Webmail Address Book

I was wondering if their is a way to export or import an address book into webmail (squirrelmail 1.4.5) that is built into 10.4.8. I know that you can add people to your address book through webmail directly and I don't see any options to either import or export from the address book. Maybe there is a back way to do it through the back end that I am not aware of?
Thank you for any help
Jeremy

Squirrelmail supports plug-ins, which are relatively easy to install (if you're comfy in Terminal):

  • How to use webmail address book on Mac Mini Server with Lion Server.

I have a Mac Mini Server with Lion Server installed; the webmail is setup and working but I can not get the address book to work.
I have followed an instruction from this website on how to activate the address book icon in webmail but can not add any addresses.  Is there something that needs to be activatied before it will work?

No, I didn't solve the problem. The monitor still goes to sleep with WIndows but not with my Mac Mini. About 8 months ago I basically wore out the power switch on my monitor so I bought a wireless power switch to shut it off at the outlet. The VX2835wm monitor itself is now starting to fail as well-- a couple of times it's gone through a weird sequence of flashing screen colors on power up and ended up in an overscan mode (that took me for ever to figure out how to fix). I have decided to replace my VX2835wm with a Dell u2412m once it fails for good partly because I really want to keep the 16:10 resolution (very hard to find these days) and partly because I want to see if a different make of monitor will go to sleep properly based upon my Mac Mini power down settings.

  • Webmail & Address Books

    To All,
I apologize in advance if this is a newbie question...
I have installed Lion Server and am in the process of configuring email. Everything seems to be working except I don't see where I can access an address book from webmail. It appears that I have to enter an email address manually each time. Is there something else I need to configure to access the Address Book server from webmail or is it not available?
Thanks for help with this issue.

i have been wondering the same thing.  what i did figure out is if you open an email sent by the person whom you would like to add to your address book in the from field you can see and icon - head with shoulders - if you mouse over you will see an add to address book - if you click the service adds - now if you type the first few letters in an email you are prompted with a pop up and should be able to add the persons name - isnt ideal but better than having to type full name.
i havent been able to figure out if this somehow links to the address book server and populates there....  if you have some luck let me know

  • Why are addresses dropping off my Comcast webmail address book? I am not using Outlook - Comcast webmail. Comcast said it could be a Mozilla problem. I got a new computer early July & switched from Explore to Mozilla at same time.

Early July I got a new computer & switched from using Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. I just noticed that some names in my Comcast webmail address box have been disappearing. I contact Comcast this morning & they couldn't give me an answer except to say change web browers. I didn't have the problem when I used Internet Explorer.

That's the reason I left Comcrap. Never a solution. Never a straight answer. Always blaming some one else.

  • When using Firefox &Juno Webmail, I can't access my address book

When I go to Juno webmail using Firefox as my browser, I can't access the address book. With other browsers, as an example, after opening an E-mail, I can click on "Forward", then click on "To", and my address book will open. This doesn't work when Firefox is the browser.

  • Mail app. and Webmail .Mac don't sync Address Book properly

How does one go about making these 3 things Sync with each other correctly?
    What I mean is this:
I have a lot of contacts with emails and such in my Address Book. I can access those with the Mail app. and I can send emails and keep on adding more info.
I use my .Mac account to supposedly sync and backup everything - so that when I happen to be away from my computer or if I want to surf it by webmail in to my account, I can -
however, when I access the address book inside my account in webmail, it's all jumbled up. A lot of the contacts have 2 copies of each, and then all the email addresses that I have been saving when I get new emails from new people within webmail it saves as a completely new contact.
This is getting tedious. Is there any way to make all these sync a little more coherently?
    Thank you for your suggestions.

Sorry all,  re my question above,  since reading a response, from Winston Churchill, to another question I realise that I have two address lists on my iPhone (iCloud and On My Mac). They match each other and (MacBook)Address Book  but don't match the Mail Contacts.  Thanks, M

  • How do I export addresses from my Earthlink webmail account to my Mac's address book?

Having trouble exporting addresses from my Earthlink webmail account to my Mac's address book. Won't accept the CVS file. How do I do this? Earthlink does not give me any options--it automatically creates a CVS file when I hit "export."

The tweaking comes after you have a working csv file which you don't yet. Just to be sure, here's what I did to get mine: In Earthlink webmail, click Preferences -> Address Book Tab -> Import/Export Address Contacts -> Export Address Book. Hopefully that presents you with this dialog box:
I did Save File, not Open, and put it on my desktop. Then launch Apple Address Book -> File -> Import, and navigate to your desktop and select the csv file. It has to have ".csv" at the end of the name as the correct file type. If you do all that and still get the same error message, something else is wrong. If it's still bad, check the csv file on your desktop, try to open it with Excel for Mac or some other spreadsheet program and you should see all the data - names, addresses if any, email addresses, etc.

This is most inconvenient and frustrating

Norton Version 5.0 works with Mozilla 4.0 with a patch from Norton. I went to Norton help tab, chat line, and Norton assistant took over my computer, upgraded my Norton version 3.0, and installed the patch free of charge. all problems solved.

  • Address book access sluggish

Having many problems in TB 31.1.2.
Selecting an email address from address book used to be very FAST; type in a couple of letters and hit enter.
Now there is a distinct and long pause before the selection appears after typing in a couple of letters.
In fact it takes so long that my old habit of typing a couple of letters and hitting enter no longer works. I now have to WAIT for TB to pull in the address.
    Please fix this.

  • Can't import LDIF format exported mail address to Address Book

New to iMac and trying full migration from PC
I have a LDIF format address file (exported from Comcast's Webmail in Netscape Communicatore LDIF format). Can't import the file to my new iMAC's Address Book.
Getting the following msg: No Cards Added. No importable cards were found.
It is a small file, there are records in the file- I opened the file with MS Notepad. I have opend the file with TextEdit as well and see the records in the file. Records have givenname:, sn:, mail:. xmozillanickname:, description:.
I've checked the FAQ, all support pages and there doesn't seem to be a solution.
    Is this ture?
    iMAc   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    I found a solution.
When I tried importing the mailboxes, I was selecting "Files in mbox format," because that's what they are, right? No. Apparently, I needed to select "Apple Mail" instead.
That imports everything under an Import folder, and then I can select the emails and drag them to the appropriate inboxes (after re-setting up the accounts).
Ugh, this is not easy. But I'm getting close.
(Oh, step 6 will be to clear off Time Capsule and start a new backup. But only after I'm convinced things are running right. Obviously, I will be looking at other options for catastrophic backup in the future.)
Another note: I first tried copying my entire user folder to my external drive. But after a few minutes of copying, that failed, saying that I didn't have permission to copy one or more files. It didn't tell me what it was, or ask whether to skip it. It just failed. So that's why I was left to selectively pick files.
Another lesson learned: Know your Time Capsule password. If you rely on Keychain for this, and your machine dies, you're going to have a hard time recovering (if it's possible).

  • Mail and Address Book freezing on launch

Just recently, both Mail and Address Book have started freezing immediately after I launch them. I tried using DiskWarrior, repairing Permissions using Disk Utility, and repairing my Keychain, but the problem still persists. At first, Mail displays its window as expected, but it does not respond (although I can still move the window) and I get the spinning beachball cursor. Address book just brings up a blank window, with no expected contents. Like Mail, it does not respond, I get the spinning beachball cursor, and I can still move the window.
Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it?

Well, I don't see that option anywhere in Verizon's webmail service. But, it looks like your other suggestion is on the right track. With some minimal experimentation, I found that when I remove the "AddressBook" folder from "Application Support," the freeze disappears. But on the down side, only two contacts show up when I open Address Book. So for now, I've put the folder back where it was originally. Do you have any recommendations on how to narrow down the problem so that I can fix the freezes without having to lose the bulk of my contacts list (and have to piece it back together)?

  • Can I transfer/migrate my mail address book from my old G5 OS 10.4.11 to a new Maverick 10.9.4 ?

Can I transfer/migrate my mail address book from my old G5 OS 10.4.11 to a new Maverick 10.9.4 ?

Thank you so much! I actually need help transferring my old address book with all my contacts and their e-mail addresses. I had trouble setting up mail so I used my internet provider's webmail to send and receive mail, but that is fixed now.
If I have to manually enter each contact, I'll do that, but it sure would be nice if there was a way to transfer the address book.
    Thanks again.

  • Yahoo! Mail glitches with Lion mail client and Address Book app

I had really been looking forward to using my Yahoo! mail account in the Lion mail client but now that it is here and I have set it up and used it for a few days I am noticing the following issues:
New mail is not always received or is received late. Yahoo! Webmail portal shows new items but these sometimes do not appear in Lion mail client even after a manual 'get mail' check.
Mail marked as read in Yahoo! Webmail portal or in mail clients in iOS devices such as iPhone or iPad is not marked as read in Lion mail client, however the reverse does work (i.e. mail marked as read in Lion mail client does mark the message as read in webmail and in clients on iOS devices).
Yahoo! Aliases are not supported. Yes, you can add aliases by inserting the other email addresses in the 'Email Address' field of the account settings, but you cannot add more than one display name.
I have also found that if you turn on Yahoo! contacts via the tick-box in the new 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars' pref pane in System Preferences that I end up with random duplicated contacts. These duplicates are not seen on iOS devices, just in the Address Book app. If you delete a duplicate contact, it deletes the contact altogether. However, I have found that if you keep contacts unticked in the pref pane and add your Yahoo! account the old-fashioned way (i.e. via the Address Book app's own preferences) then the contacts sync through perfectly with no duplications.
I would be interested to know if anybody else is experiencing these issues. It may be worth noting that mine is not a @yahoo.com address but @xtra.co.nz which belongs to my ISP here in New Zealand, but the mail is managed by Yahoo!. The account works perfectly as a Yahoo! account on iOS devices and does appear to be working in Lion, except for these small glitches but I don't imagine these are specific to @xtra.co.nz addresses.
    Thanks
    Steve

i've had the same experience here.
essentially it seems like lion mail.app just takes an incredibly long time to pickup new changes from the IMAP server at yahoo.
ios and webmail are obviously much quicker.
if it is working on ios, why does is it so delayed in mail?
    any solutions out there?
