel-32bit-2.4-31.30 installed on Linux server.
    My question are :-
    1) Do we must have these files (glibc-32-8.1-9) installed? Or will do with  glibc-32bit-2.4-31.30.
As OUI gives following warning during installation :-
    Checking recommended glibc version.......failed
2 ) where to get these files from? I was unable to find these RPMs?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Dear Hannes
First of all thank you for the reply.
Yes, I am using the "RUNINSTALLER" from SAP directory, but updated "RUNINSTALLER" I downloaded as per OSS note  980426.
Using workaround # 3 , recommended by SAP.
I have downloaded these Oracle CD's (material #  51031676) from service market place 5days ago and they are dated as 11-04-2006.
I have to use OSS note 980426 as I was getting following error

So, I was more concern about Msg# 4, and that's how I came across OSS note Note 841728 - Installation problem #8.

  • Client support for Intel Mac

Does anybody know if and when there will be support for MacOs on Intel Macs for the client libraries?

Unfortunately not many people who use Oracle also use Macs (let's face it, Macs are a small percentage of desktop usage in most business spheres). Combine this with the fact that the Intel Mac is a recent innovation and so currently represents a sliver of Mac usage compared to PowerPC, and you'll see that Oracle clients on Intel Macs must be quite low on the priority scale for porting.
I agree that this is frustrating for you and your clients, but Oracle have to make hard commercial decisions. One of those decisions is to favour the mainstream OS flavours over the niche ones. They never supported Macs until Apple switched to a Unix-based OS, because the previous OS would have been too much work for too lsmall a market segment. They never supported BeOS either, for precisely the same reason.
I guess they will eventually port the Oracle clients to Intel Macs, but not just yet. Still,Any word on MacIntel support? you're not alone.
    Cheers, APC

  • Web Service Support for WebLogic

Add Support for Web Services to WebLogic using IONA's XMLBus
For anyone interested in Web services, IONA has just released a free
technology preview of iPortal XMLBus, with support for BEA WebLogic 6.0
patch 1. You can download it today from www.xmlbus.com, a Web site entirely
    dedicated to Web services.
The iPortal XMLBus Technology Preview enables Java Developers to turn
existing EJBs and Java Applications into Web services. XMLBus is 100% pure
Java and installs seamlessly on top of the
WebLogic. It implements the W3C v1.1 draft specifications of SOAP and WSDL.
SOAP is the communication protocol used by Web services to traverse over
HTTP, SNMP, and FTP. WSDL has become the standard for describing Web service
    interfaces in XML.
XMLBus automates the process of turning Java classes into Web services,
ensuring that Java developers do not need to learn a whole new programming
language to turn existing applications into Web services.
Wizards guide the developer through the identification of interfaces and
methods the developer wants to become a Web service. The wizard deploys a
SOAP Listener and a WSDL interface for that Java Class, as well as Java
client proxy applications. The client proxy can easily be incorporated into
any Java Application to invoke the corresponding methods described in the
    WSDL.

This is fixed now. Someone had defined a Servlet for the web service in web.xml that was preventing the EJB container to kick in.

  • Oracle support for Weblogic 7 under LINUX

    Hi,
Does anyone know what happened to oracle support in weblogic 7.0 for linux platform,
as it seems that the drivers are not included? Are there any discussions on that
    topic anywhere?
    thanks.
    Zlatko

It DOES appear that there is support for WebLogic jDriver for Oracle on Linux:
    see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/certifications/certifications/redhat_linux.html#39532
The strange thing here is that, apparently, the Oracle drivers located @ lib/linux/i686/oci817_8/libweblogicoci38.so
and lib/linux/i686/oci817_8/libweblogicoxa38.so are "Type 2" ODBC drivers which
require an Oracle client to be installed on the WebLogic machine, but Oracle doesn't
support installation of the client on RedHat 7.2, which is required (according
BEA's doc) for installation of WebLogic 7.0. Can someone reconcile this apparent
    conflict?
